Arabica, Is a CVS a procedure when they stitch the cervix? Did you have that last time?

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 28/12/2005 13:11

Hi everyone!

Trix, if it helps you feel any better my sickness has worn off a bit.

It's been like this since Christmas Day although today I attempted to set up dd's mammoth Thomas Train set and I felt well and truly sick after doing it.
I think this seems to be a running theme with the sickness. The more I do the worse I feel.
I hope your scan goes ok.

I just found out today after alot of confusion with the Dr's receptionist that my appt o the 4th is at home!
The midwife never said at the time so I rang her earlier and she said she was coming to our house.
It's quite nice really as I never had any home visits with dd and also I'll be able to have the dreaded blood tests done in the comfort of my own living room so I might not pass out!

Rubles, thanks for the formes tip. Will go and have a look at that.
I ordered a grey jog suit from additions. It was reduced to £18 so a bit of a bargain there.

I might be going shopping this afternoon with SIL so I ca have anther bargain hunt.

Nbg · 28/12/2005 13:15

Thats better

Changed my name back now!

Snowballstrike · 28/12/2005 17:28

Hi all, hope everyone had a lovely Christams. I told my Grandma on Christmas day and she was thrilled. She started knitting last time, then I had an m/c so she promised to start again after the 12 week scan. I hope I can last till then, with some of you having early ones I'm tempted to put my mind at rest too. I panic at least three times a day that my symptoms have gone, but then I feel sick or my boobs ache and I feel ok again. I know I shall never really relax but I'm looking forward to a time when it all feels less of a worry!

Well I'm out for another evening of lemonade made to look like gin and tonic, in the pub tonight, but I don't think I last long.

Well done with the list Rubles, there's quite a few of us isn't there!

Good news on your scan lunavix you must be so relieved.

Good luck with your scan Trix, I'm sure everything will be fine, but it's good to put you're mind at rest.

Arabica, I'm glad to hear someone else is jogging to. I'm trying to keep up with going to the gym, but I can sense both my mum and my mil tutting at me! I keep telling them, my last m/c was not exercise related, but I still think, they think I'm taking a risk, even though I'm very careful, I just hope I can prove them wrong!

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow!!!So far so good.

Sorry for the huge message.

Arabica · 28/12/2005 22:51

Hiya Snowballs. No reason for any tutting! The midwife at the EPAU told me that if you're used to exercise there is no harm in exercising moderately in the first 12 weeks, so no reason to blame yourself if anything happens. For me that means a (very) gentle jog is OK; for a more experienced runner that can mean doing a marathon! And if I didn't exercise I would really be enormous, I was 2st over my ideal weight before getting pregnant and have put on 8lbs already, mainly caused by being unable to exercise for 6 wks due to sprained ankle.
Someone asked what a CVS is--it's a test where they pass a needle into your uterus and take a sample from the placenta. It can tell you 100% if the baby has downs. It's recommended for older mums like me! Amniocentesis is performed later in pregnancy & personally if I am going to have an invasive test would rather have it done sooner than later.

pucca · 29/12/2005 10:42

Well i had my scan, and all is good, seen the heart beating away and also saw my little bean on the screen. They have dated me so far as being 6 weeks (should have been 7) so will not know EDD for sure until my next scan on 1st Feb ...but should be around the 20th Aug.

trix1 · 29/12/2005 11:17

Hello - just been for my scan and everything was ok

We could see the heartbeat much clearer than last week - I had tears of joy.

They said I am measuring 6 1/2 weeks my dates tell me I will be 7 weeks on Saturday so it sounds about right. Roll on the next 7 weeks I am willing them to pass qucikly.

Good news about your scan too Pucca - my edd is the 19th August.

hope everyone else is feeling ok, I woke up this morning and the sickness had returned with a vengeance.

Snowballstrike · 29/12/2005 11:23

Excellent news Trix and Pucca. Glad both scans went well. Has any one got a date for there 12 week scan yet? I'm waiting for the postman every morning hoping he'll brng something from the hospital, but nothing yet! It's so frustrating, roll on 2nd trimester I say!

blondie82 · 29/12/2005 11:23

even though ive had my dd. i just love to read about people who have just had there scans. i can remember my scan at 8 weeks and she looked like a tiny little bean on the monitor!! i wish u all the best trxi1 and pucca

pucca · 29/12/2005 11:35

Trix....really glad your scan went well

Snowballstrike...i recieved my materity notes and scan date (12 week) through the post last week, you should get it soon, mine is 1st Feb but going off what they said today i will only be 10 week, do you think i should change it? or will they be able to date pg ok at 10 weeks?

