And we're back......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Wormshuffler · 27/08/2011 08:48

Well it's definately facing me when in laid flat with the newborn liner thingy which turns it into a carrycot type thing, and facing forward now as I open it in push chair mode. The car seat will be facing me too. I'm told it can be rear facing in pushchair mode, although I havn't sussed out how to do it yet! It was a mega bargain bought from a friend of a friend who's husband used it to keep in his car as a spare, so it's hardly used! £50 quid with all the trimmings! I am going to get a new car seat though.

mummyzoe2012 · 27/08/2011 09:07

ive got about 10 days till my scan, so excited.

we had the builders out to mesure up for the fitted wadrobes lastnight and the kitchen extention, house is going to be amazing when the work is done, just hope its done in time for babas arrival.

redheadbedhead · 27/08/2011 09:09

sounds great, well done on an excellent cheap bargain! Grin do you know what make it is? and do you think it's heavy or light? (sorry for all rabid early morning buggy questions...)

redheadbedhead · 27/08/2011 09:12

ooops x-post, sorry mummyzoe - good luck with your house, we're going through similar building stuff to try and get a nursery by january.

ghosteditor · 27/08/2011 09:14

Redhead: your poor DH! Sounds ghastly.

Cakes: I spotted the baby jogger reviews just after my post on the Quinny so you might be on to something there! Much more reasonably priced too. I'll let you know if we head over to BabyWorld, but it sounds good so will add it to the list.

I'm still having really wacky dreams. really wacky. Was just rudely awakened by an unknown telephone call which came through on the house phone at exact time i'd set my alarm. Very confused bleary looking ghost now!

falabalamb · 27/08/2011 11:57

ghost, I think you can get a carrycot for the babyjogger too. They are very easy to push, my friend takes hers jogging and it works really well, also one hand fold is fab and the hood is lovely and big. For me it's got it all except the rear facing seat, I'd like to be able to have little one facing me when he's a toddler as well as a baby.

Wormshuffler, that sounds like a great bargain, well done.
Redhead, your poor DH, hope he's better soon, and he doesn't pass it on to you!!
Shonna, I think the cake went soggy because I froze it and defrosted it still wrapped in silver foil, that's my story anyway and I'm sticking to it :)
Just stopped myself buying a Bugaboo Gecko from ebay, went for £100 but my rash purchases on ebay never work out well so I'm glad common sense prevailed (for once!)
Am getting a bit cloth nappy obsessed, too many cute patterns and styles out there and got rid of my old ones after dd2 so feeling (a bit) justified in buying new ones.

Oeisha · 27/08/2011 12:31

Ello all

Gz on the scans guys!
Hope DH gets better soon redhead. I'm glad it's not you too. You're doing enough hard work baking a baby without being poorly-bad too.

Another viscious headache today(woke me up at 4am). Had to cancel another driving lesson :S Finally beginnning to feel a little better (hense the being out of bed) but it'll come back and that will delight Gizmo, who's desperate for me to go back to bed...

Wormshuffler · 27/08/2011 14:13

It's this one redhead.

Nanny01 · 27/08/2011 14:32

Redhead- poor you I hate dealing with vomit let alone when it is difficult to bend down.

falabalamb - I just bought a 15 pack of teenyfit tots bots from Tescos, they have loads reduced. I like the patterns but these white ones were a real bargain and each nappy had an extra booster to. There are so many more designs than 4 yrs ago when I used cloth with ds2. No pretty colours for me though as we are having a boy again.

Baby Jogger city min 4 wheeler with maybe the carry cot is something I looked at. I liked the new bee and the cameleon which is amazingly light weight for it's size. Have been trying to kepep my mind open as we won't be buying anything yet. Also thinking of the Britax Bmobile which you can use with the carrycot and car seat ( which has a really nice slim isofix base).

I am celebrating as I got my new winter maternity coat and jeans and top. Sadly ordered wrong size in slouch pants so they will be going back and ordered in the right size as I don't like anything tight. What are you ladies all wearing that is the most comfortable?
Good luck to all of you if you have building going on.

shonnomanom · 27/08/2011 15:17

Congratulations on your scans trubble and worm. Remember to update the list. there is a link further up the thread.

