Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
littlemonkeybix · 30/09/2011 11:23

ooooh scan news from everyone is making me sooo jealous!! Grin Congratulations all Thanks

I got my nursey friend to get her steth out last night... we heard my bowels (lovely Hmm) and more of the same... and then, we heard some swooshy noise that sounded very much like pip having a swim Grin

I wasn't expecting to hear pip's heartbeat, but I wanted to see what we could hear. As it was the swooshy swimmy noises were enough to make me feel happy!

Now... how can I hurry this time lark along to Oct 17th !!??! I WANT MY SCAN!! Wink

littlemonkeybix · 30/09/2011 11:24

Sorry forgot to WHOOP WHOOP at the puppy news too! what breed do you have sugar?

Sugarkane · 30/09/2011 11:50

She is a beautiful bichon frise. Oh im getting excited now Grin

littlemonkeybix · 30/09/2011 12:03

I love dogs... definitely a dog person (plus allergic to cats)

DP is a cat man... result is... We have no pets! (I will win him round one day... I will have a dog again!)

PamBeesly · 30/09/2011 12:31

Aww I love all the scan news! like you monkey I can't wait for my scan, its not until the 26th!!

Does anyone know if honey is safe to take during pregnancy? I googled but got lots of conflicting info. I have a really bad head cold and my throat is so sore. I was going to make hot lemon and honey but now I'm not sure.

Mellie you have a shy baby, protecting their modesty already Grin

19 weeks:)

PamBeesly · 30/09/2011 12:32

5 pups SugarKane how exciting! I wonder if female dogs feel the same labour and birthing pains.

Xavielli · 30/09/2011 13:12

definitely dont need a full bladder... the only reason you do for the 12 week scan is to puysh the baby up over your pubic bone so they can see it :)

diedandgonetodevon · 30/09/2011 13:39

Well I'm back from my scan- baby is a little devil and curled in a tight ball really high up and right against the placenta so there was no way the sonographer could tell the sex. On the plus side it also meant she only managed about half the scan so we are going back next week for a second go. If peanut isn't playing ball this time we will just have to book a private scan and they can bloody well scan me until we get an answer. For some reason this time I simply have to know...unreasonable possibly, but true.

More positively my meeting with the consultant about delivery options went really well. We are lucky that our NHS trust does not, in their words, 'bully you' about trying for a VBAC. It is left up to you to decide entirely so am feeling nice and reassured that I can have my ELCS if I want it.

littlemonkeybix · 30/09/2011 13:48

drama alert I had a walk out to the village at lunch... as I got back to my desk, there were ambulance crew wheeling one of the team leaders past in a wheelchair!! She's similar age to me, but looked dreadful.

Just had the story filtering through, poor sod had a fit, and collapsed, smacking her head on the way down!!! Shock

Hoping it's just the heat pushed her over the edge, she's been on medication for teeth troubles... hopefuly nothing more serious.

It's left everyone feeling a little odd!!

devon good news you get a 2nd go at your scan Wink Good luck for a show off pip next time round!!

I am wearing over bump jeans today.... I am regretting that decision hot hot HOT

phlossie · 30/09/2011 13:52

Well the mean people at my hospital make you have a full bladder, and as the fire alarm was going off when we arrived and everyone had just been evacuated my scan was 45 minutes late. I actually thought I was going to explode!

Fab news that all is good on team purple. But what's with all these shy babies?!

My baby's having a quiet couple of days hiding out behind my placenta where I can't feel him/her move. I'm looking forward to when he/she's too big to hide.

A friend cam round today who's due 5 days before me. I am so so so much bigger than her. Especially my arse. It's so depressingly huge.

littlemonkeybix I have the most RUBBISH baby listening thing ever. Summer Heart to Heart is what it's called (don't buy). It's a good job it was only a fiver. I can hear rumbling noises, but I put it on my thigh and could hear the same noises! I can just about make out my own heart if I put it on my chest!

littlemonkeybix · 30/09/2011 14:44

training update (sorry I appear to be on thread hog again!!)

