Hello! I am here, just finding it really difficult to read and post as dds all at home and finding it hard work to do much more than skim read. Ds2 is doing well, pretty much following the gf routine, so getting a pretty decent night (feed at 11pm and then again once usually 3am ish). Still the disrupted nights do accumulate tiredness and I am feeling pretty knackered!
On the present front I daren't post what I've got them on here as the dds may read, but I agree it is so easy to overdo the presents. I have a feeling I have gone a bit overboard this year, though not quite as mad as some on here Wink. I really need to get cracking on ebay as my maternity pay reduces dramatically next month.
I will also wish everyone a wonderful Charistmas and New Year while I get the chance Smile xxx Everyone's coming to us on xmas day which I am dreading. Dh and my dad (ex-chef) are doing the cooking but our oven is on the blink to put it mildly (2.5 hrs to cook a banana cake? Hmm) so goodness knows what or when we'll be eating xmas day. Stress!!!!!!! It's only one day though..

Hello,

just coming on to wish you all a very very Merry Christmas!!!! Xmas GrinXmas Grin

I hope you all have fantastic days!

bumpsnowjustplump · 26/12/2011 19:28

Merry Christmas one and all... Hope you are all well. We are doing ok although I am feeling very upset and emotional about the last few weeks which is crazy as DD2 is doing really well now.

Anyway I am back on line now and will just wait until you are all able to take a break from your festivities to chat.

SESthebrave · 26/12/2011 19:43

Bumps - hello! Good to see you on here. Sorry you're feeling low though. I know you've been through it a bit with DD2 in the last few weeks from your FB posts but don't know any details. Is everything resolved now? I can imagine that these things are very draining emotionally and physically. Please go easy on yourself. How is DP doing?

OP posts:
bumpsnowjustplump · 26/12/2011 20:24

Hello Ses, how is the bump coming along? Well i hope.

The last month really has just been so stressful it is untrue. First there was the problems I had with DD2's birth. This had left her with wet lungs (dont know if i told you all the ins and outs of it all.) which wouldn't have been a problem except that she caught broncilitus. We were sent to hospital by ambulance when the hv was concerned about her breathing (I thought the problem was a blocked nose, she had been bad for a couple of days. What a great mummy I am!!!! NOT)......

When we arrived we were on a normal ward and dd was put on oxygen and given steroids to help her lungs. The following day mark came in after dropping dd1 off at school. He got a phone call while he was there from work, so left ds with me and went into work as dd2 seemed ok. However two hours later l looked at her and she had gone really white and her lips were blue. Her alarms were going off and the room filled with nurses. Her lungs had failed. She was still breathing but no air was getting into her lungs as she couldnt inflate them. Her oxygen levels had dropped to an alarming rate and she was wisked off to the high dependency unit.

I followed trying not to alarm ds. She was put on a machine that breathed for her and i was told that the next few hours were critical and that they had a intensive care team from st thomas's hospital in london on stand by because she may need to be taken to specialist until there. Thankfully she wasn't but she was very very poorly. She was on so many machines, her veins had collapsed at one point so drip was in her arms, it was just awful and she was only two weeks old...

She was in HDU for 8 days, I couldn't cuddle her or feed her. I couldn't see DD1 as she had a cold and wasn't aloud in. It was awful..... She seems fine now though apart from a bad eye that has a bug in it. The staff were amazing in hospital and really helped dp and I at the worst point they aloud both of us to sleep there which was against the rules but they knew how serious things were. She has a wheeze but specialist said that should go as her lungs grow and she has a shaddow on her left lung but they believe that this is fluid rather than any perminant damage. So all in all she is one strong little girl.

I thought I was coping well, but it seems not and the last week I have been a mess. I have even bought an alarm for the mosses basket that goes off if she stops breathing because I was waking her all the time checking she was still breathing.... I have turned into a nurotic mother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I will be fine in time and the most important thing is that she is better and fighting fit.