Red hope your OH is starting to feel better. My sis inlaw had the Graco Fusio both the carseat and the actually seat face both directs, its lightweight and easy to collapse as well.

Worm what a bargain, well done!

nanny tbh im most comfortable in my pj's, sadly cant where them to work Sad

Im in a lot of discomfort since coming home from the supermarket. My back is aching and my pelvis, I think, clicks when I walk. Really connot get comfy at all.

Hope everyone is well x

falabalamb · 27/08/2011 16:58

Oooh wormshuffler, that was my pushchair with dd2, really nice and worked brilliantly for 2 years until dh slammed the boot shut onto it and bent the chassis. Had to buy a cheapy buggy after that. It's so cosy when their newborn but not to heavy as they get older either, GREAT buy!!
Shonna, that's not good, is it better when you sit down? Ditto the PJ's :)
Nanny, that sounds good, I'll take a look. You're right, there is so much more available now. All my old ones were bought with dd1 5 years ago and the selection was far more limited. I'm quite excited about getting 'boy' patterns, after 2 girls it's a novelty!

Oeisha · 27/08/2011 17:01

shonnomanom I'm wiht you PJs. Ones that have anice cap sleeve else I end up strangling myslef of chafing my nipples when I wriggle about.

Thinking about getting some footed PJs so me and Yolkis can spend our early days as clothing twins. Footed PJs

I've slept a lot today. Helped a bit, though I now have the early indicators of a sore throat. No manuka in the house either....

fishandlilacs · 27/08/2011 18:15

Red i once mused over how many calories you can inhale in the icing sugar cloud, imagine if you were a sugar crafter-you could get fat just by breathing.

Sorry to hear of your hubby, i hope he improves soon. I can remember DH both having a nasty dose of D&V when dd was only about 7 months old. What a day that was. Both of us too ill to look after ourselves let alone a baby, and no one would come near us to help out for fear of catching it! Make you you wash and double wash those hands!

Oiesha the headahces sound crap, I have had one too today but getting out in the fresh air really helped, DD had a party at a farm park nearby and I had to take her not DH as he had stuff to do. I was dreading it but the headache has gone.

I'm secretly dreading tonight, DH's best friend is coming to stay the night, he's a bit hectic and since he got divorced 5 months ago is a bit of an egotistical PITA. His wife was a lovely woman and it always made it easier to be around him over the last few years. But now she left him ( I can see why) and although he's not intolerable and i don't dislike him, he's hard work. I can't stop DH from seeing him obviously and he's buying us a take away but i can see it's going to be an early night for me. Worse thing is he's also friends with another friend of DH's who lives up here also, and he's coming over too, they have recently returned from holiday together, you can guess what tonights topic of conversation is going to be..someone elses holiday. Gripping :)

GiraffeAHolic · 27/08/2011 20:14

Do we have any cloth nappy pros on the thread? I used disposables with dd but really want to try cloth with CheesyMonster-RainDrop (yes thanks to dd the baby has a name now!!) but don't have a clue where to start.

I think I want all-in-ones for ease when out and about but there are sooo many choices. I am not a domestic goddess by any stretch of the imagination so I'm guessing I'll need quite a few to see me through.

Any advice/tips/experiences would be most welcome please :)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 27/08/2011 20:38

falabalamb - I thought once they were toddlers they preferred to be outwards facing so they could see what was going on? I dunno - buggies are so confusing for me.

Met my Dsis's 'new' (3 months now) boyf today - what a sweetie and DH liked him too - result! Going to keep my fingers crossed for an engagement now - haven't seen her so happy and smitten before

Had some spottign again today - freaked me out cos it was quite heavy, but stopped quickly and DH poined out that it's a multiple of 4 again - 20 weeks. The last spotting was at 16 so it might just be the old cycle trying to kick in, but I had a horrid fright. Luckily bubs gave its auntie a kick earlier, so I know it's OK. She was pleased too :)

x

supadupapupascupa · 27/08/2011 20:51

giraffe i used bumgenius with DS1 for about 1 year and will use them again for the new baby.
i got all my info from here

mummyzoe2012 · 27/08/2011 22:21

well we got our pushchair today, we got the sola in black from our local mammas and pappas shop. Babas Grandma and Grandad bought it and we pick it up on the 10th december. soo exciting.

