!!

red, I noticed the exact same thing yesterday - I'm also red(ish), so I don't normally have a lot of hair other than on my head.

fishandlilacs · 28/08/2011 14:18

redhead yes to hairy belly, It's common and well known symptom.

I had one last time with dd and it's already started his time. DH used to call it my furry bee belly because I reminded him of a bumble bee all, round and furry.

shonnomanom · 28/08/2011 15:02

fala Im only getting some comfort when lying down but its not a fixer.
oiesha what a great website!
supa that sounds similar to the aches Iv been having. Iv also been having a clicking sound when walking coming from the pelvis. Will go and look it up..

Not heard of hairy belly in pregnancy before. Must make the application of stretchmark lotions and potions interesting..

shonnomanom · 28/08/2011 15:10

fish I just read on a few websites that we should avoid the breast stroke when swimming with SPD. Couldnt help but laugh thinking, well it worked for Fish! Smile
Apparently the clicking sound Iv been hearing is normal. I really must remember to speak with the MW about this.

fishandlilacs · 28/08/2011 15:42

shonna I just don't know if what I had was true SPD, it may just have been that dd was an almost 10lb baby and it was bloody hard work carrying her. I was diagnosed with spd at he time but I always found that crouching and stretching, breast stroke felt really good to me. It was loveley to stretch it all out.

Another friend of mine who shells babies like peas (3 labours, 1.15 mins, 45 mins, and 25 mins with her last-born in the bath at home midwife turned up in time to cut the cord) always said the same, she's a bit of a yoga officianado and always claimed that warrior pose was her best friend when she had SPD

I'm off to www.dancingforbirth.com/ class on friday, i'm really excited, it's just started in this area. I used to do belly dance so it will be great to get back to it.

shonnomanom · 28/08/2011 16:29

Oh crickey fish I thought I was doing good with 14hours and an 8lbs 10oz baby!!
Dd starts nursery next week so im planning on getting some proper swimming done whilst she's busy. Hopefully that will help a bit..

Enjoy your class, it looks fun!

Nanny01 · 28/08/2011 16:51

Yes I am hoping to do some aquanatal and pregnancy yoga classes as it I will have nobody at home next term ( first time in 12 yrs).

Nanny01 · 28/08/2011 16:52

redheadbedhead - yes hairy belly thing to, all places very annoyed.

Oeisha · 28/08/2011 17:06

I'm another furry belly! Grin Like furr rather than proper 'hair'. Though getting a darker 'treasure trail' from just below the rib cage all the way over bump and down to the bikini line isn't uncommon.
:D
Typically, they're giving aquanatal another go in this are, but have weirdly chosen 12:30 on a Thursday....just hoping it's still running in December. Have put in a request for an evening class but the woman looked at me like I was a moron...

fishandlilacs · 28/08/2011 17:42

Oiesha-Our only aquanatal class is 11am on a thursday morning too. It's really frustrating. I will only be working 2 hours a day and on a thursday it's 10-12!

supadupapupascupa · 28/08/2011 18:03

well redhead i'm glad you have a hairy tummy cos i'm still Envy about Tim Minchin!

So there!

Spagbolagain · 28/08/2011 18:29

Hi all. Re nappies we used itti bitti d'lish snap in ones for ds and loved them. Very slimline, very cute and easy to wash and dry.

GiraffeAHolic · 28/08/2011 19:21

Thanks for all the nappy advice, might order a few pre useds off eBay to see the differences before taking the plunge.

Yes yes yes to furry tummy, so glad it's not just me. I've heard it's more common when carrying a boy because of the male hormones but probably an old wives tale Smile

supadupapupascupa · 28/08/2011 19:22

giraffe they don't allow you to sell preloved nappies on ebay.......

clarde21 · 28/08/2011 20:17

Giraffe - re the reusable nappies I use Bumgenius V4 but am starting to branch out a bit as will need some more anyway when I have two in them. Just got a Itti bitti delish.

the site I use is www.fill-your-pants.com and you can try out cloth for £10. If you don't get on with them you just send them back after a month. For initial advice though the nappy lady was good.

also the nappy board on here is good, think its under products on the topic list.

fishandlilacs · 28/08/2011 22:12

I was lent a load of "one lifes" and i also tried totsbots, when DD1 was born. i tried, i really tried but simply did not get on with them and gave up after about a month. We had soo many leaks, no tumble drier, only storage heaters, it was a bloody nightmare. it's all the other washing they create from the leaks that did my head in-how many times i changed bed sheets i'll never know.