DP's company is doing really well and he now has a week off so really looking forward to the help as DD2 is feeding every hour or so just for about 5 mins. This is because she gets so tired and just zonkes out. hospital told us to expect this for a couple of weeks as she has not been feeding orally for so long that the effort of feeding will tire her out... What it didn't tell us is that it will give her massive Green sludgy poos... Wink

Blimey that was a bit of a me me post wasnt it.... hope I havent ruined your mood on such a festive day xxx

SESthebrave · 26/12/2011 20:59

Oh Bumps what a truly dreadful few weeks :(
Those 8 days must have been the longest of your life. I'm so pleased that DD2 is obviously such a fighter though and pulled through well.

It is often the case that when in the middle if a situation like that, you somehow just cope and then only afterwards you then feel the full effects. Please feel free to offload here and take advantage of being able to share the workload with DP whilst he is off. I hope the next few weeks become easier and DD2 becomes even stronger.

As for me, yes bump is growing well. Am 18 weeks now! We've had a lovely Christmas and DS has been in his element. Fortunately I'm not back at work til Thursday.

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying Christmas :)

bumpsnowjustplump · 26/12/2011 21:35

It was dreadful Ses but over now. Excuse my spelling in last post as well I was feeding dd2 playing moonsand with dd1 at the same time lol.

Our christmas was fantastic just the five of us.. much needed family time xx

AwayinaKayzr · 27/12/2011 07:39

Morning,

Bumps That sounds horrible, I have no idea how I would have coped with that. You must have been terrified. I am so so pleased that DD2 is getting better. I would also be a very nurotic mother too.

I hope you have all had a good christmas. Ours has been brilliant, the boys faces when they saw Father Christmas had come were just perfect.

We are braving the shops today. I need some maternity trousers and need to try them on really. Plus DP leaves for Singapore on the 10th Jan and isn't back until the middle of March so we want to have the baby stuff picked so we can order it when he gets home.

Hope everyone is well!

festivehellokitty · 28/12/2011 20:47

cantmummyhaveabreak · 29/12/2011 09:05

Bumps- I know exactly how you feel with the comment about thinking it was a blocked nose... when DD2 was poorly and rushed to hospital seriously ill i had brushed it off the day before just thinking she must have just been having a 'sleepy day'... she was so small and the effort of being awake must have been draining... then to find her on all sorts of machines fighting for her life i felt it was my fault for not knowing better the day before... i still do kinda blame myself now, almost 3 yrs on... but you do get over it :) You are in no way a bad mother, you're a busy mother who was aware of something being off by thinking it was a blocked nose, you hadn't ignored it completely, and luckily she was seen in time to make a healthy recovery. :) if you ever need to bounce your thoughts about, i'm here... and have been through a similar experience. :)

Xmas has been hectic here to say the least!! I took my tree down on boxing day night- had DH sawing it in half to stuff in the green bin in the dark... the recycling bin was being collected the next morning so it had to go, otherwise we'd have had it in the bin for 2 weeks! He wasn't my biggest fan for making him do that tho!! we've put the decs back in the attic, and put all the DC's empty playmobil boxes in there too, did all that on the 27th... again, DH not my biggest fan!! haha!! But we're almost back to normallity. We have DH's mum & step-dad arriving today, due around lunchtime, so i best get a shift on and hoover and wash some pots before they get here. I get in-law OCD, and scrub everything 3x before they arrive normally, but as they're coming the messy side of xmas I've had little energy to be so vigilant!! I was ill boxing day and the 27th too, so ill i went back to bed for 3hrs on the 27th! :( but luckily i'm over the worst of it now :)

Right i best crack on. Hope you've all had fantastic festive fun!! :)

Rugbylovingmum · 29/12/2011 10:43

Bumps - how awful and stressful Sad. I can't imagine how worried you must have been but definitely don't blame yourself, sometimes there's just no way to know how ill they are/will get. I hope you have all had a lovely relaxing and healthy christmas!

Cant - that's a quick clear up! We haven't even moved C's pressies through to the playroom yet. We have had guests every day and our last visitor leaves tomorrow so back to normal then.

Tink - glad hull was fun Smile

Christmas has been great and the in laws were much better behaved than I expected. C has had a fab time although she was more excited about our visitors than her presents Grin.

