Ladies, our previous thread was getting full so here is a lovely new shiny home for us all.

I've put some comfy cushions around and plenty of pregnancy safe snacks and drinks. The Segway park is in the corner over there next to the stack of glittery vom buckets (plenty of extra buckets too for all the newbies).

In the corner over here you'll find our library of leaflets including sections on early pregnancy private scan clinics, pushchairs and car seats.

Hope you all like it very much :)

oooh, home by night to feed the LO and put her to bed bartlet! More appealing! If I am still this bad I will see a GP tomorrow- the GP today said dehydration is bad for the baby (I would have thought they took what they need whatever, but...) and i don't want to feel I am doing wrong by the little prawn. I'm very optimistic though. I feel better after this drink than in a bit, think the anti emetic is helping! I'm not really really poorly. I took DD to the playground again this morning. Really really poorly people can't do that. I'm just a bit pukey.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2011 15:21

There are a few friends I'm really looking forward to telling too - since most of them have just popped out babies I don't have too many worries about upsetting any ttc-ers (apart from my poor poor friend who has been trying for yonks like us and texted me this week to say she has had a mc at 9 weeks - I'm devastated for her and can't imagine how I'll tell her Sad)

dreamfeeder · 16/09/2011 15:31

Oh biscuits, all the others will be wonderful to tell, apart from your poor friend... how awful

Now, my tummy is really rumbling. I'm going to brave some food...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 16/09/2011 15:31

Oh Biscuits your poor friend! That's so sad. Can she join our ttc thread?! Maybe we can start doing some remote No Brooking on her behalf!

You've been trying as long as she has, so I'm sure she'll know how much this means to you. She'll still be happy for you I'm sure. It's so sad though, my heart goes out to her.

dreamfeeder · 16/09/2011 15:31

hmmm, what to try for my first food I WON'T vomit back up since that bit of toast at 6 pm last night...

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2011 15:37

Um - toast? Start safe Dream - leave the fois gras until supper......

I know - it is so so sad about my friend - I have been secretly brooking for her!! I can't bear to tell her but know I have to as I don't want her to find out from someone else. And she's bound to notice if I just turn up with an extra child one day :(

(I don't mean it to sound like I'm making light of it - I'm really not and am truly heartbroken for her)

It is just doubly horrible for her with me being due just before she would have been - what a horrible reminder - and would have been so amazing if we'd both been lucky and due at the same time - Sad Sad Sad

Scream - we're here to listen! Rant away! That's ridiculous that even though you phoned them to forewarn them, they made you go all that way anyway! If it's any consolation, whereas I used to come home from work (teaching) and then do more work (composing/arranging), I'm now coming home from work having used up all my energy and being completely knackered... luckily I only had a half day today, so I'm now at home resting for a few hours.

dream I'm glad you've got yourself checked out, and that the Doctor's keeping his eyes peeled over you. Brooking no argument for you - though I'm sure having an IV in to alleviate all your hunger/thirst would be something you'd be grateful for after having it done (even if scary initially!).

fishcake and dream - I contacted my nearest EPU this morning. It seems you can't go there without a referral from either A&E or a GP, but they said they'd chase up my notes. Literally as I was writing this they've phoned back, and said that the A&E didn't feel I needed referring, so I'll have to wait and see my GP (Friday). So that's the end of that I suppose! I would have been happy with either a further blood test or an early scan - just to check things were going as they should, but apparently I'll be getting neither at the moment. Ho hum..

I'm feeling a lot more positive now (and a lot more pregnant thanks to some new symptoms - hellooo sore boobs!), so I'm just trying to brush it to one side. Working on Menconium's suggestion that I just have a juicy womb ;)

Biscuits - that's lovely to have such a lovely response from a friend :) Must be so difficult with the one who has recently m/ced though.. I'm aware that I have a few friends who have struggled/given up ttc, and I don't know how to deal with telling them the news. What I'm more concerned about is my sister in law going on about it on Facebook (she's one of those types!) and upsetting the family on that side that are currently struggling.. but I suppose that's out of my hands, though maybe we'll have to mention to her that we don't want it blurted out on FB and that might make it easier on them.

