kayzr that sounds really nasty, hope you start to feel better soon

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 08:18

kayzr poor you Sad sounds awful!
bun [hgrin] it doesn't sound that silly, I thought I was quite bendy but nothing extreme which the physio thought was hilarious when she tested me as I can turn my feet in so that the face out behind me and turn my arms so my elbows face up and yeah, knees bend a little bit the other way [hsmile] not looking forward to seeing my useless midwife from hell either especially after that text I sent her but really really looking forward to hearing the baby's heartbeat! Going to record it on my phone for DH.
davina glad you had a good weekend away, I love the lakes! What are you thinking going on a diet when you 're pregnant though you mad woman?!? You're supposed to get fat! [hgrin]

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 14:44

Well, midwife was a bit of a cow as expected but who cares, got to hear my baby's beautiful heartbeat and have sent the recording to DH who thinks it's great as it 'sounds like techno' Grin and to my mum (no word from her yet, she's at work) and have just had another sneaky listen myself Grin am at the hospital now for my acupuncture session - ah! Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 14:51

Oh, and do you guys carry your notes with you at all times? She told me off for that and I wondered if anyone really did? It's a rather large book?

OP posts:
Kayzr · 18/10/2011 16:08

Carlita with the boys I only had my pregnancy notes with me when I had MW appointments. Didn't carry them about. What did you text the midwife??

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 16:17

That's what I thought most people would do but she says you must take them everywhere. I put a copy of the text in this thread 2 weeks ago, basically told her in as polite a way as I could that the info she had given me wad incorrect and suggested she read the pelvicpartnership website for info on PGP. As expected, it was pointless as today she told me that all pregnant women have back and pelvic pain just like mine.

OP posts:
Kayzr · 18/10/2011 16:23

Ah right. If it's any help I had no pelvic or back pain with DS1 except back ache in labour. Is it similar to SPD? I had a bit of that with DS2 and it was horrid.

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow. God the 21st June sounds like a lifetime away.

The boys are having a little snack of chocolate cake. I want to be better or all the cake will be gone!!

Davinaaddict · 18/10/2011 17:01

Thanks Bun - I keep getting up too early, so the good nights sleep was not so good unfortunately [hsad]. How did your midwife app go today?

Sorry your feeling so bad Kayzr - hope the doctor manages to get you sorted out soon.

Carlita I'm only supposed to get a bump, not fat [hgrin]. Its when I wear short sleeved tops and have huuuuge arms that it does my head in! Shame your MW was a bit of a cow, but lovely to hear the baby again. Some people just cannot believe that they are wrong [hsad]. I had no pelvic or back pain when having DS1 either, so she's talking crap (as we already know!) I do tend to throw my notes in the car when we're travelling about, and they live in my work laptop bag during the week, just because I worry that something will happen when I'm miles from home, and nobody will have any of my information if I have to take a trip to hospital. Oh and as Kazyr said, they go with me to all my medical appointments too.

We're having a lazy day today cos we're both feeling a bit crap - in fact it was chicken soup for lunch, which was one of those things I always had when we were off sick as a child so that was very nice and comforting! Going to try and get some more stuff done this afternoon/evening but not betting on it....

BunMyOven · 18/10/2011 17:32

Didn't make it to MW appointment - DP was supposed to come and pick me up to take me but lost track of time in work whilst chasing out some walls (he's an electrician) and couldn't hear his phone alarm or my calls Angry Appointment was at 3.40 and didn't hear off DP until 4.30. I felt really bad calling when I was supposed to be there to tell them I couldn't make it.
It's annoying that I can't be properly angry with DP because it's just 'one of those things' - was still plenty moody though (am feeling really hormonal today as it is) and he's buying fish and chips on his way home from work to make up for it Grin

My maternity notes stay at home unless we're going out of Brighton. But get taken to all appointments. I got a telling off in my first scan for forgetting them (we had moved house a matter of days before and were very stressed) and the evil sonographer tried to send me home and make me rearrange my appointment. The receptionist had already told me that it'd be fine because they had all my information on the computer system. I made it perfectly clear that I wasn't leaving that room until she told me my baby was ok (I was ridiculously nervous! Grin) Angry Mean woman made me feel awful.

