Evening all!
Hi Diege, I didn't have SPD either but I've read my fair share and echo what the girls have said - you need to keep your legs together girl!! There are lots of tips like when you get out of the car, make like you're a princess (which you are, natch
and hold your knees together and ankles together and turn in your seat before standing, rather than stepping out sideways.
There's so more info about it here www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/pelvicpain/ and www.babyworld.co.uk/information/pregnancy/pregnancyproblems/pregprobs_pelvicjointpain.asp
I think the second link is slightly easier / better / more helpful reading.
I've read about pushing supermarket trolleys (and therefore I guess, heavily laden pushchairs, if relevant) making it worse. I suffer from a bad back and before switching to home deliveries, when I got to the checkout I'd always ask for someone to push my trolley to my car for me to save my back. Going round the supermarket was OK because it was flat, but the slightest slope puts pressure on your lower back to keep the trolley going in the right direction - and at £33 per ostepath session to fix me, I decided to swallow my pride! They've always been happy to help.
Tink - missed your post about DD1, it must be a relief to have a diagnosis so you can put a plan in place now. DS has just finished a course of Rhythmic Movement Therapy, which can be used to treat Dyspraxia. A lot of his 'traits' were similar to those on the dyspraxic scale, but it just didn't quite sit right. When I reviewed this site www.rhythmicmovement.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=11&Itemid=18 and the symptoms that could result from a specific reflex not being integrated properly, it all just fell into place.
He's now toilet trained (finally) and his tantrums have stopped. He's more co-ordinated (he used to trip over his own feet when walking) and he's more articulate. His stamina is improving (although still can't walk very far he is much better than he was), he can cope with change (i used to have to phone nursery to let them know when I was a few minutes away so they could start to prepare him). He was physically aggressive towards his carers and all this has now stopped. He ticked most of the items on the Fear Paralysis Reflex list, and all these, without exception have now resolved.
Kay and GingerbreadGiraffe (GYo?) - it seems really strange to hear you talking about ttc again. Wish it was an option on my horizon - I shall have to experience all the highs and lows via you guys :-)
I just want to say to everyone that I'm really sorry, I feel like a real traitor to the wagon when I leant so hard on you all after my MC. I hope you don't mind me being back, and I hope you don't mind my (self-absorbed) mega rambles.
