Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mum2be79 · 30/08/2011 18:26

wormshuffler Your notso DFiL sounds like a twat mum2be79 stike him off the babysitting list right now!
Oiesha mum2be what a bloody nightmare of a man. Does MIL know how he reacted?

I am getting rather worried. Have I typed something and not known about it? Has Mumsnet gone haywire or has someone got a similar name to me because I can't remember typing anything about DFiL! Confused

GiraffeAHolic · 30/08/2011 19:06

Mum2be the comment about the shingles and not caring I think?

Wormshuffler · 30/08/2011 19:12

oops! it was meant for mummyzoe2012 sorry mum2be Blush and in hindsight it does sound harsh to the op too........... sorry again

addictediam · 30/08/2011 19:20

Mum2be I don't think it was you, but someone who posted just before you!

Hello all, back from a weekend camping! Shock I am not a camping person but now looking to buy a tent?! I think this baby has given me a personality transplant.

we've started thinking about names but just can't agree on anything!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 30/08/2011 20:02

is camping do-able with a bump then?

greenlady78 · 30/08/2011 20:38

fryn and bighotmama my scan is at 9am!!!! So excited....although just got super worried as I went to the loo and there was a darker yellow mini discharge on my underwear (sorry for TMI!). But I had two bleedings in the first trimester and am still totally traumatised by it Sad

GiraffeAHolic such a cute story about the blue kangoroo!!!!! Loved it!!!

Shonno hope you feel better soon and that the MW will be able to give you really good, proper advice!

I also started the little one kicking last week and it is the most incredible thing, at first I thought I had some really powerful gas going Blush Ha!

Hugs all around! xxx

Spagbolagain · 30/08/2011 20:55

Evening everyone. Wow lots of chat.....
Re the discussion on reusable nappies, one of the reasons I went for the itti bittis was the fact that the inserts can be separated for drying, and you can buy extra soaker sets without getting the whole nappy. We have a dryer, but didn't want to use for nappies for environmental and cost reasons. So I got a second set of inserts, which meant I could have one set drying and one in use. The outers dry in a flash so not an issue with them. Also can use the outer for more than one change as long as it hasn't got mucky.

Re the night time explosions, we use cloth during the day and a biodegradable disposable at night for that reason :o I like the nature babycare ones.

Oh my, the names debate. We are nowhere on that one.
Glad you are all having crazy dreams as well. Bruce Forsyth? Kangaroo babies? All very weird. I have also been having some, ahem, inappropriate dreams about colleagues and also a man who works in Tesco Blush

addictediam · 30/08/2011 20:55

Camping with bump is doable as long as there are no complications like spd. It's not the most comfortable nights sleep but with dd it was never going to be even if we had stayed somewhere that was less in the middle of a field under a tent!

mumnosbest · 30/08/2011 21:00

Hi all. Can I join you? I'm due beginning of Feb but having a CS and most likely will have a Jan baby. I too have just got back from camping and slept like a baby. Fresh air and sound of rain put me straight to sleep.

Nanny01 · 30/08/2011 21:02

Hi just wanted to wish all those having their scan this week best wishes. I was really nervous this time again.

addictediam -Camping was such hard work this yr, (6 of us) I don't think we will do it again as I can't face the thought of trying to keep a baby warm and quiet as we barely managed with our older kids. We did try camping when our kids were babies and gave up as it was difficult to. Have you got dc'c already couldn't remember if you did. We will be going for a cosy cottage some where nearer home not like Cornwall.

Can't wait to share my ideas with dh about my new name selection though Elliot might not appeal as it has that Macaulay Culkin connection. Does any one know a Elliot ? I haven't heard any but I kind of like it for now as we have traditional names for dc'c. I think it is probably easier to say names you hate than like.

mumnosbest · 30/08/2011 21:07

I know 2 Elliotts, both lovely 6 yr olds. One cheeky, 1 very shy. Also Elliott the cuddly elephant in card shops.

BigHotMama · 30/08/2011 21:09

Some funny dream stories am actually laughing my head off re blue kangaroo, brucey and tesco man ha! How random?

So green your first to get scan then fryn, and then me on that day how exciting! Won't be able to sleep the night before.
On discharge front green if your worried ring mw in morning to get advice and peace of mind.

On baby names front think got a first name for a boy but arguing over second name, me and dh have such different tastes, the girls name is proving difficult keep going on and off names which is bound to happen when your a teacher comparing them to pupils lol.

On the forgetfulness topic I turned up to a gig sat night without my shoes so had to go on bare foot very Blush but bloody comfier by far. Might do it more often Wink

Wormshuffler · 30/08/2011 21:13

Course you can mumnosbest the more the merrier! You have to be prepared to share details of your weird dreams though!

mumnosbest · 30/08/2011 21:17

No prob having plenty of those. All either animal themed,e.g frog-type baby with webbed feet or I wake up blushing after nice dreams about old (male) school friends Blush

BigHotMama · 30/08/2011 21:28

Welcome mumnosbest! Didn't see your post earlier am suffering with blindness aswell as forgetfulness.

