BB3 - so sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Have some stern words with Baby1... I do it with bump all the time, it does no use but it does make me feel better. You need to be putting your feet up not trekking to the hospital every day... but at least they're happy everything is okay and they're not making you stay in for enforced rest. That's my worst fear!

And yes, my friend did say that... I've been so tempted to remind her of it during her pregnancies, but she'd just deny it.

My lazy Sunday is a child free one. It involves listing lots of things on ebay. I'm on a money making mission in the hope I can set up a little business while I'm on maternity leave so I can don't have to go back to one of my jobs.
I'm also planning on making lots of thankyou cards and birthday cards to top up my stash. I hate buying cards, but I know I'll not manage to get any made next year.

BB3 · 21/08/2011 11:55

Bilblio - I am child free for an about an hour in which I am enjoying catching up on line as opposed to doing the ironing htat is staring at me from the dining room table!!

I have had stern words with twin one and there is a bit more movement today. I wonder if it is on a different time scale as when I was awake for my usual 3-5am insomnia this morning I felt it move but not since waking up - maybe it's going to be a night owl (GREAT!!!!)

oooh card making - I hate buying them too - they are sooo expensive (have 5 birthdays in August all of which require cards from me/DH and one from DS (nanny / auntie etc) so it costs a fortune - although I don't have the patience / artistic skills to do my own. What sort of business are you thinking of doing? One of my long-term dreams is to do floristry from a little out house at the back on our house (we need to buy said house with outhouse first) but for private functions and weddings and things so I am determined this year to get started on some floristry courses. DH has plans for his work that hopefully would mean we are not dependant on my salary (as we are at the moment) in a couple of years time so I would be able to look at other options then.

Just heard from DH, he has finished work early and on his way home so maybe we'll take DS swimming or something this afternoon... or maybe I'll send him out with DS and I'll carry on having my own peace and quiet!

bilblio · 21/08/2011 12:41

Sending DH and DS out again sounds like a great idea, it's actually looking a bit sunny here, hope it is where you are and they can have a run around in the park.

Is twin 2 very fidgety? I'm just thinking, my LO gets fidgety when I sit still or at night. When I'm moving around it seems to settle down to sleep.
If twin 2 is fidgety, and they're both quiet when you're moving, twin 1 might just be getting lulled into sleep and quietness by all the other movements going on.
Or I might just be talking rubbish. :o

I am a very crafty person, too crafty, I do loads of different things and rarely get them finished.

The business I'm thinking of is making toppers for cards using a die-cut machine and selling them on ebay, plus a few other similar craft based sites.
I've been thinking about doing it for ages, but there seemed to be so many other people doing it it wasn't worth it, plus I didn't have the time. There's a new machine available now which is more expensive than most, but does a lot more things. It more than what someone would buy to make things for themselves, but it's not a huge outlay for setting up a business.

One of my biggest failures as a crafty person is I like fabric, and paper, and all the bits and pieces, I've got LOADS, but I can never decide what to make.... so this business would let me play with all the paper, fabric etc, but I don't have to commit to making a finished item. :o

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 21/08/2011 17:38

TMI alert

I have a varicose vein on my fanjo Shock it's really quite painful and swollen WTF can I do??

BabCNesbitt · 21/08/2011 20:15

Edward, no suggestions, but a sympathetic wince. :(

bilblio · 21/08/2011 22:26

Ouch!
How? I didn't even know you could get them there. Shock

Maybe an ice pack? Make sure it's well wrapped in a towel though so it's not too cold!

Reesie · 21/08/2011 22:39

Hi! Have been reading the posts but haven't got around to posting until now. Baby no3 is on Oct 15. I've been disoragnised and haven't really got anything ready yet. I have cleared a drawer out to put some things in but otherwise I've been rubbish!

A quick wave to Penguin as I'm also a pregnant vegan - Lidl does lovely vegan chocolate as well as hot cross buns.

