BunMyOven · 04/10/2011 17:06

Hi all!

Mamma! Congratulations!! So lovely to have you back Smile I would also agree with Carlita re your dates, though I'm very baby brained atm so my word is far from reliable!

Trope the sewing machine is a . . . . . . JMB 48 stitch selection domestic sewing machine. No idea if that any good or not, haha! It arrived on Saturday (super fast delivery!), I sat down with it for an hour and now know how to use it just need a lot of practice with perfecting my sewing skills!
Am now on my penultimate row of patchwork - have been a sewing fiend the last week so I can get this finished, I was actually dreaming about bloody patchwork the other night! Am going to take a break from it to do some fun little Christmas projects and perfect/improve(!) my sewing machine skills Smile

Carlita I too was an early lactator, at 15weeks too - we should start the 'TMI Club' Grin It hasn't been an issue though, just stayed the same as you've described.
We also, unfortunately, have PGP in common. I've just spoken to my midwife this afternoon actually and she's referring me to a physio. I should have seen one weeks ago but both I and previous midwives have been shite. It's bloody awful isn't it? Do you have a birthing ball? I've found mine quite helpful for sitting on and doing a few pain free exercises that seem to be helping. I can't sit flat on my bum unless I'm on the ball - otherwise I have to be leaning over on my left side (PGP's worse on my right side), can't lie on my back either. It's been very difficult dealing with DS - getting up and down all the time; him climbing all over me etc and don't get me started on walking! Grin

Well, those potatoes and going to peel themselves! Oh the glamour! Wink

Carlitawantsababy · 04/10/2011 17:18

Ah bun sorry to hear that! You also have hypermobility right? It's one of the causes of PGP, I don't have a birthing ball. I shall get one! I just bought a pelvic support band from amazon which supposedly helps. My pain is also much worse on the right and yeah, when I have the pain (was from evening, now from lunchtime) can't sit down, can't lay on my back, just have to lay on my side! Poor you with DS to look after, I don't know how I'd cope, I can barely walk to the bathroom. Have a meeting with my boss tomorrow morning, have pre warned her that we need a plan to stop everything collapsing if I take time off sick as if I had a job where someone could cover me i'd've got myself signed off by now! Moan moan moan! Thanks for the support everyone! Smile

MammaInTheMaking · 04/10/2011 17:27

This PGP sounds horrific. Good luck Carlita and Bun getting better.

Yes, i'm more of the mind that i'm 4+4. I suppose this is why they say don't TTC on the cycle following the MC. At least I know my OV date though :)

I think I'm still going to hold off on the GP app for a couple of weeks. Til i'm 6 weeks at least. They whole way things happened when i mced was fantastic. Cannot fault the NHS for how i was dealt with. So i'm feeling good about that side of things.

BTW Bun and Trope, i got a sewing machine for Christmas and taught myself how to use it. Am trying to set up a business making baby things. Already doing quite well on facebook and this weekend a real life shop (!!!) took some samples and are going to have a go at selling them! Sewing is amazing - go for it!!!!!!! x

MammaInTheMaking · 04/10/2011 17:28

Read that back.....MCing wasn't fantastic. But the NHS were. Bloody hell, need to read these things back before posting!

foolserrand · 04/10/2011 17:58

Carlita that's not fair! She sounds rubbish. Useless like Trope's was, but nasty to boot. You shouldn't have to deal with being in pain and then skeptics in the healthcare profession when you mention it. Do not blame you for the text, doubt I could have been so nice!

Bun we struggled to figure out my dates too thanks to no af for 6 months prior to poas. Think if you know when you ov'd you can just add 2 weeks to that and be fairly accurate. Doctors always work from 1st day of last period (well, unless they're dealing with pita like me! :o) which would be 2 weeks prior to ov approx.

Bats I like that ad too! Hope the hormones go a little easier on you soon so you can stop crying at adverts!