Smurf is kicking or punching my bladder like crazy it's making me jump just hope I don't accidentally wee myself.

GiraffeAHolic · 30/08/2011 21:33

I've felt CheesyMonster-RainDrop (may have to start abbreviating that :)) moving for about 7 weeks now, sometimes it's almost constant and really strong, but DH still can't feel the movement from the outside.

Do you reckon he/she is laying in a funny position?

Oeisha · 30/08/2011 21:36

Ah! Yes, sorry mum2be I meant mummyzoe re: shingles...but am obviously more insane/exhausted than I initially thought.

mumsnobest welcome! Of course you can join... Dreams that babies are frogs are quite common I think. I'm beginning to feel a bit of a freak now (or at least a bit of a dream-life-slut) as I can say that yup, schoolfriends are on my list too, even before pg...as well as random people, people from work, celebs etc. (Jenson Button last night...though I don't remember the details and I'm not 100% sure we 'did the nasty', just kinda get the feeling it happened, but there was some other weirdness too but can't remember - no hammers though).

giraffe also loving the blue-kangaroo story. There's a whole series of children's books about Blue Kangaroo so made me chuckle lots!

Re: forgetfulness. I got in the shower with my pjs on this morning. Luckily, I had the shower spraying on the wall as I'd just cleaned down the bathroom and obviously hadn't put it back right, so only got 1 leg wet and everythig a bit damp, but I looked down and though "how do I usually get my pjs dry in the day then?" before realising I don't ususally wear them in the shower...

I'm surprisingly unexcited about the scan tomorrow. I feel far too bloody awful for excitment, cold seems to be getting worse*. DH want to find out sex, so if we can we will. I want him to feel as close to Yolkis as possible, and he thinks finding out the sex might help!

*feel bad as I'm meant to be 'stepping up' at work (read: actually being allowed to do my job), so really don't want to have any time off...but I can't do my usual job with a cold anyway, so, well, I'll just see how I feel post-scan tomorrow I think.

I think I should go to bed...nn all and gl fish! (please tell me it was fish having the scan tomorrow too...

ghosteditor · 30/08/2011 21:50

hey ladies! wow, there's been so much talk over the last few days, can't possibly hope to catch up! All I can really say is good luck to those having scans, welcome to the newbies, and hope everyone is keeping well Smile

DH and I are taking a few days off to finish sorting out the kitchen, do some stuff with the house, check out a few pram shops (!) and bits and pieces, but I really don't know where the days have gone! Last day off tomorrow for me.

We've been revisiting the plan for my maternity leave and I think I'll plan to finish work around Dec 18, but will only work 3 or 4 day weeks for Nov and Dec. It sounds like my work will want to get my maternity cover to start in Nov so we can do some training, which makes things easier for me too.

Oh, and today I found out that I definitely can't do the front lying exercises at Pilates any more - I can just about rest on my belly but can't lift my legs or arms without feeling too squished. Yet another milestone I suppose Grin

ghosteditor · 30/08/2011 21:53

one more thing - is anyone else playing music to their bumps? I heard that if you pick one track and play it repeatedly, when the little on is born, he/she will go still and quiet when the song is played (only at first though Grin) as it's so recognisable, but different from when it's heard through the womb.

It was years ago, but whatever I saw, one couple picked a classical piece, and the other picked Backstreet Boys - they both worked equally well Grin

We've just been doing it with some over ear headphones - no idea if it's too early but makes us both laugh anyway!

redheadbedhead · 30/08/2011 22:12

welcome mumnosbest

ghost we've just started singing Lavenders Blue and Eidelweiss to the Piglet for exactly that reason, now that it's ears are probably working! Maybe I should pick something that goes on for a while in case it helps it get to sleep easier..

Oeisha your shower story made me laugh out loud!!

giraffe I have hardly felt the Piflet at all really, so I reckon sometimes they shift about behind the placenta, or are just not that kicky? not sure.... am going to ring up AGAIN tomorrow and try and get my bloody scan, seeing as I'm now 19 and a half wks with no scan in sight!!

redheadbedhead · 30/08/2011 22:13

Piflet??? I obviously meant Piglet. Way past my bedtime. (trying to adjust my body clock; fed up of going to sleep at 9 without my OH and waking up at 6 also without him Sad)

Oeisha · 30/08/2011 22:21

Ergh. Bro just phoned, so not made it to bed. Their 12wk scan's on Thurs... Grin. Mum's going baby-mental...one SIL in Oct, me Jan, other SIL in Mar...

Re: music. Yolkis is having plenty of me singing...mainly Slash's 'Slash' album, Metallica, Alice Cooper, G'n'R, Thunder...etc. etc.

...might try and finally fish out my CDs and get Yolkis into Bach too.

Righty, my tea's ready (tea with manuka that is) so I can go to bed a bit less congested hopefully! NNxxx

pigletmania · 30/08/2011 22:27

redheadbedhead · 30/08/2011 22:36
