Ladies, our previous thread was getting full so here is a lovely new shiny home for us all.

I've put some comfy cushions around and plenty of pregnancy safe snacks and drinks. The Segway park is in the corner over there next to the stack of glittery vom buckets (plenty of extra buckets too for all the newbies).

In the corner over here you'll find our library of leaflets including sections on early pregnancy private scan clinics, pushchairs and car seats.

Hope you all like it very much :)

Ooooooo Jaggy! Your 12 week scan is on the 14th?! We've got quite a little club going! That's when my scan is, and I'm pretty sure it's Meconium who is also on the same day!! We can do the scary wait together!

The people who already know I'm pg keep asking how it's going, but without a scan I feel like I don't know how to answer that q! I'm keeping up the No Brooking though, and throwing in a little positive visualisation for good measure. I would be incredibly worried that the fibroids they found at the 8 week scan will have grown hugely and will still be covering my cervix, but fortunately I'm brooking absolutely no argument that they will instead have shrunk to nothing! Therefore clearly I have nothing to worry about on that front!

Dream I'm sorry to hear you're still puking so much, I'm still No Brooking that this will pass much earlier than last time!

I hope everyone else has had a good weekend?

scarletfingernail · 02/10/2011 23:05

Oh dream sorry to hear the puking is not showing any sign of buggering off Sad I really feel for you.

jaggy what a relief to finally know when your scan is going to be, seems like you've been waiting to find out forever.

My 12 week scan is on the 12th so I'll join the posse if that's ok as it's only 2 days before you guys. I've told a few friends our news now, but it will be nice to finally be able to talk about it openly with everyone.

I'm still nauseous a lot. Weirdly it always seems to be worse on a Sunday Confused not sure what I do differently.

Great news Dumbledore that you have your delivery date and it's going to be earlier that you expected. Even less time to wait.

Hope you're feeling better hawthers

Hope everyone else is doing well and has had a good weekend Smile

jaggythistle · 02/10/2011 23:13

ooh scanathon on the 14 th then. it is indeed my 12 week one.

we'll have to take DS with us. I'm going to tell him we'll be watching mummy's tummy on 'tewy'(telly) as he calls it. Grin will also be armed with emergency bag of chocolate buttons lovely healthy snacks.

aw dream i am brooking no argument that your Puking will be over very soon.

night night all. am up a bit late after a reviving afternoon nap...

hawthers · 03/10/2011 11:02

how are we all doing this fine morning?

brooking no arguments all over the place for everyone this morning so hopefully you should all feel the effect in around 20 mins or so. in the meantime i've just raided the fridge (wfm today) and am going to snaffle a sausage from the bbq and then keep up with regular raids to help the time pass quicker.

I've had an appt with the evil internet this morning and googled est baby weights and they are all telling me that nugget is on the 25th percentile not the 10th as in my notes by consultant - hmmm will be having a few words later in the week with them to double check what is written - just doesn't seem right to me.

hope the vommers are managing to feel a bit more settled and pleased to hear that dates for scans are all coming up - IT WILL BE FINE!

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 11:10

Hawthers - thank you for your brooking - I feel better already!

Glad you're feeling good about the centile stuff too - 25th centile is even betterererererer - go Baby Hawthers!!!

On the topic of centiles, we measured DS yesterday (he's turned 3 so we thought we'd put his weight and height in his red book) and since he was 2 and a half he has suddenly shot up from the 75th centile to like just above the 98th centile. I might have the tallest 3 year old in the country Shock!! He was 1m 5cm for reference!

I mean it isn't really a shock, DH is 6'5"-6'6" ish so we were expecting him to be tall, but eeek!!!

When I take him to pre school, he is about the same size as some of the kids in the reception class and he doesn't go to school for another 2 years - I hope I can get uniform to fit!

Hello all,

After a weekend of more puking than is necessary I feel a lot better this morning and haven't been sick yet, a lovely reprieve. Clearly the No Brooking you guys have done for me, thanks so much Grin

hawthers, 10th or 25th, your baby is growing and getting bigger, you are doing a marvellous incubation job (not that you didn't last time) and it is very hard not to worry. I tried not to google single umbilical artery when that was diagnosed on DD's 20 weeks scan (and un-diagnosed at a 21 or 22 week scan) but failed and stressed myself out with the IUGR and 1 in 50 chance of a birth defect risk, most commonly genito-urinary linked totally, for NO REASON!!!! And I'm sure you're worrying for no reason too, Baby Hawthers seems to be doing just fine and will hopefully surely continue to do so.

jaggy good job I came on here, have forgotten to ring about my missing notes after all, and I will hunt out my CD and find the brand soon- can't remember off the top of my head. Might google, I'd recognise the box.

3 days to my 12 week scan, oh it'll be such a relief if its good news!!!