Still suffering from Saturday night here. Am useless and forgetful and have had a nasty headache all day. Even my eye socket hurts! Still, glad I have ds, he's made me laugh all day. Nearly had me weeping earlier when I was chopping an onion (I'm the sensitive type who cries) he walked into the kitchen, took one look at me and said "mummy sad" in a very concerned voice. This was immediately followed by "HUGS!" I'm a very lucky mum :o.

Worrying about fool dog 1 at the moment. He's suffering from chronic lameness. Diagnosed with arthritis in his hips and an as yet unknown problem with his forelegs. Poor boy. He's not even 5 yet. I am worried that something has happened to his mental state too. He's just not right. Can't help but fear the worst. He's my pfb. Impeccably trained, a therapy dog, beautiful monster who even ds and his friends can walk safely and often demand to He just seems so resigned to a life of no play, running, etc. It's so unfair.

BunMyOven · 04/10/2011 18:42

No Carlita, I'm definitely not hyper-mobile, can touch my toes (pre bump) but that's as far as it goes Grin I think it's Ghost that has hyper-mobility.
Do you get it where your pelvis locks and you have to 'pop/crunch' it back into place? I've started getting that the last couple of weeks and it's grim as hell! Sorry to hear your suffering with it too (though it is a little nice to have someone to moan about it with Grin Have been meaning to get a support band too, am really feeling the weight of the bump on my pelvis now. I do have a Bump Band but that's not been any use, think it's a bit big which doesn't help.

Mamma that's great that the NHS were there for you when you needed them.
And how fantastic about your business! Got a link? Congratulations with the shop taking on samples, could be the start of something big Grin

Fools I forgot to say how fantastic the Boy George picture is! Make me laugh Grin
Your DS sounds completely adorable! My DS just looks puzzled if people are crying and then passes them lots of toys, god help his future girl/boyfriends! Grin
How sad about your dog Sad What breed is he? It's so horrible to see animals in discomfort isn't it, especially your own, much loved pet! Hope things start looking up for him soon

Carlitawantsababy · 04/10/2011 18:59

Ooh bun no crunching has been required as yet, sounds awful!
mamma post some pics of stuff you've made please! We're a creative little bunch aren't we? Hooray for sewing machines Smile
fools sorry to hear about your dog. I hope you can get to the bottom of his problems soon, he's far too young for all of that. my dog is 4.5 so I know how lively they ought to be. Who does he provide therapy for? Did you train him yourself?
Thanks for the support with the text. Knew I shouldn't send it whilst I was sending it but at the same time can't deal with someone telling me things about the condition I have that are simply not true especially in a brushing it off type manner as she was Angry! Made me feel better which is the main thing and if she has a look at the website then all the better!

OP posts:
foolserrand · 04/10/2011 20:12

Bun so glad I could make you laugh (and the rest of you for that matter) it was utter hell looking like that and being stone cold sober. And yes, I have the easiest, sweetest child in the world :o I am not in any way biased! This has made me almost certain dc2 will come out vomiting slime and head rotating to compensate.

Mamma another here wanting a nose at your wares! That's amazing getting samples into a shop. How quickly can you make the clothes? Hope its quickly!

Both dogs are rotties (although I think the younger one is crossed) I do know they are prone to joint issues, but never thought it would send him downhill so fast. I did train him by myself, but took him to a registered trainer to get his good citizenship awards and reinforce my commands with canine distractions. He is currently taking time off while we get him better, or at least in less pain, but has been into the local hospital, nursing homes, special needs school (his favourite) and has helped a few people with their fears of dogs (if you can walk, groom and feed at 53kg rottweiler, you can handle most dogs!) He is a very special dog.

Davinaaddict · 04/10/2011 21:37

Hi ladies. Just realised just how long it is since I last posted ? I started to draft a catch up a few days ago and it?s still sat in my notes on my phone ? oops!! Baby brain at its best Grin.

Thanks for all your nice words about my freak out ? feeling much better now and there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, which is good.

