Phlossie-Glad all is well with Jeff :)

BillC-lol! What a dickhead driver tut.

littlemonkeybix · 20/09/2011 17:20

Wee-ish story!! hope this helps your blushes bill

When on holiday with my ex yonks ago, on our bus back to the airport he decided he needed a wee (I had done the mum thing "are you sure you dont need to go" before leaving hotel, he didnt....) so the bus kindly stopped en route at a little service station. He got off, along with about 10 others!!!

he got back on the bus, so did the others... fine.... the bus pulls away from the service station... CRASH! Took the side off an estate car with 5 people in!!

I was ashamed!! Fortunately everyone in both vehicles were fine, but there were a few people looking at those who had got off with glaring eyes!! And my then BF was in for most stares as it was him that made the bus stop!!

We made the airport in just enough time, instead of in plenty of time.... but I was properly Blush

Purpletoes · 20/09/2011 17:44

just marking my spot. off to Rome for the weekend reading all the wee stories I need to plan my days carefully as bean using bladder as trampoline at moment!

20 weeks tomorrow but scan not till 22 weeks seems ages away lots of wriggles!

InnocentRedhead · 20/09/2011 18:06

Oh bill that story is fantastic, however my face is burning for you. I was expecting a bottle story but that is fantastic!! And yes, that wee was purely fantastic, in Morrison's loos with their lovely blue lighting.

phlossie Does that mean you will need a later scan - I am not 100% sure what an anterior placenta is... Oh and funny you should mention the fire evacuation at the hospital. While I was on said bus journey, I ended up speaking to the mate who was with me about hospital fire evacuations and how they would do it, e.g with ICU, surgery etc. etc. Ended up with a rather long conversation about how they would evacuate moving patients like those in A&E and then they would assess each ward individually as to the distance from the fire. It is a new hospital too so a tall building.

InnocentRedhead · 20/09/2011 18:08

Oooh purpletoes enjoy your holiday!!!
And Ouch monkey, glad everyone was OK, but it wasn't just your BFs fault!!

pinkhollie · 20/09/2011 18:32

Gonerogue your coping brilliantly I hope all goes as well as it can do.

bill I loved the story you were very resourceful.

I've been feeling good full of energy in the day but sooooo tired at night. A bit achey round the middle but i'm sure it's all just stretching pains.

I'm v jealous of all the scans ours is 2 weeks yesterday when I'll be 21 weeks exactly.

phlossie · 20/09/2011 19:07

Happy holidays purpletoes!

Innocent - anterior placenta just means it's at the front, ie, under my belly button. It's not a problem, so I won't need a scan. It just means that I might not be able to feel Jeff's movements so well because I have an extra cushion between her/him and me.

ZhenXiang · 20/09/2011 19:07

Hello everyone, very chatty on this new thread today :)

Bill great story, I have been so desperate before I have peed in between two parked cars in broad daylight (on a quiet street of course).

Innocent - I have anterior placenta too, it just means it is on the front wall of your uterus rather than the back.

Went for 16 week appt today, they didn't check heartbeat just blood pressure etc... Don't have to see midwife until 34 week appointment at the VBAC clinic. Am glad seeing GP is much easier :)

17+1 - two weeks until my scan

InnocentRedhead · 20/09/2011 19:14

Ohh, I get it now, I think I got it mixed up with the one where there placenta is over the cervix - you need a further scan for that don't you? Suppose you will be glad of the extra cushion when LO tries kicking you in the ribs!!

In 10 days I will have seen little one :o Cannot wait!! Feeling lots of lovely little movement, seems to be in a pattern roughly feeling them for 20 mins then a rest of 1 hour and then another 20mins etc. If that makes sense :o

m1nn1em0u5e · 20/09/2011 20:54

Oooh just marking my place :)

Gonerogue, so sorry to hear about your Dad, you sound a very strong lady x

Horrendous day in work today, im so tired, off to bed, pregnancy 3rd time around with a husband who works away is tough!....

PDog · 20/09/2011 21:05

gonerouge so sorry to hear your news. Having had a close friend go through something similar recently you are very much in my thoughts. Hope you and your family get some precious memories with your dad.

phlossie good news on your scan, hopefully that will put your at rest for awhile at least Wink.

bill Grin that cheered me up thanks.

I have horrible back ache today, have a bad cough and still haven't felt baby move Sad.

louby86 · 20/09/2011 21:21

Hello everyone on our new shiny bus!

Lovely news about scans! Struggling to keep up with the thread on my phone, going to have to put a stop to DH taking the laptop to work with him Grin

Been really mardy yesterday and today, must have scared DH, he's just booked us a weekend to London next weekend in an attempt to cheer me up, bless him. I've done nothing but apologise to him since I got home from work Blush

Emz33 · 20/09/2011 21:53

Hello all, marking my spot!
Still haven't felt any movements myself. Well I don't think so anyway. Lots of things going on down there but don't think they are the baby!
Have 20 week scan next thurs, can't wait. I'll be 20 weeks exactly!

