A new thread for the bus!

pebble I shall try rocking on all fours...that doesn't sound too strenuous and it might be quite relaxing...as well as aiding LO to change position

penelope my friends want to throw me a baby shower..but im not too sure about it because.. I don't want people to feel obliged to give me presents. It would be nice to have some time with my friends before LO is born though!

I didn't sleep very well last night....had a lot of pain in my lower back but it has subsided now..don't want to go into labour yet at 36+1...

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 12:26

Bubalie I would suggest packing the sleep suits with feet in as it is october...but just in case its warmer pack a few without! I think hospitals like the babies to have a hat, especially in the winter, so that's a must. Also perhaps take a couple of sizes just in case your babies bigger or smaller than anticipated!

rebelwithoutababy · 07/09/2011 13:21

oh god, really don't think I can do another two weeks of work! Am so distracted by baby thoughts, and last night's hypnobirthing class just made me want to be zen and relaxed for next 4 1/2 weeks, instead of commuting to and and from work every day.

Scheherezade · 07/09/2011 14:03

Am absolutely exhausted. Acid reflux is so bad it's waking me up at night and I can't lie down at all :( Completely over strained myself last night - stupidly offerd to d omucking out of a horse, and cartted a load of heavy boxes about. What with me having SPD, this was not a good idea. It hurt then, am crippled now!

aaaaarrghhhhhhhhhh. I hate being pregnant!

35 weeks today!

Bubalie · 07/09/2011 14:21

Thank you for the advice regarding sleepsuits and what to take in, I have packed 3 of them with long sleeves and feet and 1 with long sleeves no feet and 4 bodysuits with short sleeves just in case they need to go under. Have packed 2 hats, mittens, pair of socks, muslin cloth, 9 nappies, some cotton wool, nappy bags, little pot of sudocrem, baby wipes (although not sure if I will use), a small cellular blanket and the velour all in one for taking the baby home in. Have I forgotten anything?

This is just a baby bag, mine had been packed for a couple of weeks now and now I can't fit anything else anywhere, so i think i may have to have a separate carrier bag and keep it in the car with my clothes for going home in. Have you all packed your bags?

sassy and bumpsadaisie thank you for the advice regarding how to know if the baby is too warm, I have no idea and am totally clueless, so it's really useful to know where to feel and know if they are too hot.

leo I only got clothes in newborn size, and most of them say it fits from 6-10lb you made me worried now, should I go and buy some 0-3 just in case?

I'm chilling this afternoon, finished my ironing, so feel I deserve to rest for couple of hours! :)

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 14:32

I have bought some 0-3 because I know some people who had big babies over 9lb who didn't fit in newborn size...but I think it depends from shop to shop...so you might want to purchase a couple just in case!

I have packed babies bag, but not mine except things I wont be using before baby comes along, like I bought shampoo, toothbrush, breast pads, maternity towels, disposable knickers, maternity nighties so if any emergency came along I have the essentials!

Bubalie · 07/09/2011 14:38

Thanks Leo will go and pick up some 0-3 when next out, at the end of the day they will not go to waste if too big I can use them later. I think i made a bit of a mistake as have bought everything in nb size and i have a LOT!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 07/09/2011 14:40

bubalie there's a deal on bambino direct website for £487 for pushchair, carrycot carseat and footmuff.
If you're def buying from boots then make sure you're registered for parenting club as you might get double points on it. Advantage points add up really quickly when you're buying nappies all the time and you get dbl points on loads of baby stuff when you're registered.

Am now really worried about mat leave as I'm finding it a real struggle entertaining DS when I'm not v fit. 2 working days left then onto potty training!

34+2 today

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 07/09/2011 14:47

I have bought 1 pack vests and 1 babygro in Nb size as DS was 9lb 4oz and was only in Nb for 1 or 2 weeks max! And they say babies tend to get bigger with each pregnancy.

I haven't packed any bags yet but I do have all my toiletries laid out ready to chuck in.

Will pack bags next week, build furniture etc at the weekend.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 07/09/2011 14:53

I very rarely used babygros with no feet for DS and he was a may baby, but I have a weird thing about feet and always need to have them covered, I have now passed this on to DS who insists on having socks on all the time now.

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 15:31

I thought in the summer babies would get to hot in babygros with feet in? Am I wrong?

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 15:35

bubalie you are definitely going to be kicking yourself if you have a big baby....maybe u might be able to exchange some things for a bigger size if LO doesn't get to wear them? That is why I didn't find out the sex of the baby because I didn't want to buy too many clothes only for LO not to wear them...but then again if you're changing the LO all the time all the stuff might get worn!

CheshireDing · 07/09/2011 15:36

Leo I still have 3 weeks left at work, booohhhh! ::

Scheherezade I cannot believe you agreed to muck out, you are mad! It's hard work without being pregnant even if you do it ever day. I take my hat off too you.

Bubalie just to throw another spanner in your works (so to speak), my hairdresser told me the other week that because the NB clothes say 7-9lbs (for example) then if the baby is 7lbs they are a bit big and not as snug.