Yay for the boiler trope! And perfect weather to have it installed too Smile Hope you?re feeling better now.
Not sure whether I?d like a white Xmas or not ? we?re supposed to be going to SIL?s for a big family Xmas but I would secretly love to get snowed in so we can have a lovely day, just the 3.5 of us But we?re the same ? our road doesn?t get gritted either so getting off it can be a bit of a challenge. Really not looking forward to having to drive in the snow though Sad
Wow that sounds like a BUSY Monday ? how have you got the energy for all that??? I can?t even manage 2 flights of stairs at work (although I do manage an hours Zumba class ? work that one out if you can?.maybe just because there are no stairs involved)

Love the Boy George photo fools! Fabulous costume. I love fancy dress, except when I?m pregnant ? lazy-itus I think. Aw, what a cutie your DS is! That nearly had me in tears bloody hormones Grin Sorry to hear about your dog though Sad

Wow Carlita, that dress is AMAZING ? you are so talented, you should open your own shop. Sorry about the crappy bed-boundness ? new word of the day. Another pregnancy symptom ? when running out of words, make them up Smile God, your MW sounds like a right cow!!! And FFS, does 3 days really make that much difference?? You must be really Angry Like the text ? she might act as if you never sent it though?but hopefully she?ll take note and do some flippin? research.

Hi Mamma - Welcome back. Congratulations ? we missed you! Grin Glad your DP is over the moon for you this time. Sounds like you?ve got your dates about right, although not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. And please, share your business link/photos if you don?t mind!

Ooh Bun, that crunching sounds awful! Hope you feel better soon.

We had a fab weekend ? sunbathing and playing in the garden with DS, family picnic in the garden with Daddy as well, and we?ve managed to clear out DS?s new bedroom completely now. We?ve set that target to move him to the new room just before Xmas, so plenty of time to decorate, and move him across the landing. Then there should be a good 3 months between him moving & baby being born, then at least another 4 months before baby goes into his old bedroom. So hoping that will be enough so he doesn?t feel like he?s been pushed out to make room for baby brother/sister. Then Sunday was a BBQ in the pouring rain ? so terribly British Grin And some fab news ? my friend who was pregnant at the same time as me last time (there was 1 month between them), is pregnant again!! It was actually an accident this time, but they were going to try again in about 6 months anyway, so it?s not unplanned as such, just a little early! They are pleased though so I?m allowed to be happy to have my pregnancy buddy back. So all in all a fab weekend for me Grin

Hope you guys are all well this evening. I?m off for an early night before a ridiculously long day in the big smoke ? nite all!

Carlitawantsababy · 04/10/2011 22:18

Yay davina you're back! Great news about your friend, that'll be lovely. Glad you liked the dress, just praying it arrives in NI tomorrow as stupidly sent it via normal I trust the Royal Mail post Thanks re the midwife stuff, glad you're all on my side. That would be perfect for me if she pretended like it didn't happen but actually did some research! Grin
fools your doggy sounds lovely, rotties are just gorgeous. I have an English bull terrier, she is amazingly ugly gorgeous!

Morning!!!!!!!!

Did another test last night and the line was much darker than Monday morning. So heading in the right direction.

My little shop is on Facebook (Lumin Likes). I'm not being too active on FB at the moment though because i'm ridiculously busy doing other things. Got a voicemail yesterday and the shop want to sell my stuff! So i'm really chuffed. I make bibs and burp cloths. Would love to do clothes but not quite at that level yet. I'll learn!

Hi Davina, i remember you!! Your weekend sounded lovely. Plus the BBQ in the pouring rain. I did that very same thing a couple of weeks ago!! Go us Brits! Also that's really lovely news you have a fellow pg buddy. You can go through it together all over again!

A close friend of me and DP recently announced she's 4 months PG. If i'd kept the bean last time i'd have been a month behind her. As it turns out i'm now 3 months behind her. Anyway, she was chatting to DP last night and said she'd love it if we could have a baby around the same time as her because then we could do things together as 2 families etc. She doesn't know we're even trying let alone pg! Hehe, can't wait to announce this one. Am munching tonnes of fruit and nuts and things to make my body really want to keep hold of bean #2.

