Ladies, our previous thread was getting full so here is a lovely new shiny home for us all.

I've put some comfy cushions around and plenty of pregnancy safe snacks and drinks. The Segway park is in the corner over there next to the stack of glittery vom buckets (plenty of extra buckets too for all the newbies).

In the corner over here you'll find our library of leaflets including sections on early pregnancy private scan clinics, pushchairs and car seats.

Hope you all like it very much :)

I think it'll all even out a lot weight-wise. Last time I lost half a stone, but then put on 2 by term (so at least 1.5 stone above my normal weight by term I think). And i carried big!!! Be a bit different this time i think... My mum has had dd for first time this afternoon. Dh and I went and looked at cars, to have an idea of pre-baby outlay. Scary. It's a bus, the 7 seaters we looked at. Like driving a minibus...

Anyone done anything more fun today??

musicalmrs · 09/10/2011 17:49

dream, we were looking at cars yesterday (DH gets a company car in a couple of months, so we have to choose soon), and I saw the 7 seater bus like cars and thought of you! They are absolutely huge..

I'm surprised I haven't yet put on much weight (only about half a lb) despite all the extra eating I've been doing. I suspect I wasn't quite eating enough before, and now my body's demanding more. However, the trend in my family is to put on quite a bit of weight during pregnancy, so I'm sure it'll get me soon - only at 8w+5 after all.

Feeling very very lucky that I haven't had as many problems as many of you with nausea. I am subscribing to dream's Mars Bar scale though, sadly (I've always dealt with illness that way rather than via puking!), in between being constipated! What larks...

I am also more spotty than I ever have been in my life. Every time I think it's clearing up, it comes back even worse. Still, there are worse things...

pommedechocolat · 09/10/2011 18:03

If we're talking about the bottom area I have been farting like a trooper since my BFP. ANd they STINK!!
DH declared me 'gufftastic' the other day.
musicalmrs - my skin is starting to calm down now which is lovely. I had bad acne in my twenties so it scares me witless.

pommedechocolat · 09/10/2011 21:57

I appear to have killed the thread with my farting and spots!

jaggythistle · 09/10/2011 22:52

i shall rescue you with some burp chat if you wish. i cannot stop bloody burping, it's disgusting.

they're massive as well, i feel like i get a bit of a build up.

just to lower the tone further, we took my parents out for tea last night and being very glamorous i went home and copiously puked the lot up. respect to those throwing up lots, i can't even cope with a couple of times a week. every day must be awful. :(

crawled off to bed with my throat all burnt feeling, lovely.

glad scan was good duke :)

I'm so fat already that I'm scared to get on the Wii and see. i will eventually though as i still find it amusing to see my weight chart from last pg. i put on about 3 stone and looked huuuge.

jaggythistle · 10/10/2011 08:45

oh. burp chat hasn't helped then. Grin

morning all!

dreamfeeder · 10/10/2011 11:49

Morning!

Actually, I may be slightly better today. By this time yesterday I'd been sick 7 times and only up to 3 so far. Improvement, maybe it's going!!!!!!!! No Buccastem so far!!!!

Had my flu jab today. Absolutely fine, hardly noticed it at the time, bit of a sore arm now. Very relieved I've had it though. I am going to do everything I can to lower my pregnancy risk!!!

Jaggy, i find throwing up when you've eaten about 2-3 hours ago the worst- most vile tasting, most burn-y, most unpleasant. No wonder you suffered. First thing in the morning is ok ish as you're empty, bile doesn't taste good, and bringing up stuff that yellow never looks nice, and the wretching tends to hurt my tummy, but it's my favourite puke iykwim- almost nothing to come up, can hug the basin not the loo etc etc.

A new-ish friend (who I met while stalking firemen training in the river walking DD to sleep as a little baby, saw her with pram+ similar-age looking baby, started discussing lush firemen and realised one was her husband!!) is coming round today, I'm so excited because she also has twin 7 year olds and there's so much I want to ask her! She has discussed how hellish it was with them before though- that you can't 'pop' anywhere, that even going to see a friend who doesn't have on-drive parking is a nightmare as = double buggy out of boot, 2 babies out of carseats, into double buggy, which then won't go into the person's house etc etc.... It sounds like she stayed in, a lot... But they were her first, and I can't do that with DD so hoping she reassures and doesn't frighten the life out of me!!!

And jen, I meant, but didn't have time to write yesterday, that if you're losing weight, struggling to get adequate nutririon in etc etc I was reassured it was totally valid to try an anti-emetic. I was warned about not being blase with them, and not over-using, but I had had my urine tested and negative for ketones (so not clinically dehydrated) when I was prescribed anti-emetics with DD, to ensure I DIDN'T get dehydrated, could eat and drink, and could generally maintain a healthier pregnancy. I only really took them quite rarely in my first pregnancy, never max dose. If you're still as bad, I would say try another gp. Hoping you're feeling a bit better. It will pass!!

Loving the burp and fart chat. I did a massive fart last night, that I wasn't expecting to be so bad while sat on the sofa and DH looked totally disgusted!!

Oh, and I meant to say Dream I am so sorry that you're such an expert on which pukes are the best - no one should have to have this knowledge :(

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 10/10/2011 11:59

Puking sounds terrible. I think I'll definitely stick with my farts!

dream - a lady I know at a baby group and twins brings one in, gets one of us to watch him and then gets other doing the reverse on the way out. I think places with doors right next to easy car parks might be your dream destinations for a bit! But then it'll all settle down and be amazing.

I've got my flu jab next week (booked it a month ago though - lots of OAPS round here!) and have caught a really horrible cold from dd (her croup virus I presume). Am now trying not to google things as being ill in pg scares me.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 12:02

Oooh, also Dream I think maybe TAMB(is that right) perhaps arrange local things too so you might be able to meet other twin-ners?

