O and groovy sorry you won't be at your brothers wedding :( I'm sure he is very proud of you though! And hope and pray you get there later xx

monkeybubbles · 01/10/2011 12:26

it's october, yay! i keep telling this baby that we're ready any time now!

groovy congratulations!!! i love the name and am so happy for you that you finally have your little girl...maybe they can set up a webcam or something at the wedding so you can have a peek?

leo so glad to hear that you're home, hopefully breast feeding and everything else will be slightly easier in your own home

38 + 2 and would be thrilled to have a 1st oct baby!!! (you hear that in there???) :)

mpops · 01/10/2011 13:20

Aww, congratulations Groovy and welcome to the world, little Sophia! Bless you, it must be hard to know you won't be at your brother's wedding but at least it's for a good reason, eh. The best reason!

Leo, glad you're back home and you're both doing better! Look after yourself.

Fleecy · 01/10/2011 13:36

Sorry about the timing but huge congratulations groovy Smile My DD is Sophia so I think you've chosen a truly beautiful name Wink Hopefully you can make it to the celebrations later on.

leo good to hear you're doing well. DS fed for 40 minutes in every hour the first night and I hadn't fed DD so wasn't sure about positioning and got very tired and very sore. We soon got the hang of it though (thanks to DS, not me!) and I assume it helped my milk come in?

Mimatchin · 01/10/2011 17:29

Groovy Congratulation!!

LittlePebble · 01/10/2011 18:37

Congratulations Groovy glad Sophia is here safe and sound. Sorry the timing sucks, hoping to get to go to some of the wedding.

Leo glad you're home and Zak is better. Nice to hear what it's like being a mum I can't wait.

PenguinArmy thanks for info there's so much no one seems to tell you. Am now fully prepared for elephantitus (sp?) of my lady garden and won't panic Grin!

Thought things might be moving this morning as had back pain and lots of BH but a bit more uncomfortable than previously. No such luck though so off to eat a pineapple followed by a curry and then will drag DP into bed Wink.

Penelope1980 · 01/10/2011 23:23

Congrats groovy ! Sophia was a name DH and I discussed before we found out we were having a boy.

leo what you said about breast feeding has comforted me, I am starting to get nervous about that.

40+3 today, and am starting to get daily messages about whether I've had the baby yet

soundofherwings · 01/10/2011 23:30

Looks like things are finally happening, contractions started at about 6 and still going strong. :)
Five minutes apart at the moment and loads more bloody show. Everyone was right, these are definitely not braxton hicks, they really really hurt!

LittlePebble · 01/10/2011 23:42

Ooh good luck sound!
Very jealous I thought things were starting for me but seems to have stopped now Envy keep us posted x

Mimatchin · 01/10/2011 23:43

Sound Good Luck!!!

CheshireDing · 02/10/2011 04:09

Sorry way behind on catching up here had a bit of an off Saturday, so sorry for those I have missed off:-

Yeh for maternity leave starting now Bab - I felt a bit guilty when DH went to work on Friday and it was my first day off, felt very odd

Moly are you really eating the placenta?

Sassy congratulations for you and DH

Groovy Congratulations on Sophia, I cannot believe she waited and then turned up on the wedding day after giving you the run around before :) Lovely that your Brother keep over just before

Good luck Sound

CheshireDing · 02/10/2011 04:26

Well my odd Saturday consisted of me feeling a bit hot, spacey and not really with it in the morning whilst we trudged around looking for a new TV (boring!). Bought TV, sorted my chickens out and as Porgey hadn't moved since 1 little tap first thing that morning we bought a Pepsi and then tortured it with a pint of cold water when we got home, tried to eat a bit of lunch to wake it up, just ended up with a major headache, 6 hours later even though I was still feeling neurotic DH rang the labour ward. He explained we usually have a really active baby and the usual things that might wake it up hadn't worked. MW asked us to come in.

