We still need to evict our computer/office stuff from the "Nursery". Currently wishing I lived in an 8 bed mansion so everyone could have a bedroom (computer, dog, cat, us, Porgey) but then I am always wishing for the 8 bed mansion! Grin.

Our house is pretty much painted white everywhere anyway and was re-painted in June so it's just a case of erecting the furniture and washing clothes and stuff. At first I too thought it would be okay for Porgey to share our wardrobe for it's clothes, it's a walk-in robe so plenty of room. However now we have all sorts of baby tat, nappies, at least 40 items of clothing, monitor etc I have gone off that idea and wanted it to have it's own wardrobe etc.

I think the furniture should be delivered beginning of September and our pram/moses basket etc end of August so this gives us time to move the office and then wash the clothes ready for furniture erecting - which I def will not be getting involved in, def DH job :)

I have held off washing the clothes for now because I figure it might as well wait until I can hang them freshly in it's wardrobe and it's own chest of drawers rather than scrunched up either in bags or hung in our wardrobe.

Plus I think if the nursery is nice and finished it must be better to sit in their with the baby sometimes, especially in the middle of the night doing a feed.

It's our 3rd wedding anniversary on Monday so DH and I are off out tonight for a lovely meal - gutted that I won't be having any bubbly this year though :(

Dreamfeeding - Feeding the baby when it's asleep e.g. on your way to bed so that you hopefully get a good stretch before the first waking.

Can be done with either BF or bottle and some people do wake the babies up. If they are in deep sleep you normally need to rouse them a bit but should be able avoid fully or they'll be asleep by end of feed.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 05/08/2011 20:16

Yep what PA said I used to feed DS at around 11pm when I was on my way to bed meaning I would usually get to sleep till about 5ish before he woke again, he never woke for his, plus if your BFing I've heard this releases hormones anyway so when ur done it's easier to drop off yourself right after a feed.

LittlePebble · 06/08/2011 07:52

That sounds great will definitely try it. A friend of mine does a similar thing with taking her toddler to the toilet while he's sleeping.
Off to work this morning with horrible sore throat, had to work from home yesterday as felt so rough. Longing for a strepsil but no such luck Sad

PenguinArmy · 06/08/2011 07:56

Grin I like how I said first waking and Edward 5am. It's OK because that's how Nigel will be Grin

bilblio · 07/08/2011 00:19

Our dreamfeeds with DD were more that I was virtually asleep :) I would feed her at 8, we'd both go to sleep but dh would keep her downstairs and entertain her if she woke. At 11 he'd change her and bring her up to me I'd feed her again and we'd both sleep again. They were the only feeds we actually aimed for set times on, all the others were demand feeding. It worked brilliantly for us, and it meant I got a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. After a few weeks I wad less tired so didn't always go to bed at 8, but we kept up the 11 o'clock feed for ages until eventually she slept through then a while after we dropped that feed too.

Morning all

Hope you all had lovely weekends! Wow Monday is here again but still another week closer to baby time!

We have made SOME progress on the nursery front - junk is being cleared this week, bulk of furniture put in there next week and wallpaper (on one wall only) is going up week after next so I am hoping this will all be done before these two arrive but who knows!!!

had a bit of a scare last night and I thought I might have gone into labour! Shock. I ave been having period pains on and off for a week and been feeling crampy all weekend and then got up from the sofa last night and had horrendous BH in my tummy and all down the top of my legs. (Sorry if TMI for the next bit) - it felt like I could feel one of the babies head between my legs, almost like it was pushing down and I was dragging my cervix around - DH had to literally carry me to the bathroom and upstairs. It died off after about 10 minutes so clearly no babies BUT I am going to speak to my midwife at my 31 week appointment today as I did cack myself ever so slightly and I've never had a BH like that before. Also over the weekend (and again for TMI) the discharge has ramped up to a whole new level. Have had a lot throughout the pregnancy but Saturday and Sunday I kept thinking I had wet myself and then would go to the bathroom to find my underwear coated in white (Not flemmy like show though). So want to ask her about that as well. At the moment I am just going to have to wear liners to protect my underwear a bit!!

All of the above, may be because I have overdone it at the weekend with the hen weekend (although I didn't participate in all that much of it for obvious reasons), but IF it is, I will be sat on the sofa for the next 6 weeks until these babies arrive!

