Congrats on the happy scan news Snoozing and Wicket :)

Phlossie glad DD perked up a bit in time for her b'day.

Sorry to hear about 'flu Innocent, make sure you keep yourself well hydrated and go to GP if breathing difficult. With recent viruses I have slept propped upright on lots of cushions and dosed up with plenty of lemon, ginger and honey (used fresh ginger, peeled and cut up simmered for half hour in water then added fresh lemon juice and honey to water). Worked a treat.

mummycar so sorry to hear about your nan, it makes me so Angry and Shock when I hear that people could just leave a vulnerable old woman after a fall, shame on them :( How is she now?

Another one looking very pregnant, if bump behaves will know if we are in the pink or blue camp by tomorrow afternoon :) DH hoping for pink, I don't mind either way. I am not the most girly girl myself so DD plays with trains, footballs and cars more than dollies anyway :)

Don't mind people who I actually know and like touching my bump as they mean well, but complete strangers no way, they better keep their paws off or face the wrath of my hormonal tongue!

mummymccar · 03/10/2011 20:49

Thanks Woowa and Zhen. She is still very upset and quite hurt that nobody came to help her. My Mum is furious. My nan recently had a knee replacement and came down very heavily on that knee so she can't walk right now and we think she'll have repercussions for quite a while. I just can't get the image of her crying in the street and nobody helping out of my head. Luckily everyone on Mumsnet has been lovely which has really restored my faith in people. I just can't think why nobody stopped.

Zhen - Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

babycarmen · 03/10/2011 21:11

Gaaah slow down, i keep losing my place Grin

Sorry cant remember who said what but i hate people touching my bump, one of my best friends friends that we bumped into in town (who i have never met before in my life) shoved her hands on my belly after my bf told her i was expecting, and i was biting my tongue so hard, i find it so rude! Unless its my DP whose hand i am constantly shoving on my bump :D If people ask to feel i dont mind at all, i just hate people randomly touching me!

Happy birthday phlossie DD, my DDs 4th birthday is 4 weeks today, and shes obsessed with that Moxie girls?? And disney princess and dogs that poo.. oh the joys. She loves her girly toys but she is such a tomboy in how she acts and dresses!

Lovely to hear about scans and pink/blue/yellow bumps :) Convinced mine is pink again but shall find out in 4 weeks time!

Been walking without my crutches, yay! Had physio again today and they realigned my pelvis again and it feels so much better. :)

I dont think my bump has grown in about 3 weeks, im sure im still the same. My boobs however, oh my gosh. I got measured the month before i fell pregnant and i was a 32DD, im pretty sure im like a 34GGGGG now (ok maybe exaggerating a little) but theyre huge, and ive outgrown all my bras, I bought a cheap one from Tesco which was a 34E and it seems to be fitting nice but i need to go get measured properly again soon.

Right bedtime, as soon as my head hits the pillow baby decides to do cartwheels and try push its way out Grin so im getting quite tired!

22 weeks today!

PDog · 03/10/2011 21:24

Congrats on all the scan news and the lovely little boys Smile.

mummymccar Shock that no one helped your nan. It makes me very Angry and too much of it happens these days. Not in the same league at all but I have had numerous people let doors close in my face when struggling with DD in her pram.

zhen sorry to hear your sad news. Hope your DH is doing ok.

innocent being ill when pregnant is crappy, hope you feel better soon.

phlossie glad your DD recovered to enjoy her day.

Sorry to hear you are still feeling crap wicket. My DD was very clingy with her dad when I was feeling crap in the first trimester so I know how you feel. She wouldn't come to me and cried every time DH left the room. It made me very Sad but she is much better now.

I was at a work function on friday and had my bump felt by one of the directors Shock. I don't mind family and friends but luckily they are more polite than near strangers and tend to wait to be asked before touching.

DD is not really girly but she isn't 2 yet so plenty of time for it to change. I really hate the blue/pink that goes on with toys and accessories these days. I found it really hard to find gender neutral things.

Scan on Friday Grin

hermionejgranger · 03/10/2011 21:46

Ewch! Can't keep up!

Zhen - sorry to hear your sad news...

Mummymccar - hope your nan is OK - it's such a shame that nobody felt they had the time or the inclination to help.

Wicket - bad news about the sickness...I hope it doesn't last the whole time again.

Sorry I've only managed a few personals but the Winchester boys are sharing my attention this evening! Bert made me laugh earlier - had been quiet and still since I got home, until his Daddy came in from work and then he went all wiggly again - almost as though he heard and recognised "oooh Daddy's home" Grin maybe he did?! DH put his hand on my bump because I'd felt a movement from "outside" IYKWIM but then Bert went all still again so he didn't feel it :( The kicking/punching/headbutting/dancing is getting stronger now though so I'm sure the opportunity for DH isn't far off.