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2011 16:55

Dream - how'd the food go?

I'm keeping everything crossed xx

Hello!

Biscuits and Meconium, yay for the scans! So glad everything went well, although it is a pain being put back, Meconium - the same happened to me and they said I was only 6+5 instead of 8+3, grr. Still, the important thing is that there is a bean with heartbeat bobbing away in there. It is astounding what they can see at 12 weeks - I remember them pointing out nostrils to me!

Dream, has the Brooking or possibly the pills worked? Have you managed to keep something down? If not, I am going to join the queue behind Bartlet and nod sternly at you until you go back to be rehydrated. You'll feel so much better!

Musical, hope things stay nice and calm and non-scary - am brooking big time for you here!

Biscuits, your poor friend Sad. What a horrible thing to happen. On the telling people front, last time we went to visit PIL at about 11 weeks or so and told them then. Expected to be outed the minute we arrived and were offered a drink, but BIL and kids were staying and my year-old niece was in the bath screaming hysterically so we were told to help ourselves to drinks. So we waited until during dinner when FIL asked DH what we were growing at the moment (ie, in the garden) and DH said "babies", and there was this confused pause while they tried to work out what he meant. MIL's face went Confused Shock Smile - it was hilarious! This time we told people much earlier, mainly on the phone, so it was less momentous.

I am 11+1! Smile I am v pleased because it felt like I was 10 weeks forever 11 weeks feels like a big step forward.

scarletfingernail · 16/09/2011 18:10

scream I would be mighty Angry about that trip to the dentist as well. I hope you're not suffering with something nasty? Toothache sucks.

dream I'm so pleased you've seen your GP. Now make sure you take their advice. If you need to go into hospital it will be for the best and hopefully it will be like Bartlet said and you can come home for the evening.

Biscuits how lovely of your friend. That is exactly how my friend reacted (the one and only one that I told at 5 weeks). She's obviously a very good friend knows you so well and knows you've had a difficult time.

Bartlet I also had a bacon craving this afternoon. I had to have it, it was all I could think about, so I had a delicious bacon and mushroom sandwich. Yum.

jenfraggle · 16/09/2011 18:37

Now this is probably a really stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. I'm booked in for waxing and a manicure tomorrow. Do I need to tell them that I'm pregnant? I don't want any problems but don't want to look silly by saying if I don't need to IYKWIM.

I nearly fell asleep in work today. I was struggling to keep my eyes open and ended up having to go outside to get some air. The others were suggesting I have a strong coffee...

Biscuitsandtea · 16/09/2011 18:45

Oooh could just eat a yummy bacon and mushroom baguette with nice melted cheese all over top

Jen I don't know to be honest re the waxing. I think a manicure would be ok, and I think that with waxing you might find skin is more sensitive? Can't hurt to mention it I would think? I think I would be tempted to? But maybe I'd be making myself look silly too Blush

OP posts:
LoveInAColdClimate · 16/09/2011 18:56

I told them I was pregnant when had a manicure at about 5 weeks so they opened a window to reduce fumes.

dreamfeeder · 16/09/2011 19:02

I'm fixed!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, partly. I have drunk a pint and a bit. Including a dioralyte. Slowly. And eaten a piece of toast, and a bramley apple pie (well, it was there and the thought didn't put me off) and I feel a bit queasy, but better than I have in the last week at any point. I love the new pills!!!!! Hoping it continues into the evening. Very optimistic though Grin however I can't remember the last time i had a wee, i think this morning... and i always wee a lot

too, i LOVE what are you growing? babies!! would love to do that!!