Arabica · 29/12/2005 15:07

Fantastic news trix and pucca!
Am a little less nauseous so far today but have sprouted a lovely big zit on my chin. I'm 44 not 14, fgs!
Still can't stop eating but am trying my hardest to make healthy choices. Just like with DS, have gone totally veggie (I usually eat fish once or twice a week but the very thought of it makes me retch). However, there are no animals harmed in the making of Quality Street. And in my case I think I have munched my way around a Quality City already!

pucca · 29/12/2005 15:10

Lol @ Arabica

All i seem to fancy eating and what i have lived on the last couple of days is laughing cow spread cheese on jacobs cream crackers

Arabica · 29/12/2005 15:28

Normally I love my laughing cows, but right now that kind of cheese is just too slimy!

pucca · 29/12/2005 15:58

It is the only thing i can stomach...weird isn't it? and true to form, i am much worse in the morning but does ease off slightly as the day goes on, i had forgotten how bleak the nausea was but good at the same time lol.

Arabica · 29/12/2005 16:52

Maybe we are sharing the sickness--because I am generally fine in the morning but just about now I tend to start feeling yuck. Especially if I have been on the computer a lot, like today (no not just mumsnetting, working!)

katylou25 · 29/12/2005 19:43

Gtreat news on your scans girls!

I've made my 1st appt with midwife today for next week, and ahve been absolutely shattered all day - just haven't got the energy to get up of the sofa. Remeber this from with DS but then i didn't have an 11 month old intent on creating havoc to deal with! also been feeling sick, would rather be sick than have the constant feeling of sickness that i seem to have now.

So glad the scans went well trix and pucca I'm impressed there's heartbeats... they didn't look for one at my scan. I'm having another wednesday so hopefully they will look then.

I've felt as ill as the last few days. Been so tired after 6pm that I can't move, and everything makes me nauseaous. Didn't have this with ds, only a meat aversion (I'm a bit funny with meat anyways) but the lactulose REALLY makes me feel sick and because I was taking it in orange juice I can't drink that either now. I'm slowly working my way through the juice groups, being put off each one!

Constipation is still bad, but starting bleeding tuesday night Cried my eyes out, doctors said to leave it till the scan as nothing they can do if it's a m/c. Feeling a bit better now as it's stopped, and didn't last long, but didn't stop me buying maternity clothes! Got a lovely pair of jeans, trackie bottoms and three tops in dotty p's, plus a top in mamas and papas (all in the sale ) so am trying to be positive. Dh fell in love with a quinny in mothercare (URGH).

pucca - ds will be 2.4 years when this baby comes around. we're starting to panic a little as ds hit the terrible twos as of tuesday... hoping it's just teething.

Nbg · 30/12/2005 09:09

Pleased to hear your scans went well Trix, Pucca and Lockets

I started to panic again about the sickness not coming as bad.
I started to tell my mum (who has worked in midwifery) and she said that maybe thats all I'm getting Please please please let that be true!

Luna, I too caved in and spent on maternity
I picked up a couple of bits in Next and my tracksuit top and botoms have come this morning.
Although I don't feel too daft as I really had to pour myself in to my jeans!

So how long is everyone having to wait now until your Midwife appts?

pucca · 30/12/2005 10:44

NBG...I too feel much better today, thank god! yesterday was the worse i felt up to now.I think it maybe that some days are worse than others, yesterday i had the scan at 8.50am so had to leave the house at 8am so didnt have anything to eat...big mistake!! today i ate as soon as got out of bed (though i didnt feel like it!) and i feel dandy!

i am sure you will be fine, just feel grateful for the break from the yukkiness

I think mw appointments are around 9/10 weeks, as not much point seeing them till then, i remember with my dd i saw the midwife on the 1stjuly and had my 12 week scan on the 12th july.

Please dont worry, i am sure everything is ok with your bean...keep your chin up xxx