Fools I hope your doggy is feeling better soon. It's so upsetting to see pets not feeling well. x

MammaInTheMaking · 05/10/2011 13:08

So quiet in here today!

In other news my boobs were hurting last night. It's an absolute first. And in equally exciting news i actually went to the toilet 6 times before lunch today. 6 times in 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ghosteditor · 05/10/2011 14:20

congrats mamma it's great to hear that the line is getting darker! Don't test too much though; that way madness lies Grin

bun and carlita I also need to join the TMI club; if I remember right it was around 15 weeks too and I'm still (sporadically) at it. Doesn't bother me though! And yes I'm the hypermobile one.

You can't scare me with tales of clicking/cracking joints though: mine are more or less the same as always and the current list of cracky joints for me is: jaw, neck, collar bones, ribs, spine, elbows, wrists, knuckles, hips, SI joints, knees, ankles, and toes. To be honest I don't know if there is anything that doesn't crack! Only a few crack spontaneously but after I while I start to feel jammed up if I don't do a good twist. Hips and knees occasionally get a bit jammed and give some almighty and quite painful clicks. There's no evidence that it leads to arthritis but it's probably a consequence of the hypermobility: the joints don't sit where they should do and the click is them sliding into/out of place. I am officially gross.

Just did my first interview for maternity cover this morning! I can't believe it's all happening so fast. Also had my 25 week GP appt and bump is measuring perfectly for dates, weight gain is ok, my blood pressure was ok (in the end - was high at first), bump's heart rate was perfect - all good. There was a trace if blood in my urine but it's most likely nothing to worry about; the lab is running a couple of tests.

MammaInTheMaking · 05/10/2011 14:53

Hi Ghost! Things sound like things are going so well with you and your bubba! You must be so happy! Also that's scary about maternity cover. I hope you find someone good. Are you interviewing internal or external candidates?

Just 2 tests on this pregnancy and don't really have any urge to do another. Infact i've never been very big of peeing on sticks, be it ovulation or pregnancy. Once it says yay or ney i'm quite happy. Whoop whoop!

foolserrand · 05/10/2011 15:39

Afternoon all! :o

Ghost I can't believe how far along you are. Very glad all is well and am only a little jealous of your bump. I'm currently stuck in my maternity clothes but just look a bit chubby and flabby. It's not fair! When will you be starting your mat leave? It's all very exciting, interviewing your replacement. I'd be worried about choosing someone too good and then nobody wanting me back, but then I'm a total idiot!

Mamma it really is brilliant that you're back here so quickly. Thrilled your dh is so excited this time round. I don't blame you for testing again, bet it felt almost too good to be true. A darker line is really fab though, very comforting.

I'm a single mum for the next 24 hours. Dh is away for business. I am thrilled. No snoring, cover hogging... boy to have to share my bed with. No compromise on the tv. Dogs will be on the sofas. Everything feels calmer. That doesn't bode well for the poor guy, does it?!

I'm sporting a fantastic fat lip today. Ds head butted me and split it rather impressively. When my dear old dad arrived to pick up dh (dad is retiring soon and we will be taking over the family business), dh told him he'd "reminded me of my place before leaving" Hmm - yes, dh is a total prat at times. Don't think dad found it funny, looked near ready to kill him until I explained.

Right, that's enough of me prattling on. I'm sure you're all bored of me! :o

ghosteditor · 05/10/2011 15:50

fools that's quite entertaining of your DH - I know one shouldn't joke about these things but surely the whole scenario lies in the improbability of your DH even attempting anything like that? Or am I just a non-PC pregnant lady who laughs at random things? Hope you're healing ok though - I've found I've been slower to heal during pg. Also, I'll never forget the day my brother headbutted my mum when he was very little and knocked out one of her front teeth - bad times indeed!

