A new thread for the bus!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Wobbledoos · 08/08/2011 19:05

ooooooooh hello & thanks for the welcome!

i've already read a couple of the AIBU threads & thought errr.... Yes!! YABU!! and thought oooh hush up newbie ;) so I think i'll join in the not posting there lol. (for now!)

How am I feeling... tired, uncomfortable, sick - aching hips/pelvis/bump - I have gained 3 stone so far, am not doing as well as I had planned in the " I WILL exercise this pg" resolution - too ill/stressed/tired/achey/busy.... so guess I will just have to suck it up come D-Day & get back on with exercising. looking forward to that one. actually looking forward to being able to move/breathe easily again.

This is my 5th bubba. the eldest is 18, the youngest is just 4.

I'm not going to antenatal classes either - I went last time and the MW didn't like that I got so involved with pointing out things I didn't agree with ;) so didn't see the need to bother this time. I am planning a HB this time round, as long as bubba doesn't go overdue like last time, when I had to be induced.

is anyone doing any form of exercising? i started running last year, and loved it, and planned on continuing, but after a loss last year, was too scared early on this time round, and just haven't had the oomph to do anything past 12 weeks... and seems to be a bit pointless at this stage when i can hardly walk/breathe anyway!

bilblio · 08/08/2011 19:39

Cheshire Not quite Glossop, that's in Derbyshire (though I wish I was there.) I'm in Stalybridge.

I had a fun, but tiring weekend. Friday we went to a gig to see a friend, but I had to retreat to the bar for the other bands because bump was strongly objecting to the bass!
Saturday night DH was doing a set at a festival which was great fun. He was in a marquee and a well timed rainstorm meant he had the best audience of the night. :o
Then Sunday it was my 2 year old nephews birthday party.

All this going out is good fun but I'm exhausted. I'm also getting a lot of pain under my left rib, probably from kicks. I had it last time too but it seems much earlier this time. Sitting at my desk at work is very uncomfy.

BB3 Glad the midwife wasn't too concerned... now put your feet up and try to spend the next few weeks pointing a lot :o

Hello Wobbles, welcome to the thread. We have a stats thread too here

Wobbledoos · 08/08/2011 20:21

stats thread completed, thanks :)

Ferino · 08/08/2011 20:36

Hi all,
May I join in too, please?! Wobbles has inspired me to do my first post as well! I'm due on 15th October with my first baby. Starting to get a bit nervous now!

PenguinArmy · 08/08/2011 20:44

welcome ferino I looked at my notes today and that's when I'm due as well :)

Engelsmeisje · 08/08/2011 20:52

BB3 It's not that I don't appreciate my ILs enthusiasm, more that they SAY that they'll come over and help when in reality it'll be DP doing the work. I live in a house of half finished DIY projects. Everything is "on a list" (as I've started saying to PIL when they tell me that my kitchen/bathroom/garden needs doing!). I don't care if we have a new floor - I just want the baby room to be ready!

Wobbles I'm a runner too but was too nauseous to manage during the first trimester so I have written off my fitness for now. Have been trying to swim but our local pool doesn't have the most regular opening times, so am "making up for it "with a day at the spa this week for a pregnancy massage and a pedicure (I'd like pretty feet for the wedding, but am having trouble touching my toes right now!).

Everyone here keeps telling me to get my bike out (I live in Holland) but my mum is horrified at the idea. Even going up the stairs feels like a challenge at the moment - I'm not used to all these limitations on my body!

PenguinArmy · 08/08/2011 21:24

I have trapped nerve issues in pg so running for me stopped both times at the end of 1T. There isn't a climbing wall here so that's probably it for now. We'll be moving (hopefully) in a few weeks again anyway so exercise is a bit tricky. Besides I did loads of walking on our epic road trip.

My PFs won't take anything with impact now either.

PenguinArmy · 08/08/2011 21:27

we suffer from the ILs helping, when in reality it's them dicating what time they come to take DD out while we do the cleaning etc or at a time where I then can't do what I want. i wouldn't mind if we didn't have play the pretend game. Just say you're coming for her, you're not helping us.

(sorry rant over)

BB3 · 09/08/2011 07:44

engels just the enthusiasm of putting on it on a list would be a step up from where we are!!

Hi Ferino welcome to the bus - how exciting, do you know what colour you are having? And Wobbles?

Wow Wobbles 5th baby! You're a pro!! I only have one little boy and then these two on the way and I'm worried about coping with three kids!

I'm not even going to START with my IL's it will ruin my perfectly good mood! Grin

Hope everyone is safe and far away from all the rioting - I am very glad that I am working from home now although have to go up to London for work on Friday but hoping the day time is relatively calm. Does make you truly ashamed of our country - like there isn't enough going on with wars and failing economies, we have to start causing trouble on our own doorsteps! Angry anyway rant over!!!