I just measured my bump around my girth and I'm 45 inches. I have only gained about 12lbs this pregnancy so far (DD1 - I was absolutely huge!) I just think that running around looking after 2 small children is keeping the weight down. Saying that though - I look ok but my bump is really big. I'm getting a big sick of the constant 'are there two in there', 'gosh, you are really big' or 'you'll never last another 8 weeks'. Groan.

I'm suffering from leg cramps in the night. I usually wake up twice for cramps and another two times for a wee!

Poor previous poster - vulval varicosities are not nice. It basically is the weight of the pregnancy on your poor pelvic floor. The blood can get down there easily but has trouble getting back up. Very little can be done in pregnancy except taking it easy. A busy day running around and you'll be really sore by the end of the day. It also will prob get a bit worse as pregnancy progresses as you get heavier.

If you have a bad day a wet sanitary pad from the fridge being put insitu and putting your feet up for a while helps a bit. Also - don't forget your pelvic floor exercises.

Reesie · 21/08/2011 22:41

Also, Edward - it's not uncommon and it will clear up afterwards!

LittlePebble · 22/08/2011 07:33

Morning all, just been catching up with posts.
engels congratulations
Edward ouch you have my sympathy [runs off to check down there for signs of varicose veins]
Welcome reeses and hope everyone else is ok x
Just had a day off (bliss) and only have two more horrifically busy weekends to get through before things quieten down a bit at work so counting the days. It's my nana's funeral tomorrow and I'm doing a reading so am panicking I'll fall over on way up to read it or sob throughout, have made DP promise if I break down he'll get up and finish it.
Otherwise still haven't managed to do much for the baby as work is so busy I've just got to pray it doesn't come early! X

LittlePebble · 22/08/2011 07:34

reesie sorry Blush

BB3 · 22/08/2011 10:12

Morning ladies.

pebble hope tomorrow goes ok - thinking of you.

Edward ouch but hopefully it will go afterwards ?!?! Sounds like a good reason to rest to me!

reesie hello!! How you feeling all in all? Apart from leg cramps and toilet trips interrupting your sleep? Do you know what flavour this lo is?

Quick question - is anyone else suffering with period pain? Ive had it quite bad this morning although it's easing off some now.

Last night we had three lots of toddler tears and what felt like ten toilet trips so am very tired this morning but actually feeling a bit better than normal (albeit slow as I drag my gurt big belly around Grin).

rebelwithoutababy · 22/08/2011 10:25

Hi all, oooh, lots of lovely posts to read!
Have been a bit quiet as I had a bit of a panic on Thursday after stupid GP told me protein in my urine and measuring really small for dates was "fine". Rang MWs at hospital and they were great, and went in to Day Assessment Unit on Fri am with DH for scan to check growth and to check my BP and urine. Scan all good: LO is on 50th centile for everything, and currently weighs 4lb 9oz (er, a bit worrying then, since I have put on just over 2 stone, and I don't think the rest of it is placenta!) but also has moved to head down from transverse, and placenta is well out of way, so I can go for vaginal delivery, waterbirth etc! Yay! BP and urine also fine, so GP clearly just an idiot!
Any way, took rest of day off on Friday to relax, as hadn't slept at all Thurs night, and then had lovely weekend of seeing friends, and my godson, and my mum, so feel much better this morning.
BabC can't believe your friend's FB posts: am all for everyone doing what suits them in pregnancy, but that's just showing off. She prob felt like crap after all that anyway. I think it's great just to be taking things slowly, but if not, just keep it to yourself! Gah!
Biblio too, what is it with these annoying "friends"/frenemies? Why can't they just be supportive?!
All those with aching hips, and the whole lying on the left hand side thing: am with you on that! Cheshire I read that research (the original paper) and it seems pretty flawed: they just asked women to recall how they slept (and how many people just lie in one position every single night?!) and the differences between those who slept on their right/left/back were very small, although statistically significant. The authors admit more work needs to be done. I still got myself pretty obsessed with it though, and have now given myself a dodgy left hip from trying to stay on one side. I've now decided that actually getting some sleep and not being disabled is probably more important, so am allowing myself to sleep on left or right, and sleeping much better. Have to say that dreamgenii pillow was also a v good buy in terms of comfort.
FYI for leg cramps, it's usually magnesium/potassium that are low (as well as blood flow issues): milk good for former, bananas for latter, but you can also buy magnesium phosphate supps from Holland and Barrett/Boots which might help...
Edward sorry about your lady garden issues: sounds sore to say the least! Hope you find some relief!
And huge congrats to you MrsEngels: sounds like a lovely day!
Right, need to get on with some work: 5 weeks to go til ML Yay!!!!!!!!
xx

