Folic I can't believe I am sharing this but.....I too am, er, troubled with discharge. Nothing nasty, smelly or itchy, but I just feel constantly damp - if I didn't wear a panty liner I would have to change my knickers four times a day, and I wouldn't be able to wear trousers any more than once before washing either. Blush

Thank goodness for the anoymity of the internet. This is why I can't bring myself to join you all on facebook - I don't want anyone matching a face to the discharge, if you know what I mean!

SnoozleDoozle · 17/08/2011 21:02

anonymity, anonymity (that spelling still doesn't look right.....)

Folicacid · 17/08/2011 21:10

...matching a face to the discharge...Snoozle that has got to be the all time most brilliantist phrase I've ever seen on here. Please twirl and take a bow!Grin

Thank you all for making me not feel like a damp weirdo. This is why groups like this are worth their weight in always ultra.

goldmaple · 17/08/2011 22:10

folic have the same problem... had it from the very start and keep reading that it is supposed to increase in the third trimester. joy. I just change knicker frequently... but I might get some panty liners when I buy my maternity pads...

Had 28 wks appt today. Bubba is doing great. Its a girl and her heart rate was 158, so I guess the 'HB high for girl' holds true in my case. I am now going to start exercising more as I have gained 30lbs and bubba has only gained 2.5llbs:)

6 weeks until Maternity leave. I can't believe how fast everything is going, finally got a stroller and car seat and I push it around the house Blush but can't quite believe that I'll actually have a baby to put in it. Going to order the rest of the big stuff this weekend.

Can I get opinions on whther or not a rocking chair is worth the money ($250). I like the idea but we have comfy couches and I don't want to be buying tons of stuff that isn't necessary.

PamSco · 17/08/2011 22:38

I'm getting a rocking chair, mainly for the last 10 weeks. I slouch on the sofa a rocking chair will fix my posture a bit better. But I'm going for a simple old school wooden one. My mum had one for breastfeeding and loved the peaceful rocking.

Caliphora · 17/08/2011 23:57

When we moved into our new house it came with a rocking chair. Win!

stripeymummy · 18/08/2011 06:33

Yup, have also had the discharge on and off since quite early on - to the point that I had a wee bit of nappy rash - ugh! Never been so pleased to have a free sample of burt's bees nappy cream :o TMI

Re the fetal HB thing, we're in the pink (probably) and HB has been in the mid 130s, so I don't know how accurate the OWT is, or whether we just have a lazy baby Wink I think the latter, she def likes fidgeting and rummaging, but not really into acrobatics.

Glad to hear that everyones 28wk appointments have gone well, here's to the final strait Wine

SnoozleDoozle · 18/08/2011 07:40

I don't know if I'm having a girl or a boy, but I do know that last time the heartbeat thing held true for me - the heart was fast and I had a girl.

I have appt this morning for the first anti-D injection, and I remember from last time that it stung a lot. Most annoying thing is that DHs mum thinks that he has negative blood group too, in which case I don't need the injection since junior will be negative too, but because we don't have anything definite in his medical records (they are probably non existent - I've known him about 18 years and have only ever known him to visit the doctor about twice) I have to get the injection. Grrr. Wish they would test his blood instead!

Anyone else with weirdy blood? I'm o negative and used to be a blood donor (haven't been able to for the past few years, due to medical history) and once they got hold of my details they used to write to me about once a fortnight begging for my blood, as apparently its so fabulous and rare! Lucky me...

jamama · 18/08/2011 10:43

Morning all, glad to hear all the good news.
28wk appt was fine here too... hr varied a bit (baby tried to escape from probe, and moving made the hr rise from 140ish to 150-60ish). We chose not to find out the sex, so we'll see if this has any bearing! Fundal height etc bang on the line, and thankfully no need for extra blood tests.
snoozle unfortunately wrt Rh, they won't take mum's word on who the father is; I have a friend who is due Feb & is having to have anti-D already, they won't test her dh either.
I am desperate to buy a rocker, but haven't even discussed it with dh because I know he'll tell me it is a pointless waste of money.

knockedupagain · 18/08/2011 11:24

H007 Good luck!

