hello everyone,

peapop if you're still here im so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you.

fools sorry to hear about your car troubles, hope its all better soon!

carlita glad you're feeling a bit better
sorry if i missed anything important, have had lots to catch up!
i've been absent a few days due to feeling crap! been to dr and they think i might have a kidney infection :( as they're not sure they said it was up to me if i took antibiotics or not! agh! any thoughts?? off to snooze on the sofa before im due out, should prob try and eat something, i dont think a tube of smarties counts as a balanced diet, does it.......

Carlitawantsababy · 14/10/2011 16:58

That's not very helpful Ellie! Poor you! Will they test again? Can you decide when/if symptoms persist/worsen? Have they told you the risks of not taking the antibiotics?

hey ladies, just a flying visit while I'm at Frankfurt book fair - 50 scheduled appointments down, 10 to go Grin (plus a whole bunch of unscheduled super speedy appointments with random people who don't know the system or think they're too important to book).

I'd had a couple of really quiet weeks on the heartburn front but am being totally nailed this week - not sure if it's stress, lack of sleep, or the food I'm eating out here, but gosh it's unpleasant!

so tired now though... actually can't think straight, which is not what you want when you're pitching academic books to clevel academic publishing types....

Carlitawantsababy · 14/10/2011 20:08

Sounds exhausting ghost! hope you get a good rest tonight!

Kayzr · 15/10/2011 12:05

Is anyone else really hot? I'm so hot and everyone else is in coats and gloves etc and I'm in a vest top.

Carlitawantsababy · 15/10/2011 13:23

Haha yes kayzr people at work complain of being cold and I definitely have not noticed it is even the slightest bit chilly.

OP posts:
elliebug · 15/10/2011 20:10

Well I am hot too but I have a slight temp so that's prob why!! I managed to talk to a friend who is a mw and she said to try and flush the infection out but if no better by mon to take the antibiotics cos they're safe to take, now why couldn't the practice nurse have said that!! I stayed in bed till 4 today which had made me feel much better!! Work tomorrow though Sad

Kayzr · 15/10/2011 20:41

Hello

I've had the day from hell almost. It started fine, then DP got told he was going back to work Monday morning. He works away on a ship for 5 weeks. We knew it was coming but it's always horrible. We decided to go shopping. I started to feel really sick, kept get hot and dizzy. I thought it was maybe because the shops were really warm. So we came home and I was throwing up and had diarrhoea(sorry tmi). I rang dr who said it was a bug and have to rest and keep my fluids up.

We cancelled going out. I told DP he could go out if he wanted but he stayed at home. Cue loads of abuse from his so called best friend and best man for our wedding Sad.

On a high note we had our first trip to mothercare. I got some sleep bras so I'm hoping I wont wake up feeling like Mike Tyson has used my boobs as a punch bag.

Hope you're all ok.

Carlitawantsababy · 16/10/2011 09:00

Ellie glad you are feeling a bit better*
oh kayzr so you had an extra reason for feeling hot then? I'm assuming best friend/man does not know you're pg? Just jealousy I guess, he's going to miss his friend, silly behaviour though, you're his wife!
For the Londoners (and those that visit London) Groupon are doing a 4D ultrasound deal today for £90. I'm going to get one as have been waiting for a deal to come up, I think they look amazing and would love to take my mum who is fascinated by them and never had an ultrasound herself. Plus I don't want to have to go 20 weeks between the last scan and birth without seeing the little 'un! Grin If you're going to buy one and you're not a Groupon member already please let me (or someone you know who uses Groupon) recommend you as I/they earn £6 credit at no cost to you! Grin

Carlita he didn't know last night. I've put it on Facebook this morning as we're too excited to keep it to ourselves. He always does this if DP decides he doesn't want to go out. I've never stopped him going out and never will but his friends don't believe that. I'd much rather have been out for a curry like we planned than sat at home feeling ill.

Carlitawantsababy · 16/10/2011 12:14

kayzr how nice you've announced your news, is everyone very excited?! I hate that when people think you have stopped DH from going out. No amount of persuasion seems to convince those people that you haven't either. Grrr!

OP posts:
Kayzr · 16/10/2011 12:28

Yeah everyone seems pretty happy for us. At least I don't have to keep pretending I'm ok when really I feel like there is a washing machine in my stomach [hgrin]

BunMyOven · 17/10/2011 14:21

Hi everyone! Hope you've all had a lovely weekend, I had a nice quiet one. DP took DS swimming again yesterday and they came back very excited because DS has very nearly perfected the doggy paddle on his own Grin so lots of fuss and stickers for him yesterday!