meravigliosa · 22/08/2011 10:30

rebel glad every OK re size. I had this some weeks back at a GP check and everything was found to be OK (though I'd had a panic in the meantime). Just the other week I went to MW at GP practice, and the same GP was there to get some extra experience with MW of working out by palpation etc how baby was lying. She said she hadn't seen too many pg women as she had been in the military!! Wish I had known that when having panic some weeks before...

PenguinArmy · 22/08/2011 10:55

I still seem to be measuring 27cms but am 32 weeks now. Think I'll request a growth scan once I get registered, the background worry is starting to get to me now, but I do see why the MWs here didn't bother with it.

Looked at the flat yesterday and it's lovely :) Won't move in until next weekend but am off to google nearby GPs now and see if I can the registration process and maybe book a provisional MW appointment. I didn't bother getting the non-antibody bloods redone.

Quite tired today but DD has been waking multiple times in the night for the past 4 nights, albeit only briefly.

PenguinArmy · 22/08/2011 11:09

edward just read your AIBU and wanted to send some sympathies and hope things carry on getting better

SconesForTea · 22/08/2011 11:49

Hi everyone

PA a growth scan sounds a good idea, best of luck with resgistering with a GP and MW too, hopefully the usual painful process will be hastened due to your pg

People who update every detail of their pg on FB make me laugh, also those who only have pics of their LOs as their profile pic (sorry if anyone does this I just think it's wierd). Not everyone is as interested in our pgs as we are and BabC's friend was just plain boasting. How you feel from day to day can change so much, I carried DD upstairs for her nap this morning and panted like a steam train for 5 minutes afterwards Hmm

Hi Reesie I can't believe you've only gained 12lb! Envy I too am getting a little tired of the constant comments on the size of my bump. I've been big since the beginning this time (2nd pg) and am now definitely larger than when I was overdue with DD. But I know that without everyone I meet pointing it out!!

Edward - ouch

bilblio your business idea sounds great, I wish I had an idea for my own business, I don't have a job to go back to but didn't enjoy what I did before anyway (accountancy).

Pebble hope the funeral goes well.

rebel and BB3 glad your scares turned out ok.

This LO is starting to move a lot!! Which is great as I hardly felt DD move due to anterior placenta and this placenta is anterior too so I thought it'd be the same. But I can feel it wriggle loads at the moment and see my stomach move too which I never did with DD Grin I love it. I wonder if it's a boy as it's so much more active....

Have a good day everyone.

BB3 · 22/08/2011 12:27

Scones DS was very active so maybe! Although we were going through all the old wives tales with the midwives over the weekend and we decided that these two are either two boys, two girls or one of each as none of them gave a definitive answer!!!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 22/08/2011 13:05

penguin thanks they seem better so far, DH was really down yesterday (think he was ashamed)
I wont know for certain really till the weekend although we do have a night out arranged for sat with a few of his friends (who are all v heavy drinkers and tend to take the piss out of ppl who don't drink) Confused so that will be interesting.
I have a feeling DH will either cancel it altogether or disappoint but I don't want to influence him as I want all the effort to come from him IYSWIM

Have called in sick again at work Blush between gardening issues! And pelvic pain due to attempting a ceilidh I'm in agony!

