Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Xavielli · 04/10/2011 19:25

Yes pdog, unfortunately that sounds like how my SPD starts.

Mccar - so angry on your nans behalf! I hope her knee heals quickly and an glad that atleast her family is looking after her, many 80 year olds don't have even that! Ugh, gone all teary now.

I've got a waddle already too, but thankfully when I'm in public I've always got the buggy to lean on so hope it's not so obvious.

Never had pee leakage but I always have a ridiculous amount of discharge when pregnant. Towards the end I have to wear pads, mind you this is partly paranoia as my show usually just consists of bright red blood which I'd rather didn't trickle down my leg!!

I've stopped sulking about not knowing the sex now. It's not the end of the world although I am really struggling to see it as anything other than a girl!

ZhenXiang · 04/10/2011 20:43

Congrats on the girl Louby and the boy Crazybit :)

Went for scan today, very clear view of everything except I had to go to the loo for sonographer to see spine and sex.

As I thought we are having another girl, DH is chuffed as he wanted a girl :) Looks just like her older sister did at 20 weeks!

Innocent sorry to hear it is tonsilitis, I had this recently, pus and all, [yuk emoticon] it went without anitibiotics in my case, but I took vitamin C 100mg soluble a day plus the honey, lemon and ginger concoction and had lots of extra sleep and it eventually went by itself. Hope you feel better soon x

I agree Innocent being a Londoner that they are the most impolite and selfish people when it comes to helping/giving up seats/general manners that I have come across in the UK.

Lilmonkey hope the uti gets treated quickly, they are never pleasant. Your dinner sounds great, what my gran calls nursery food :)

PDog sounds like could be SPD or sciatica which I got with last pregnancy, if it doesn't improve go to GP and if you can get referral to physio asap as it can take a while to get an appointment and gets worse as baby gets bigger.

babycarmen · 04/10/2011 21:06

PDog it sounds a bit like SPD, if it gets worse speak to your midwife or GP and they might refer you for physio or give you a back brace for support, hope it gets better soon!

So tired today, feel run down, hope im not coming down with something :( Staying home tomorrow to rest. DD is stressing me out, shes at that stage where she acts as if youve physically caused her pain when you tell her no.. sigh... And i get to go through all this again Grin

crazybit you asked about the loop excision thing - I asked my MW about it at booking appointment and she did a consultant referral IN CASE of incompetent cervix. It was in the section about past medical history etc in my notes. Not sure how much of a risk it is but the fact that they were looking for "funnelling" - and that it has a name - suggests that it's something that CAN happen. Maybe you could ask your MW about it at the next appointment? I don't want to scare or anything because I have to say that nobody has at any point said to me "oh that's something we'll need to keep an eye on" or anything like that - and nobody has mentioned "high risk" - in fact the consultant referral was kind of arranged in a "bottom covering" sort of way, IYSWIM. Maybe I'm being a bit unfair and I mean "better safe than sorry" but I'm not particularly impressed with our community midwives so far.

innocent sending you positive tonsil vibes...tonsillitis is nasty at the best of times - hope you feel better soon. Drink lots of nice hot drinks and take it easy!

Everyone who mentioned the "waddle" - I'm so glad it's not just me! I am feeling HUUUGE and now it's been pointed out to me I'm really noticing the waddle myself. I've posted pics of the bump but it seems to have grown since Friday when I took the pics! How much bigger is it going to get?! AND I stood on the scales today and I've put on about 1.5 stone - not been weighed since booking appointment so it was a bit of a surprise. Hope I don't get told off at the next appointment. It's just that I'm sooooo hungry all the time! Grin

Agree about the masses of pink clothes for little girls too. What happened to yellow or blue? Or red or green? The other thing that I found was a bit "troubling" (or maybe I'm being a prude?) was the amount of clothing for girls which is just IMO way too old for them. My niece (7-y-o) had some Next vouchers to spend from her b'day so I took her shopping and had to employ some serious tactical approaches to prevent her from going home with a bagful of stuff that, not to put too fine a point on it, made her look like a slut far older and less "innocent" than is the reality. Is it just me? Am I turning into my mother??

Oh and I'm shocked at the attitude from Midlanders too mummy - being a relatively new incomer (14 years in Worcestershire after growing up in Kent) I've generally been pleasantly surprised at how friendly people are in the Midlands. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't leave my doors unlocked or anything, but I've always found the majority of people quite willing to help etc. Nice to hear Nan's being pampered though.

mummymccar · 04/10/2011 22:13

Thank you everyone for the lovely comments. She seems to be doing much better today - the pampering is obviously doing her good! I've booked tickets to go see her in a couple of weeks too (earliest I could get) so she'll be getting some pampering from me too!