Bump is now reasonably sizeable - a work pal today said she couldn't believe the size of it and then laughed at my recently-acquired "waddle" - I knew I was walking differently but hadn't thought it was a WADDLE just yet! It sounds bad when I write it down but it really wasn't mean of her in the context of the conversation.

Re: bump touching - I've not really had anyone try it who I wasn't comfortable with the touching - but I'm quite a touchy-feely myself anyway (with people I know - not just random strangers!) so maybe that's one reason why it doesn't really bother me. Also it's been just females who I know reasonably well (including my cousin who's 5 and my niece who's 7).

One week til the scan! We are hoping to stay Team Yellow so will have to remember to tell the sonographer...

20+3

hermionejgranger · 03/10/2011 21:47

Oh and Innocent I hope you feel better soon!

QueenFee · 03/10/2011 22:19

Sorry about your nan thats terrible. People are quite good at helping others round here as a general rule sometimes it gets a bit annoying for me.

I love having my bump touched by anyone.

My dd is such a tomboy until she went to school she refused to wear girly stuff and played with trains and dirt :D in fact the dolls in my house get with by my boys! Cerys has got more girly since she went to school. However I have been spared the whole pink thing. I hate the whole pink/blue think too. Its so hard to buy stuff in different colours though.

louby86 · 03/10/2011 22:30

Hope your nan is ok mummymccarr that's such sad news

Sad to hear some people are sick, hope things clear up soon!

Found out today we're on the pink team! Sort of have a name and did a bit of shopping! Looking at 4d scans now, don't know whether to go for it or not?

pinkhollie · 03/10/2011 22:31

Hello everyone on phone so struggling with personals.

We had our scan today a lovely clear baby with everything in working order. We are staying team yellow even though DH thinks he glimpsed a little willie. I saw nothing and as he is in no way medically trained I am going to ignore it anyway!

One of my main reasons for not finding out the sex is I can not stand overtly blue or pink baby stuff. Not that I haven't been ogling gorgeous polka dot dresses for girls and fantastic chunky knits for boys. It's the babygro's I can't stand.

I did also lose my rag in sainsbury's at their dressing up costume choices. In the boys section there was policeman, fireman, doctor and racing driver in the girls it was nurse, air stewardess and cheerleader! Angry

I started swapping the clothes around while ranting to my friend and scaring one poor little boy who wandered near half to death.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 03/10/2011 23:01

I hate that dreadful gender sectarianism of dressing up clothes too. DD's dressing up outfit is a mini set of scrubs and a white coat Grin

PamBeesly · 03/10/2011 23:45

mummymccar I'm Shock about your grandmother being igored on the street. Does she live in a big city? Oh the humanity, where is it.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown I love your daughters 'dressing up' clothes Grin

Kayano · 04/10/2011 00:04

I'm thinking this little girl might be a tomboy. I'm getting a battering while watching DH play FIFA 2012...

Or maybe she it trying to show me some displeasure with this situation? wishful thinking

I have decided that she will also be an F1 fan or be disowned Grin

Feeling pretty good and happy and optimistic today, in a funny mood again...

Sugar80 · 04/10/2011 07:02

That's awful about your nan mummymccar. Hope she's okay.

Scan tomorrow morning! Really want to know what it is, so very excited.

I actually feel pretty non-pregnant at the moment, so it'll be nice to see what's going on in there. STILL no movement and, while my bump is getting bigger, it still could look like I've just got a bit fatter. Certainly no one's tried to touch it.... or even commented on it. While I would rip the hand off anyone who tried to touch it, a little recognition of the fact I'm pregnant would be nice...

InnocentRedhead · 04/10/2011 10:49

Feeling a lot worse this morning, so I have booked a doctors appointment. Slept 10 hours last night, woke up fresh as a daisy and within 10 minutes I couldn't move again. Sat all cuddled up on sofa (home alone so no-one to wait on me either :( ) watching shitty day time TV waiting to get ready to go to doctors. I only live across road from it, but I honestly don't know how I will be getting there! I think baby knows I am not well because he has being hiding in my back, still is, so I only have a tiny bump! I have noticed that he does it when I am not feeling too good or upset, like he is sad as well. Love him :) Still haven't thought of names but not up to it, we have always liked Sebastian though.

