Is all your shopping done?

GingerbreadLatte · 13/12/2011 14:59

Hello

all you charting experts- can you pleases look at my CHART please?

Its my first attempt and we didnt TTC this month. Anyone think if ovulation did actually take place? I am not convinced as my shift isnt very consistent....

thanks!

Rugbylovingmum · 13/12/2011 15:44

Hi all,

Ginger - I have never charted so no help here sorry. I hope someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

Kayz - happy birthday DD2!

Hi Kitty.

1 hour and 18 minutes to go until I officially finish work and become a SAHM for the next year Grin. Unofficially I finished 20 min ago and I am now eating cake at my desk Wink.

AwayinaKayzr · 13/12/2011 16:12

Ginger, I think if you did ovulate it would have been cd 16 or 17. I'm not that good with other peoples charts I'm afraid.

Yay Rugby for last day Grin

DS2 is conked out on the sofa. He got a new rugby ball and a Wales shirt for his birthday and has spent all day playing rugby.

LebkuchenStars · 13/12/2011 18:55

A very quick one while the DC have their pre-bedtime snack...

Happy Birthday to your DS2 Kayz!
Yay for finishing work Rugby - welcome to the world of SAHMs Grin
Sorry Ginger, I know nothing about charts, hopefully someone chart-literate will come on soon to help.

festivehellokitty · 14/12/2011 09:50

ginger - i agree Grin

yah ugby Grin

hi stars

quiet day here today

Moosy · 14/12/2011 14:29

Ginger, I think your chart looks rather unreliable! Did you take your temps at the same time each day, as soon as you woke up? Ignoring all the white dots I'd guess that you might've O'd on day 19 so the spike is on day 20, but that would make the pre-af drop very soon after the post-ov spike so it doesn't make a lot of sense! The Ewcm would imply it was earlier than that, perhaps day 16 or 17 but then the low temp on day 19 is confusing.

GingerbreadLatte · 14/12/2011 17:54

Thanks for looking Moosy. I took the temps approx same time. But it's hard as some days I get up at 5.20 so need to do them all then which was a bit hit and miss Blush. I always do it before moving or sitting up.

Might try again next month.

How are you? Smile

Rugbylovingmum · 16/12/2011 15:05

Hi all,

I have spent the last 2 days christmas shopping and think that I have managed to get almost everything that I need Grin. I just need to get DPs (which I am going pick up next week) and something for my nana. I'm a bit stuck on my nana's, she's getting a dvd player for the first time this year and likes 'feel good' films. Mum is getting her The Green Mile, The Bucket List and The Blind Side so if anyone can suggest a similar type of film I'd be grateful Smile.

I've been looking at DDs present pile and wondering if we should keep some stuff back - what do you think. We have got her:

a balance bike, a small doll and some painting sponges (from Santa)
a vtech laptop, a jigsaw, snakes and ladders, shopping list game, cotton reels and animal snap cards (from us).

I've mostly got her games/activities we can do at home together when she drops down to one day a week at nursery so I'm happy for her to have those (they are partly for my benefit anyway Wink). She loves jigsaws and simple board games so they are great for afternoons at home while the weather is awful. That looks reasonable but she is also getting these my parents/DB/nana/aunties and uncles etc

a leapfrog tag junior and books
a buggy, highchair and bouncy chair for her dolls
playdough set
more jigsaws
teddy
books

Plus stocking fillers and whatever the in laws get for her Shock. I think it will all be too much - it took her all day to open the few pressies she got for her birthday as she just isn't that interested. I was thinking about putting her bike away until the weather is better (we only really bought it now as we got it cheap in the sale and had vouchers to use up) and keeping some of the games/jigsaws etc to open later in the holidays.

Does everyone feel ready for chrsitmas???

SESthebrave · 16/12/2011 20:35

Hello all :)

Rugby - I've been having a similar dilemma with DS for Christmas and all his presents. I've basically not been very good at resisting things that I see Blush
At the moment he has:
Engine shed for his Thomas train set
miniature Guitar
Bob the Builder Scoop and Muck
Fireman Sam dominoes
Fireman Sam jigsaw
Percy train for his train set
Plus a few small stocking bits

I'm thinking I might hold back the jigsaw...

As for being ready for Christmas, er no! I only wrote my first Christmas cards yesterday and still have loads to write and all the presents to wrap!

Ginger - Are you back at CD1? Is this month all systems go again? Wink It's really tough getting the timings right for temping when you have to get up so early some mornings. Normally as long as it's half an hour either side of the "standard" time, I didn't think FF put a white dot. I do think the answer is to try to get fewer white dots but not sure how easy that is?