Carlita that's good that the acupuncture is helping, it has never been suggested to me as an option.
Been to physio today and it was great. She looked at how my hips and pelvis are positioned when doing different things, then I laid on the bed and she moved my hips into different positions to see whether it was my hips or pelvis that were the problem (apparently people quite often describe pelvis pain when the problem is actually in the hips). Then she had me bend in lots of different ways to check out my flexibility, then she exclaimed "gosh you are flexible aren't you!", to which I replied "am I?!" Confused I thought I was 'normal' but it turns out my hips, knees (which explains my many years of knee pain) and waist are pretty hyper-mobile so everything is much too loose now I'm pregnant. ( I wish I'd thought about the fact that I'd have to take my jeans off, felt like a right lemon standing there in my Batman knickers!! Blush)
She gave me a massive tubigrip to wear which is helping already - the extra support is heaven! And has booked me in for another appointment next Thursday to show me some strengthening exercises to do on my birthing ball at home. Oh and also, because the problem is with the front and back of my pelvis she's told me to clench 'everything down there' - pelvic floor muscles, buttocks and to pull belly button in and down towards baby - when I'm doing anything that causes pain (sitting, rolling over in bed etc) to try and keep everything in place and I have to say it's working quite well to reduce the crunching and locking that's been happening. So I'm very happy today, it's such a relief to know that it's going to be more bearable from now on Smile

Bloody hell Fools, that sounds like such a nightmare! Hope you've had a more relaxing time of it since your day of stress Smile

Ghost I'm exhausted just reading that! Is it all over yet? Please tell me you put your feet up since your last post! Shock
My heartburn's kicked up a notch too now unfortunately. Rennie's stocks and shares must have gone up a few points lately!

Kayzr sorry to hear your DP's away for so long Sad How are you feeling today. How horrible of his friend giving him a hard time! God forbid he might have a mind of his own and just want to be there for his wife to be! Angry
Lovely that you've announced your pregnancy though, such a relief to be able to talk openly without being careful not to let things slip Smile

Am on a major Christmas crafts bender at the moment, been making some Finnish paper stars that I'm going to find some lovely ribbon to turn into a garland, some trees of felt and buttons and now I'm going to go and sit with DS to make some Christmas cards (he's going to decorate some black card with star stickers and glitter pens and I'm going to attempt to make pop-up Christmas trees inside Grin

Kayzr · 17/10/2011 14:49

Bun glad the physio is helping.

I feel bloody awful!!! I've asked my brother to get DS1 from school as I have no energy to walk to school or risk throwing up on the way there. I've been sick for the first time that seems to be morning sickness related. Sad

DP just rang to say someone he works with has offered to work Xmas instead of DP as he's single with no children. It cheered me up at bit so they're going to try and work it out. Smile

BunMyOven · 17/10/2011 15:24

Urgh that's crap! Hope you're feeling better soon, it's so hard to keep up with the children you already have when all you want to do is hibernate. Sad

How lovely of your DP's workmate! Such a kind and thoughtful thing to do Smile

We're probably going to have to take a trip up to the hospital when DP gets home from work - DS has got something stuck up his nose!! I tried having a go with a torch and some blunt old tweezers but wasn't confident enough I'd get it out without risking pushing whatever it is in further. and DS was getting upset and scared so I've managed to get him off to sleep on my lap whilst we wait for DP, thankfully he's finished early today. Yikes! What a milestone toddler event! Grin Hmm

Kayzr · 17/10/2011 15:31

Gosh that's scary Bun I hope it comes out easily when you go to hospital. The boys havent done that yet but have both choked on things. DS1 choked on a sweet and luckily we were walking past the doctors at the time so I rushed him in there. DS2 choked on a pickled onion. DP got it out after about a minute of us trying and when I was just on the phone to 999.

foolserrand · 17/10/2011 16:41

Bloody hell Bun! Please let us know when its safely out and what it is that's stuck up there. Well done for getting him off to sleep, can't have been easy if he was scared.

Kayzr Hurrah for announcing! Dh did that too. Managed to tell a few important people first thankfully. Sorry his friend was a prat, but good on your dp for looking after you. Even better news about him getting Christmas off. I have the nausea too so I commiserate. Makes it so hard.

Ghost.... wow. That is one crazy workload! Hope it was enjoyable as well as exhausting.

Happy to hear you're in less pain, Bun. Huge well done to your ds for mastering the doggy paddle too! [hgrin]

Hope you feel better now elliebug. Kidney infections are awful.

Carlita what does acupuncture feel like? Very glad its helping you.

