Waters broken... Hormone drip in.... Baby should be here in a few hours xx

bilblio · 28/09/2011 10:13

Good Luck Leo! Oooh Exciting!

mpops · 28/09/2011 11:08

Hang on in there, Leo! Lots of good wishes for you and the baby!

Bubalie · 28/09/2011 11:18

Good luck Leo - hope you meet your baby soon :)

Well, I was in hospital this morning for monitoring as haven't felt the baby move much last night/this morning. All seems to be ok, good heartbeat and recorded some movements so she said nothing to worry about, but if I need to come in every day it's better to be on the safe side.. I was quite surprised as to how nice they were as I felt a bit bad for going as have felt the baby move but not as much as normal. Also when I get up for a loo in the middle of the night and get back to bed the baby is usually active for a bit and it was very quiet last night... On the bad note they asked me to do a wee sample and it registered positive for glucose, protein and blood?? My urine was always ok, so this was the first time, she asked me if I had any signs of urine infection but I don't?! Anyone else had this? She is sending it to be checked and has asked me to call them on Friday and see if the sample is back... :(

Since back from hospital I have had a lot of stretching and BH and tightening of the bump in general... Maybe things are moving in the right direction?

MamaMaiasaura · 28/09/2011 11:28

Exciting Leo Grin good luck xx

Still walking like I've been riding elephants.. Ouchie

TallyBear · 28/09/2011 11:32

Go baby Leo....We're all waiting for you.

Bu**er, forgot to order pineapple in the tescos shop. Don't think I'll bother with raspberry leaf tea. Like others I'm not a fan of fruit teas anyway. Would rather do the pineapple and curries, as I like them anyway. Still got three weeks or so to go though and not prepared yet so I'm not in a hurry if he's not!

Bubalie - hope your movements are back on track, although I've noticed a slight change in pattern since I finished work. Mw again mentioned yesterday there should be 10 movements over 12 hours. Not sure what counts as a movement as sometimes he does a full on continuous gymnastics routine for ages (does that only count as one?) and other times just a quick poke. Sometimes he does all his 10 movements in about 30 mins. Presume that still counts!

When do I start getting BH and how will I know?

Groovy I've had growth scans and they've not mentioned anything about weight, but someone from my NCT class had them at the same hospital and was told - perhaps it depends on the doctor. I'm having another scan on Weds so I will definitely ask this time as I want a bit of an indication as to what size clothes to buy. Got a few of different sizes but didn't want to go overboard buying too many small clothes.

I had what I thought was a (comparatively) decent night's sleep last night but still feel knackered today.

MamaMaiasaura · 28/09/2011 12:47

Bb3 - they said at least 6lb3 at 35 week scan. Femur length long and fat tummy. Head squashed down in pelvis so threw results a bit so likely it's bigger. Not much water and mostly baby. Last baby was 8lb14 at 39 weeks so I reckon this will be 9lb

Mimatchin · 28/09/2011 13:15

Tallybear did not really got the whole thin with movement as well...but baby is moving few times during the day and mostly at night when I go to bed or when I wake up in the morning. Rasperry leaf tea does not taste like fruit at all is more of a herbal tea.

Leo so excited...nearly there :)

Still no signs of whatever labour just a severe craving for chocolate. And I belong to those kind of people who never crave chocolate. Today it is chocolate mousse day 4 pots in less than 10 mins...

I' ve also ironed baby clothes they look much nicer and those little tiny things are super quick to iron.

bilblio · 28/09/2011 13:16

Groovy & Tally If you've got scan pictures from your growth scan it might say on there. On the left of my 34 week scan picture is says 4lb 5oz +/-10oz (they're not wonderfully accurate by that stage.)

I've had a wonderful morning. Got up with DD and took her to school, came home, played on computer for an hour, then went back to bed. :o I've just had lunch and I'm now going to sit in the sunshine on the front pulling out the giant weeds.