Also had a bit of a duh moment when I realised at the weekend that I had thrown myself forward a week and in my head was 31+X last week when in fact I was 30+! Duh!!!

Anyway, sorry for the me post, hope everyone is ok today xxx

BB3 · 08/08/2011 07:26

Oh and on dream feeds, DS was having NONE of it so we were never able to introduce that but I would have loved too! Although to be fair I was never awake at 11pm I was normally off in the land of nod by 9 most nights!!!

Engelsmeisje · 08/08/2011 08:25

Hi everyone,

Have been away from the thread for a while: been on holiday and have been busy sorting out all the last minute bits for the wedding (one week to go!).

Nursery has finally got off the ground but as well as smoothing out one of the walls, DP has decided that he wants to replace the flooring as it squeaks...was trying to dissuade him as I want it finished as soon as possible so I can relax a bit, but BIL and SIL agreed with him that it would be a good idea (it WILL look and sound better)...Thanks ILs!

Anyone else had pain at the top of their bump? Feels like my muscles stretching and groaning, always worse after I've actually had to do something (like clearing my jungle of a garden!).

PenguinArmy · 08/08/2011 08:49

How exciting Engels

I get stitch like pains if I do things too intensely, but as long as I get the pace right I can do a lot.

ILs: well I've just come back from 2 days with them so am much more :). they gave DD a fruitshoot and I thought of MN and just cracked up Grin

mpops · 08/08/2011 10:37

Hello new thread! Just wanted to come and wave at everyone and catch up after nearly two weeks of Other Stuff.

BB3, sorry to hear about your scare but glad you're OK.

Had a bit of a scare last week as well: high blood pressure, protein in urine and swelling - got sent to maternity unit at the hospital, two bouts of 5-hour monitoring, now things seem to be going better. Phew. I've been having childbirth dreams too. Really weird ones but not scary...

Anyway, hello again and good to luck to us for the final couple of months.

BB3 · 08/08/2011 10:40

Engels can you send your DH/in laws over to mine so some of their enthusiasm will rub off on my DH and family!?!?!

I think the stretching pains are normal - i had lots of them around the six month mark with these two all over my bump but now it's mostly at the bottom and period / cramping pains rather than stretching as such.

penguin shhh I have fruit shoots in my fridge for my younger family members and DS will steal them from time to time!!! Every time I have one I get a shudder of MN guilt!!! Grin

BB3 · 08/08/2011 10:44

mpops glad things are going better now - did they give you the all clear? make sure you get lots of rest.

rebelwithoutababy · 08/08/2011 11:34

Ooh, snap on the labour dreams, mpops! Also had really real dream the other day where I wasn't married or pregnant but going out with an ex...took me ages to work out what was going on when I woke up with a big tummy kicking me next to my DH!!
Glad mpops and BB3 feeling better now - think we all need to make sure we are slowing pace down as much as poss...I can't wait for mat leave...7 weeks to go, but I have told myself if I get everything done by 6 weeks, I'm allowed to stop then!! It's supposed to motivate me, but not really working yet!
Hugs to all xx

SconesForTea · 08/08/2011 14:01

Hi everyone, thanks for the new thread happy

mpops glad you're ok, BB3 I hope your MW has set your mind at rest (it does sound odd).

Nurseries - oh, sooooooooo much easier to get them ready now, than when the babies are here! Do, do, do finish them now. We have cleared most of our junk out of DD's new bedroom (newbaby will move into the nursery and she will move into what was the study/spare room) and my mum and I spent last week decorating it. Now DH says he needs to move round some plug sockets before we can move the furniture back from where it's stacked in the middle of the room I'm sure he's right but I just want to get on with it! We still have to get her bedroom furniture like chest of drawers, as hers will pass to newbaby. As for getting down baby clothes from the loft - I expect I'll be doing that at 39 weeks (or rather DH will). Convinced this baby will be a fortnight late as DD was.

I didn't do a dreamfeed with DD. Mind you she has only just started sleeping through at nearly 18m, and that only intermittently. So maybe I'll do things differently this time Hmm I'm not sure I can go through the sleep deprivation again.