Trope, writing? That's fantastic! You are very lucky with your current situation though. How was the comedy festival? Anyone you'd recommend?

Sorry to hear you've had a scare with your blood tests, all sorted now? Great that baby was moving lots.

Phew! Hope that's everyone. Scrolling up and down isn't so easy on my phone! Feeling a bit poorly today so we are having a lazy one of dvds and lego. Ds made a red barn which is very impressive and a far cry from the normal towers and cranes he normally builds. Had my first midwife appointment on Thursday. She was great! Sadly, I doubt I will be seeing her again as she is part of the hospital team. Scan in 10 days.

The key... yes. That was an expensive mistake! [hgrin] All sorted now though.... nearly.

Ok, am off to remove the biscuits from ds as he appears to have stolen them whilst I have been typing and possibly hide and bin this dvd before it makes my eyes bleed.

BunMyOven · 17/10/2011 16:45

Crisis averted! Haha what an afternoon! DP came back and DS woke up, we tried blowing into his mouth whilst closing his (empty) nostril to no avail so decided he'd have to go to hospital. DS was really upset and scared so I bigged up the 'nice doctor' who would 'fix' his nose and that he'd get to go for another drive in dad's van and he was excited about going. I stayed at home because there was lots to do here. 10minutes later, they come back - DS had given a big blow in the van and it came out! 'It' was a little ball of tissue which had started to break down what with all the snot (nice), thankfully.
DS was then very put out because he didn't get to go to see the 'nice doctor' - I did too good a job bigging it up I think! Grin

God Kayzr, how scary! Thankfully, touch wood etc I've not had to call 999 for DS, must have been awful. He did find a bit of the thin outer wrapping(?) of a bulb of garlic on the kitchen floor when he was younger and choked on that. I had to scoop it out from the back of his throat as it had stuck there because of how thin it was. Not an experience I want to repeat. Choking if bloody terrifying [shudder]
My sister was very impressive when we were young (I was about 7, she was 12ish), I choked on a Worther's Original because I got the giggles, my dad was in the garden so DSis had to do the heimlich maneuver on me! What a sight we were! Grin

PiggyMad · 17/10/2011 17:50

Got my Down's Syndrome results through finally and I am fantastically low risk at 1:25,814!!!
Obviously it isn't a diagnostic test so I could be that '1', but I am feeling much more comfortable with the risk.
I am so relieved after the fortnight of worry and lack of sleep.

Glad your ds doesn't have to go to a&e bun! I once put a small shell up my nose (when I was a child) and I think my parents just sort of left it until it came out later that evening!

Carlitawantsababy · 17/10/2011 18:53

Yay piggy, good stuff! Smile
bun Grin PMSL at the thought of you in your batman knickers! I am though rather jealous of your batman knickers, where are they from? Grin thanks for the info re physio, sounds good! Did they do any manual manipulation? Apparently thy's what really helps. I found clenching pelvic floor whilst getting up really helps so will add in the buttock clenching too! Grin so, interesting that it turns out you do have hypermobility! Grin i discovered mine when I got sent to physio for terribly debilitating knee pain, if you still have that get a referral after you have the baby for physio and orthotics, my orthotics completely stop any knee pain, magic! Grin not all NHS areas have acupuncture but it is worth asking, it'd complement the physio well. fools it feels like someone flicking your skin as the needles go in then you can't feel them. When the ones go in the problem areas they feel a bit icky like a needle for an injection for maybe a minute then you can't feel them. It's then incredibly relaxing, totally pain free wonderful relaxation (ooh, I'm looking forward to my session tomorrow)! My sister has it regularly (privately) and found it wonderful for her sickness and nausea in early pregnancy and now finds it great for relaxation. She was telling me they can also do acupuncture 'induction' as can pick points which stimulate your uterus so that's my plan of I go late to try to still have my home birth (not allowed if you have to be hospital induced. It's all very interesting, sounds a bit mental but then if you actually think in depth about modern western medicine that's a bit mental too!
kayzr sorry, made a mistake saying you were his wife, wife to be!Blush
I haven't felt the baby move much recently so looking forward to hearing the heartbeat tomorrow even more though am in the bath writing this and he's just had his biggest ever squirm which is rather nice! Grin

Hi ladies - just popping in to say hi. I've been away for the weekend so got some serious catching up to do now! Will be back once I've caught up properly [hsmile] - ok I know I'm a geek, but I do like the Hallowe'en smileys!

Carlitawantsababy · 17/10/2011 20:14

Me too davina how are you doing it?

OP posts:
Davinaaddict · 17/10/2011 21:05

Ok, here goes!