BB3 · 09/08/2011 07:48

Oh bilbio we ended up in the campest club in Brighton (drag queens the lot) on Saturday at the hen weekend and these babies hated it. They went from being really active to suddenly shockingly still. I just pictured them sat in there covering their ears while Wham and Kim Wilde went on in the background!!!

cheekydino · 09/08/2011 08:29

Well, what a horrible few days. Spent all of sunday night at casualty with ds who woke up screaming in agony with high temp at midnight Sad . Turns out to be mysterious unexplained pain that wasn't the kidney infection we thought but nothing they could identify, so we were sent away feeling a bit Blush. Spent the day watching shrek on the sofa as he was too hyped to sleep much when we got home! And now all this rioting which is getting a bit too close to where we live in London. Selfish greedy thugs making life scary for families. Brings out the judgmental side of me - found myself hoping they all set themselves on fire by accident when watching the news. No great loss to society.

Welcome to the new passengers, and congrats on your bumps!

Right, my tasks for the day are to reseal the bath and sort out some clothes for the baby. Hope you all have more exciting days planned!

cheekydino · 09/08/2011 08:31

BB3- your babies were obviously quiet as they were enjoying the fab music!! Can't beat a bit of 80s cheese Grin

Wobbledoos · 09/08/2011 09:39

morning all :)

nowt wrong with a bit of Wham lol! I still say I could turn George... just feel a bit of a weirdo nowadays when I actually say it out loud, and I see a picture of him and think "actually... I think i'll leave it!" ;)

we are having a boy - i have 3 boys & 1 girl so far. my dd was rather unimpressed at a blue bump, she says she is outnumbered! however at almost 12 yrs old i don't think that'll bother her much longer. and tbh after the mc last year & the traumatic start of this pregnancy, we just feel grateful to be having a healthy baby. and boys are soooooooooo much easier!

my inlaws are maaaaaarvellous! they live in spain so we rarely see them. i am lucky.... actually, we do miss them, we have no family nearby us & we are very antisocial so very few friends, so a non-existent social life... good job we like each other's company!

am sitting here watching the news (the 4 y/o has let me have the tv for a minute!) and cannot believe the state of things. shocking :(

Happy Tuesday everyone anyway. Today I am making a birthday cake for a friend's hubby (my new business venture), and going to a "business meeting" to get my business plan approved for a grant from our local council for aforementioned venture!

and the weather here is miserable.

Just had a odd MW check-up. Am measuring 26 at 30 weeks which is a bit smaller than I thought I would but he has decided to visit my ribs today so that explains it. Still is on more than the slightly small side. then she took some blood, put the needle in and couldn't get any blood out for ages. Anti-D isn't until next week now which is 1 day short of the time frame. Now have to register as a vistor with as I need to be in the system somewhere in order for blood test results to be transferred.

BB3 · 09/08/2011 12:43

Wobbles sorry to hear you had a traumatic start - still you've got through it all!

Cheeky how is DS now? What a horrible thing - nothing fills me with dread more than DS being really hurt or sick. I often become a bit irrational with worry about it for no good reason. I know he will end up breaking bones soon the amount of running and jumping he does but I just can't think about him being hurt - last summer he was taken to hospital while on holiday with a viral infection and temp of 41. I was in bits and rung up a £400 phone bill crying to my mum on the phone and don't think I slept for 4 days until he was back to his old self.

Oh I love a bit of cheese, was gutted as by that point we had been out for a while and I was knackered and just couldn't do the dancing like the other girls but was so much fun bopping along on my chair to Debbie Harrie. I don't know, I think they might not have my love of cheese in them!!

Penguin good luck with the calls.

BBx

PenguinArmy · 09/08/2011 14:34

I have been so lucky with DD and illness that I'm dreading her having a proper bad illness. I am now just registered at the GP here as apparently I only temporarily register for 14 days. Hopefully that will go through the system before I then re-register in Oxford. I think they thought we were looking to buy a house as they were like 'oh it will be a few months then' I fucking hope not

sorry wobbles I didn't say hi to you (as others had already so I forgot). I'm the eldest of 5 so I think I'll stick at 2 Grin (although DH currently has other ideas)

LittlePebble · 09/08/2011 15:32

Hi all, welcome to the bus wobbles and ferino.

Penguin was the mw worried about the measurement or was it simply due to position of baby? Hope everything is ok.

