Roseflower · 30/09/2011 22:05

Thank you sassy!

PenguinArmy · 30/09/2011 22:06

oh and of course you're not too late rose

sweep is nothing scary, it's the other stuff I worry about

Roseflower · 30/09/2011 22:17

Thank you penguin
What is on your mind?

PenguinArmy · 30/09/2011 22:19

oh nothing in particular apart from heartburn just mean I don't consider sweep to be intervention like the other stuff.

Roseflower · 30/09/2011 22:23

It's just one of those things that makes me cringe! Like when someone describe getting the coil fitted
If they have to intervene I think I would prefer the gel stuff again

I cant stop eating. Im craving carbs like crazy

PenguinArmy · 30/09/2011 22:27

they did a ARM on me last time after not progressing and being shattered. Don't look at the crotchet needle Actually internal did worry me last time after watching a women scream on OBEM and having a history of being rather tight but that was fine. Weird the things that jump out at us

Roseflower · 30/09/2011 22:31

Oh the knitting needle...no,no,no...

Oh that makes me realllly cringe....

With dc1 all I worried about was the midwife helping into the shower after and seeing everything. What a fool!

But a blissfully ignorant fool Grin

PenguinArmy · 30/09/2011 22:48

not sure if first timers have been told, but when you go for your shower DO NOT LOOK.

then even if you do like I did, at least you've been warned

bilblio · 30/09/2011 23:14

I wrote my friend a list of "Things they won't tell you about childbirth" Because I thought I was well informed but some things really shocked me and I wish I'd been warned. She was very naive about everything

I was mainly scared of having a poo afterwards, it wasn't actually that bad it was the thought of pushing again!

TMI but I've got piles again now and so I'm getting that anxiety every time I go to the loo. Hmm

Also the blood clots after. I was expecting it, but some of the blood clots on the first day felt about the size of an egg. It was only the first day though. If you have big blood clots after the first day you need to speak to someone.

Right off to try to sleep in this heat!

PenguinArmy · 30/09/2011 23:20
LittlePebble · 30/09/2011 23:38

PenguinArmy why don't you look in the shower? Hmm sorry if being naive first timer!

PenguinArmy · 30/09/2011 23:40

I meant don't look down below (not just shower with your eyes closed Grin, your bits will most likely be unrecognisable to yourself, however they would have (if not CS) done a most brilliant job and deserve a little while to look suitably knackered.

Penelope1980 · 01/10/2011 01:50

Am glad to hear these tips from those of you who have had babies before - good to know that it all doesn't end when the baby comes! I know someone who didn't even know about the delivery of the placenta until they'd had their baby, their midwife must have dropped the ball on that one

Safariboots · 01/10/2011 02:03

Hello all Smile.
Leo4, congratulations on new baby, hope you are back home and feeling much better.

GroovyRach, how is it going so far? Thinking of you...

sound, good news, congratulations on your DP's new job.

PenguinArmy, glad you've got that now sorted.
Like you, I have insomnia and been so hot these last few nights, I've been sitting awake until morning 6am. My feet and hands are really swollen but my BP etc ok so no worries of PE yet. The heartburn is killing and I want out of this, hopefully soon!!

I now have my repeat ELCS date agreed.

Best wishes for all now waiting for the LOs to arrive.

Today 38+1

BB3 · 01/10/2011 04:54

It's October - yay!! Welcome to our official birth month!!

Penelope1980 · 01/10/2011 06:01

Yay october indeed! Now I feel less guilty about stubbornly remaining on the Oct bus [smiles]

40+2 today, and not feeling any closer than I was a week ago!

Engelsmeisje · 01/10/2011 09:28

Morning all!

Can't believe October is here already.

37+4

Mimatchin · 01/10/2011 09:52

Good Mornig!

Yes October now for sure!

BB3 your babies are lovely!

My hand and feet are still swollen so I'd rather not walk much today despite the nice weather...:(

No signs of labour but baby is moving well :)

38+6

bilblio · 01/10/2011 09:53

Hurrah for October! Let's hope now too many of us end up in November.

Penelope Good, Glad I didn't scare you, some people really don't like knowing these things, but I'd rather be prepared (and not scared if/when they happen.)

I've just remembered the other one that really freaked me out, was having contractions when BFing. I knew BFing helped the uterus to shrink back to normal size but I didn't realize it would hurt sometimes. I don't think I noticed it the first couple of days, it was probably about day 3 when my milk came in, and thankfully my Mum was round so could reassure me it was normal.

Today I plan on doing pretty much nothing. The house has been spotless all week, but DD is home now, so it looks like a bombsite already. No point trying to clean around her, I'll just keep encouraging her to put some things away and do the rest at bedtime.

shelleylou · 01/10/2011 10:13

woohoo its october lol.
Im 36+4 and getting rather fed up lol. Little man is moving well im hoping he arrives soon x

Penelope1980 · 01/10/2011 10:26

bilblio yes knowing is great - I want as much info as I can get! I can then file it away and use it later if required

PenguinArmy · 01/10/2011 10:48

also for me, let down pain built up and then dropped off, so 2-3 weeks was the tow curling sensation time.

DD didn't feed for 24 hours, then fed the second day and when milk came in on third day I couldn't latch her again. All normal, just did a bit of hand expressing into a syringe. A lady in the bed next to me didn't know this so was demanding formula and hers was new than mine (first day). They don't all feed straight away and have some reserve.

I hear afterpains are more intense the second/third... time around. My mum once said (she had 5) that she could actually feel her organs moving back into normal position.

There's a NCT sale today thought I'd check it out. Our nappies have arrived and very pleased with the price we got them for. Things still on the list (but aren't needed for a while) muslins, cotbed, changing bag (thinking of the pannier bags for the Phil and Teds) and erm I'm sure there was more Grin

GroovyRach · 01/10/2011 11:51

Well, she is here!!! Grin

Sophia Niamh, 30th sept, 8.13pm, weighing 6lbs 2!

Totally traumatic birth, but worth it in the end. So glad to finally have her in my arms. Will update properly later. Fingers crossed they let me home later and I can have a few hrs at wedding! My brother came up to see me a few hrs ago in all his gear. We both had a cry about fact I won't be there. I'm so sad about whole situation Sad

Leo4 · 01/10/2011 11:52

Hey everybody!!! Yay I'm home!! Little Zak is completely fine now... But I had to persuade the docs to send me home with a hb level of 7.3 ...with iron and antibiotics... I really didn't want a transfusion and I know with a good diet il be better in no time....

Really hope groovy gets on well today! induction really isn't fun especially with a hormone drip and I woudnt recommend it to anyone as a starting point but if it's to get your baby out safe (without csection) I'm sure all of us would do it again and again ...

I feel slightly sad Zak didn't make october but am so happy he is here.... No one can tel you what motherhood is like until you experience it... It makes you very happy but very tearful and also very tiring. I had a breakdown 2nd night Zak was here because he woke up for a feed every 1 hour throughout the night and I jus felt like he wanted me for my boobs. I got over it.... I have to say I didn't know If I would breast feed or not but it's so amazing and rewarding ( although very hard work and the latching on is hard to sus) so if anyone is umming and arring about it I say give it a go... If you don't like it at least you've had some skin to skin time!! Enough of my rant... Hope everyone is okay... Can't wait to hear all the baby news and BB3 your girls and son are gorgeous!

Leo4 · 01/10/2011 11:54