Bumps - sounds from FB like you've had a rough couple of weeks. Hope all has settled down now and you can enjoy your first Christmas as a family of 5 :)

Kayz - hope DS2 had a good birthday!

Hello Moosy, tink, Diege, Star, Cant and anyone else lurking!

It'e been really quiet on here this week. I've been busy with work (well it is retail at Christmas!) and also feeling rubbish with a rotten cold. It got to the stage where not only was I waking up with dry chapped lips but my tongue was all dry and cracked too - ouch! I do seem to be developing an addiction to Vick though Grin

DH is out with the NCT boys tonight so I've decided to treat myself to pizza. Hopefully it will arrive any minute!

We are at home for Christmas with my parents and my brother, SIL and SIL's mum coming to us for the day. DH has gone OTT and ordered a 14lb turkey and a goose!
What's everyone else doing for Christmas?

GingerbreadLatte · 19/12/2011 14:10

Hello everyone

Sooo quiet here!!

Ses- thanks for your comments on the chart. I hadnt realised that the white dots were related to timings of temperatures. That makes sense, I really should read the FAQs

I am now on CD2 so back in the 'saddle' so will be temping at 5.30am for entire xmas holiday period Xmas Hmm

The good news is that it looks like my fertile window will coincide with a night away at hotel that DH and I have planned Grin

I have to say that it isnt as easy being relaxed about TTC as I'd hope I would be. However much I'd say I'd go with the flow, its hard not to be focused. The key I suppose is how much you share with the other half. They really dont need to know about temps and EWCM! Xmas Grin

What a lot of waffle about TTC!

I am wondering if we need a new thread for 2012.... ?

AwayinaKayzr · 19/12/2011 14:48

Hello.

I've come to have a bit of a moan. We've decided to put the wedding back. DP has been offered a new job which is over £1000 extra a month and we can't turn it down when we need a bigger house and bigger car. But he probably won't be at home for the wedding.

It's for the best and we need to do it but feel a bit down. Sad

Rugbylovingmum · 19/12/2011 15:14

Oh Kayz that is really tough, I know how excited you have been about the wedding Sad. It'll be fab to have a new house with more space though and hopefully the wedding won't have to be postponed for too long. A new family home will be exciting! When can you start looking for somewhere?

Rugbylovingmum · 19/12/2011 15:19

Ginger - sorry for ignoring you, somehow I missed your post Hmm. I found it really difficult to stay relaxed about ttcing too, I never knew a month could feel so long. I think you're right about sharing on the wagon rather than with DH - no need to scare the blokes Wink. You're night away sounds lovely and great timing Smile.

A new thread would be good - any ideas for a title?

GingerbreadLatte · 19/12/2011 19:19

Sorry to hear that Kayz. Job sounds like a good one so long term it sounds like a good idea but you must be disappointed. Did you talk about time scales?

Thank rubgy :) glad its not just me that finds it hard work. Thought I was being a bit up tight Xmas Blush

How is life at home? Have you removed DD from nursery completely?

.....Im thinking on thread titles....

GingerbreadLatte · 19/12/2011 19:21

who is rubgy? Grin

AwayinaKayzr · 19/12/2011 19:26

Ginger, by the end of next year. Both my mum and MIL to be suggested asking if there is a cancelation at registry office in next couple of weeks. Xmas Shock

They said then we could have a church blessing and all the reception stuff later next year.

cantmummyhaveabreak · 19/12/2011 20:24

registry office wedding isn't the end of the world Kayz- we just had a registry office wedding, and a meal at a local pub (an upmarket pub, but a pub all the same)... wouldn't change it for the world. Being Mrs A was more important than the fancy big wedding, and I've never regretted it yet!! In fact I'm proud that i got married on under £500!! :)

I have been massively busy with last xmas shopping- panic set in that i'd not got much for the kids... but reading your lists i now feel i have got them too much (in true CANT style)... I've got them:

DS- Massive playmobil set, smaller playmobil set, and a couple of mini playmobil sets.
A big Trampoline & enclosure for him and DD2
A star wars game
2 Jigsaws
Some underwear & socks etc.
PJ's.
A new outfit.
Colouring books & pencil crayons
Reading & puzzle books
Some small teddies

DD1-Massive playmobil set, smaller playmobil set, and a couple of mini playmobil sets.
A silver cross coachbuilt dolls pram and a pram set for inside it
Some disney princess canvases for her room
A puzzleball Jigsaw
A board game.
Some underwear & socks etc.
PJ's.
A new outfit.
Colouring books & pencil crayons
Reading & puzzle books
Some small teddies

DD2-Massive playmobil set, smaller playmobil set, and a couple of mini playmobil sets.
A big Trampoline & enclosure with DS
A tiny tears doll
A jellycat penguin teddy
A magnetic drawing board
A winnie the pooh playset
A nurses kit & dress-up.
Some underwear & socks etc.
PJ's.
A new outfit.
Colouring books & pencil crayons
Some small teddies

Then they each will have their stockings from Santa with chocolates, small toys, toothbrush, some toiletries etc

I'm thinking i'm going to keep back the winnie the pooh playset for DD2 for her bday... no clue what to get her for her bday so it'd be 1 toy towards it :)

I always go OTT- I get to December, think I've not got them much so buy more and end up with loads... And it's only when I come to wrap them that I realise how much I've bought!

