FINALLY able to catch up! Hope i havent been thrown off this bus for lack of posts Grin

so im just home from hospital. had app with mw this morning. was telling her how baby had been a little quiet last night and no movements as yet when i was seeing her (10.30am) so i got a big lecture about how i should have been up having a trace done last night etc, so i got sent straight up after id seen her! trace got put on for 30 mins, everything with heart fine but again, not much movement! sent down for a scan, everything looked good (baby even has chubby cheeks!) so sent back up to speak with consultant. waited a few hours (she kicked once) then managed to speak with him. he said even thought all the charts looked perfectly fine, the slow down of movements was a concern. he done an internal exam and said my cervix isnt fully open and still high but was able to do a sweep. have to monitor movements tonight and if no change by tomorrow, to go back up and they will look at an induction date!! kinda hoping that either i go into labour tonight/tomorrow or she wakes up a bit and starts kicking again! my brother is getting married on saturday and really dont want to miss wedding! is there anything i can do to try help the sweep work? eating a rather hot curry just now and boucning on ball between mouthfuls Grin!

cant wait to hear an update from leo if baby is here yet.

hope everyone else is good! all this talk of dime bar cheesecakes is making my mouth water........ will check back soon xx

CheshireDing · 27/09/2011 17:57

groovy I am sure there is an aromatherapy mixture which is supposed to be really effective for starting labour, can't remember what it is though. Either someone else will see or I will let you know when DH comes back from messing with his bees in a bit.

2 days left at work

GroovyRach · 27/09/2011 18:20

oh thanks cheshire! is it 'clarysage'? i looked at this in Holland and Barrett a few days ago but they wanted £10 for a tiny bottle Hmm. decided just to leave it! just getting so anxious now as its getting so close to wedding. would be absolute sods law that she decided she is cooked and ready to come out on fri Confused

MrsP81 · 27/09/2011 18:24

groovy I hope we don't get thrown off the bus for lack of posts or I'd be long gone! Hope things kick off for you soon.

Good luck leo, I wonder if baby has arrived yet?

I have good intentions of ironing the baby clothes but whether I actually will remains to be seen! I'm not very good at ironing my own clothes so there isn't much hope.

We are currently waiting on some wardrobe door handles from M&P as they were rusty when we unpacked them. Had an email to say they've been despatched so fingers crossed.

3 more days at work, woo hoo!

Leo4 · 27/09/2011 20:48

Baby hasn't arrived yet.... Very slow labour....will post as soon as I can...,:(

GroovyRach · 27/09/2011 20:58

Aww Leo! Sending u speedy labour vibes....

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 27/09/2011 21:22

Have been trying for over an hour now to get DS to stay in bed, really starting to think I've bitten off more than I can chew by having another Sad DH and I still haven't eaten any dinner and he has now taken over bedtime as I was starting to lose patience!

Have bought raspberry leaf tea today (did someone say that helps bring on labour?)

Leo best of luck with labour hopefully it's not too much longer for you.

CheshireDing · 27/09/2011 21:25

groovy it's evening primrose oil and you put it up your lady bits, or the mw does it for you.

Clarysage makes the contractions stronger but you have to be in labour first.

Lavender is for relaxation and is recommended too.

This is what hypo teacher told us anyway and DH has researched it in between so I have no knowledge but apparently in our hospital the mw have said the evening primrose oil has been 80% effective.

GroovyRach · 27/09/2011 22:02

Thanks Cheshire I'll def try pick some up 2mrw Grin

Don't think the sweep has done much, not feeling anything more than I already have. Just hoping this little girly starts moving soon, and I can put off induction till atleast Sunday. I can't miss my brothers wedding Sad

Just had some strong tea and chocolate. Hopefully the sugar and caffeine will produce some kicks!!

bilblio · 27/09/2011 22:09

Edward Raspberry leaf tea is meant to help speed up labour, and make it easier as it softens up the cervix (I think) it doesn't bring it on though, but they do say not to have it before 34 or 36 weeks.
IMO it tastes foul. I think I still have some in the cupboard from DD... it's probably out of date. You can get raspberry leaf tea tablets though.