Bubalie · 28/09/2011 13:32

Tally my movements seem to be ok now, although since I've come back home I have had lots of tightening of the bump, I think it's BH, I've never had this many!! In regards to your movements, they do say that with every week baby is running out of room so your movement feel may change. I have never been concerned before as long as I could feel/see the baby move, but since that growth scan at 36 weeks the mw's have freaked me out even putting in my notes ANY change (any underlined and in caps) in movements to be reported so I guess I gave in this morning as was worried last night. Last week mw said that what they don't like to see if your baby has got a pattern (i.e. my baby usually moves a lot between 8-10 pm) and you notice reduced movements in that pattern that you should report it. I hope this helps you, but obviously if you want to get checked call your maternity triage as mw this morning said to me that if I want to come back every day to be monitored that's ok.

In regards to washing and ironing baby clothes, I've done all that 3 weeks ago, I looked into baby's hospital bag yesterday to show one of my friends what I've packed for hospital and noticed that all the baby clothes are all creased up again as been in hospital bag for 3 weeks! It took me ages to wash and iron it all!!!

I also had a growth scan at 36 weeks and they did estimate baby's weight to be 6lb6oz, so I suppose some hospitals still do it, not sure if different in Scotland?

TallyBear · 28/09/2011 13:48

It's time for LO's post lunch workout. He obviously enjoyed the Magnum classic, Cajun chicken wrap and strawberry cheesecake! (yes, in that order!) Mw didn't mention about patterns, just that if I noticed reduced movements I should go in to be monitored. He seems to be keeping it up though.

Bilblio they didn't do photos for my growth scans. Only printouts, but I don't think it mentioned about weight - I will check though, now you mention it.

Everyone's making me feel really guilty with the whole ironing baby clothes thing, so I may need to do some (once I've washed them!).

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 28/09/2011 14:15

Well I'm treating myself today, just had facial, mani/pedi and foot massage now on way to get hair done. I like being good to myself ;-)

bilblio · 28/09/2011 14:28

It's too hot outside! and the people at the bus stop opposite look concerned about the very pregnant lady gardening. :o

tally If it makes you feel any better I've not ironed anything for LO. I avoid ironing unless absolutely necessary... even though I quite enjoy it.

Right cooled down, pint of juice drank, just enough time to finish the garden before collecting DD.

Jane4321 · 28/09/2011 14:48

Tried to go into town just now to buy nursing bras (haven't got any yet - and do I need night time ones too?!) but too hot and tiring. Got as far as the corner shop where I bought ice cream and grapes (to even-out the ice cream) and turned back for home. Will have to go into town with DH at the weekend.

Hope everyone is coping with the sudden heat, I for one love it until i have to do anything too strenuous!

We are kindly requesting that LO makes her appearance soon - Monday would be ideal please - as DH has just got new job and if she comes at due date would make paternity leave etc complicated! Pineapple...bouncing on ball...curry ...etcetc :)

Happy Wednesday!

mpops · 28/09/2011 15:30

The heat is killing me. I can't sleep at all! Last night I went to bed at midnight and by 1am I'd given up and was on the sofa reading my book, drinking water while the LO was dancing about.

I always worry about movements although I've only been to the hospital to have them checked once. It's a hard one, isn't it, especially at this stage. I'm of the opinion that if you're worried and it's disrupting your thoughts and stuff, you're better off visiting the hospital to get checked. It's just not worth the anxiety.

Just bought some fresh pineapple. It's bound to work, right? Grin

39 weeks today

TallyBear · 28/09/2011 15:35

bilblio obviously had the same idea as I decided to pull up some of the rather large weeds out the front as well. Front is south-facing; bad idea. Now boiling hot. Not even sure if we have an ice cubes ready, as weather been so bad recently. Certainly not complaining about the heat but now I'm even more glad I'm on ml and don't have to do the commute on a busy train. Sorry for all those not finished yet - hope you don't have too much longer to go.

And thanks for making me feel a bit better about ironing! Smile

Jane I've not bought any special bras yet. Need to start thinking about that I guess.

