Had no idea what to call it, sorry. Just googled third trimester and that was the recommendation...

Oh and for those of you who asked, DH got in a spat because at one point when the men and women were having separate discussions, he told the other guys and the NCT lady who was with them at the time that our midwife had told us two things - (1) that raspberry leaf tea softens your cervix and you need to start taking it 8 weeks before your EDD in order for it to have any effect, and (2) it's worth buying a high-quality digital thermometer, because it's more likely you'll be taken seriously if you can say authoritatively "the baby's temperature is temperature is 39.9, I'm worried" rather than "he feels too hot, I'm worried".

NCT lady rubbished both these statements in front of the rest of the group of men and DH was very annoyed - he bottled it up well, but later exploded in the car saying that if one of the women had said these things she might have been more receptive, but because he was a man she was more willing to tell him this was rubbish. Poor old DH! I would have backed him up if I had been there but I was in the group with the other women at the time, so didn't hear the exchange.

fusam · 03/10/2011 12:16

Wow fairy huge congratulations! How are you feeling? Hope you are able to take it easy.

Tyelperion your baby moon sounds like heaven.

I am so glad today isn't as hot as I was struggling this weekend with the heat. I think I was dehydrated as I had constant braxton hicks and swollen hands and feet. Nothing to report here expect I ordered some cute sleep-suits and a pram suit today which made me well up a bit Blush.

I have an appt to meet the consultant in two weeks to decide whether to try for a vbac or elcs and I am still no nearer to a decision. Am lucky in a way that the consultant is happy with the choice to be left up to me. Both options terrify me but baby has to come out on way or another, so I need to put my big girl pants on and get on with the arrangements.

lalababy · 03/10/2011 12:17

Wow fairy. Congratulations! I hope very soon you will have little Albert home with you to give him all the cuddles in the world!!!

hawthers · 03/10/2011 12:17

sorry to be the thread grinch but having a baby prematurely isn't really something to be jealous of. i promise you do not really want to meet them now. sorry to be a miserable old bitch party pooper but it is really horrible having a child in NICU who you have to leave every night somewhere else and who can have a tough time making it out of there.

i know that is not what you mean tyelperion but there can be a few raw nerves associated with premature birth

Xiaoxiong · 03/10/2011 12:30

I'm sorry hawthers it was totally unintentional - unreserved apologies to anyone who I have offended Blush (I would try and explain what I meant but would likely just insert my foot even farther into my mouth!)

I'm really happy for fairy and her family and hope with all my heart that her son continues to do well and comes home soon.

sevensevenseven · 03/10/2011 12:36

tyelperion surely you can't get your foot in your mouth, I can't even reach above the sink to clean the kitchen window anymore! I assumed you wish it was December so we all have our babies rather than wishing you had yours now.

hawthers · 03/10/2011 12:41

oh i know tyelperion and seven am being overly sensitive about it. i know that we all just wish it was december and all is ok and we have our nuggets all safe and sound.

seem to have a bit of a hobby horse that i need to hop on any time anyone mentions prematurity. should really sell it now and find a more suitable hobby....

HoneyLovesCake · 03/10/2011 12:45

Congratulations fairy!!! How terrifying exciting!!! I'm glad that Albert is doing so well & I hope that you're doing ok; it must've been such a shock. I'm eager to meet our LO but I don't like to think how I'd cope if I had to have him/her right now. I hope you get to bring him home really soon :)

lalababy · 03/10/2011 13:06

Sorry to change the topic...but I desperately need for BRA HELP! I am in agony... just got measured (again) this weekend and have gone from a 34C to 38DD...but it doesn't matter what bra I choose they constantly kill around the band! Because my belly starts right underneath my boobs... it seems that every bra that has a band hurts.

Any ideas? (Other than going commando!!!)

OiMissus · 03/10/2011 13:17

I know what you mean lala - all my bras now dig in around the band. The cotton ones are OK for the work day - but they are ripped off as soon as I get home. I keep meaning to look into stretchy vests that offer some support, without a band... will have a wee looky on figleaves. (Cropped vests still have the band that digs in). I don't want to invest in more bras yet as our sizes are due to change even more....

OiMissus · 03/10/2011 13:21

Maybe this is worth a go - but it still has a support shelf... www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product=Emma-Jane-Bamboo-nursing-vest&product_id=EJ-826&size=&colour=White £21 nursing vest

figgygal · 03/10/2011 13:23

God all of my normal bra's still fit and Boobs havent grown at all woe is me!!

OiMissus · 03/10/2011 13:26

or there's this: www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product=Anita-Maternity-Seamless-Comfort-Bra&product_id=ANT-5290&size=&colour=White

(I went from a 32E to a 34FF, but i'm guessing the 34 bit is now too small.)

OiMissus · 03/10/2011 13:28

ignore the last link - unless you are Small in size. (Only size left - sale item)

BeeMyBaby · 03/10/2011 13:38

I always found ugly M&S bras fairly comfortable, although I wouldn't say they were particularly supportive.