I have just had word that my training has been approved!! So I'll be in Birmingham at the end of Oct, beginning of Nov!! 3 day course.... I'd better pass the exam now!! HA!

On a funny note, the girl responsible for sending the approvals off, forgot to send her own!! Karma, anyone?!

Oh Phlossie how poo.... making you wait with a massive bladder! I had that at 12week scan, an hour late... and I was desperate to go from before I got through the door of the hosp!! it was PAINFUL! I nearly didn't make it to the loo afterwards... a kind nurse saw me waiting (there was a QUEUE) and directed me to the mens Grin

Fortunately, they have made no water mention for 20week scan (YAY) so I wont be in the same position! (PHEW)

MrsHuxtable · 30/09/2011 15:41

Good afternoon Ladies,
not been on here for ages again and it just took me a couple of hours to catch up with all the messages.

I'm loving all the nice bump pictures. Have to take one myself soon as well. I'm really surprised how many shy babies we have on this bus not wanting to show their bits. Grin

I've been hiding in my bed mostly for the last week. Am really feeling down. I know this is silly but DH had to go to Cardiff for 2 weeks and because all food smells are still making me vomit, it's been really shit to make kind of healthy food for myself that doesn't smell. I really didn't appreciate how much he's been pondering to me. One more week to go and he'll be back.

I've been feeling so lonely, it's getting ridiculous. Just me and my cat, because I'm still off sick and don't really leave the house. Just saw on facebook this morning that my cousins friend is pregnant again - at the same time as 7!!!!!! of her friends. She really deserves it as her DH1 has been terribly ill over last couple of years but I have to admit that I'm really jealous. I have noone in real live who's pregnant as well or has a baby. There is a girl at my work that's pregnant as well but we don't really get on. Not since I fell pregnant anyway. We were fine before but I've been having problems with my boss due to my pregnancy and ever since that happened she's being all weird to me.

Sorry if this reads like a massive rant btw. I hope you're all doing well and Good Luck for those scans today!!

MrsHuxtable · 30/09/2011 15:57

Also I have uploaded the scan picture.

phlossie · 30/09/2011 16:13

Where do you live, MrsH? You could try mumsnet local... Have you signed up for any antenatal groups? I did NHS and NCT antenatal groups and met really nice people - I still see about 7 of them, and I'm really close to 3 of them and that's six years later. Going through all the pregnancy/new baby stuff is very bonding. Plus I have a fab group of mum friends from DS's school and a few good friends from DD's pre-school. It's probably a bit early for groups, though you could try yoga or something, but don't fret - you will meet lots of lovely people. I was like you, I had no friends who had babies at the same time as me when I had my 1st.

Today I met up with the one person I know who's having a baby at the same time as me - her 2nd. She lives a little way away, so we'll see how that goes, but I will be joining every post-natal and baby massage group going once bub arrives just to make friends.

DD's birthday party tomorrow and I have a cake to bake.

Glad your training's sorted, littlemonkeybix.

babycarmen · 30/09/2011 17:00

Phlossie I have the Summer heart thingy aswell and agree it is rubbish! Would totally advise people NOT to buy it! I did have a shot of my friends angelsounds monitor though which was quite good, we heard the heartbeat at 17 weeks.

Lots of shy babies!! I cannot wait for our gender scan, 4 weeks and 4 days..not that im counting...

My DD got her nursery school pic back today, and they managed to get her to smile Grin (big achievement) proud mummy...!

hermionejgranger · 30/09/2011 20:49

Have just read through whole thread to catch up and now I need a nice glass of wine! Some lovely news and some sad news too...

