good morning my lovelies, as requested, a shiny new thread Grin old thread is here

Good luck with scans today, phlossie are you off for yours?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PamBeesly · 01/10/2011 12:56

Thanks woowa I went ahead with the honey anyway because I felt like death warmed up. I think you can start drinking the raspberry leaf from week 32 but one cup a day for the first few weeks and AFAIK you can up it to two cups from 36 weeks. I love raspeberry leaf tea and used to drink it everyday so I'm really looking forward to being able to have it again.
I really hope when I go for my scan I won't have a shy baby, its our first child and I really want to find out the sex. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the babas to move? Maybe they are all too shy :)

Kayano · 01/10/2011 16:57

Congrats Innocent on your little boy!!!

Today I had a 40% discount voucher for Peacocks and so bought £90 worth of maternity clothes for about £54 pounds Grin

Go me

Now I just need bra's. Gone from a 32g to a WTF do they even make bra's that size?!

I'm not big all I've just always had massive boobs but it's beyond a joke now. If I wasn't planning to BF I swear I would chop them off. So bloody uncomfortable!

melliebobs · 01/10/2011 17:48

Awwww kayano I only went from a DD to an E cup and I still cried at DH saying "they won't have ANYTHING nice in my size and they are only going to get bigger" I really have nothing to moan about out. I'm sure u'll find something but I bet it's pricey. I think if ur pregnant you should get vouchers towards bras. It's not as of you can't wear them and you need new ones every few months! Ah if I ruled Britain! Lol

I've had an odd day today. Had starry eyes vision whenever I stand up (think that's more head rush) but more worryingly blurred vision in my left eye. Can't see a sodding thing through it and with both eyes open everything has a funny blurry edge Sad checked me BP and it's really low. I'm more than likely de hydrated so putting it down to this god awefull weather which I wish would just SOD OFF!!!!!!!!

Kayano · 01/10/2011 18:23

Mellie I've just took my bra off for some comfort and DH has said he needs a lift to his friends for FIFA 2012 night... I'm driving him braless. I can't take it anymore
Lol Wink

phlossie · 01/10/2011 19:02

My placenta's posterior too, innocent - so I'm getting the same kind of movements. It's taking some getting used to as both my others were posterior. Chuffed for you about the boy. I think lots of people have a preference - even if they don't admit it! Like I said, I have a preference... but it changes from one to the other!

Bless you and your ginormous bosom, Kayano! Just wait until they're engorged with milk Shock. I went from DD to E like you, Mellie.

Kayano · 01/10/2011 19:13

I have returned from my braless excursion cloaked in a black baggy hoodie lol. I look like I'm about to rob the neighbours Blush lol. I need a ski mask and I'm all set

woowa · 01/10/2011 19:56

Pam,when i was pg with DD, if i hadn't felt her move for a while i would (WARNING: BAD MOTHER ALERT) have a cup of coffee and the caffeine would get her kicking fairly quickly, so you could try that just before your scan. She now LOVES lattes, which is quite worrying!!

If you are not a bad mother, my SIL says that iced water also makes them move. probably healthier for you too!!

It's definitely cooled down here in the last few hours, so i suspect tomorrow will be weather appropriate to october rather than august. Poor DD, we walked to the shop together to buy a paper this morning (an HOUR round trip usually takes me 15 mins alone!), in the sun, and I think it exhausted her. Hope she sleeps well tonight then!! It also wiped me out for the rest of the day, I am now shattered and considering switching the light out, before 8pm! This would be a new record, i think.

Baby kicked me hard in the groin in the shower earlier - we have a walk in shower so i sit on a deck chair in the shower (no bath, sadly). baby obviously not impressed with that posture and kicked and kicked til i got up. NO REST HERE THEN!!

can't look at this screen any more, enjoy your sundays, mine will be jam packed. Can't wait til monday (though MIL is coming tuesday so got a LOT of cleaning to do!!)

22+4

PamBeesly · 01/10/2011 20:08

woowa thanks! I'm sure I'll be in the bad mother category :)

Lucky people in the UK with the sunny weather, its practically a flood (and cold) here.

Kayano you poor thing with the boobs, do you have a good support pillow for your neck? I had E boobs when I was 15 and when I was studying I would have awful neck and back pain because of the weight, I found it helped, my sisters were even bigger and had surgery to minimise them. Mine haven't grown so far but I have moved over to underwired which I find give no support.