Bun - yay for the new sofa! We got one last year after we moved into this house. It was the first time I'd ever bought a new sofa so it was quite an occasion [hsmile] Sorry you're still suffering with the PGP - hope you manage to get some really good physio to help ease it off. Fantastic doggy paddle news! And so glad to hear that the physio brought lots of relief [hsmile] I have to admit I did laugh out loud when I read the bit about the batman knickers [hgrin] Not the C word yet! Not until after Thursday anyhow.... Ooh sounds like you had a scary time with your DS - glad the crisis was averted.

trope - I think it must have been really cold in Jan/Feb that year [hwink] We're going out for a family & friends meal on Saturday if I can get my arse in gear to organise it! How about you? The writing sounds exciting, but agree it would be very scary to try to change careers about now, even more so with a LO on the way... Hope you had a great night at Ed Byrnes gig! Maybe you should invest in a she-wee [hgrin]

Kazyr - sorry about the morning sickness, but sounds like its not constant, so here's hoping for more easy days than hard ones. I think you're very brave having such a mad house [hsmile] The war weekend sounds like my idea of hell. I'm not into any of that (although I do love a good fancy dress party [hgrin]) I've not been as warm this time round as I was with DS, and am actually thinking of getting more vests for winter this time round. I thinks its because I'm so tired this time round, which always makes me feel the cold so much worse. It's much worse being hot though, as there are only so many clothes you can take off in public [hgrin] Hopefully the cold weather will kick in this week and help you feel cooler. Sorry about your terrible Saturday - men can be twatsso insensitive and selfish at times [hsad] Sorry about your OH being away as well - it's horrible when you're preggers (Mine was away in Canada for 4 weeks, last time, so I'm keeping tight hold this time round) Yay for the announcement though! And nice that karma seems to have worked out nicely for Xmas too (one man being a twat, and another being lovely)

Oh fools sounds like a complete nightmare [hsad] Hope you have had better luck over the weekend.

Carlita - glad the acupuncture has helped. No screaming is definitely a good thing [hgrin] I'm on my laptop and the instructions are on the laptop version but it's really easy - just add in a h before your text so use (hsmile) instead of (smile) IYSWIM - brilliant!

ellie - sorry about the infection. Personally, I'd go with the antibiotics, as I think it's better to have a healthy mummy, and they will be very careful which ones they put you on. And yes a tube of smarties absolutely counts as a balanced diet! There are greens and everything [hsmile]

Waves at ghost - hope you're having a good time in Frankfurt and rest as much as possible - go away, heartburn!

Piggy that's fantastic news on your results. So pleased for you [hsmile]

So I've had a fabulous weekend away in the Lakes with some friends for a surprise 30th and it was brilliant, although we spent a bit too much and ate mostly takeaways [hconfused]. So am now feeling really fat (rather than pregnant), so I'm going to pop onto Slimming World for a bit. That way I can still eat plenty but will hopefully just loose some of the excess poundage gained in the last couple of weeks [hblush] But my lovely pregnancy buddy has decided it would be very generous of her to share her horrid cold with me so feeling like crap this evening (and very sorry for myself). But on the plus side I don't have to go to work this week [hsmile]

And on that note, after the huge essay, I'm off to bed zzzzzz. Hope you are all feeling great today.

BunMyOven · 17/10/2011 22:44

Piggy that's great news! (about both the results and that the shell came out Grin)

Carlita they were a present from my friend in Australia so not much help there I'm afraid.
No, it was a 'new patient appointment' so was mostly about checking out exactly where the problem is - hopefully will get more hands on next week, will keep you posted Smile I did laugh when she said about the hyper-mobility after what I said here before Grin I really thought it was normal to be able to put put the palms of your hands on the floor with straight legs and for your knees to bend the wrong way a bit Blush Sounds so stupid now that I've actually thought about it!
Acupuncture sounds great, I'll have a look into it! and thanks for the tip about the knee pain Smile
Lovely that you got a big wriggle right on cue, good baby Smile I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow too, not particularly looking forward to it though, midwife isn't really my cup of tea. Can't wait to hear the heartbeat again though!

The weekend sounds lovely! Don't worry too much about the food intake, you're pregnant, it's aloud, nay, expected! Grin All birthday treats should be enjoyed guilt free.
"Booo!" for the cold and "yaaaay!" for no work! Hope you have a good nights sleep and feel better tomorrow! Smile

Kayzr · 18/10/2011 06:29

Morning.

I'm ill again. I ended up ringing out of hours doctor last night who told me I've got gastroenteritis Sad I've got awful stomach cramps which are really painful. I think I'm going to go and see my proper doctor this morning so I can see what he says.