Innocent - No wonder you were feeling so poorly! Tonsillitis is awful - get well soon!

Zhen - Congratulations on the little girl!

PDog - It definitely sounds like the start of SPD. I started to get it at about 12 weeks too and went to see a chiropractor who sorted it right out. My legs, pelvis and hips were agony when I went and I could barely walk or sit without being in agony but he just adjusted it in less than 5 minutes and it has been much better since. I highly recommend chiropractors!
This baby is really taking its toll on my back now and I've had to bring my appointment forward by a week to Monday. Is anyone else having any back pain?

Kayano · 04/10/2011 22:25

No back pain as such but my god the sciatica!!! Pain all down my left side! Groin, hip and thigh! It's bloody horrible!!!

Can a doctor do anything for that? I have had it on and off for years pre pregnancy but didn't realise it would be so bloody uncomfortable.

What's the difference between that and spd? It bugs me sitting down at work more than walking tbh ATM Angry

woowa · 04/10/2011 23:13

DD vomited all over everywhere this evening, leaving me worried about getting asick bug myself. ug. Fortunately MIL, who i was dreading, was here to help clean up. Turns out it was exasctly the right time for her to be here, like it was arranged from above Grin

Got another scan tomorrow (sorry people still waiting for 20 week). This one is to check my placenta, then i've got to see grumpy consultant again. She was so lovely at 12 weeks, 21 weeks she was quite grumpy. hope she's back to normal. Glad MIL is here (again!) to go and have fun with DD while i sit around in hospital all aftrenoon. Hope baby doesn't accidentally tell us if boy or girl!! Will make sure sonographer knows to hide it like she did last time!

VERY tired, way past my bedtime.

23 weeks today, eek!

spookshowangellovesit · 05/10/2011 09:21

phew, i totally lost you lot. some body linked me in a thread to this but i didnt know where it actually was.
its my scan day today at 2 pm very excited and more than a little bit nervous shouldnt be as feeling loads of movement etc but you know.
i feel your pain kayano sciatica wise, mine is just starting to kick in as it always does around this time. always suffered from it on and off.
i should be packing but i just cant be arsed.......motivate me somebody please.

littlemonkeybix · 05/10/2011 10:17

Glad to hear of the pampering Mummy, poor nanna... people are shits aren't they!?

Hope all the sickness/illness clears up soon... Tonsils = booooo! And hoping the sick bug doesn't spread, yuck!

Feeling a bit better today, mind at ease, and sample delivered! Phoning the surgery @1 to see what they can tell me. And typical.... today there was nothing to show!

I've also been a baddy! Grin Got myself some supermarket "sushi" for lunch. Mostly veg and tuna mayo type affair, but there's a smoked salmon one.... It's only a 1inch by 2 inch piece.... Might just have to scoff it quick as lightning so peeps in the office don't shout at me Wink I've been so bloody good about every damned thing... surely 1 piece can't make me spontaneously combust! Can it??!! Hmm

babycarmen · 05/10/2011 10:48

Well so much for a day of relaxing today.. DP is off work apparently and DD is coughing everywhere so staying home from nursery. Sigh. And seen as neither of them can tidy up after themselves il probably be on my feet all day!

P.S Yes im in a grump, thanks hormones.

littlemonkeybix · 05/10/2011 11:40

Carmen can you feign some kind of mild illness and spend the day in bed??! Wink Get DP to wait on you hand and foot... hehehe! What's a little white lie between friends??!

diedandgonetodevon · 05/10/2011 13:03

Am on phone so just a quick one. Will catch up with personals later.

Have my second attempt at a 20 week scan in two hours. Feeling rather nervous as I just hope baby plays ball this time. It's wriggling around like a good 'un, so fingers crossed he/she will not decide to hide against the placenta again this time.
Was so bruised by the sonographers last attempts to get into a position to see what she needed to that I was in pain for the rest of the day...really hope this doesn't happen again.
Am trying to think positive, exhibitionist thoughts- baby had better pick up on them this time Grin

Good luck Devon... if you get some tunes on, will your bub have a dance do youthink??!! Wink

My tests came back clear... and my symptoms have gone.... Going to leave it now as I have appointments at the hospital next week anyway, so unless it happens again, I'll just mention it there. If it does happen again, I'll make an appointment!