I used the biodegradable disposables instead.

ChocaMum · 28/08/2011 23:17

I'm glad other people have a furry belly and it's not just me Grin
I also have a trail from top of bump to bikini line. Had the same last time and the fur does shed at some point postnatally, just can't remember when that was as a bit of a blur after DD arrived in regards to anything to do with me!

ChocaMum · 28/08/2011 23:23

Also similar experience to fish regarding reusable nappies, all the extra washing not including the nappies was a nightmare for me with no tumble drier and DD being born in February so couldn't hang washing outside. I bought so many extra sheets, babygros etc but it was still a nightmare. And in the end it was dd's awful nappy rash that made us change to disposable which helped clear the rash up much quicker. I think a tumble drier is a must when going down the reusable route. Although it did make me think if it is actually more 'green' and cheaper when you add all the washing and drying and extra sheets/clothes you need. But clearly it works for lots of people so I obviously had a bad experience.

redheadbedhead · 29/08/2011 09:46
Grin

I was planning on doing the reusables, haven't got as far as which ones yet. But we don't have a tumble dryer, and as we all know the Piglet will be born in January, so maybe I'm being an idiot. I guess I will have to try it out and see if it turns me into a rabid psycho.

I started looking at this website a while ago then gave up for a bit when it felt too early to be making these decisions! Maybe one of you suggested it, can't remember now. Anyway, I liked the look of the shaped nappies, at least I think I did Confused

supadupapupascupa · 29/08/2011 10:14

some nappies are designed to dry quickly. We don't have a tumble drier and don't have a problem getting bum genius dry. I use the radiators for the inserts and airers for the outers.
I think tumble driers would ruin bumgenius in any case because of the plastic.
You jut have to make sure you buy enough nappies so that you have enough for a couple of days which gives you time to do the washing.
I buy for three days and wash every other day, which seems to work for me.

Nanny01 · 29/08/2011 10:47

Hi Every one I had a lovely surprise yesterday, my dh ordered a tumble dryer . There are 6 of us at present and I think he noticed his pregnant wife disappearing under mountains of wet washing. So now feeling less anxious about this winter. We haven't had one for several years as we seem to work our machines to death, this one is insured though so fingers crossed as we are having to repair the dishwasher tomorrow. I have got all my kids helping but know how much harder it will be after a day at school and every one will be super tiered.

redheadbedhead · 29/08/2011 11:07

Oh nice nanny, what a good husband. Smile

Oeisha · 29/08/2011 18:20

Argh! That's another thing to remember to buy. A condensing dryer (we have nowhere sensible to put an out vent). Not really a fan of them, but well, better than nowt as we're going to try to do the "real nappy" thing - and it rains ALL THE BLOODY TIME in Buxton - even had a hot water bottle in bed with us the last few days...what happened to summer? :(

For anyone that's not sure about cloth/real nappies, it's worth checking with your local authorities that they don't have trial packs/schemes. For example Derbyshire have a cashback scheme and a trial kit Derbyshire's stuff
Some areas even have nappy laundry services. Usually £10-20 for a weekly service. The goreal site has most of the info laundries Alas, my closest one's in Manchester.

I'm lucky, I have a SIL who's due in Sept...so hopefully by Jan, her LO will be out of the 0-3 nappies and I can have them! Hopefully.

Cold's comming on nicely. Very snotty, tired and fed up, though the headache's eased a little. Will be another early night. Hoping I'm feeling better by Wed...

fishandlilacs · 29/08/2011 18:58

brr-anyone else bloody cold? I'm freezing today.

Had a lovely picnic for DD1's birthday today, my little girl is 4!!