DD has had a little friend over to play, and she's waking up from her nap now with said friend barely gone (I put her down regardless and had another brew with her mum). Disappointed I've missed out on more of a sit down, but oh well.

biscuits, I've got maternity coats on the brain and it's all your fault. i don't think the red one is suitable- after all, you couldn't really wear that with trainers.... boo. Anyone else's opinion? Biscuits is a bad influence on me ;-) www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+wool-mix-classic-coats-in-coats-jackets-and-knits+B4184 NB I am not stylish, and I am 5'4" and size 8-10, so I think I'd look rubbish in this. Oh, and I am a confirmed trainer wearer... trying to branch out into flat boots if I can find some that fit...

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 13:03

Grin at being a bad influence. if anyone is interested, this is what I've ordered.

i think it looks a bit funny in the picture on its own but nice on the model lady. Doubt I'll come out looking quite like her though.

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 03/10/2011 13:08

Thanks dream :) I am also a trainer wearer. I impulse bought some DM boots in spring (not the lace up ones, although I was tempted to pretend to be 14 again) so am looking forward to getting some wear out of them.

Told my boss this morning. I was going to do a cheeky wee email as I wasn't sure when I'd see her, but she appeared at 8.23 so I cornered her. She was very nice and excited as expected, although not as excited at the thought of more maternity cover. We had a bit of a baby boom in our department 2009/10 - 3 in a year and it's not a big team!

Glad to get it off my chest. Was so stressed i forgot what I was supposed to be doing though and have been completely disorganised all day Blush

This is obviously helping....

musicalmrs · 03/10/2011 13:15

Hi all!

A scanathon next week? How exciting!

Bet you feel relieved to tell all jaggy. I've told one of my employers - the one I work for the most. Yet to tell the other two, not sure when to do it.. hmm.

Had mine this morning, and everything's ok! Heartbeat present, measuring at 7w+6. They also sorted out everything else while I was there - my midwife referral, booked a 12 week scan (Nov) and sorted out paperwork for bloods. Phew!

So relieved - feel I can actually get excited now! That is, when I'm not feeling rubbish, or eating us out of house and home...

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 13:19

Yay Musical Grin - so pleased for you. Did they tell you how many weeks or anything?

Last year I bought some boots a bit like this to wear with jeans (hilariously these come in the 'high' heel section Hmm and mine were different but similarish in style). I thought they would be comfy enough to wear for a day out shopping but a wee bit smarter than the skechers I normally get about in. And it does mean I can pull off a slightly smarter coat too. They're hardly high fashion, but it would look odd if I had very fashionable feet and the rest of me just looked a state Blush

BartletForAmerica · 03/10/2011 15:14

Wonderful news, musical. I've not been around recently as I've been away lots but I knew your scan was today so knew I had to come back and check.

I have found a new treatment for morning sickness - fizzy cola bottles!

hawthers · 03/10/2011 15:29

yey for musical congrats!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/10/2011 19:29

Congratulations Musical! that really is wonderful news. Also congrats to Hawthers (if that's the right word?) at your little one going from the 10th to the 25th percentile. I think it should count as congratulations simply because without your detective work you would never have known! If you speak to the midwife and it turns out she just wrote completely the wrong thing in your notes I'd be tempted to make a complaint! How can they effectively monitor your pg if they're writing nonsense in your notes?!

Yay for a new addition to the scanathon next week, the 12th definitely counts Scarlet!

I also totally agree with everyone who's been dying to tell their boss their news. I keep coming up with excuses to tell mine, just because I hate the feeling of keeping a secret and because I'm so rubbish at making up excuses for things like not drinking. Right now I'm squeezed into a tight summer top which fit a few weeks ago but now makes me look grotesquely flabby with huge boobs that are practically falling out! I've bought a few warm tops that make my rapidly swelling pot belly look relatively normal, but I have nothing for warm weather! Anyways, rant over, I will be doing my best to zip my lips until after the 14th, and in the mean time I'll distract myself by looking at all the pretty maternity clothes you ladies have posted links to!

we are all going to ignore the fact that clearly the amount of swelling my belly has done cannot possibly be explained solely by a pg of only ten weeks!

scarletfingernail · 03/10/2011 19:33

Fantastic news musical I'm so thrilled for you.

Hey Bartlett good to see you. Any nausea tips are gratefully received. My latest is cans of bitter shandy cold from the fridge. I only dare have 1 per day but I think the alcohol is pretty non-existant

My jeans have become impossible to wear over the last week. I'm now living in leggings Blush I know I was not this big already last time. I started wearing maternity clothes around 20 weeks with DS, but I reckon they'll be down out of the loft by my 12 week scan this time Shock

dreamfeeder · 03/10/2011 20:02

scarlet, its bad isn't it... the second time round expansion at 100 miles an hour... I'm fine clothes wise still as I lost weight with the vomming, though i've stabilised now, but the belly is SO there. Struggling to conceal it. Glad the scan's thurs and my worst-ever-kept-pg secret is over! By evening I am literally the size I was at about 17-20 weeks last time. I wore my own jeans to 27 weeks last time- well, one pair that were very hipster-y, but doubt that will happen this time. I don't think they'll be out soon, but I think people (well, more than the 2 who've already dared!) will spot the bump.

