Had no idea what to call it, sorry. Just googled third trimester and that was the recommendation...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sorelip · 13/09/2011 10:09

Morning all! Yes, backache has triumphed over work.

In other news, my nipples have begun to leak. Is this normal?

mopsytop · 13/09/2011 10:27

Ugh feeling really faint again. Not loving the faintness. Have midwife appt later, maybe she can give me some advice on stopping it. It's not blood sugar I am sure as I ate a big bowl of branflakes with banana only 90 minutes ago.

mopsytop · 13/09/2011 10:27

Also, bizarrely, the faintness often comes on after eating. Wonder why ... anyone else had that?

HoneyLovesCake · 13/09/2011 11:14

Weird mopsy does it sound like this www.buzzle.com/articles/lightheadedness-after-eating.html? Sounds like your blood pressure which may already be low can get lower after eating, maybe try eating slower & smaller meals?

mopsytop · 13/09/2011 11:17

That could make sense Honey and I do tend to eat too fast actually. I haven't been eating huge meals though recently (it wasn't that big of a bowl! big enough to mean I wouldn't be faint from hunger of course :)). I will try eating more slowly though and see if it helps. I hate feeling faint.

plupervert · 13/09/2011 11:26

Sorelip, if you track back through the thread, you are definitely not alone on the leaking! Apparently, it's colostrum! Shock I had to wash bras every day when it was happening to me, as it was crusting in the lace - yeuch! I almost got out my breast pads, but then it stopped.

aethelfleda · 13/09/2011 12:07

sorelip, you can buy a six-pack of fabric washable breast pads (usually come
In a little wash-bag) from boots/tesco/mothercare for about a fiver: slip them in your bra and then wash them every day or two in your regular washing (the six should be ebough). They stop your bra going yucky, some people use them after the birth too, though I found that I needed disposable ones instead when breastfeeding as they held more milk.

Morning everybody! Hope we're all surviving the enormous spiders- not seen any yet but it's probably one of those things like flying ants where the whole country gets them at once...

sevensevenseven · 13/09/2011 12:33

Glad everyone is having a good day. Me and DS went to the park this morning then he helped me do the housework, planning to make lasagnethis afternoon.

We've been getting massive harvest spiders for the last couple of weeks, if DH isn't here I hoover them up then just empty the hoover straight into the compost.

Sorelip · 13/09/2011 14:46

I have just agreed to have two medical students come to my house and discuss my pregnancy, look through my notes and then keep track of me until after I give birth.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. The last medical student I encountered was involved in messing up my pregnancy test...

Meh, too late to back out now.

I've got some disposable breast pads, but I'm going to get some washable ones as well now.

mopsytop · 13/09/2011 15:33

That's great Sorelip. As a research student I am all about helping with studies. I too am doing a study (but at the hospital) and I try and participate in academic studies when I can to repay the karma for all the people who took part in my fieldwork interviews!

My 25 week appointment was pretty routine (apart from all the confusion as I moved town and need new bloods etc. and the midwife didn't realise so couldn't do them today and didn't want to book anything in case the other midwife in the team has already done ... feeling a bit confused now about what I need to do but she said they'd ring me, so let's hope they do!). Nice to hear the bean's heartbeat and all seems well. Measuring 26 and am actually 25+2 so I think that's ok. I hope it doesn't get too big though!

OiMissus · 13/09/2011 17:14

Hi all, greetings from Copenhagen. My big news is that we saw the man utd team at the airport this morning checking in. ( not on the same flight). I was tempted to say to Ryan Giggs, whilst rubbing tummy, "hi again Ryan, it's yours" but I didn't think he'd see the funny side. All the photographers were there. It gave us a giggle though. Alex Ferguson gave me the most lovely smile - and I took a blurred photo. :(
Aren't footballers small? Even Rooney - who looks huge in the tv - was pretty slight. Quite exciting though. :)

figgygal · 13/09/2011 17:57

Aw I love Alex ferguson he reminds me of my dad!! Everytime I see him getting excited cos a goals gone in I feel like I'll cry not sure why!!!

jomouse · 13/09/2011 18:03

Hello everyone.
Shattered mouse here. 2 days of 6am starts and 7pm finishes have done me in. In fact, I'm increasingly of the opinion that work needs to go away. Have to work this Sunday and entertain clients in evenings next week. I am getting close to pushing back. Anyone else needed to remind bosses that they are preggers?
I wish I didn't have to....
Ah well, moving next week and the two weeks off to nest and organise. Cannot WAIT!

mopsytop · 13/09/2011 18:56

Nice one Oi!
I have heart burn and I haven't even eaten! WTF???
Sitting on birthing ball again and back pain slightly better than yesterday, must be strengthening those muscles :)
Don't envy you Jomouse, sounds exhausting.

HoneyLovesCake · 13/09/2011 19:55

Hey All,
Not many posts on here today so you won't mind me leaving a long one. Hmm

mopsy when I'm having a bad acid reflux day it doesn't matter whether I've been eating or not; I'm pretty sure it's more to do with LO's position than anything else. Had less movements today but much bigger ones & I can now distinctly feel LO if I press my bump (usually I just feel the water) unfortunately the new position has given me the most excruciating trapped wind :( I have my 28wk appt tomorrow so I'm hoping MW will tell me baby is in a bad position so I can attempt to turn them. I'd hate to think this is how I'll feel when baby is positioned perfectly...there's no room to breath or eat right now :(

I have been watching homebirths on mybirth.tv all day while working & they are soooo ADDICTIVE. Some are a bit shouty but even watching one that ended in a CS was lovely. I would thoroughly recommend anyone who's using hypnosis to watch Nancy's Birth Diary...so inspiring.