Shock at how people just walked past mummymccar !!! I could never do that. I must admit since finding out I am pregnant I am not running to help people who I believe are intoxicated and have fallen over or ill, but I will try and get them help! But someone who is 80! come on, what goes through peoples head to walk past!

hermione I know what you mean about the changed walk! I think it could be described as a waddle, but I didn't think that you waddled until at least 8 months ha!

Zhen you are right about friends touching your bump as you know them and often don't mind them being briefly in your personal space. But total strangers, it just makes me feel uneasy! I do like it when total strangers ask about pregnancy though, as it sort of confirms to me that i am pregnant if you know what I mean

All those on about gender stereotyping, I hate all the girly stuff like princess stuff. My DSDs mother is ramming princesses and pink down her throat. When she is with DP and me, she loves nothing more than rolling around in mud, eating worms! Part of the reason why I wanted boy is the gender stereotyping. Its not just toys that you buy your child. It is what they do in schools, teaching girls typically feminine words etc. Saw a few threads on this in feminism/women's rights. DP just wants the lego and NERF guns :o

God knows how I type an essay everytime, I am sooooo sorry!

Crazybit · 04/10/2011 11:44

Oooh so much to catch up, don?t think I?m going to be able to do full personals but will try.

Firstly will say we had scan yesterday. Baby laid perfectly for everything, and restored the sonographers faith in the baby?s being good that day apparently. Anyway, all good with everything and we?re on team blue! I already have two girls so am so very pleased. I didn?t think I minded until yesterday morning, when it hit me it may be another girl and I started panicking I wouldn?t cope.

Hermoine-Is there a risk after a colposcopy and loop biopsy thing? I had one about a year ago, but no one has mentioned anything.

Littlemonkey-So glad to hear you got the training!

MrsHuxtable-Hope you are feeling better within yourself. Can you have a look round the area for an antenatal group?

Innocent-Glad you?re on team blue too. Totally know what you mean about feeling bad for deep down wanting a boy-but hey, we?re only human.

Pam-Hope you?re feeling better now.

Mellie-How?re your starry eyes? Hope it?s nothing serious. Re: pain relief. My last two labours I asked for epidurals, but for some reason they didn?t work! So unfair. Pethidine is amazing imo. I will be requesting everything asap, there are no prizes for enduring pain Wink Have a great holiday.

Phlossie-hope dd?s sickness has subsided. And happy birthday to her for yesterday, that was my dds edd, however she was two days late, so is 4 tomorrow!

Squiglett-sorry to hear you?re having problems Sad Life can be so hard sometimes. Hope things get better for you. I wouldn?t repaint your bedroom, I?m sure the baby wont care, and it?s nice for you to have a bit of identity for yourself.

Zhenhing-Hope the scan goes well. So sorry to hear about DHs grandad and mum, you and baby must be keeping him going Smile

TheWicketKeeper-Really hope you feel better soon. How awful for you.

Sigh-Will try and be back later and finish off my post. DD is playing up.

notcitrus · 04/10/2011 12:26

Hello again - envious of those who have had scans as mine's not until next week, but Squirmlet is at least poking me to say hello regularly!
Still exhausted and thanking the gods I'm signed off work. Walked into ex-boss this morning after getting A to nursery, so at least she can confirm to my team that I'm walking about 1 mile an hour (slower than A who is just 3) and still looking wrecked...

We'll hopefully find out the sex but will try not to tell anyone! A actually wore loads of pink stuff as a baby as our neighbours gave us loads of clothes (as in 5 binliners full!) - he is now obsessed with trains and diggers but still loves pink - the one thing he wanted for his birthday was a pink cake with pink icing! Which I gave him. :) I was a bit miffed recently when a charity got nursery to do a 'Princesses and Superheroes' dressing up day - as it was I totally forgot until a girl came in in her princess dress and said "Hello A! I'm a princess. You get to be a superhero today!" and I said he'd probably want to be a pink princess - luckily her dad also told her that A could be a prince or princess if he wanted...

Princes do seem to have got written out of stories - dn is also obsessed with dressing up as a princess or Snow White at his nursery, and was totally confused when we tried to explain what a prince was - he's clearly forgotten the Royal Wedding. Or Prince William's outfit just wasn't glittery enough...

mummymccar · 04/10/2011 13:39

Thank you for all the lovely comments ladies, it means a lot to us all. She is being pampered at home today so well and truly spoilt! Pam - it was Solihull (just outside Birmingham) so not even a big city which I think makes it worse.

Congratulations to Louby for joining the pink team, Crazybit for joining team blue, and Pinkhollie for team yellow! Lots of great scan news!