I have my 20 week scan just after the new year and I'm really looking forward to finding out which flavour bean we have this time. We have been talking about names and the only ones we can agree on just now are Eloise for a girl and Reuban for a boy - what do you think? We are just playing with ideas just now so I won't be offended if you hate them Wink.

AwayinaKayzr · 29/12/2011 15:42

Rugby, I love the names. I was trying to persuade DP to go for Reuben but got nowhere.

We've pretty much decided on Isaac Henry and Rosalie Jean now. We've got a scan booked on the 7th so hoping they will be able to tell us.

festivehellokitty · 29/12/2011 17:35

cant - wow very organised have fun today
i will be taking down tree and decs on new years day
have taken rest of pressys out of wrappings
kids have had fun playing with new toys today Grin
rugby - glad u have had a gd xmas
luv names - good luck with scanskladies

SESthebrave · 30/12/2011 21:20

Quick post to say hello and an early Happy New Year to you all!

Been so tired these last few weeks that I've been falling asleep most evenings soon after dinner. We've got an NCT dinner party tomorrow night for NYE so hoping I won't fall asleep in the middle!

I need to join the scan next week list too - our 20 week scan is on Friday 6th. At the moment, we're not planning to find out whether this one is a boy or a girl (although we're both convinced it's another boy!)

Oh and Rugby - both of those names are on my short list. Won't be using them though as another friend has a 9mo Eloise and DH isn't so keen on Reuben. Back to the drawing board for us!!

Kayzr · 02/01/2012 09:21

Happy New Year everyone!!

I was very boring and asleep by half 10, just couldn't stay awake.

We need to start thinking of a nice new thread name as this is getting full up Grin

2012hellokitty · 02/01/2012 13:14

hi kayz

u have a good reason for being so tired
we went to bed at 1pm dd1 didnt like the fireworks so ended up in our bed !! Hmm

dd2 starts nursery tomorrow !!!
getting big too quickly!!

Kayzr · 02/01/2012 18:54

If anyone is about can you have a look here please?

I am feeling a bit stressed out now Sad

SESthebrave · 02/01/2012 19:28

Kayz - I've had a look and posted. Hope you're feeling a bit calmer and reassured now. I think you need to keep yourself busy until Thursday!

We had a good new year with NCT friends - hope you all enjoyed whatever you did on 31st/1st.

DS seems to have dropped his nap during the last couple of weeks. He really doesn't seem sleepy in the day and even taking him for a drive doesn't send him off. This is fine but by the time it gets to about 5pm he gets very challenging with your typical 2yo tantrums at the smallest thing! He's back at nursery tomorrow so it will be interesting to see what happens then.

Rugbylovingmum · 04/01/2012 09:11

Hi all,

had our 20 week scan yesterday and everything looks good Grin. Beanie wasn't playing ball - she was in an awkward position and wouldn't move - so it was quite a struggle for the sonographer to see everything she needed to but she managed in the end. She was great and really talked us through everything we were looking at, it was amazing to see the heart beating and beanie was waving her arms around and sucking her thumb grin. It looks as though we are having another girl which is lovely but the position wasn't great so we can't be sure. It's quite nice - I can refer to beanie as 'she' and picture my little girl but know we could still have a surprise.

I had to see the consultant afterwards and we went through my notes from DD's birth. His opinion was that as everything was right the first time (baby a good size and in position, gave it plenty of time, I'm an average size etc) and I failed to go into labour then I'm unlikely to have a straightforward labour this time and he recommended a repeat c-section. I agreed and so I'm booked in for the 15th May shock. It's so weird having an actual date for the birth!

Kayz - will have a look at your other thread now

Ses - glad you had a good new year! DD occassionally goes without a nap but it's still quite rare ad she is a state by bedtime if she does. I hope she keeps it for a while yet - it's my chance to get things done (or have lunch and mn Blush).

Tink - hi , DD slept right through the fireworks here, I'm amazed as they were really loud and went on for ages

2012hellokitty · 04/01/2012 09:26

hi rugby

great news with scan Grin

wow and a date booked bet it is good to know what is happening

Kayzr · 04/01/2012 09:28

Awwww Rugby thats great!!

I am feeling a bit better today. I will be seeing the MW tomorrow so hopefully she will put my mind at ease.