Hope we're all having a good day.

louby86 · 05/10/2011 13:25

Good luck devon ,the person that booked us in for our 4d scan said to drink something sugary an hour before we go so maybe you could try that if the little one isn't behaving!

Glad to see everything is ok monkey

Sugar80 · 05/10/2011 13:49

We'd like to join team PINK please :)

Very happy and excited!! Little wriggly girlie striking lots of poses - DP kept asking if I was sure I couldn't feel her moving around!!

All well with baby, but I've got a "low posterier" placenta, so get another scan at 36 weeks to see if it's going to get in the way of me giving birth naturally. Worst case is it will and I'll need a cesarian (sp?).

First pregnancy yoga class tonight as well. Having a very baby-focussed day!!

Sugar80 · 05/10/2011 13:51

Oh, and littlemonkeybix smoked salmon is fine to eat according to all the info. I ordered it for a starter the other week and scoffed a big plateful of it!!

littlemonkeybix · 05/10/2011 13:59

Thanks for the salmon infoSugar80 and also Congrats Grin on the pinky in yer tum!

Totally bored out of my skull today in work... I have zero concentration... DP has afternoon off and I am jealous! I have next Mon and Tues, but that doesn't count!

Alas, I must try to do some work.... email queue a-calling me! booooo

PamBeesly · 05/10/2011 14:08

Congrats sugar and zhen on the girls! Also apologies if I've left anyone else out! Are we almost even on boys and girls? Its seems like that.

My scan isn't for another 21 days and I'm counting them down! I am going to take loubys advice and have a can of Sprite before my appointment, I really want to know

monkey great your tests came back clear.

louby86 · 05/10/2011 14:15

Congratulations on joining team pink zhen and sugar

Currently trying not to go crazy buying loads of stuff incase it isn't a girl and we find out we're having a boy at the next scan. Completely irrational of me I know as I definitely couldn't see any boy parts between her legs. Being more sensible and have spent my extra money this week on nappies and baby wipes, I figured if I bought some here and there up to my due date it'd save a bit of money when my wages drop and it'll also help when I don't want to leave the house.

This might be a weird question, don't know if anyone can help me but I was in pain with one of my nipples last night, I know it's a bit random, but it still hurt in the night. It felt like someone had sliced it was a razor and put salt on it. Is there anything I can do to stop it and is it normal? Sorry, it's my first pregnancy so all these things are a bit new to me Blush

PamBeesly · 05/10/2011 14:20

louby I get really awful breast pain, as if someone is stabbing me right through my nipple, the only thing that helps me is to make sure the area is warm and massage it through a top or jumper, the pain is really bad sometimes and much worse than any stretching pains I've had. I will use a hot water bottle outside my top if it gets any worse

littlemonkeybix · 05/10/2011 14:36

Louby I have the odd one or two of these too. Not pleasant!! My left one is v sensitive most of the time now.

I also have them occasionally drying up a little!! Shock I do suffer from some elbow psoriasis, but never there! I just keep my entire front moisturised and massaged (belly and boobies) and hope that I don't fall to pieces in the night!

hope it settles for you soon... mine's quite sporadic. I try to massage the whole area, I suppose to desensitise it?! It does go when I do that.

12 days to scan! (9 days to glucose tests - booooo)

m1nn1em0u5e · 05/10/2011 14:51

Congratulations on all the team pink/blue babies!...

Im stressing over an Open Uni exam ive got next Friday, be so glad when its over!..im far too tired to be revising! My DP has just made my day, he knows how stressed I am trying to juggle the boys, work, the house & everything else especially when he works away half of the time....hes just walked in the door with a decaf Star Bucks frappucino :) Oh so happy with him!..

Ive had the breast pain & seem to remember it from my other pregnancies too, so much change happening to them I suppose!..

At the hospital for a glucose tolerance test tomorrow....3 hours, starve from midnight, the joys hey!..At least ive no excuse not to revise in the 3 hours I will be there!..

Right, back to studying socialisation....have a good day x

Xavielli · 05/10/2011 16:07

Congrats on the cooperative babies ladies! Sat on the bus trying not to cry as I dont know what I'm having!! This is getting silly now, it's been a week now I should be over it. Perhaps I ought to mention it to gp/mw as I haven't felt this low since I've been on ADs. Because ive known with the others i keep thinking it must be a bad sign.I'm so stupid!! Why can't I just get on with it like everyone else!??