In other news, birth ball hasn't arrived yet :( last kitten just left with new owners :) & flat roofers are finally coming to finish roof ornour garden room tomorrow :o The house is a building site & I had a good cry this morning when a torrential shower came in through the exposed ceiling drenching everything even though I told DP he should've put a tarp over it yesterday Angry It'll all be worth it in the end though...I am in full on nesting mode!

OiMissus · 13/09/2011 20:19

Thanks for the links honey, I'll try and get to them this weekend.
mopsy good to hear the ball is getting easier. :)
jomouse - long days I can do, but there's no way I can do client entertaining in the evening!!! I'm finished by 9, but have lost my sense of humour by 8. No patience at all.
I'm with my team this week, so I don't have to entertain or be anything, and on European time, so I've got that extra hour to save me!
Tomorrow night we'll be at Tivoli (mopsy), but I won't be allowed on any of the rides. :(
Thursday night we've booked a boat tour, so I can put my feet up.
(no excrutiating wind here, or heartburn, but always plenty of wind! I shock myself! But I'm beginning to hide it less and less at home - which is not a good thing. It really ain't sexy!!!)

LittleMissFlustered · 13/09/2011 21:45

Shuffling through in a grump as I am nil by mouth waiting for my GTT tomorrow.

I ordered my pram to make me feel better. 'tis lime green so I can't lose itGrin

Hope everyone manages to bannish their aches, pains and spiders. I don;t mind the spiders. My daughter has a huge one and a tidgy one on her ceiling tonight, but both will probably be gone by tomorrow. My son is in a grump, as he only had a small one in his room yesterday, and not a one tonight. Competitive spider spotting... Only in my house

FairyBayleaf · 13/09/2011 21:57

Just checking in :)

sevensevenseven · 13/09/2011 22:03

Bloody hormones, we just watched Saturdays doctor who on the iplayer and I sobbed nearly all the way through it!

On the sleep front I've gone to bed at a sensible time for the last two nights and actually feel normal today rather than exhausted, this is definitely the way forward.

mopsy sorry about the heartburn, thankfully I never had it with DS so I'm hoping to avoid it this time.

oimissus glad youre having a good time.

sevensevenseven · 13/09/2011 22:06

Meant to ask does my area not do the GTT test or do you only have it if you have certain risk factors? I didn't have one last time (and had never heard of it!) and there's no mention of it in my maternity notes.

BeeMyBaby · 14/09/2011 04:05

My area checks blood sugar at the 28 week appointment, and if its too high they make you come back for the glucose tolerance test. Last pregnancy I stupidly ate a mega bowl of frosties 10 mins or so before my appointment not realising this would happen and my blood sugars came back high, so I had to get the GTT, this time I made sure I only had bran flakes just under two hours before - hopefully I won't have to do the GTT this time!

msbuggywinkle · 14/09/2011 07:57

honey my DDs adore watching home births on there! I introduced them to DD1 when I was pregnant with DD2 but they are now one of their favourite things to watch.

seven I cried a lot at Dr Who this week too. But then I also cried watching 'Nature's miracle babies'.

mopsy It is crap isn't it? I get it a lot (ex-bulimic), my only tips are that lying on my left side helps and make sure you're getting enough iron as antacid tablets/liquids interfere with iron absorption slightly.

This morning I am mostly tired, woke up with nightmares again. I'm about to make myself sound insane but I've started looking for the baby...I'll be watching DD1 and 2 play and suddenly have this moment of panic where I can't find the baby. You know, the one bouncing on my bladder. I've done it with all of them, it is so odd.

HoneyLovesCake · 14/09/2011 08:51

mopsy meant to say yesterday baby brain! if you're going through lots of antacids you can get gaviscon advance on prescription (i.e. FREE) MW sorted it for me at my last appt. It tastes vile but is saving me quite a bit of money as I was going through a pack or 2 of the tablets every wee.

hawthers · 14/09/2011 10:06

i'm feeling exhausted at the moment. seriously unable to keep my eyes open most of the time and can't believe i've got another 10 weeks at work.

speaking of which i managed to sob for a good 20-30 mins last night when discussing with DH when i was going to take maternity leave and how much time I was going to take before the due date. thing is he wasn't objecting to what i was thinking he was just trying to find out what i'd do in the 4 weeks when i'd be off work before the EDD. suddenly couldn't think of a single thing i'd do in that time but the thought of being in work then just made me so upset!

last time i only had 2 weeks before ds1 arrived and had to go to hospital for monitoring every day of that so i'm not acutually sure what i'll be doing - any thoughts anyone? i kind of thought it might be nice to have some time to myself (ds1 will still be in nursery) before impending bedlam arrives but is that ridiculous?

mopsytop · 14/09/2011 10:12

Thanks honey and msbuggy. It has stopped again today - woo!
hawthers I don't think it's unreasonable to want to rest and relax a little before the baby arrives. You'll find plenty to do - anyway you can use some of the time to cook up loads of stuff and freeze it to make life a bit easier once the baby comes. Otherwise I can think of loads of stuff to do - going for coffee and reading books, going for swims, meeting friends, sleeping (!). If that's what you want to do I would say go for it.