BillComptonstrousers · 20/09/2011 22:00

Good god this bus is busy! We need one of those bendy ones like they have in manchester and split us into groups Grin

Great news phlossie love going for scans.

Thanks to the people who shared their shame with me, I have a huge amount of crap and embarrassing stories, for all occasions.

I feel sick after DD1 made melting middle cookies for me at tea time and I ate too many, then watched the british bake off which just made me feel sicker :-(

Baby is kicking like mad at this time on a night, she just won't lie still, and the other DD's keep calling her by the name we have chosen, but it feels a bit weird, like a bit unlucky? I'm going to ask them to stop calling her by that name and just call her baby for now. Or is that weird on my part? Jesus, I sound like an old woman!

I'm starting to be able to distinguish where certain bits of her are now as well, hard lump on my left lower abs is her bum etc, etc. After the midwife showed me. Hope some of you start getting some big kicks soon!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 20/09/2011 22:08

I've been getting daily movements for over a week now - more active, but hadn't had any proper KICKS until the other day. It felt like minime took a running jump at me, like Father Ted kicking Bishop Brennan up the erse. I actually shouted "ow!"

PamBeesly · 20/09/2011 22:13

TheWicketKeeperIsDown Grin at Fr.Ted kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse, I'll have to youtube that now

Thanks for sharing that Bill hahahaha

Has anyone felt a heaviness in their stomach? Mine felt very very heavy today like I was carrying around bricks inside my stomach, just for a few minutes and after a big walk

BillComptonstrousers · 20/09/2011 22:19

I had that today pam, after walking to the local shops, it was very uncomfortable by the time I got home, felt like a lead weight in my tummy.

Apart from Pdog, is anyone else in durham/north east? Midwife has been a bit rubbish about telling me about any aqua natal/ yoga type things going on, I really need to start back on some exercise!

MrsHuxtable · 20/09/2011 22:31

Hello everyone,
I hope it's ok to rejoin the bus. I was on it when it first started but got too anxious about the whole thing and never posted again.

I'm 19+3 weeks pregnant with my first baby. We had a gender scan a couple of weeks ago which showed that we are, without a doubt, having a girl, just as I always wanted. I had my 20 week scan today, at 11.20 (so at the same time as Phlossie) and all seemed fine so I'm finally ready to relax a bit about this pregnancy and start posting on this bus.

I've been very sick with hyperemesis since 6 weeks, have spent loads of time in hospital with it and have not been back to work ever since as I'm still being sick too much (I work with food).

I don't leave the house a lot because I got fed up of spewing in various public toilets and people looking at me like I'm bulimic and because I have no other children yet, I'm bored out of my mind.

We have decided on a name, well kind of. We know what her nickname will be and we know the middle name but we're still a little unsure about which version of the first name we will pick. I'm very happy to elaborate on the name issue if someone is interested.

Do you all have big bumps yet?

PamBeesly · 20/09/2011 22:33

Hi MrsH congratulations on the girl! I think so far girls are the majority on this bus so she wll be in good company.
I feel for you having to go to hospital because of sickness, it must be horrible. I'd say stay at home and relax as mch as you can.
I am 17+4 and I've no discernible bump, I just look fat (even though others say I don't but they are probably just being polite)

BillComptonstrousers · 20/09/2011 22:35

Glad to see you are feeling a bit more positive, but crap that you still feeling so sick :-(

We always want to hear names, I'm having a girl as well, but this is my third!

OP posts:
BillComptonstrousers · 20/09/2011 22:37

Wish I could get my arse in gear and post a picture of my bump, it's so bloody big and sticky outy, I look like I have a football up my jumper!

OP posts:
MrsHuxtable · 20/09/2011 22:49

It's just so draining. It's been 14 weeks now without a nausea / vomit free day. I'm really exited now to hear about other people who are due around the same time as me.

Just to warn you, I'm German (DH is Scottish), so I have gotten a few funny looks from friends here about our name choice Grin.

So, Baby Huxtable will be called Frieda (pron. fre-da) for short. Her middle name will be Sophia, after one of my sisters who will also be her godmother. Now, the official first name will either be and I'm not sure if there is a big pronunciation difference for English speakers..

Frederika
Friederika
Frederike or
Friederike

I somehow think that it would be easier to pronounce for English speakers if we use one of the versions ending in -a. My favourite so far is Frederika Sophia, called Frieda. Phew, I hope that makes sense...

MrsHuxtable · 20/09/2011 22:51

Also, I'm definitely having a bump now as well. Not massive but it's there alright making it quite uncomfortable to sleep without my lovely dreamgenii pillow..

BillComptonstrousers · 20/09/2011 22:58

Frederika is lovely, and sophia was on my list of names, DH wanted sophie, so we had to change it as we couldn't agree on sophia/sophie.

And by a weird coincedence, I'm just this minute reading a book about scottish immigrants who settle in america, and are living near a german settlement in salem, bizzare!

OP posts:
MrsHuxtable · 20/09/2011 23:07

Oh, Sophia is a beautiful name. Am a little jealous of my sister tbh..
So what kind of names are you thinking of now? Do you know yet what you're having?