Yes, I have a proper bump now, but with the right maternity clothes it doesn't look too giant! I won't start maternity leave until mid December but hopefully my cover will start in mid Nov in case of health issues, and to cover the short weeks I'm planning on taking from Nov onwards. It's external candidates as we have only 7 people in our European office and no-one else does anything like my job. The guy today was quite sweet - he has 7 more years experience than me but isn't yet working at my level, and was really keen. Not quite as in-your-face ambitious as I can sometimes be but seemed very thorough and efficient; in short, someone I'd be happy to leave the department with for a year or so. I'm not too worried about who we chose to cover me but that's because I have a giant ego when it comes to work Grin

and mamma yes I have been really lucky so far with the pregnancy - just some nausea at first, then heartburn, and fat feet during the hot weather, all of which I could live with and definitely shouldn't complain about! I have Frankfurt book fair next week though (60 meetings over 4 days, plus evening receptions/working dinners) so I fully expect to be a broken woman in two weeks' time...

foolserrand · 05/10/2011 16:26

The joke was funny, just not to my father. He doesn't have a sense of humour. He's actually a complete arse, dad not dh. Although, thinking about it..

Glad this guy was promising. Thorough but lacking motivation to usurp you sounds good. Fingers crossed they just get better and better.

Lip is already healing well. Still very swollen, but the split is shrinking fast. I have quite full lips anyway so it is probably hardly noticable and I tend to heal quickly when it comes to cuts, just not bruises (a well aimed paintball marked me for a good year) or broken bones (toes so far are at 10 weeks :() Still, its only a minor annoyance. Just needs to be gone by Saturday - I'm working with 35 6 year olds (someone kill me!) and doubt it would go down well if I look a bit roughed up!

peapop · 05/10/2011 17:07

Hi all! Haven't been around for a while, have had a quick read through what I've missed but will have to have a proper read soon!
Lovely to see some new faces on here! Congratulations on the BFPs!!
I'm 9+6 now and seem to be showing already!! Got my scan date through yesterday for 25th October so counting down the days! Also have to go see someone in Genetics this Friday as I have something called Alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency, basically I lack an enzyme that helps your lungs recover from illness. It's never really bothered me but obviously we need to know what effects it may have on our little one. They've asked dp to come too so assume they will give him a blood test to see if he is a carrier before worrying any further but still a bit frightening.
So sorry for the rubbish catch up, I'm exhausted and barely make any sense at the moment. Promise I will try to pay more attention and keep up with you lovely ladies from now on Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 05/10/2011 17:25

mamma I remember now about your bibs and burp cloths, will have to take a look, I've made a huge stack of bandana bibs for the baby but hadn't though about burp clothes. Am also planning to make some washable wipes (just hemmed cotton squares, I'm not keen on using them for poo or when I'm out but I figure it'll save some money and trees when just wiping wee at home and seeing as I'll be washing nappies anyway, might as well.
You have a pregnant friend too, lovely! I have one with the same due date as me (but she lives in berkshire) and one a month behind!
Hooray for sore boobies and peeing a lot, everything is pointing to this little bean sticking! Smile

ghost it's great that you're interviewing for your replacement, very organised! I would be shocked if my replacement starts whilst I am still there, it's pretty much tradition to have a month or two gap with no manager and nothing in the way of a handover at my work! Sounds good about your appointment and glad to have you in the TMI club! Grin

Ooh fools hope your lip gets better soon! Love your DH'a joke, brilliant! Yes, a tiny violin emoticon sounds ideal, perhaps we should put it to MN HQ, they don't have their priorities right, I have never used Biscuit, Wine, Brew or Thanks but I would use [tiny violin] and [sick] and [hormones].

Hi peapop good to 'see' you, I was showing by then too! Glad your scan date is through, not long now! Hope your appointments and tests go well.