I'd read that Clarysage can bring on labour.

Leo Thinking of you, good luck.

mpops a few more things have been thrown in the direction of the hospital bag. I will pack it tomorrow. I promise. :o

Had a busy day today. More nesting, at a slower pace though as period type pains were still bad, plus the SPD. DH is being so doting, getting up with DD, and letting me sleep. Constantly asking me if I want anything and looking very stressed with all the nesting. I'll go nuts if I don't do it though. I'm letting him help, but he knows it's all hormones so he daren't tell me to sit down and rest too often. :o In-laws came and took us out for lunch. Then had a MW appointment, I'm now measuring the correct size, I've been measuring a couple of cm's short. Spoke to the MW about my asthma (handily I was in the middle of a coughing fit when she came to get me from the waiting room.) She agrees I need something stronger so I'm seeing a doctor again tomorrow.

Right bed now. Wednesday night is my traditional night out. Knitting group, then on to the pub for the quiz. I'm not so sure if I'll be fit for any more, so I'm determined to get there tomorrow.

Mimatchin · 27/09/2011 22:20

Chesshire Back from Ikea ..I did not know about Dime Bar Cheesecake :(
next time I'll get that for sure. There was not the huge chocolate bars anymore just small once some which do not taste as good as the other once :(

However, the good thing is that I've got very good stuff without spending too much money Grin

Edward Rasperry Leaf does not bring on labour it helps to tone the muscles of the uterus. It is also said to ease labour, you have to start drinking it few weeks before your due date but it is also advisable to drink it during labour. I am certainly get 2 full bottles of evian of rasperry leaf tea in my maternity bag as you can also drink it cold. I replaced all my hot and cold drinks with rasperry leaf tea for a couple of weeks now..hoping it really works.

Penelope1980 · 27/09/2011 22:21

Arwen measuring 41 weeks? Big baby!

I have nothing to report apart from lots of comments on bump size, and have noticed that when I am out I get more little smiles from people as I waddle past them. I am over sleeping poorly though, between aches, pains, swelling, cramps and odd insomnia I feel like I am going crazy at times. Sleep hasn't really been a problem for me in pregnancy until the last couple of weeks and now it's terrible. I am sure you all understand!

It seems a little mean of biology that you can't sleep well in the period before having a baby and getting even less sleep then.

groovy hope your wee girl is OK and that things hold on until sunday!

Penelope1980 · 27/09/2011 22:24

Maybe I will give the rasberry tea a go as well then. The only thing I am trying is to go for a walk each day, even though said walk is becoming shorter and harder each day.

GroovyRach · 27/09/2011 22:42

I'm loving the raspberry tea Grin!! Do have to put a sweetener in it tho, but I do enjoy a cup at night before bed. Prob not been drinking it as much as I maybe should but hey!

GroovyRach · 27/09/2011 22:47

Ment to add, do you think it's ok that I can 'see' her moving, just not feeling it really? I'm laying on couch and if I rub over my tummy, I can see little movements, just don't feel them like I guess I normally would. Consultant and mw did both comment on how long she seems, so surely it's just a case of 'lack of space'?

MamaMaiasaura · 27/09/2011 23:42

Thanks groovy for replying on other thread. :) I took raspberry leaf tea with ds2 and think it helped. Not managed to get any for this monkey yet. Re movement, midwife said at least 10 moves a day but likely to be less vigourus as running out of room.

CheshireDing · 28/09/2011 02:45

I reckon that's right Bilb about the clarysage because they don't want you to use it beforehand so it must bring labour on.

I have been popping the raspberry leaf tea - 2 a day and now on to 2 tablets a day too, I put a bit of honey in the tea as I am not really in to herbal/fruit teas.

