I don't see why it would matter if you don't feel sick yet. Some people don't feel sick at all the whole way through.

I think theres a requirement (check to make sure tho) that you have to tel work by 14 wks before you wish to start mat leave.

Wow, I can't believe it, an August '06 thread. I was due on the second of August this year and DS2 is now 19 weeks old. Good luck to all of you and wishing you a happy and healthy nine months and lots of gorgeous babies.

rockmum · 09/12/2005 10:57

Thanks! that makes me feel a little bit better!!

Got my letter for the scan today, I'm going on the 24th of Jan, seems like ages!! It was horrible reading the booklet that comes with it! about all the possible things that might go wrong and stuff, quite upsetting!

mumsXMASwish · 09/12/2005 11:25

congrats and welcome!

rockmum - great news on the scan front. It is horrible thinking of all the stuff that can go wrong. I didnt get that booklet till the MC tho and I didnt read it for obvious reasons. I'm glad they didnt give it to me at the beginning.

This thread is ENORMOUS! Welcome to everyone new. I'm not booked in at the hospital and haven't seen a midwife. I just rang the Early Pregnancy Unit at my local hospital and said I was a bit anxious because I had a previous m/c. And they gave me an appt just like that--they really are very efficient. Just got to wait until next Weds. Trying not to think about it too much.
I have asthma but only just found out about the peanuts thing. Luckily I'm not fond of them anyway!

mumsXMASwish · 09/12/2005 11:50

Arabica - Are you just booking in or they going to give you early scan?

OP posts:
Arabica · 09/12/2005 11:59

Not booking in. Just a scan. Not even seeing GP until next Fri. Will be booking in at hospital if all goes well around wk 12, they do nuchal scan and booking in at the same time. I have to see hospital midwives as my GP surgery doesn't have links with any midwives.

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 09/12/2005 12:02

Omg Sherpardswatchedtheirflockets, is that Lockets? A big congratulations to you!

Congratulations to webgirl too

Well I feel like rubbish today. Not ill but the whole not having any symptoms is really getting me down. I'm so worried that things aren't right. I called my midwife this morning who said there was nothing she could do cos it's too early. She also said to bear in mind that really I'm only 2 weeks in pregnancy terms not actually nearly 5 IYSWIM.

I'm not sleeping at all through the worry. I don't think I'll rest until I have my scan or I can hear a little heartbeat.

I'm taking dd to her music class in a bit so I'm going to buy another test and see if the line comes up any stronger. Am also going out for a meal tonight with the mums from playgroup so I can have a good chin wag with them and maybe relax a bit.

Hope your all feeling good today anyway

jinglediddle · 09/12/2005 12:29

mums - thought i'd better come and chat on here about you and baby. I really think that you should consider your babies health and yours in all this. you should not be lifting heavy boxes. If you lift the boxes you could put too much strain on your body, and if you don;t lift them, but don't tell work why you can't then they can sack you for not doing your job. If you're up front with them and tell them the truth from day one then they can't find any fault in your work and should be doing whats right for you. otherwise they mgith try and sack you for having too much time off, for docs etc and not doing the job they require you to do.
If they sacked you for being pregnant you can sue them!
I would have a big think about this one. I certainyl wouldn't lift anything. as you know i'm a childminder and all of the parents have made sure that i do not lift the kids for any reason and if needs be they have helped me out. It is really important, please look after yourself.

rockmum · 09/12/2005 12:48

Thank you jingle!

I def want to tell my boss in the NY as I don't want to take time to go scan/mw as AL or sick or anything like that...

I know what you mean NBGS, I'm not feeling sick yet, but as mxw has said do not worry and I think is bad to have too much worry anyway, stress is no good for us and our bbs!

I'm off to eat some lunch, we need to keep out tummies full of good healthy stuff!

mumsXMASwish · 09/12/2005 13:10

NBG - You really need to relax, too much stress is not good for you or babs and if you're not sleeping that won't help either. Seriously, I've heard of loads of people who never knew they were pg until they realised they'd missed 1/2 afs.

I just read in take a break (yeh I know i'm sad ) about a girl who went to the toilet one evening and gave birth to twins and she didnt know she was pg so take it easy.

Didds - I'm not telling them till new year at least because we break up from work in the next couple of weeks, my boss is on leave from end of this week so maybe in the new year?

OP posts:
jinglediddle · 09/12/2005 13:13

oh my god mxw - bet that was a huge shock to her, can't imagine not knowing after all the sickness i have felt. Bet she was in mega shock. I love reading stories like that.

Good idea about waiting till the new year, might as well with xmas being so close, just take it easy, or i'll worry about you

mumsXMASwish · 09/12/2005 13:19

dont worry, I'm doing everything I can to keep this baby safe. Next time I see her coming I'll go to the loo then she cant get me to do anything!! he he he

Ah well, It's her last day today then she's gone till ny. At least I think it's today, cant remember if she said she was doing 1/2 day mon aswel.

OP posts:
jinglediddle · 09/12/2005 13:57

oh dear mums - that sounds very unpleasent, i get a lot of indigestion which is very annoying and wheni smell certain smells i feel really bad, like my dryer, that gives off a smell, only i can smell it of course. Dh thinks i'm mad
Not too much tea hun, it will make you dehydrate and give you headaches if you ahve too much, plus baby will be hyper on caffeine
glad you're feelign yuck and horrible all good signs.

mumsXMASwish · 09/12/2005 14:21

My friend says his mate's wife had cravings for the kettle's limescale, when she finished hers she had to borrow the neighbours!! not sure if she got started on the shower head! hahaha surely not very good for your health!

pucca · 09/12/2005 14:53

Hi everyone,

Congrats to lockets

Well i have just been very naughty..My mum usually takes my nan for her food shopping but she is on holiday at the moment, so i had to do it and carried about 20 heavy bags of shopping up the stairs to her flat! i now have a very achy back

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 09/12/2005 15:12

Stop all the lifting girls!!!

Well I did another test and it's come up a bit stronger but not loads.

I don't know if I'm imagining it but I think I might be getting my first craving. I've just nipped in to the local shopad all I wanted to get was little savoury nibbles. I ended up buying pork pies, mini eggs, onion bhajis, crusty bread, ham and haslet.

And do you know what, I've eaten it all

MumsXmas, I'm a journalist & worked on a story once where a woman went to Marks & Spencer for her Christmas turkey and ended up with 9lbs of fresh baby instead!