I had a rocker. Didn't work for me at all. Was very glad to sell it, as it took up a lot of space in my tiny nursery. I found the arms got in the way of the position that I found best for breastfeeding. Perhaps if I'd bought one without arms it would have worked out. I have no doubt there are some for whom a rocker is a godsend. It's such a bugger that there is no way of knowing whether it will work for you or not until you try it. And even then, it not not be much use in the early weeks when you are establishing breastfeeding... but great thereafter...or the other way around! If you're not minted you could look for a second hand one that you could sell on if it's not for you, thereby not wasting money at least.

Connor's hb is definitely galloping horse despite his boy bits so I would place your odds of boy/girl at 50/50 Folic. Sorry to be so dull and prosaic! I do have a totally unscientific feeling that you will in fact have a girl, but when I analyse why I think this it turns out to be because I think you want a girl, and you're very nice, and I'm a positive thinker, so have allocated you a girl in my head. 50/50 as to whether I'm right though!

On another note, I too could use my knickers as a source of emergency wallpaper paste if necessary. Have had to stop wearing lacy ones as they don't contain it and I then have to wash the trousers. I don't dare use panty shields as that would be tempting thrush, so just have to keep changing pants. Sigh.

Poppet45 · 18/08/2011 12:36

Another Primula abuser/wallpaper paste smuggler here. Grin I had it with DS, but hadn't had it with DD til this week or so. I keep thinking my pregnancies are so different, but actually its just because I haven't yet got to the stage for a particular symptom to kick in. Then it happens and I remember it happened at about the same stage with J. Don't have a MW's appt til the 30th but looking forward to hearing Bunny's hb. She's been quite quiet this week after going loopy at the w/e. Still getting wriggles and kicks but none of the somersaults (I'm trying not to be uber paranoid, but am fretting its cos she's got herself taffled up in her cord with all her antics and can't move so much, so actually totally paranoid!, ahem)
The HB thing was spot on for J, he was a low train!

Caliphora · 18/08/2011 12:58

complete side note Isn't Primula great? I'm so craving some now... Mmmm... Soft cheesy goodness.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 18/08/2011 13:11

Glad we can share TMI discharge stories Grin

I too have been wearing panty liners daily. I'm also concerned that the area in question smells quite strong (waaaaaay TMI I know) Blush
I have no other symptoms of UTI and feel fine in myself, it's just I smell quite strongly of 'me' IYKWIM!!!
It may be related to the terrible state of my lady garden though - I need to get DP to sort it out with his scissors Grin

PamSco · 18/08/2011 13:42

Lol MrsA DH is standing over me with scissors after every shower! But I can still run away. I just don't trust him not to indulge in pubic topiary and I'd end up with a smiley face or Mini Mouse! Btw - you may not actually smell stronger - you maybe smelling it more - my sense of smell is through the roof! I can smell what my colleagues had for lunch on Saturday.

Cali I am with you 100%! I am loving the chivey cheesey toothpaste. Nom nom nom. I work out in the sticks with a small Tesco very close and nothing else and they DON'T STOCK IT!!! Ahhhh. Though I am trying to limit myself to 2 tubes a week, and I did have it for breakfast.

I have also weakened occasionally and eaten whole boxes of dairylea triangles in one sitting.

I heard a theory recently that we resort to the food of our childhood when we are pregnant and I have to say that is true for me - I was a veggie all my young years and cheese spread was my standard school packed lunch as I didn't like how cheese sweats.

OP posts:
Staceroo · 18/08/2011 13:44

Cali I've just been spooning the dairylea into my mouth for lunch! Yum yum!

And not the slightest bit put off by the talk of discharge! In fact I'll join that club too... but it seems to be hardly anything some days and loads the next!