I've been sent home sick. I cannot shift sore throat, have had barely any sleep for the last four nights and generally feeling rubbish. We've been told my grandmother only has a few days left and we've had to move her to a nursing home for 24 hour care so have been dealing with all that as well as peak season at work. No wonder I can't shift this bug.
I suppose on the plus side at least I'm getting some practise in sleepless nights....
Hmm [pulls duvet over head to try and get some sleep]

PenguinArmy · 09/08/2011 15:47

:(

she was a little worried but was happy with the other results and I think just see how it goes. He was really active and HB was fine plus I have a history of measuring small (and I am small at 5'1), I think she was more confused by the non-blood. i will measure myself when pops down again and see if it is more in-line with what I would expect.

SconesForTea · 09/08/2011 15:51

Hi Wobble and ferino

PA are you having any follow-up re size of bump? I had heard that you are scanned if it is 4cm out either way... Perhaps it depends what area you're in though. And DD is small isn't she so perhaps you just have small babies!

Glad DS is OK cheeky

Get well soon Pebble

Engels I'm still cycling (14 miles on Sunday - mind you I was knackered yesterday) and lots of people seem either bemused or horrified by it. I see it as another good reason to eat lots of cake Grin

PenguinArmy · 09/08/2011 16:00

you know I didn't even think to ask when I should go for another check-up Blush It's hard as I don't know how long I will be here for. they will phone with the blood results I think and I have anti-D jab next friday. Don't know if that's just a jab or if they do check-up stuff as well Confused. I'll ask then. I think my whole situation threw her tbh and caught her off guard. like you 4cm short at only 30 weeks was beyond by expectations as well.

scones I have you know DD is in some 6/9-12 months stuff now Grin (for others she is 17 months)

Wobbledoos · 10/08/2011 13:30

scones i fell off my bike with LO on the back early on - it made me scared of going on it again... so bought an exercise bike... think i've managed 20 mins on that.

i've just finished my rugby cake. feels like i've been at it for days, my ankles are like balloons! still, it's gorgeous, so i'm happy :) hope customer is too.

Does anyone have any names sorted yet? we just cannot agree. this baby has been Bert since conception, which i'd love to keep, but DH detests it. Our youngest was Eric all through pg til we found out he was a boy, then he became Zac... yet we've known Bert is a boy since we were 13 weeks, so shocking that we can't decide on a name for him!

another grey miserable day here. don'tcha just love summer holidays??!!

x

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 10/08/2011 15:31

Here too wobble it's pouring down.
I'm having a girl and she'll be mhairi. Already have a DS called Christopher. We would have been really stuck if this was another boy.
Before we knew I liked Matthew and sebastion DH hated them both(admittedly I don't think we're rich/posh enough to pull off sebastion)

emmazed · 10/08/2011 16:28

Hi Wobble and ferino

i am 32 weeks and am feeling really tired now. it maybe because i have a bad cold, off monday and tues, and working from home today which is bliss.

i saw a doctor yesterday and he said to increase my iron tablets to 2 a day (rather than one). hope that stops me being so tired. is anyone else on iron?

we had a big bbq at ours over the weekend just as my cold was starting and i just felt overwhelmed with how much i needed to do to play host, and how little energy i had. i usually love having people over - i dont think i will do that again for some time!

our nursery is starting to get sorted - the amount of junk in there is slowly reducing, but still have a long way to go. it was painted and carpeted when we moved in 2 years ago in neutral colours. i am thinking about getting removable stickers for there, instead of wallpapering. i really want to get it done soon but my DH and i are so busy at the moment that the little time off we have we just want to spend with each other.

i am away with work next week and the week after which i am quite nervous about - how i will manage to run things when i am so tired? fingers crossed it goes ok.

CheshireDing · 10/08/2011 18:31

Ah I know Stalyvegas Bilb :)

I am looking forward to this year being able to go to the Christmas Markets in town in the DAYTIME, that will be a novelty. Although I don't know if it's illegal to be in charge of a baby whilst drinking mulled wine.

Wobbles I was doing Bodypump and swimming before I got pregnant, had to stop the Bodypump because the weights are very heavy and you do a lot of squatting and lying on your back with the weight above you so it's not really suitable when you are pregnant. However I have kept up the swimming and have been doing arm weights at the gym, it's not of the same amount though and I looked in the mirror yesterday and saw dimples on my ass and thighs. Devastated! (and grossed out).

I feel super tired at the moment too Emma :( I was thinking only yesterday that I cannot imagine feeling this tired for another 7 weeks until I finish work as I imagine it will only get worse. Plough on we must though because if I finished sooner I would have to go back sooner next year :(

Is anyone else sick of sleeping on their left hand side, my hip has started to ache a couple of times because it's hard going sleeping all night on that side or on my front (at a funny angle)

PenguinArmy · 10/08/2011 20:15

I don't pay any attention to how I sleep. I figure if my body doesn't like my right side or being on my front it will tell me to move.

I do remember this stage feeling the most pg last time. Then the last 6 weeks you start getting you're nesting energy. I was due end of Feb and basically had a month off work mid Dec to mid Jan.