Congrats fairybayleaf! Does this mean you will join the September baby bus? Or do you think you may wait to rejoin us in the December baby bus - though I'm sure my December your DS will be very ahead of our babies (do they not say that if a baby is preamture you should halve the number of weeks that they are premature by, and add this to the number of weeks it normally takes) - ie, full-term baby takes around 6 weeks to smile, so if baby is 8 weeks premature, it will be around 10 weeks?

OP posts:
lalababy · 03/10/2011 13:55

Thanks for the link oi missus... will definately give the vest a go... I was commando all weekend just wearing a singlet... but unfortunately it isn't appropriate for me to look like a skank at work Grin

Beemybaby I couldn't give a hoot how ugly the bra is as long as I am not raw or red at the end of day!

lalababy · 03/10/2011 13:56

Figgy... be glad ur boobs haven't changed... it is just another pregnancy myth that it is great when your boobs grow... it isn't... just painful and annoying and another reason to go spend money!

Awomancalledhorse · 03/10/2011 14:14

Tyelperion, sounds like you had a fantastic time! Yay!

Today I'm wearing one of my pre-pregnancy 'support' vests (used to wear them at night, £2 from primark) and a tight, waist tying dress...it's the first time I've not been able to feel my boobs in ages!
Bust has gone up from 36inch to 41inch...wonder how much bigger they'll get?!

I'm trying to buy christmas presents today/make a list of stuff I want..it's nice to be looking at non-baby stuff for a change! Grin

hawthers · 03/10/2011 14:20

my boobs haven't seem to have changed since hitting about 12 weeks so only up a cup size or so but had them measured the other week and the measuring lady said i was a 32 E - hhmmmm i've never been a 32 and i'm certainly not now - am going to hunt down a measuring lady who has actually had a baby next time.

figgy at least you aren't open to comments like this one from my DH who mentioned you could fit a pencil case between my boobs and bump Angry not a wise comment from DH - he was made to suitably apologise!

sevensevenseven · 03/10/2011 14:29

Mine haven't grown since around 12 weeks either, although I did go up 2 cup sizes before then. I agree them getting bigger isn't good, mine were so painful when they were growing.

OiMissus · 03/10/2011 14:45

hawthers you'll find a definite difference where you go to be measured. Selfridges and the "nicer" places will measure you as having a smaller back size - and this fits in with the ranges of lingerie they sell (mainly french - Chantelle, Lejaby, the delectable Aubade, etc), M&S and such like will give you UK sizes (for M&S, Next, etc). They both seem to say they measure you the same way, but tis definitely not so. I thought I was a 34 or a 36 in my younger years until the lady at Selfridges put me right.

Well, we've had one baby at 11 weeks early. There are a lot of us on this thread, so I suppose we are going to hear of more and more early babies, - it's inevitable. Let's hope that we all have healthy, strong little 'uns. Good luck all.

Xiaoxiong · 03/10/2011 14:47

Yes me too seven and hawthers - boobs went up from 34E to 34G by the end of the first tri, so I bought two new bras then (a Panache Porcelain and a Freya Jolie) which still fit.

However I do have the same problem as lala which is that they're starting to dig into the top of the bump when I'm sitting down, as the bump is so high and all out in front! I did order a Royce Jasmine nursing bra which was no better, even with no underwire - the band digs in just as much as the underwire, and the lack of underwire means my boobs, which are pretty malleable at the best of times - and are slightly draping over the bump when I'm not wearing a bra - spread sideways rather unattractively and make me look like I'm wearing a car tyre round my ribcage (and yet somehow the cups are pointy too...an impressive trick!) I think an underwire is probably going to be a necessity for me.

I'll probably keep the Royce as an emergency backup, but will order some Freya and Panache non-underwired nursing bras too and see how they feel since I like those brands, and maybe a couple of underwired nursing bras as well like:

jigglebum · 03/10/2011 14:58

Afternoon - huge congratulations to fairy - I hope everything continues to go well for you and Albert. I have in my head that I am having a december baby so would be totally thrown if it arrives before then!

Glad your babymoon was good tyelperion - I like bristol (apart from the traffic!) We used to live relatively close by. DH is taking me away for my birthday in 2 weekends time to a nice spa hotel somewhere , so looking forward to that and some quality time with DH to talk about DC2 as well. We have been so busy recently.

Had a good day at work this morning but still feeling knackered as DSs cough keeps him and us awake a lot at night still. Right DS has fallen asleep on the sofa so must get something productive done

KateM77 · 03/10/2011 15:36

Congratulations of the safe arrival of Albert fairy Very tough times for you with him being so early, but I'm really pleased to hear he's doing well so far. Take care x

hawthers · 03/10/2011 17:38

in other exciting news we've finally settled on our names for either a boy or a girl although i'm not going to say what they are so possibly a completely pointless post. am terribly bored.