Lovely you got to hear the heartbeat Carlita, great idea taking a recording too! Smile Your midwife sounds a right nightmare! I can't tolerate people that won't admit they're wrong when they plainly are (DP refuses to admit 'scone' rhymes with 'gone' NOT 'cone'! Wink though not entirely the same thing...) you'd think she'd want to keep well informed on this type of thing in order to be good at her job! Baffling.

Oh Kayzr sorry to hear you're so ill! Sad Did you manage to see your doctor today?

Davina, we used to have chicken soup when we were ill growing up too Smile and hot Ribena mmmm

Kayzr · 18/10/2011 17:34

Yeah I went to see my doctor. I have campylobacter, which is a type of food poisioning. I've got tablets to try and make the stomach cramps less painful and was told that the baby will be fine despite me not being able to eat much.

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 20:12

Oh kayzr a nasty kind, my dog had that as a puppy and she was very poorly, poor you, at least they know what it is though and are treating you. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks all for the support, silly midwife! And yes, PGP used to be called SPD, they changed the name as it affects the back of the pelvis too, not just the front. Smile

OP posts:
Davinaaddict · 19/10/2011 11:51

Oh Bun - bad luck on the MW front yesterday. I'm afraid my DH would have got both barrels from me in that situation, the way my hormones are at the moment [hblush] I bet the fish & chips were fabulous though. Mental note to self to remember to take notes to my scan today! That sonographer sounds a nightmare - good for you for standing your ground though [hgrin]

Glad you've managed to get diagnosed and some tablets Kayzr

I'm back to my completely irrational thoughts about my scan again, so a small part of me just wants to get it over with so I can find out that everything is fine and stop being a crazy woman worrying [hconfused]. Will be back to update you later on!

ghosteditor · 19/10/2011 12:43

hey ladies! Just about survived the book fair but had a nightmare journey home and then yoga on Monday and pilates and a book event on Tuesday - am planning just to crash out tonight. Sadly there is still quite a lot of stuff going on that is stressful so I don't feel I can relax properly yet. Still, only another 10 days before DH comes home for a couple of weeks, and SIL is moving out this weekend I think.

Sorry to hear about the campylobacter kayzr, that's not what you need! And carlita and bun sorry to hear about the MW craziness (various). I do take my notes with me if I'm going overseas or away for the weekend but certainly not to work or on short trips - I'd lose them! Though having had a hospital visit on short notice due to a bleed last week it was indeed very helpful to have my notes with me. Just make sure they go to anything medical and I'm sure it'll be fine.

(oh and bun you know it's pronounced to rhyme with 'phone' not 'gone', your DH is right :P )

I'm actually just into the third trimester now - how exciting is that! I have my 28 week MW appt on Friday - I had the Strep B swab while in hospital so should get my results then too (not tested as standard in the UK apparently).

Still drowning in book fair follow up and I keep getting pesky unimportant emails which would test my patience at the best of times. Do you reckon I could pull off setting up an auto-reply to emails that said something like "If you are writing with regard to Frankfurt Book Fair, I will respond as quickly as possible. If your query is about some niggly little thing that you've left until the last possible minute and are now troubling me to fix for you, then, well, fuck off, and when you get there, fuck off some more"....

Grin whaddya reckon - could I blame it on the pregnancy hormones? Grin

PiggyMad · 19/10/2011 13:42

Hi ladies,
Thanks for the thoughts. Have just started telling people that I'm pregnant now - feel like that I've left it so long that I don't actually want to let the secret out!! Getting quite 'chubby' now though so thought I'd better get it out before people guess. 16 weeks on Monday - yay!

kazyr how are you feeling? Sounds really nasty - any ideas where you got it?

There seem to be so many bugs going round at the minute - how are you feeling davina? Did the chicken soup help?

carlita How many weeks are you now? I never carry midwife notes around - I thought it was still a bit early and seeing as people didn't really know then I thought it might be embarrassing if anyone spotted them!

bun have you managed to get another appointment with the midwife?