Kayano · 01/10/2011 20:59

I have just bought a new memory foam pillow. I used to suffer with bad back but touch wood have not had a reoccurrence for about 2.5 years. I'm terrified about when their is actual milk in them. I wonder (because I am usually only a 14 and 5'2 ) if they don't go down I might plead for a boob reduction. Lord knows I can't actually afford one Sad

CoffeeOne · 01/10/2011 21:18

Hi guys, sorry for the late update! Scan yesterday was lovely :) we are TEAM BLUE! Growing a little boy in here which is so exciting! He seems to be developing well which is wonderful. I'm over the moon, we're having such a busy weekend though and I just want to sit down and think about my baby boy!

Mellie and Devon - sorry they couldn't see baby's bits :( must be frustrating. Be nice to have a surprise though :)

Innocent - congrats fellow team blue member!

littlemonkey - excellent news about your training!

lovely to hear about everyone's wriggly babes.

20 weeks today! :D

Xavielli · 01/10/2011 23:01

Congrats on the blue babies ladies, little boys are really lovely! My boys are so cuddlesome and sensitive.

Phlossie - I agree that it is normal to have a preference and that it changes. That's why I've always wanted to know the sex at scans as either way there will be a little pang for what isn't and I don't want to risk that being my first feeling when holding a new baby. Which is probably silly.

Kayano - mine are smaller after breastfeeding. Although they do slightly resemble spaniels ears! The joys!

My placenta is posterior high, as have they all been so I fully expect to be woken up by every little wriggle. Can't complain as it really is reassuring.

21+3 (is it February yet?)

melliebobs · 02/10/2011 10:18

Congrats on the boy coffee. Well jel! Seen so much nice boy clothes in H&M and Tesco. I want to know now so I can be organised and get some stuff! Talked to DH about getting a 3d/4d scan. Only thing is that could be the difference to me getting my dream iCandy pram or settling for second best with a Quinny. God dammit!

Sat down with DH last night n read all the leaflets I was given at my scan about pain relief. His opinion is still 'it's like biscuits. If its not there you can't have it' Hmm lol still getting me head around that bit and we are both curious as to how aromatherapy is a pain relief that's offered! Can u imagine?! In absolute agony and some midwife going 'ooooo have a sniff of this lavender oil' they'd get a bloomin punch! During this debate/discussion DH got to feel pip headbuttin me from the outside for the first time. He loved it but thinks it's a bit creepy!

Ah well. Busy busy busy day today. Going on holiday to Devon tomorrow. So much to organise. Need to go shopping, pack, find out where on earth in Devon we are actually going and more importantly how we are going to get there!

20+0 today

phlossie · 02/10/2011 14:10

Fab news, coffee! I have a gorgeous, cuddly boy too, Xavielli (apart from when wants to sword fight). And I agree with mellie - H&M does brilliant boys' clothes!

I like your DH's theory, mellie... but if I want biscuits, I just send DH to the corner shop!

It's not silly, Xavielli. I think my wanting a girl is a 'well obviously I'd love a girl' kind of thing. But I have a different, more emotional response to the idea of having a boy. It's a bit weird, but I'm hoping it means I'd be equally happy with either, just in different ways.

I have a pukey little girl at home - and it's her (4th) birthday tomorrow Sad She's being very brave. And she's got to the age where she feels like she's going to throw-up and makes it to the loo instead of just vomming everywhere, which is good for me!

phlossie · 02/10/2011 14:13

Ooh - 21 weeks today!

deardear · 02/10/2011 14:32

poor little girl phlossie :( hope she feels better soon.

just sitting have 5 to myself before one DD comes home from my brothers and the other shouts to be picked up as she has gone out riding. done nearly all the washing today and its nice and sunny again here so all out on the line apart from the last load whicih i hav stuck in the dryer.

have been having lots of wriggles top and bottom. no real big kicks though. friend took a pic of my bump yesterday afternoon and will have a go at posting that shortly.

DD2 felt the baby move for the first time last night while i was laying in bed. she said it was urrgggh! cheek. i love it and really miss it when pg is over :(

just over a week till my anatomy scan. excited! OH is coming as well. really hope they can see what it is as keep saying i want to find out but worried i will be disappointed with the result and not sure why as will be happy whatever sex it is.

good news that some of you have found out which side you are batting for. frustrating for the others though - think i may save upfor a 4D if they cant see

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 02/10/2011 18:06

Team blue here too Smile baby was much more willing to flash today although I still can't see it. I have so much girl stuff & bubba will be sharing my bright pink bedroom so feel a bit flat but they may also be due to some relationship issues. Glad to have a healthy baby, I know how lucky I am to get that Smile
Need a name now..... x

phlossie · 02/10/2011 19:44

Oh squiglett - boys are lovely! I was convinced DS would be a girl, and girls were what I'd feel comfortable with, so I was very shocked when he popped out (plus he looked a bit freaky - he was very over-cooked), but he is totally my PFB and he and I have a very soppy relationship! (I'm going to be an awful, over-bearing MIL to some poor girl one day!) Banish all those pre-conceptions you have about boys, go shopping for some lovely boys' clothes - and enjoy him!

