H007 do try not to worry. They are pretty good at spotting cancer, so it's likely to be something else. I hope you get more news in a couple of weeks.
Moosey I'm being scanned every two weeks as there is some concern over Connor's blood type. I am kell (similar to Rhesus factor) negative, but have anti kell antibodies as I was given kell positive blood when I had a transfusion after a PPH with DD1. This could mean that if Connor is kell positive, I will attack and destroy his red blood cells and he will be severely anaemic and have poor growth. The scans check his growth, and monitor blood flow in his brain to see if it looks reduced. Everything looks fine.
There is a new test that I have had whereby they analyse (lots of!) my blood, looking for any stray kell positive cells, as some of Connor's will have crossed the placenta. The test predicted that he is kell negative, as no positive cells were found, but they caveat their prediction stating that it's possible that no foetal cells were present in the sample, so it could be wrong, and therefore the result should not be used to alter clinical decisions. Hence they will continue to scan me, even though no one thinks there is a problem. The test has been accurate in 74/75 cases so far, and in any case my donors should both have been screened to exclude their being kell positive, as it was known that I had the antibodies before I started IVF.
I'm not at all concerned, and enjoying the extra scans. A couple of months ago, I prepaid a 4D private scan to happen next Tuesday, and have been wishing I'd kept my money since all the fortnightly scans started. Ah well.