jen, it's tiring growing a baby. I had a scrumptious head massage last pregnancy (at 31 weeks). Could only have booked certain things though (manicure def fine), and i did check before booking. She used a differrent oil because i was pg so I'd tell them, just in case. don't know if it would make any differnece to the waxing, doubt it, but may as well mention it.

jenfraggle · 16/09/2011 19:17

So pleased to hear you are feeling better dream I'm sure this is the result of no brooking pills and will continue.

dreamfeeder · 16/09/2011 19:22

absolutely jen, the puking is OVER. In fact, I may as well hand in my sparkly red vom bucket now, the pills No Brooking is that strong. Now, where's that wee?? I definitely had one this morning....

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 16/09/2011 20:08

Dream I'm so pleased you're feeling better! The bramley apple pie is particularly important - got to make sure you keep up your five-a-day Wink I haven't been able to eat the vast majority of my dinner, but I'm so dedicated to getting enough calcium that I'm still considering a spoonful of ice cream...

Jen I'm afraid I have no idea about the waxing, but I agree with the others that it's probably worth checking. If you're worried about being embarrassed is it perhaps worth calling the salon first thing in the morning and asking about it over the phone? They can tell you whether or not you need to tell the person doing the treatment.

Scarlet thanks for your concern, luckily I don't have toothache - yet! I have rubbish teeth but I'm terrified of the dentist so I was referred for sedation. It took FIVE MONTHS to get the appointment, and now I'm pg so can't have the sedation anyway! I'm just hoping the problems with my teeth don't develop into toothache within the next 7 months or so!

mememummy · 16/09/2011 21:38

I got waxed all the way through my last pregnancy and I told her at 6 weeks (she was a good friend) she said it's safe and just let her no if I was uncomfy lying on my front xx

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 16/09/2011 21:40

Jen, I wouldn't have thought there was anything to worry about with a wax, surely? No fumes or anything...I wonder if it's more painful during pregnancy, the same as during AF? But that's all I can think of. I have heard something about nail varnish - there was a piece in one of the Sunday papers last Christmas about pregnancy-friendly nail varnish. That was the first I'd heard that nail varnish was bad! I don't remember why, though. Fumes?

Scream, calcium is most important. In fact, it is so important I might have to go find some ice cream too.

Dream, hurray, it worked! Now if you only start peeing soon...

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 16/09/2011 21:43

Meme, I have never had to lie on my front when being waxed not even when I foolishly decided to try a Hollywood and wound up raw in unmentionable places! Maybe in more cosmopolitan locations waxers ask this.

Biscuitsandtea · 17/09/2011 06:55

Jen I'm sure I read somewhere that your skin can be more sensitive to waving when pg, so not a problem for the pregnancy, just more uncomfortable for you. Although I am no expert!

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 17/09/2011 07:07

To waving? Erm, that would be waxing! stupid autocorrect! Blush

Imagine if you were wincing every time you waved.....

Morning all!

Biscuits, the lack of weeing was just dehydration... So I woke up this morning, and for a second I felt ok. So stupidly, I had about 5 mouthfuls of water. Without a pill first, in case it was the No Brooking not the pills. That'll teach me. Cue 20 min in the bathroom until I had emptied myself of water and bile... And I still have the runs. Not that I'll complain about that, I know soon enough it will change to constipation. And the baby bit me when I fed her this morning. She is at serious risk of getting weaned quick-smart now.

But anyway, I still feel sick, but my Magic Pills are working again (I'm amazed. Cyclizine never really did much so I assumed, wrongly, none would) and I have had half a pint of water!!!!!! May even be some dry-lip improvement.

How's the scan scream? Have you seen your prawn yet?! Hurry up and come and tell us all about it!!!

2 and a half weeks til my 12 week scan. Not that I'm counting

I so need a wax... I have an epilator but am not getting round to it. I look like a chimp. It is not a good look. And DH suggested DTD last night as I was feeling better. I insisted I was not feeling that much better. Bad wife.