Good luck with the name, though!

claricestar · 02/10/2011 19:51

lots of team blue on the bus! I am firmly in team yellow ;)

just planning my maternity leave, working out mat pay after tax etc etc....I was going to work till 38+4, have a weeks annual leave then start mat leave....but I have worked out that if I go at 35+4, I will only be about £110 worse off over all. I still plan to do a few KIT days after that to do paperwork etc but it means I won't have to teach my students at 38 weeks which I was dreading, because as nice as they are, they are demanding and I am on my feet all day!
So relieved I have made my mind up!
Looking forward to scan on Friday.

19+6 nearly half way!

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 02/10/2011 19:56

Phlossie, I have one of each already & my ds is totally a mummies boy & my little star. Squigletts daddy (relationship a mess @ the mo so I can't say dp or bf) has 3 sons & was so set on this being his girl that it rubbed off on me but now I know I definitely have a blue bump (well 99%) I can get my pram & stuff & kinda have a name. Listening to my dd tell me what she wants im actually thinking phew not another diva like her! Lol. Thank you for the pep talk though Smile
My bedroom is bright pink & black & as baby will be in with me for a couple of years I'm thinking I should paint the Walls White so it is not sooooo girlie, what do you reckon?

Xavielli · 02/10/2011 20:01

Congrats Squig! Sooooo jealous that you found out lol. Sorry to hear you feel a bit flat, hope the relationship stuff is nothing serious. Just think you get the chance to shape a boy into the perfect man for some lucky girl x

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 02/10/2011 20:50

Thanks xavielli, it's all a bit of a disaster at the moment but if I let myself think about it I just end up in floods of tears Sad so just keeping to the good stuff Smile & getting ready to meet my little boy who will be nothing like his daddy Grin x

ZhenXiang · 02/10/2011 21:27

Congratulations on your boys Innocent, Coffee and Squiglett Grin

Sorry to hear that you are going through a stressful time Squiglett, hope it all works out for the best x

Phlossie hope your DD feels better in time for her birthday tomorrow, poor thing in this heat as well :(

Been off the thread for a few days as struggling to get over virus, plus neighbours have been playing up again (noise, threats etc...) so stressed out and not sleeping very well.

Looking forward to our scan on Tuesday, need some good news at the moment, DH's grandad passed away yesterday only two months after he lost his beloved mum.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 02/10/2011 22:56

Congrats to all scanees on all the lovely scan news. So sorry to Zhen and Squiglet for rubbishness and sad news.

So, I ended up getting one of our anaesthetists to do acupuncture on Thursday in an attempt to improve my ongoing sick ishoos. I felt better on Friday than I have for months - couldn't believe it! But Sad - it only lasted for 24 hours and I was throwing up again yesterday and have felt crap all day today. Feeling additionally Sad as DD is obviously getting a bit Sad that I'm not able to do much for/with her just now and is now being really funny with me. If she hurts herself she won't let me touch her, just wants her daddy etc. I've been really upset about it today.

On the upside, I'm officially halfway today - yay! And my anomaly scan is tomorrow - hoping that the wriggler DOES keep his/her legs crossed as we definitely want to stay in Team Yellow and I'll be really upset if we find out.

Kayano · 02/10/2011 23:35

I've got that Sunday night gloom! Don't want to go to work tomorrow but no reason I can't. I just can't wait til Dec! I have so many holidays I can be off from mid December with holidays and only start maternity leave Feb first, with LO due on 15th. I'm very lucky but still

throws a wobbler

Don't make me goooooo!!!!!!

woowa · 02/10/2011 23:54

I laboured in a lovely corner bath in birthing suite with DD, and they put lavender in the water. You don't notice it after a few minutes, but it is a lovely relaxing smell, and i think one of the keys to getting through labour is to be relaxed as possible so your body can do its thing. (as relaxed as you can be with all that pain). I don't think you can have lavender in a water birth though as it could hurt baby's eyes etc.

Came to the point of acceptance of having a boy, this morning. We don't know and aren't going to find out, but i've been worried because I just can't imagine a boy after 2 years of a girl!! Good to come to terms with it. roll on february.

WAY past my sleep time!! Night all

22+5