MrsA I think I've just about got a couple of weeks left of self grooming then i'll be handing the trimmer over to DH! Struggled to but my tights on this morning though, so anything involving bending down is getting harder!

Thanks for all the education re fundal heights etc! We have aour 28 wk appointment on Saturday. Really hope they start to tell me some more about labour and birth plans etc. DH says I should write a list of questions, but they always seem so busy and in a bit of a rush I never like to ask! May write a list and leave DH in charge so he can ask!

Pushchair delivered yesterday! But no time to unpack and build it! Hopefully get to play tonight after yoga!

H007 · 18/08/2011 13:48

With regards to the rocking chair I have decided to go with a bean2bed it's like the world's biggest beanbag and kind of cuddles you into the position that you wish to be in, it has been a godsend when my pelvis is achy however it is a nightmare getting up sometimes. On the multifunctionality (probably not even close to a word) of the thing the main selling point is that within the bag is a double bed which you can use if you have guests over etc.

Caliphora · 18/08/2011 13:57

H007 I'd probably sit in it and NEVER get up ;)

PamSco I reckon that's true - I've been cooking so much Danish comfort food and baking all my favourite childhood goodies - not to mention raiding IKEA for Swedish sweets and chocolate! Primula is v. common in Sweden, and come in big, cheap tubes, so as a kid it was staple after-school sammiches...

cep · 18/08/2011 15:46

i've never tried primula, what's it good on?

i have my scan tomorrow to check for size, looking forward to seeing baby again.

Caliphora · 18/08/2011 15:48

Cep Soft white rolls, dark rye bread, thick sliced brown bread... A spoon? As long as the bread is fresh, it's divine on most things.

Folicacid · 18/08/2011 15:54

Aaah I've been smushing laughing cow triangles between two oatcakes as a snack...didn't think of it as some kind of regression.

knocked up lovin your allocation of a girl to me...why thank you very much Grin. I'm kinda on fence with what sex I'd secretly prefer. I was all a bit scared of having a boy at first but now I'm well up for it either way. Would also stop any family comparisons with other baby girls which could be handy.

Caliphora · 18/08/2011 15:55

Spotted: IKEA Family price on "Somnat" cot bed - down from £50 to £30. Not sure how many of you would buy IKEA furniture, but it's a good deal for a basic cot bed.

Hils74 · 18/08/2011 16:16

H007 good luck

TIM alert! At the moment I feel like I am leaking from both ends! Crusty nipples and have started wearing panty liners due to excessive discharge, feel like a snail :)

Good luck to all other GTT's, I had mine on Monday, was so hungry afterwards I scoffed a packet of crisps before leaving the hospital car park! 28 wks tomorrow so they also did my bloods, measured fundus height (bang on for dates) and heard heartbeat when Fidget stayed still. I haven't heard results yet but I need to call tomorrow afternoon in case?

I remember primula, shrimp flavour was my favourite from childhood - but at the moment I'm going through tubs of nutella like it's going out of fashion. OH thinks the baby will be 50% chocolate hazelnut!!

Hils74 · 18/08/2011 16:35

cali that's brilliant, will show to OH!! :)

PamSco · 18/08/2011 17:19

What is Primula good with...

All forms of bread in fresh or stale form, crackers, crispbread, ryvita, balanced on the end of cheesy wotsits, celery, little blobs on spinach, hot crumpets, hot muffins, squirted in the middle of hot pita bread, naan breads, ready salted crisps, slices of apple, and as Cali says... on a spoon.

Though I have been caught squirting it straight from the tube onto my tongue.

Other flavours of Primula, that is not chive, are the work of the devil though ew, yuk, blurgh, yackamack, meh.

Obviously just my very humble personal opinion.

Outside of the next 3 months Primula is banned as it is bad food - real cheeses are so much better BUT I currently have no willpower to refuse the call of the Primula...

And now I have to go and buy dinner. What are the chances it will be a bowl of plastic cheese spread.