TallyBear · 28/09/2011 15:38

Oh, little while ago we had a leaflet through the door for an Indian take-away. Spent 10 mins browsing through the menu to decide what I would 'order'. Grin Mmmm, might keep hold of that for a few weeks time!

chocolatehobnobs · 28/09/2011 16:32

Hello everybody, Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Still working - can't wait till Mat leave starts. Last day tomorrow before 11 months off. Yay!

Congratulations on the new babies. Thanks for posting the birth stories - a great idea. So preparation for baby starts in earnest next week. Any advice on nursing bras and nighties?

I'm on the back seat of the bus with EDD 30th October so still only 35+4 but have been having lots of Braxton Hicks and tightenings since 26 weeks so maybe I won't go full term. Have been trying to swim lots, its absolute bliss as it seems to be the only way i can get comfortable at the moment. Really fed up of the discomfort at trying to turn over at night now.

MamaMaiasaura · 28/09/2011 16:42

Wonder how Leo is doing x

sassy34264 · 28/09/2011 16:44

had my 36 week scan and consultant appointment for birth plan this morning. saw the same consultant! what is wrong with the world? she says she is happy for me to try for a vb. i find it exasperating that i could have seen a different consultant and they might have said no though.

anyway the baby has put on a 1lb since last time and is now estimated at 7lbs 6oz. the consultant also said that i was showing none of the classic sugns of having a diabetic baby, so basically i just make big babies and its nothing to do with my gd. on the bad side, she says this means she would be quite happy for me to go to 40 weeks.......nooooooooooo! get out, get out! Grin she threw me a lifeline with a sweep 2 weeks today. i have flat out refused an induction. never had a sweep and no little about them. anyone had one and how long until labour started?

sassy34264 · 28/09/2011 16:46

36 today.

the countdown has begun.......

PenguinArmy · 28/09/2011 16:59

so I've got a appointment with the VBAC clinic for next Fri, when I'll be 38+6 Hmm. Apparently someone is going to ring me back tomorrow to see if I can get int this weeks clinic but they are doubtful. If I decide to go for a CS I see them saying they can't a s they are all booked.

chocolatehobnobs · 28/09/2011 17:16

Penguin - have you had trouble getting other appointments. We live near each other and I have had a bad time being fitted in for scans and MW appointments. I'm wondering if there is a baby boom - makes me worry if there will be room at the inn...

CheshireDing · 28/09/2011 17:37

bub I found that this weekend too, checked Porgeys clothes in the hospital bag and they were all creased, even though I had spent 50 years ironing it's ridiculous pile of clothes!

Felt sick all day today and the bakewell tart didn't improve things, got a bit of a crampy tum too so then started having the fear that my waters would break at work and it would be super embarassing.

Got our curtain donkey tie backs now, a couple of canvasses and mobile for the cot, am not too impressed with Mammas and Pappas furniture, it's expensive for the quality if the wood they have used, I can't see the cot lasting to be a cot bed if it's gets banged into and things.

bilblio · 28/09/2011 18:33

Bras- my advice is don't go overboard buy 2 at most, and preferably cheap ones. I bought 2 bras about 3 weeks before having DD, I didn't realise how much my rib cage had expanded, 6"! I was mortified at first thinking it was weight gain. 2 weeks after when things had shrunk back they were HUGE on me. At the moment I'm wearing nursing bras I had for DD, but 9 months ago my rib measurement was 4" less so I'm not buying any new ones until a few weeks after LO arrives.
I didn't have night time bras, feeding in the night meant I just wore nursing bras all the time.

I've decided against button front nighties too. I only wore one in hospital last time so I'm not wasting my money. I'll wear 2 vest tops instead and a cardy/jacket if I need it.

I saw the doctor today about my asthma & cough. I'm now on antibiotics for a chest infection, plus a course of steroids. They will impact on LO, (improved lung function, but suppressed adrenal gland) but doctor decided it was worth doing.
Hopefully by the end of the week I'll feel like a new woman. I really hope so!