I had a meeting with my manager this morning about my PGP problems and am now officially home based, it is such a relief, I would much rather work from home than have to take time off sick and the services I manage would actually fall apart if I wasn't around as I'm the only one who knows how everything works! Very happy! Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 05/10/2011 18:30

mamma you have superb taste in fabrics, you stuff is absolutely gorgeous! Are you using fleece to back them? I used micro fibre for mine but have since heard some babies are allergic to it. How did you get your stuff into shops? Did they approach you or vice versa? What cut so they want? I was thinking of approaching a few of the crafty shops once I move to Hastings to see if they would stock some bits and pieces (you don't live anywhere near there do you? Don't want to compete with you!) have you tried making any clothes? You definitely have the required skills, clothes patterns are just like cooking from recipes, you just need the basic skills then follow the steps to create the product and your stitching looks much neater than mine! Grin

Davinaaddict · 05/10/2011 21:23

Hi ladies - a flying visit from me, just to wave and say hi! Glad things are going well for so many of us - will have a proper catch up tomorrow. I'm falling asleep as I type, after a 14.5 hour day zzzzzz

trope · 05/10/2011 21:48

hi all, too tired to properly post right now - too many posts to catch up on! Just wanted to say that I had my 12 week scan today and it went brilliantly! Fuzzy was wriggling around like a mad thing (kept turning around, rotated through 360 degrees multiple times, kicked and stretched and arched their back lots!) I got sent off to have a wee to see if that would get fuzzy to settle down into a position they could do the nuchal fold measurement, that didn't work, so I then got sent off for a walk and a bar of chocolate - which amazingly worked! (Awesome excuse to have a bar of chocolate whenever I need a scan!) Nuchal measurement was fine, so just have to wait for the blood test results. Fuzzy is now a massive 6.7cm long and hands, feet, spine, brain etc all look normal. Rather excitingly I have had my dates moved due to just how big fuzzy is - I am now officially 13 weeks and have a due date of the 11th April! As of tomorrow i'm in the second trimester - exciting! I've posted the photos to my profile in case anyone would like to have a peek!

Will catch up/post properly tomorrow when i'm less exhausted!

Carlitawantsababy · 06/10/2011 08:44

Wow trope great pictures! How wonderful that fuzzy is doing so well and you are speeding towards the second trimester. The second trimester is great as long as you don't expect too much from it, remember how tired you were in ordinary life prior to being pregnant? That's what you're going back to, I think when books and people say ooh, the second trimester when you're full of energy people expect a bit too much then get a disappointment! Grin

OP posts:
MammaInTheMaking · 06/10/2011 09:37

trope those photos are AMAZING. OMG i can't wait to get pics like that. I bet you can't stop looking at them. Just to think that's your wonderful future growing in there! So with these scans do they email you the pics or do they only give you a hard copy? I really don't know what happens with all of this...... Also, happy 13 weeks old to Fuzzy!

Carlita all my bibs are backed in fleese. I do that because fleese is really absorbant and quite water-proof. So it keeps a lot of the moisture off baby's chest. I've had some really great feedback on my products though have recently taken a bit of a back step. It's really a hobby so i don't want to stop enjoying it if you see what i mean. I live in London :) With the shop, it was a random coincidence of a old school friend contacting me on FB saying she'd been to a shop where she lives and started talking about my bibs. The shop manager said she'd love to see my items. Turned out I was going to that part of the country to see family the very next weekend so we went along. They've said that they aim to sell things for double what they buy them for which is making all of this quite tricky. I can reduce the price if they are bulk bought, but as I live at the other end of the country, i'm really going to get stung with postal costs if i reduce them to the price they want to buy them for. I'm considering saying yes for the items i left with her, but i don't know if i can afford to do it with anything in the future i need to send up there. I think i'm going to have to hunt out some places in London...then i can just drop them round and save on post. I'm definitely going to have a go at clothes. Once i get a bit of time in my life! We moved house recently and it needs so much work, so it's not actually that nice being in my sewing room because everything around it is a bit nasty and dark etc! My sewing room is the dining room. We don't spend much time in there!

My news is that my B cup boobs have grown. DP got particularly excited when I told him this on the way into work! Haha!