Got to make 50 rudolph cupcakes tomorrow for DS's party on weds- my baby is going to be 7!! Been baking and cooking all sorts over the last few weeks- it's keeping me sane through the stress of everything going on around me i think- DH steps down to AM 1st Jan, so will be starting the new year with a new income... but i think we'll get through ok :) i'm keeping positive, but i am feeling the stress, which i dont often gets stressed. Doesn't help that i'm stressed about a party for 50 kids, then having everything done in time for xmas too!! It's always going to be a crazy week just before xmas- i best get used to it :)

AwayinaKayzr · 19/12/2011 20:27

Cant We were getting married in the registry office anyway. It was more shock at the trying to get a cancellation next week. Then have the blessing so we can still have a get together with everyone who was meant to be there.

GruffaloSoldier · 19/12/2011 23:42

Hi everyone,

Sorry I have been AWOL again. Been really busy with uni work, DS1 & 2 keeping me busy etc...

We are also buying a house now so been busy preparing for that. We are only in the early stages so may fall through but I am very excited.

We put up our Christmas tree up today so starting to feel a bit more christmassy. Obviously, with it being the first Christmas without my mum I have mixed feelings at the mo. One minute I'm excited then I'm sobbing, I am in full swing of grieving now and its bloody hard.

Anyway. Christmas presents. Well due to the fact that we are putting all our money into buying the house, and it needs loads of work, so we are holding back this year. Ds2 has a couple of things to open and a small stocking. But he is 8 months so not going to care too much! He just likes to cause havoc so will be happy if he's doing just that, he pulls himself up and cruises around now, he is such a handful! Ds1 has about 6 or 7 things to open from us and a stocking. haven't gone mad spending but DH still said I'd bought too much! Haha!

Giraffe - hope the charting goes better this month! Good luck :) we should sort that meet tup for a coffee out too, have been meaning to message you on FB.

Ses - Hope you're better soon and work isn't too manic this week! Xmas presents for ds sound good. I can tell that he and GC would get on very well by the content!:)

Kayz- that is a real shame about the wedding but absolutely has to be done. Could you move it forward to just a bit sooner rather than really soon, iyswim?

Can't - that does sound like a lot for Christmas! We have so many family round the tree at Xmas, (13 of us and 2 dogs) there wouldn't be room for anyone else's presents if dcs got that much :)

Rugby - that is a lot of presents so yeah keep some presents back if you want. We usually spread GCs present opening throughout the day and sometimes the next day if it gets too much, as with with family presents aswell he does get a lot. Hope you're enjoying your maternity leave now :)

Tink - sounds like your girls will have a lot with birthday added too!Hope your 'xmas' on Sunday was good :)

Bumps - hope your dd2 is doing ok now.

Hello to Diege and moosy if you're lurking!

GruffaloSoldier · 19/12/2011 23:46

And star hope you're ok if youre lurking and anyone else I missed!

cantmummyhaveabreak · 21/12/2011 19:44

Gruff- it is a lot, i guess i just do it because when i was a kid we used to always have MASSIVE piles of presents off my parents, plus presents off other family, so it seems 'normal' to buy so much... But every year i say i bought too much and dont seem to learn for the next year! But my mum always gets the kids a huge pile of stuff each, then they get presents off DH's 2 sets of parents, presents off a few of our friends, and also from all our 'surrogate' friends family... then from both my sisters too... they get an enormous amount... but i guess we've got to the point now where if we're buying something it's either for their birthday or xmas... we dont often just buy something for no reason...

DS turned 7 today- had a big party for him which was fab, he really enjoyed it :) saw family and friends which was nice, it always feels very 'christmassy' on his bday, always really nice :) hopefully they'll all sleep well tonight- DD2 is in bed already, was sound asleep within 5mins... the other 2 are still up playing DS's new games, i'm gonna leave them to it while they're playing so nicely together :) and hopefully they slightly later bedtime on top of running round mad for a good few hrs will get me a lie in past 7am!! :)

I thought i'd come on now and wish you all a lovely xmas, and a happy new year Xmas Smile as i may not get on between now and then with having kids off and busy days ahead :) Best wishes to you all.xxx