Carlitawantsababy · 19/10/2011 15:22

ghost congratulations on going in to the third trimester, very exciting! Love your out of office!
piggy I'm 17+5, seems so crazy to me to think you've only just told people, it is so obvious I'm pregnant and has been for ages, my body clearly loves being fat and is flaunting it. I look like some people do at 6 months but hey, I guess we're all different!?! Grin

Davinaaddict · 19/10/2011 18:33

Hi ladies just updating on my scan - all went very well, baby is perfect although spent most of the scan trying to wriggle out of the way of the scanner [hgrin] The only thing that might be an issue, is that my placenta is quite low at the moment, so I get another scan at 32 weeks - yay! However, depending on whether or not it moves up, may impact on whether I can try for a VBAC or not. Luckily, my consultant appointment is tomorrow, so at least I can talk through all my options then.

You sound like you're a very busy bee ghost ! Wow our first 3rd trimester [hsmile] It's so exciting that it will be January so quickly and we'll be having labours on the thread as well! I heard that Strep B isn't standard in the UK (on another thread in Pregnancy I think), and I vaguely remember it's because its not a conclusive test , so just because you're negative at one point in pregnancy, does not mean you wont get it later on....will have to go look it up now! I love the out of office - you can absolutely blame it on prgenancy hormones - I use them as an excuse for all sorts these days [hgrin]

Piggy - yay for 16 weeks! Not long now until your next scan [hsmile] The chicken soup did help thanks, although typical cold, always feels much worse in the morning and evening so waiting for it to hit me again this evening [hsad]. And I've got my flu jab on Saturday, so I'm doomed really!

I popped into Dorothy Perkins today to see if they had any nice jeans for Saturday night, and tried on a couple of gorgeous skinny jeans that were so comfy that I could have worn them for days! Until I looked in the mirror and realised that they actually made me look like Nora Batty [hangry] I was so annoyed, cos I've been looking for some comfy smart jeans for a while now!!! Back online I go.....

ghosteditor · 19/10/2011 18:52

Hey Davina sounds like a fun scan! We were just talking about low placentas at my ante natal yoga class on Monday; apparently the problem is resolved in 97% of cases by the time of birth, so good luck. Interestingly the placenta doesn't move per se, but the uterus actually starts to expand downwards which makes the placenta effectively further from the cervix. Interesting stuff!

ghosteditor · 19/10/2011 18:54

Ooh piggy you'll be getting some proper licks within the next few weeks if you're lucky! I had a few flutterings at about 17 weeks I think but it was a while before I had proper kicks. I get proper kicks and flails these days though Grin

ghosteditor · 19/10/2011 18:55

Grin I meant kicks not licks Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 19/10/2011 19:51

[hgrin] great stuff davina! So glad your scan went well. Did you get a good picture? Was the baby a lot different from the last scan? How exciting! [hgrin]

OP posts:
Davinaaddict · 19/10/2011 23:18

Happy birthday trope Hope you're having a fabulous day!

Thanks for the info ghost I have to admit I am slightly alarmed at the uterus moving down though, as its really low already so I might end up with it down by my knees at about 38 weeks! [hgrin]

The baby was much bigger of course, and we could see much more definition this time Carlita. The baby's movements were also more deliberate this time, and quite as reflex-like IYSWIM. I got a lovely photo which I'll post on my profile next time I'm on my lapdog Smile. DH posted it on fbook tonight which is the first time the pregnancy has been announced on there so it's been lovely getting all the congrats from the people I've not seen to tell (or should that be show, with my bumpWink)

Davinaaddict · 19/10/2011 23:35

Ok like some stupid idiot I decided that it would be a good idea to look up the low lying placenta issue so I can be prepared for my app tomorrow (I promise I didn't google, just baby centre) and now I'm really panicking!! Sad I don't normally stress out at their articles but my scan is booked for 32 weeks, which seems to mean the placenta is completely covering my cervix. Also it's likely that I'll have bleeding & will have to spend quite a bit of time in hospital (4 days was too much last time). I might even end up with a hysterectomy, if there are complications at labour, which is terrifying. I know we only wanted 2 children but to have that choice taken away from me is awful Sad Sorry for the rant - I don't want to worry DH too much so don't really want to talk to him until we get to the appointment tomorrow.

Kayzr · 20/10/2011 06:45

Davina I hope your placenta moves out of the way. I'm sure it will do as its quite common.

I've been awake since half 2. I'm bloody exhausted. Sad

Carlitawantsababy · 20/10/2011 09:40

davina, my sister was told exactly the same thing with her placenta and it is totally out the way now, she is now 32 weeks. Smile
kayzr what's keeping you up?