Can't remember whether I posted about the scan last week - it was a check to make sure cervix is long enough/not funnelling or dilating unexpectedly after colposcopy & loop excision a few years ago. Sorry if TMI. Anyway - evverything is fine and I got to see Bert wiggling away again! Proper 20wk scan not for a couple more weeks yet though - at 21+6!! Not intending to find out whether "he" is pink or blue (he is a "he" purely for ease of reference - feels much better than calling him "it") I don't think.

I thought I was feeling wind bubbles Blush in my lower tum but am pretty convinced now that it's wiggling. Comes and goes so I have periods of smiling to myself and periods of panicking that I can't feel any movement.

Definitely looking bumpy now - will post a pic at some point. A couple of people have commented on how big I am while someone else said I had a tiny neat bump. Do people just make stuff up for something to say?

And joy of joys I got some money off/ectra points vouchers in tesco last week. One for 5p off per litre of fuel - lovely. And the other one? 250 extra points for buying TAMPAX. Flippin great. From the same shopping trip where I bought preggy vits, maternity pads and 3 boxes of ice pops. Every little helps, though, eh?

End of essay.

20 weeks today!

hermionejgranger · 30/09/2011 20:49

*extra not ectra

hermionejgranger · 30/09/2011 20:50

good grief and everything not evverything. maybe I should've had that wine!

InnocentRedhead · 30/09/2011 20:56

Just wrote an extremely long post, and I mean massive, and the network crashed! extremely pissed off now! Arrrggghhhh

I am on team BLUE though and it was bloody obvious haha! Takes after his Daddy (the sonographer blushed at that one!) Have to go back next week as he was not laying right for her to get the spinal measurement, so get to see him again, taking my mum this time! And I have an anterior placenta

Back to my original dates now so I am a week less than I though 20th Feb now!

Also spent £36 on 250+ nappies today haha!

Will be back when I finish work

PamBeesly · 30/09/2011 21:30

Yeah Innocent a little boy!

MrsH there are no MN'ers in my area and I know no one close by who is pregnant so this thread has been excellent!

Still feeling very flu-ish and had a lot of vomitting, just ate some toast so I hope I keep that down, and I really hope I can sleep tonight.

QueenFee · 30/09/2011 22:00

Went to the circus yesterday :) whilst sitting cuddling ds1 I thought ge elbowed me however it turned out to be the baby! I jumped out of my skin, up to now I have only had rumbling kicks.
Had my consultant appointment today where I gave them more blood. He wants to see me again at 28 weeks. I am also having anti d at 28 weeks so I asked for the appointments to be combined. Man it took them half an hour to sort it. The hospital is half an hour away or I would have given up rant rant rant

woowa · 30/09/2011 23:20

Honey - completely fine to eat pregnant, never read one single piece of advice against it. You should't give it to children under 12 months, so maybe that's where the confusion comes from.

Baby wriggling like a wriggly thing tonight. Crazy! LOTS of braxton Hicks today, once or twice a little achey, but the pain has gone now, so end of panic about extremely prem labour. Guess the old uterus is having alittle practice and gettiung back into shape to push. I'll have to look up when to start on the raspberry lead tea to help tone the uterus! (probably old wives tale, but you never know!!)

v busy day, v tired now

Up nice and early as I've been kicked out of bed for being snotty. Day 5 of feeling like crap now, and I'd really like it to end.

I'd also really like to feel this baby move at some point...

18+6

phlossie · 01/10/2011 08:58

Yeay, innocent - team blue! That brought a tear to my eye (weirdo)! If I could choose, I'd go for a pink one because I'm very close to my sister and I'd like DD to have the relationship. Also, DD will be the closest in age - 4.5 years instead of 6 years. And she has the best clothes to hand down! BUT I keep having weird longings for a baby boy, which make me go all misty eyed. Seriously, I need to get a grip.

I go between loving feeling the baby and panicking, too, Hermione. However I did get booted hard in the cervix yesterday, which really hurt! (by the baby, not some random stranger or anything...) Good news that your cervix is behaving, Hermione.