I love all the cutsy girly stuff, but I'm going to try to keep it to a minimum if we have a girl. I want my child to feel comfortable in their own skin when they grow up. Found a gorgeous Batman costume at Mothercare that I'm going to buy for the baby regardless of sex!

Hermione - I'm another one getting my waddle on over here!

louby86 · 04/10/2011 14:05

mummymccar I'm even more shocked now you say Solihull! I'm not far from there and thought people were much nicer than that!

mummymccar · 04/10/2011 15:14

That's what I thought! I spent a lot of my childhood in Solihull and I've always had such a high opinion of it. Really shocked now.

InnocentRedhead · 04/10/2011 15:35

mummy before you said Solihull, i was honestly thinking London. No offence to most Londoners, but that's what people paint it to be like, too busy for people to help! Especially to us Northeners IYSWIM.

Well I have been to the doctors, I have tonsilitus! I have never felt this rotten with it! Been prescribed antibiotics and will hopefully be on the mend soon! I used to be prone to it, but it was the one thing I haven't thought of! Looked at my tonsils now on getting back from the doctors and they are TMI covered in pus!!

Bed, plenty of fluids and antibiotics for me!

deardear · 04/10/2011 16:01

i am a midlander as well but not too surprised at that in solihull sadly. seems the norm - they are either really stuck up or really low life (sorry if this offends but either of those two types of people would walk on by).

hope your gran is ok though mummy. not nice. :(

phlossie · 04/10/2011 16:01

Ha ha notcitrus - I read your post as "dh is also obsessed with dressing up as a princess or Snow White..." Each to their own, and all that!

Glad the doctor has sorted you out, innocent. Tonsilitus is nasty, and it does wipe you out. DS and I both got it a couple of times when her was a baby.

DD is well and back on form, thanks everyone. She had a lovely birthday. She perked up enough to go to Horse World where she got to groom a horse and she and her cousin had the death slide all to themselves!

Happy birthday to your DD for tomorrow, Crazy. Nice to think that we're doing the whole giving birth thing at the same time twice!

I bumped into someone I haven't seen for while who looked at my bump and said 'oooh! When did that happen!' I wasn't sure what to say - er, would you like the exact time and day? Very funny.

Is anyone else leaking wee all day every day? It's a nightmare. I might have to get some Tena lady! It's only a tiny bit, but it gets quite damp down there! Blush

I'm feeling my baby move a lot now. It kicks me in the bladder (maybe explaining the above). Yesterday it got me in the cervix which sent a horrible reverberation all through my body! I shouted 'ow', though mostly I keep saying 'hello baby!' at random!

phlossie · 04/10/2011 16:08

Ooh - and how was your scan, Sugar80?

remember to keep the stats updated everyone!

crazy when's your ds's birthday? This is DC3 for too, isn't it?

littlemonkeybix · 04/10/2011 16:30

Aww Phlossie I'm a serial wee-er too! I keep hoping that eventually, when I bloom, it'll compensate for me constantly stinking of pee!! Blush DP says I don't, but the paranoia says I HONK of it!

Speaking of wee - Had a bit of a worry this morning. TMI alert!! My 1st wee of the day today and yest has had a pinkish tinge to it when I dab afterwards. Tried to not worry about it... as had also had a dose of the TMI squits last night/this morning. Anyway, finally called the MW triage in Liverpool Womens, and they were lovely. Going to take a urine sample to my GP for a quick check over as it's probably only a UTI. (please)

Called DP after sorted that part out, as hadn't wanted to worry him unnecessarily, and we're going to have a proper kiddy tea to make me feel better Grin Chicken, chips and beans... and pancakes with lemon and sugar to follow - YAY I love comfort food (who doesn't!?)

Roll on hometime!

PDog · 04/10/2011 18:57

I also have a waddle hermione - it will only get worse Wink. Unfortunately my bump is still a bit too flabby to make it obvious I am pg so I just look really odd!

Congrats on the girl louby and the boy crazy.

Glad to hear your nan is being spoilt mummy.

Hope the antibioticsbkick in soon innocent.

phlossie yes me too, especially when I cough Blush. Need to work on my pelvic floor.

Hope everything is ok monkey. Enjoy your tea - sounds yum.

All ok here, had a great day with DD. Those of you that are suffering with it, what does spd feel like? I have had back ache for a couple of weeks at the bottom right of my back. This has improved a bit this week but I have been getting pain in my groin on both sides when I walk. Took DD to feed the ducks this afternoon, which is only about quarter of a mile, if that. Am now in pain when I walk and only really feel comfortable with a cushion between my legs. Spd possibly? Or am I just being a wimp? Smile