I see my tummy rippling sometimes Groovy when Porgey is squirming about in there, is it like that or is she just sticking an elbow or something out? :)

Soooo over sleeping Pene, this last week has been the worst ever :(

Don't forget the pineapple too Groovy, although that's not for putting up your ladies bits Grin

BB3 · 28/09/2011 06:00

Morning all

Leo keep up the good work! It'll all be worth it in the end!

Awen did they give you any idea of baby weight?

bilblio that's some major nesting - make sure you're getting some rest in between!!

groovy if you had baby today or tomorrow could you not still go to brothers wedding but take baby with you?

Eurgh I remember rlt with DS - the stuff made me gag hot or cold (am not a fruit tea person full stop) and for me personally didn't seem to make any difference! (I probably didnt drink it enough). Although some people swear by it

Penelope1980 · 28/09/2011 06:13

groovy I count movements that I can see and not feel, and work from the assumption I can't feel every moment at all after having a scan 2 weeks ago when I could see him moving but not feel it!

I had my first internal at the midwife's today, and have been really uncomfy ever since (ie pain in the lower stomach) - do you all get that too? The good news is I am moving in the right direction and she says that I am unlikely to go more than a week further and very possibly much sooner. Yay! I am also 2cm dilated which was a surprise, not that it means anything at this stage without other symptoms, but still good to know Smile

cheshire hope you had a good sleep last night!

BB3 · 28/09/2011 06:20

mrsp yay for three more days

Edward hope DS settled ok in the end. We've been trying to wear out DS in the day so he zonks but it's hit and miss so far.

mim glad ikea trip was a success I've never seen the dime bar cheesecake either I must look out for it next time!

BB3 · 28/09/2011 06:29

Re sleep isn't it supposed to prepare you for broken sleeps when the babies come (I'd rather have had more sleep before!!)

GroovyRach · 28/09/2011 06:36

Morning all! I have an early start as off to pick up family from airport shortly. Everyone starting to arrive for wedding on Saturday. bb3 yeah, if she did arrive before sat, I can always take her with me, plans have been made to accommodate baby but I'm just getting worried about how close it's getting now and if I'd even be out of hospital in time! Said to my mum that I could always discharge myself on sat morning and turn up to church in my p.js Grin. I'd look a riot, but that's to be expected eh?! Lol

penelope I was surprised at how uncomfy I found the sweep Blush. He did say tho that my cervix wasent fully open amd still high so I guess that explains the pain. Tummy was so crampy straight after, like period was on it's was (god, how I'm not looking forward to that again after 9 mnths!) but it did settle down. Just got some back ache now. Good to hear things are going the right way for you Smile

awen hope u got a good sleep. I think I only woke up once trying to turn! It is reassuring to hear from people that spd does go away. My mw yesterday however wasent very sympathetic when I tried to tell her how much pain I was in. Was almost a case of 'put up and shut up, you've not got long left' Angry

Oh how I hate the dark mornings, apparently to be 20 degrees in Glasgow today so shouldn't complain to much. Have lovely day everyone!!! X

GroovyRach · 28/09/2011 06:46

Oh and re movements, yeah can just see little ripples. Felt a bit more since I woke up so I'll be reporting that today. I don't know if things are diff here in Scotland, but I asked during scan yesterday if she could give an indication/estimate of her weight, but she said they don't do that anymore! The local trust stopped looking at that and plotting on the centile (?) chart a few years back. I had thought someone was just forgetting to fill that part of my book in! So I have not a clue what she will be. I'm not overly huge and haven't put much weight on. Shall be a surprise!!! Just laughed at how consultant and mw both at different times yesterday commented on how long she felt! I'm 5ft7 and her dad around 6ft. Might have big long lanky legs!!!

Oh hurry up baby lol. Just want to meet her now Smile

Penelope1980 · 28/09/2011 07:41

groovy I found the exam quite sore, and for the first time am starting to think about the pain of labour! Oh well ... a little late to worry about that now ... Grin

GroovyRach · 28/09/2011 07:53

Penelope yeah I text my friend after sayin how sore I felt it. Her reply 'if you found that sore, your in for a rough couple of days Grin'

Oh my, too late now to back out!!