Right. Off to opticians now. Then I have a birthday party to organise for DD! It's all go round here.

Going to be another scorcher today. Good luck ladies! The heat is pissing me off!

InnocentRedhead · 01/10/2011 09:44

Right I will try and post the long post that I had ready yesterday before the network at work crashed. Moral of that story, ALWAYS copy and paste long posts! It will never be the same though lol!

Well as mentioned I am having a boy. And I am more than pleased for knowing now. I was convinced I was having a girl, but deep down I wanted a boy. I think, even though I hate to admit it, I would have had an initial feeling of disappointment if the sonographer had told me it was a girl. That sounds horrible doesn't it. Just as long as they are healthy is all that really mattered though! The smile was not wiped off my face all day, it was huge and even working until midnight didn't bother me!

It was definitely obviously a boy, I didn't need the sonographer to tell me that. He was proud ha! And DP is now thinking of all the toys he gets to play with. After having a daughter I think he is really proud of himself that he can give a boy too! He wrote on my FB status 'He shoots, he scores. C'mon the Y chromosome.:-D' HAHA!

Anyway as i mentioned on previous post, I have an anterior placenta which will be why I am only feeling movement lower down and nothing up top. He looked so snug in there with the placenta there! However I am having to go back on Tuesday as he wasn't laying in the right position for her to get the right spinal measurement she needed. She told me to go for a wee during the scan, see if that moved him. even though I had drank a massive amount of water before the scan, I barely leaked! Probably the weather, it was so warm and I was on my feet all day! She even told me to go for a quick walk, but me and DP didn't have time as we both had to get to work. So we just rebooked for Tuesday. i am taking my mum to this scan though, I think it would be lovely for her to see him.

The SECOND i got out of the hospital he was wriggling around down low like a good one! But getting to hospital was one hell of a nightmare! My appointment was at 4pm, got on the first of two buses at half 3 (was running late but had time to get there) anyway. Got off the first bus and realised that I had forgotten my notes. RAN to the nearest taxi rank to get a taxi home and then up to the hospital and the first taxi was in FIVE MINUTES. I was panicking and burst into tears! And DP wasn't been that sympathetic. I was there thinking we are going to miss it, and I was a mess. when I was in tears though DP did fix up and help me bless him! But because we had to get a taxi to collect my notes, we couldn't afford a picture, which made me even more of a mess! Anyway, got there to the hospital, literally my bum touched the seat in the waiting area and I got called in, I didn't even have time to reach for DPs knee! This was all in half an hour! ha! We got there though. and after all this, the sonographer STILL gave us a picture :) Just the one though! When I go for next scan, going to get some more and pay for them then as you get a few more than one!

Oh but it's a boy! :o She dated me back to my original dates as I was small for 20+5 so I was put back to 19+6 and due on the 20th again! Which means I think I am all alone on the 20th seat now!! I knew the dating scan was wrong!

ANYWAY onto personals now, enough about me, but that was my extremely eventful day yesterday

MrsHuxtable, I know what you mean about the lonliness, I don't know many people around here even though I grew up here!! And especially non my age and pregnant. I am going to different groups like Mother and Baby, I have being to my local sure start centre to see what they have on offer there and they are great. Lets you meet other new mums. It would probably be better for when you are nearer to your due date. Me and DP have decided we can't afford NCT antenatal classes and the woman for my area has not being back in touch with regard to discounts :( They might even offer pregnancy groups at the centre. Sorry that you have being feeling so shitty too, I don't know what to suggest really, I am sure you are worn out!

Sugarkane How exciting is that! I love dogs and like monkey, I am allergic to cats (all cats) but my dog allergy does not stop me liking dogs though :)

Queenfee thats lovely :) I want to go to the circus now though!

Sorry don't have time for anymore, my essay took a lot of time to write, need to get ready for work and get the keys to my NEW house argh :o

Have a great day all!

20+0 AGAIN ha!