My friend and I were out for coffee one day and there must have been 10 sets of twins at the same place as us so it must have been a meet up of some sort. Maybe your friend would know of anything similar locally? (and she's a lucky one being married to a fireman Wink - I nearly bumped into the back of another car while ogling some particularly fine firemen in traffic one day Blush)

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 12:02

TAMBA maybe....

BartletForAmerica · 10/10/2011 13:45

Sorry I have been so bad at replying. I've been reading, but have been so tired and sick that I just haven't been able to write anything decent. Thankfully it is mainly retching rather than vomiting.

Congratulations, duke.

jen, please see a different GP about the sickness. Don't wait until you become dehydrated!

fishcakefoxtrot · 10/10/2011 14:27

Duke, I am so pleased to see you had a good scan! Hurray for a fluttery heartbeat! I hope you had a lovely Sunday.

But Dream, Bartlett, and Jen, I am so sorry to hear you are still so miserabley pukey. I hope you all feel better soon.

Thanks for the flu jab reminder. Something to look forward to. Am glad to hear it didn't hurt Dream, I am such a wimp. Does anyone know if it's recommended for small children this year?

I have been feeling much better over the last week, the hangover seems to be lifting! However, I too am very windy Blush. DH is away with work at the moment and a friend came over to keep me company- not being able to just let them out made me realise how windy I am! Where do all these farts come from?!

Am away to see my sister tomorrow and am going by train. Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can keep a two year old occupied and on my lap for four hours? I need a lie down just thinking about it...

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 15:02

Fishcake I don't think littlies get the jab. DS certainly hasn't been 'invited' - he was invited for the swine flu jab the year before last when they did everyone between 6 mths and 5 yrs, but nothing since. Don't know if they do any sort of catch up thing for those that didn't get the swine flu thing that year?

I know a friend of mine was going to get hers at a normal pharmacy (ie paying for it) and I asked if they were all getting it (including her two little girls) and she said they weren't allowed it apparently?

Might be worth asking when you enquire about yours though?

4 hours on a train with a toddler? Good luck!! Um..... Things to do: Colouring, Stickers, a magazine (like a CBeebies one or whatever)

If you have an iphone or ipad could you load on a few episodes of something they like to watch on TV? Might be good while at your sister's too depending on how set up for children she is? My sister has no children so we always take something like that in case of emergency entertainment being required while we're there!

In fact there are lots of apps and things you could get if you've got an iphone?

Plus about a hundredweight of snacks and drinks.

Is it really a 4 hour journey? Do you get to change trains at all?

I had by flu jab last week when I went to tell the doctor I was expecting. She had a pack on her desk so just offered me one! It was fine until sat when I woke up with snotty nose and headache. Luckily by the afternoon I was feeling better!
I took my sister for a sweep today so hopefully we wil see baby in the next day or so.

jenfraggle · 10/10/2011 16:07

I've seen 2 different drs and both of them said no pills to me. Looks like that is the policy at my surgery

dreamfeeder · 10/10/2011 19:14

well jen I think you've been shortchanged, you poor thing.... I'll pop some of mine in the post for you ;-) (hopes Bartlet won't strike her down for this handing on of prescription medicine). How are you?

I am super chirpy. Not been sick since this morning, eaten lunch. Feeling very pleased with myself. No pills today, only been sick 3 times Grin. If you're too excited about something, say for example, having twins, this does not mean it'll jinx it, does it?!?!

biscuits and fishcake, i searched for somewhere to give DD the swine flu jab last year aftre DH said he was seeing masses, we even considered not taking her to baby groups to lower her possible exposure. I had no luck finding someone to vaccinate an under 5. Privately don't do it either. So she isn't vaccinated, and hasn't been called this year either.

dreamfeeder · 10/10/2011 19:14

oh, and I wasn't quite paranoid enough to stop taking her to germ-filled places!!!!

BartletForAmerica · 10/10/2011 19:20
Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 19:23

DS got it the first year it came out, and I know a lot of my friends never took their DC. But DH had had swine flu and the thought of DS going through anything like DH did was unthinkable so we got the jab done for him as soon as we could.

To be honest I've never looked into it since and I don't know if swine flu has mutated like annual flu does, or if he is still covered?

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 19:28

Gosh, my bra has been really uncomfortable today. I shall be so cross if I have to go and get new bras again. These industrial sized ones ain't cheap you know!

Huff :(

OP posts:
MeconiumHappens · 10/10/2011 19:52

I believe the swine flu jab is still the same for last year, so if you had it last year you'd still be covered, but new seasonal flu jab will be different. Dont think children are getting it this year, just last year. Possibly they assume the vast majority of parents who were interested got it done last year and so are still covered?

Did a bit of shopping at weekend, found a few really nice maternity tops for very small pennies in places like peacocks/matalan sale, was really pleased. As lovely as some of the m&p/oliver etc things are I plan to avoid spending a lot on clothes for such a short period of time, seems crazy really. Most of my normal clothes will give me a few months space as i tend towards more floaty than clingy, so really its just the very large bump that will need dressing. Im looking out for a nice winter coat as being due in May will give me lots of wear.

ps biscuits i have outgrown all my bras. had to go buy DD's at weekend, have never had boobs like it in my life, and surprised how hard it is to get a DD there never seem to be any on the shelf!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/10/2011 19:58

DD Meconium - I would rejoice for a DD :(

I'm a H currently. Or a HH I can't remember (and have taken it off now I was so fed up with it Sad)

So Bravissimo do me nicely at the mo but they're like £30 a pop! I was already refitted at 8 weeks :( :( :(

DH will have to get a second job to keep me in bras. And he already works about 90 hours a week :(

Maybe I should send DS up the chimneys?