As Porgey has been calculated to be around 7-8lb when born I am now going to get maybe 2 outfits in these smaller sizes, just so we have them and then hopefully it will just grow in to the rest so that will last a bit longer. I know it's all a bit of guess-ing really on the size of it in the end, especially if it ends up overdue.

At my MW appointment this afternoon she said Porgey's head was engaged a bit but not completely, so I guess it's just heading that way at the moment. She also said I have SPD, which sounds lovely when she told me it's the separating of the pelvic bone Hmm! However least that means I know why I keep getting sharp pains in my lady bits.

Edward please can you pop over and build my furniture, it's coming on Saturday, hope that's ok Wink

One birth pool and a moses basket delivered today :)

35 weeks today

sassy34264 · 07/09/2011 15:36

buballe 'just incase they need to go under'
not sure if ive misunderstood this, but you will definately need a vest to go under sleepsuits. (sorry if i have read it wrong)
they really help to keep nappies on too!
edward ive never seen footless ones! i dont quite get why they would be? non slip maybe, but surely you would only start making them in sizes for babies who are walking- puzzled!

i have promised my nagging persistant mother, that i will have my bag packed by the end of this weekend. you wouldnt think i was close to 40!

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 15:42

Cheshire I thought working up to 37 weeks is tough..but 38 ...you must be mad! are you on your feet all day?

Sassy my baby has club foot and if they are really bad the baby will not be able to wear any sleepsuits with feet...so I've had to buy footless ones for that reason...Although from the scans they say it could be very slight!

sassy34264 · 07/09/2011 15:54

crossed post with leo and cheshire
leo i have what i call summer sleepsuits- with short arms and short legs. is this what everyone means? i was thinking they are just normal sleepsuits with no feet.????
i always associate that idea with (not really any way to say this without it sounding awful, but dont mean it in that way) a lower class of person who cuts the feet off themselves when the sleepsuit gets too small and they'd rather not spend more money on the next size. reason i think thst is cos my uncle told us a story years ago about a woman he arrested (hes police, she was druggie) and he had to take the baby. he had the hindsight to look for a few sleepsuits, nappies, toys etc and said all the sleepsuits where to small and she had just cut the feet out. sorry i digress!
cheshire i feel for you all who are still working. im lucky enough not to have worked since i got pregnant with twins. (well i think im lucky, i know some women love their work) but i can barely summon up the energy to get dressed at the minute.
said to dp in bed at the weekend, ive had enough now. im on countdown and just feel like im chalking off the days! i have been pregnant forEVER.

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 15:59

Well there are summer sleepsuits with no feet which is what I was referring too ..when I said babies will get too hot in the summer! But I have managed to get my hands on sleepsuits that are for the winter with no feet with long arms and legs and slightly elasticated around the bottom so no cold air can get in and I have specifically bought them in case baby can't wear sleepsuits with feet! I would in no way cut off the sleepsuits feet if they were too small! that is quite appalling in my mind!

sassy34264 · 07/09/2011 15:59

oh leo never would have thought of that. sorry to hear that. hope it is only slight. i was born with something wrong with my hips and had to have one of those cast things on, both legs and then a stick through the middle. they told my mum that they might have to break them at first! but luckily they didnt need to. they obsess over this when im on maternity with newborns. because its in my notes. i thought they would snap twins in half with all the pushing tugging and stretching!

sassy34264 · 07/09/2011 16:03

well you learn something new every day. ive never seen any like that. you must be shopping more high class than me- cos ive never seen them in tesco! Wink

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 16:04

That doesn't sound very nice at all Sassy!! :O

Leo4 · 07/09/2011 16:05

erm tk max

Bubalie · 07/09/2011 16:06

OMG people - i am totally confused now as i think I might have bought all the wrong things. I got all the 'footless' ones from Pumpkin Patch, they are proper sleepsuits with sleeves/short sleeves, just have no feet, so I assumed you put them on with little socks (but someone has mentioned that the socks are not a good idea as baby's kick them off) - so maybe those are waste of space. I also have lots of little short sleeved body suits (so no legs or feet) is that what you would put under the main long sleeved body suit? That's what I 'assumed' but not sure now? I have a few of those with long sleeves/no sleeves too.

Edward thank you for recommendation for buggy special deal - will look at it now, although I didn't really want a carry cot, just buggy and car seat.. I think on Boots as I am registered for parenting club, I get 20% off plus abot £55 worth of points, so have been unable to beat that deal so far.

Leo too late for returning any as i have unpacked and washed everything on Monday! I am laughing at myself now - 35 first time mum and totally clueless! :)

Cheshire I'd rather the clothes are too big so LO can wear for a few weeks than them being too small and i have a LOT. And, congratulations on being at least a little engaged, I have mw appointment tomorrow so will be interesting to see if we have made any progress...

sassy34264 · 07/09/2011 16:07

ha, told you! i wouldnt spend £12 on 3 sleepsuits in a pack, nevermind 1! its cos im scrooge the mother of 4 kids and cant afford to. Smile

Bubalie · 07/09/2011 16:10

Leo yessss that's it the ones with no feet from your link! Thank God i'm not the only one :)