Spent an hour attached to a tracing monitor, when (of course!) Porgey then woke up and went crazy. Very disturbing moment when a lady came in to the other room to be assessed and we heard her screaming and say "get it out of me". Absolutely pooped my pants then and felt really panicky. MW then said she couldn't get a regular base line she had asked the Dr what they though, MW asked if we could come back in 2 hours and see if it had calmed down. That was a bit odd as I expected them to say "yes its fine, moving loads, you can go, you're being neurotic" :(

Came home, did our jobs and then went back to the hospital, eventually Porgey and chilled out and she was happy with the results after about 30 minutes of tracing again. MW did say about the screaming woman that obviously for confidentially she couldn't tell tell me anyway but that that was not a normal case - I tried to convince myself her words had helped a bit!

MW said though I should have been drinking easily 1-2 litres of water whilst it's so hot and that when it is hot it's not unusual for Mums to end up coming up due to lack of movement and it's usually because they have not been drinking enough in the heat and very late stages of pregnancy. I usually manage a litre at work but I know I didn't on Friday as that was my first day of mat leave and I was busy and then definitely didn't yesterday as we were looking for the TV and busy again.

Anyway that's shown me, I still really need to think about drinking my water even though I don't have the routine of having a drink on my desk at work. Trying not to think about the screaming woman Shock

Penelope1980 · 02/10/2011 05:30

Am glad things worked out well for you cheshire, and I am going to try not to think about screaming lady in your story either! I did hear about a case here of a woman with a severe needle phobia and complications that came up due to her not allowing needles near her (ie being stiched up afterward with a big tear), maybe it was something like that rather than her screaming to get the baby out of her.

traybake · 02/10/2011 07:24

Hi everyone,
Not posted for a while,I am 39 weeks today.Had Shiatsu pressure point work on Thursday but baby still too high(although head engaged) so it hasn't worked. This weekend would have been perfect as work quiet.I have a big party in next weekend and a big wedding in for the 22nd,so I really needed to be back on my feet.3 staff handed their notice in and one going in for key hole surgery,Right now I feel rubbish, can't sleep and wondering how my business is going to survive without me,anyone got any ideas? Problem is I look at everything as worse case scenario and I am a constant thinker.Having to think about my work (due to all my staffs perfect timing -not)has taken over this precious time just before having a baby.

BB3 · 02/10/2011 10:05

Blimey I'm away from mm for a few hours and look at everything going on!!!

groovy huge congratulations on tour little girl, what a beautiful name (one of my favourites!) and so sorry you missed your brothers big day but on the positive side Sophia and him will always have that special link between them x

Cheshire glad you and porgey are ok x

Leo yay for coming home and enjoying mummy time with baby Zak

sound sending good luck vibes to you today!!

BB3 · 02/10/2011 10:13

Oh yes penguin - the toe curling bf pain is almost ending for me now, ede is a vampire latcher so have it a bit with her but generally much better!

They make placenta capsules?! Wow - good on you. I personally want nothing to do with anything that comes out apart from the babies. It was bad enough having to see it in my underwear in bits!!

Sorry of I've missed anything hope everyone is ok. I'm under orders and spending day in pyjamas did way too much yesterday and am suffering a lot a bit today (although not as much as last night!) so sofa, roast and snacks all day today x

TallyBear · 02/10/2011 13:32

Congrats Groovy not sure if I've missed the post but did you manage to get to any part of the wedding in the end? Even if you didn't I'm pretty sure that you gave your brother and SIL the best present - a new niece. No-one can top that one!

Cheshire read your post and immediately went to get a big glass of water. I'm terrible at drinking enough water, but really need to motivate myself on days like this. Like you I'm better with water (and fruit) at work, as it's right in front of me.

Traybake welcome back, sorry to hear you're having such a tough time with your business. How long before the 3 of them leave, could you persuade one/some of them to stay for a few months at least? Do you know anyone else who you could trust with the business or who could help out with the LO? What about other alternatives? I.e. getting students/work experience people in, guided by your remaining staff? I'm sorry, I don't run a business so I'm not much help but I hope you get through this.