Congratulations musical, wonderful news and such a relief for you I'm sure. Of course, we all knew there was no doubt anyway Wink

hello bartlet, i tried fizzy sweets, opposite effect for me I'm afraid... Now cadburys, galaxy and wispa, they seem to go down a treat...

hawthers · 03/10/2011 20:15

bartlet have you tried fizzy pig tails from m & s? Might have the same effect and they are lush Grin

scream total legend of a mw has chilled me right out. Apparently babies don't grow at a steady rate and if you scanned anyone the amount I'm being scanned you get loads of fluctuation. I'm measuring spot on for dates and she said the baby feels a really nice good size to her. Plus she said i look like a heifer have a lovely good sized bump from just looking at me. Clearly she got the memo from all you brookers - thanks!

scream dream and scarlet I hit the maternity jeans at home by 12 weeks when last time I'n sure it was around 18 or so. Def look like I've swallowed a beach ball at 28 weeks. Am trying to embrace it and believe I look blooming!

MeconiumHappens · 03/10/2011 20:20

fantastic news musicalmrs so so pleased :) You must feel so relieved, enjoy getting excited now :)

Yay for scan-fest next week. Am so excited i could pee myself. In fact all ive done today is pee. I even had to excuse myself whilst with a customer today as I HAD to pee NOW. Blush

Am feeling pregnant now, have a real aversion to loads of food, namely anything healthy, so despite all my plans to eat all wonderous baby growing food i have today eaten porridge for breakfast, macdonalds for lunch and cocoa pops and an ice lolly for tea. Blush Have never been one for crappy macdonalds type food but now i just yearn for it like a spotty teenager. Maybe its because i have the complexion of a spotty teenager. Thank heavens for the pregnacare. Am nibbling on pears, cashews and oj though so there are some nutrients going in baby mecs direction.

i bought a maternity coat about 4 months ago! It was from debenhams, on ebay, brand new but went for about £3 so couldnt resist!

dreamfeeder · 03/10/2011 20:35

meconium, snap snap snap with eating junk and feeling guilty... I am struggling to eat anything healthy, though did have jacket potato tonight, phew..

hawthers, fabulous news!!!

dreamfeeder · 03/10/2011 20:38

oh- and I have been told they will not scan me without notes on Thurs (WTF!?!?! it's not my fault) so I have an emergency added-on-the-end mw appt tomorrow to repeat my inital appt but get some notes this time, damn it!!! My midwife (I saw a fill-in last time, there's only one attached to my GP surgery) also said she had no idea I was pg again, so somethign hass clearly gone wrong for me with booking in. Boo...

I'm nervous the scan isn't booked now. Very nervous... meant to be 9:40 on Thurs...

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 20:43

Dream can you phone the hospital directly to check re the scan tomorrow? Do you have a letter from the hospital? If do make sure you take it on Thursday!

Glad the m/w could squeeze you in though - hope they can sort everything out for you

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 03/10/2011 20:52

I have no letter, no paperwork, nothing....

MW was a bit shocked I think, she told me she'd see me as an extra. At least she's being nice (shes a bit scary normally). I will try and phone I think, or get her to phone and check as I find it so hard to find the phone numbers for these places!! I rang the GP surgery for community MW number today, they didn't have it either, couldn't find on internet, they gave me ante-natal at the hospital who gave me the MW's mobile number! Convoluted...

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 21:03

In the absence of any better telephone no I would phone the main hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to the Antenatal department or Antenatal ultrasound or whatever - in fact given I wouldn't know the name of the Dept, I'd just ask for whoever scans pee stick endorsed Preggos!

Good luck and thank goodness your mw is on your side! If you want the nuchal scan thing though and your appt isn't booked properly make sure they get you in before the cut off - whenever that is?

Please Brook for me. Nuchal results came back as 1:10 risk of Down's. I am not managing to think positively at all right now.

Purplebuns · 03/10/2011 21:45

Oh Dumbledore!! You still have 9 chances of it being absolutely fine. I am brooking hard. I cannot imagine how you are feeling right now are you going to have any further tests? Possibly try posting on antenatal test boards for people who have been through the same? We are all here for you though. Thinking of you :(

Biscuitsandtea · 03/10/2011 21:47

Oh Too - how awful for you to have to go through this Sad

I'm thinking of you and brooking for you like crazy. But also sending you some proper snuggly hugs xxx