SconesForTea · 08/08/2011 14:05

Oh bilblio I'm not going to AN classes this time, and MW has not offered them either. We had started atending by this gestation last time. And they were rubbish tbh.

And Cheshire you have a glass of bubbly tonight, one really will not hurt!

BB3 · 08/08/2011 14:23

Oooh yeah me neither on AN classes. I did two with DS and thought they were horrendous - so definitely not doing them this time especially as I have very limited control over what will actually happen on the day!!!

MW was great. She seemed a bit concerned initially and gave me a little telling off for not calling labour ward last night but said she thinks it's just a false alarm. Her theory is it may be that the placenta has shifted and twin one has engaged but it happened quickly so the shock started off the contractions but obviously she can't be sure without a scan. I also have ++ sugar in urine so she wants me to monitor everything and then at my 32 weeks scan next week go through everything with my consultant post the scan and get urine tested again. I don't have a wee infection which could have caused it which is good and she heard both heartbeats so all good there. She is not worried about the discharge as such as long as it doesn't have any fluids in it so I am to monitor that too!

Scones DS is 2 and just sleeping through!!!

PenguinArmy · 08/08/2011 14:30

BB3 I'm glad you're MW was so reassuring.

i don't feel the need for AN classes but am a bit sad that I won't have that weekly NCT meet with a group that have all given birth at the same time (in addition to the bumps and babies group that I went to - I needed a thing to do everyday).

PenguinArmy · 08/08/2011 14:32

Blooming marvellous have just been brought out by mothercare so I won't be able to get the nursing tops I got along with so well.

PenguinArmy · 08/08/2011 14:46

last one, I promise

i ruined a few tops with lanisoh, so you might want some second hand/cheap ones until you don't need to use that anymore. I never did find out how to get it off. Same for those shinier material tops (that I got from stinky mothercare for the sake of having something - they were relatively smart tops as well), any bit of leaking shows and can also be difficult to get rid off. For me it was the post feed dribbles in the time it took to do myself back up again or if DD spilt some.

Wobbledoos · 08/08/2011 16:25

Hi can I hop on your bus pls?

I'm a new poster to mn so be gentle, I've heard scary things!

Today I'm 31+1, have tried reading this whole thread, but heartburn and wee trips are stopping me. That and being on mobile access (too small to read without feeling sick lol) with hubby and the other kids being demanding.... roll on back to school!

Do you have introductory threads here or is it just one big October yap? Please don't hesitate to fill me in on mn etiquette!

Look forward to sharing these last few (seemingly never-ending!) weeks with you all.

Wobbles x

BB3 · 08/08/2011 17:42

Thanks penguin and you're right about tops I ruined so many - avoid black like the plague as you end up covered in baby spit! From memory I just went and bought a whole heap of vests, shirts and t's from H&m that I wore with my early mat jeans and then other jeans when I finally fit back in them and just threw away afterwards.

Oooh shame about bloomin marvellous - maybe a shopping spree now before stock changes over?!?!

Welcome wobbles how you feeling? How many other kids do you have? Ah MN is not nearly as scary as they say - just stay away from the AIBU threads - I've been on here since I found out I was pg with DS almost three years ago and while I like to read them I've never ever posted on an AIBU thread as they are SCARY!!! Not long to go now. I tend to stay in the warm and coziness of my ante and post natal threads! Grin

CheshireDing · 08/08/2011 17:44

Welcome Wobbles

My first baby is due on 12th October and I am still deluding myself with nothing scary is going to happen.

Porgey (as it is known) will just pop out. I have 2 seasons of Desperate Housewives which I have missed and so will catch up on whilst popping said baby out Grin

CheshireDing · 08/08/2011 17:47

Bilblio is Tameside, Cheshire sort of the Glossop way then?

happymummytobe · 08/08/2011 17:56

Welcome wobbles!

Our little baby will be in our bedroom initially and then sharing with my DSD (4) who has the smallest bedroom ever! It really is tiny, but she's so excited about him sharing her room and has offered all her toys for him to play with as well. She's amazing Smile

mpops and BB3 - glad all is ok. Hope you're both having a restful day!

I'm feeling very achy now and my pelvis and hips really ache at night. Torn between feeling like I literally can't WAIT to meet my baby and being completely in denial that I'm going to have a real baby to look after full time. And he'll be mine! Golly!