Mimatchin · 02/10/2011 15:02

Traybake I am running a business as well (just slowed down a bit with pregnancy) I would advise you to first relax, do not put too much pressure on you. First find temp if you need urgent staff there is millions of qualified pople looking for work and Yes! your business is going to survive because you are a business woman and you know how to do it.

Second your baby and your life is the priority you will manage!

Cheshire Thanks for the water remionder Blush

Groovy I really look forward hearing from you

I've been to hospital this morning to check if I was not starting pre-eclempsia and listen to my baby heart. Everything is fine, my feet are still swollen and my hands painfull but as soon as weather will get cooler thise will come back to normal.
I am doing my big cooking for the post pregnancy part 3 dishes at the same time the whole will be cut in portion and frozen.

Hope everybody is coping well with the heat.

Baby is moving very often, no sign of labour but everything is fine :)

38+6 today

mumtobee · 02/10/2011 15:09

Wow!!! - At last I'm back - it's taken me over 3 weeks to catch up on the posts - I was ridiculously behind!! Definitely need to slow down now so keeping up to date with MN will be my excuse for a sit down and a bit of relaxation....

A massive congratulations to everyone who has had babies. I love all the names - Groovy - Sophia and Niamh are both on my short list too. BB3 - You are amazing, how on earth are you keeping up with MN with your 3 LOs - and btw they are beautiful and your DS looks so cute too!

So so sad to hear about cupoftea.
Amazed by the amount of support and the money raised to help her, there are some really lovely people out there.

Moly - I had no idea it was even possible to consume the placenta!! - What are the benefits? Is it the iron? Think I'll stick to chocolate and lots and lots of brie (missed it so much!) - after the birth....

Someone mentioned about nursing bras - I didn't buy mine until after the birth of my DD, just a couple of cheap sleeping bras will do the job of keeping the breast pads in place until you can get to the shops, and they are probably more comfortable while your milk is coming in.

Been getting loads of BH and mild period pains, and feet and ankles have started to swell - also TMI - have awful thrush, MW has prescribed pessaries now, cream for the last 6 weeks is just not working. Drinking loads of probiotic drinks and trying to stay cool - really want to get this sorted before LO makes an appearance. Bag not packed yet, but almost, and have spent all weekend sorting things out after scaring myself by thinking I was going into labour on Fri night and panicking because there's so much still to do....

Want to change my name on here as this is the one I had before my DD - but no idea how...can anyone help?

Will really try to stay with the posts and not get so behind again!!

Oh - and 37 + 3

Scheherezade · 02/10/2011 15:39

Hello all!

Oh my, I feel like I've lost out on so much, tried to read through everything that happened since I went into labour but there's just too much. Hope everyone is doing well - I noticed cheekydinos post about haemorraging, hope you are doing better now! And BB3 - how are those little girls?

My little boy is a week and one day now :) He was born at 37 weeks, weighed 6lbs 13. I'll put a pic on my profile soon enough :) as he was in breech the hospital wheeled me straight through to theatre for a c sec, the whole thing happened in a few hours, was very fast and took us all a bit by shock!

We were really worried at first as he wasn';t interested in feeding for the first few days, and we were having to force feed him with a cup. He just slept the whole time, and got jaundice. But the staff and midwives were excellent, and we stayed a couple extra nights in hospital to make sure we cracked breastfeeding. Which we did, and we're now home and doing very well :)

Visitors have been doing my head in, promising to come at 10.30am-11, and then not turning up till nearly pm, meaning I am sat waiting for them all day! We went to visit DPs dad who decided to throw a party without asking us first, so we get there to a garden full of BBQ smoke and people smoking and wanting to coo over the baby!

Will head to the baby announcements thread, hope everyone is doing well, I don't know how on earth I am going to try and catch up!!

Bubalie · 02/10/2011 17:53

Hello all, hope everyone is well. Just to let you know that i have had my baby boy last Thursday, so Luka Oliver was born on 29.09.11 weighing 7lb 9oz. Will read the thread as soon as I can and post an update.

Scheherezade · 02/10/2011 18:04