ParsleyLion1 · 28/08/2011 08:01

Morning all :)

Exhausting day yesterday, trolling around trying to choose appliances for the new extension. On the plus side also managed to put in more buggy/ bed research. Currently between the Quinny Buzz and Bugaboo Bee (the Quinny Buzz was rear facing in the shop).

Nanny01 Most comfy things I have are some "linen" trousers from Next. They've got the adjustable side panels so don't keep falling down. My jeans arrived yesterday so testing them out today :)

OP posts:
Oeisha · 28/08/2011 08:22

morning all.

Miffed today. I do indeed have a cold now. Headache's not gone and I feel rough. 6 day week here I come...(not 3 full days, 3 full).

Just have to not be a grumpy bitch all day. My 2 sections will inevitably have something go wrong on each (there's ALWAYS something the Saturday team thinks is ok to just pile on me)...and they'll both be incapable of sorting it out like adults. Happy happy, joy joy!

supadupapupascupa · 28/08/2011 08:57

to add to the grumpy mood.......
i am pretty sure I have PGP (pelvic girdle pain). I though it was sciatica, but having read up, this is what i think it is. Not confirmed by a doctor i might add, going to wait until my scan and ask the MW as she gave me the number for a physio but i need to now it is free before i call.
agony it is! like trapped nerves in the bottom of my spine, in my buttocks. it stops you lifting your legs and makes walking really difficult.
i only suffer after i've over done it, so lots of rest for me!

grrrrrrrrrrrr

is anyone else suffering from this?

Capybara · 28/08/2011 09:22

Hi everyone - it's good to be back! (have been having an ongoing work crisis, hence prolonged absence)

Supa, don't know about sciatica/PGP, but I've developed mid-back pain very suddenly in the last day or two, and it's not something I ordinarily suffer from. Seems to develop overnight? Certainly worse when I wake in the morning.

Otherwise, have suddenly started to feel movement over the course of the last week - very excited, as felt nothing before (now 19 wks +2) and was getting jealous of everyone on here who seems to have been feeling kicks for ages. Started the day this morning with a cappucino and pasteis de nata (aka custard pie) from the local coffee shop, kindly brought to my bedside by DH - that (caffeine plus sugar) really set him off! Might have to avoid that particular combo in future Blush

fishandlilacs · 28/08/2011 09:25

supa i'm suffereing with my back, hips and groin too. I utterly refuse to accept that it's SPD again, but it probably is. I had it last time.

I found ignoring the advice from the physio, doing yoga and breast stroke when swimming helped. Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional :)

redheadbedhead · 28/08/2011 09:28

oh you poor things with pain and sickness Sad I was just revelling with my OH in feeling well and normal after so long of feeling shitty. But I sympathise

(incidentally he is mow much better and has ceased vomiting. thank god. I had to remove myself from the house yesterday so I didn't vomit myself - the visual and audio reminders were too much too soon!!)

redheadbedhead · 28/08/2011 12:15

by the way.... weirdo question but has anyone else suddenly got a really hairy belly???? This is the strangest aspect of my pregnancy so far! It's furry!

I am not generally a hairy woman being a redhead, in fact I tend to lose hair rather than gain it. so any new hair is regarded with awe and wonder!

falabalamb · 28/08/2011 12:58

Makescakes, I like the idea of being able to turn them round and have a chat if we're going for a walk or if they're grumpy, even when they're older, but I suppose it's not essential :)
Giraffe, I used totsbots with dd1 and for most of the time with dd2 (got the info from the nappy lady too Supa, great service isn't it) but started using Bumdeal pocket nappies with dd2 towards the end as they dry more quickly. It's a bit of a minefield as there are just so many choices, until your baby's here you don't know what shape they're going to be, and it's such an investment. A good place to look is www.thenappysite.co.uk which sells second hand nappies, at least then you can try some out without spending loads of money!

Redhead no hair on tummy, well no more than normal!! Seem to be losing hair on my head at an alarming rate, the cats and I are molting Grin