CheshireDing · 22/08/2011 19:26

Porgey is constantly poking around at my right side so I wonder if that means it's a boy too. Lots of ripples and hard bits on the right which made me say to DH that it was creeping around in there but he said I couldn't use that word as it wasn't very complimentary to Porgey!

Rebel sooo pleased for you about the scan, bring on the home water birth

Edward how can you even see your lady bits? My tum if hard now and won't move out of the way for anything.

Hello Reesie I am too scared to weight myself, I think I would be disturbed for life

Thinking of you for tomorrow Pebble

Penelope1980 · 22/08/2011 21:08

BB3 I've had those pains too recently, I asked my midwife and she said it's ok as long as it's not contractions! Period type pains still worry me, although they shouldn't as I've had enough in the course of being pregnant.

Anyone else have shocking headaches? That's my thing of the week it seems.

TallyBear · 22/08/2011 21:10

(Read through all the posts but I can never remember who put what when it comes to writing! I'll have a go...)

Rebel..Perhaps I can relax a bit on the left-hand sleeping thing, but to turn over to my right side is a bit of a effort too! DH wakes me up if he finds me sleeping on my back!! Someone mentioned about hating being breathed on. I hate that too. I have to cover my face. It's why I normally sleep on my right!

I'm with (whoever it was) on the leg cramps - horrible. Although I'm interested to note the comments on milk and bananas. I've recently swapped my coco-pops for weetabix with sliced banana of a morning and just noticed that I haven't had cramps for a while. Coincidence?! I've really developed a taste for it and it's healthy too (lots of wholewheat, potassium and calcium - needs lots of milk) and if it helps with the leg cramps then I'm loving it even more. I've got enough things keeping me awake!

Scones my tummy moves quite a lot. Mainly on the train, which I love as I always think might freak people out a bit. Not seen a hand or foot yet though. :(

I've been going a bit mad on baby clothes - partially due to the sale at Pumpkin Patch (got a code for 25% off sale items and free delivery if anyone is interested). Somebody stop me! Seriously, how many outfits does an ickle baby need? Need to do a stock count before I order any more! Someone at work was shopping for their grandson and bought us a really cute little sleepsuit from Next (apparently she can't resist baby clothes). I've only known her a few months so I was really touched.

Need to concentrate on getting all the other bits and pieces now. At least we've decided on a pram. That's one hurdle out of the way. :)

bilblio · 22/08/2011 21:47

Prompted by the fact my bump is most definitely all out at the front. (Except for the waddle I don't look pregnant from the back.) I've been looking up old wives tales.
I've come to the conclusion...

I'm having a boy... or a girl. :o

I get about 50/50 on both of them.
This baby is more fidgety than DD, though she was bad enough and literally tied herself in knots through fidgeting. I was speaking to my neighbour about it though, she has 4 daughters and with each pregnancy she's felt the baby move more. She puts it down to the fact her muscles have become weaker with each pregnancy and the ligaments stretch easier so the movements are more pronounced.
By the 4th daughter her husband couldn't cuddle her for long at night because it freaked him out.

Scones Accountancy, that's where my business plans fall down. I'm rubbish at keeping track of my money, and don't have a clue where to start other than keeping all my receipts. But I'm very good spreadsheets and like maths/numbers so hopefully I'll pick it up as I go along.

BB3 I've had a lot of mild period type pains too, it hurts to stand up straight at times. I'm just assuming they're going to get worse over the next couple of months, but they're not contractions.

Pebble all the best for tomorrow. Take care.

BabCNesbitt · 23/08/2011 17:31

Edward, you attempted a ceilidh? Shock You are a brave soul! What was it that did for you in the end - were you the central lassie in a Dashing White Sergeant? Grin

Hi Reesie - good to see another pregnant vegan on board!

Had to go and see a doctor in the perinatal psych department at the hospital this morning - had a major depressive episode ten years ago, so the nervous community midwife referred me to make sure that I was aware of who to turn to in case of PND. I was a bit worried that it was going to be them checking me to see if I was likely to be a danger to the wee yin, but fortunately they seemed reassured that I am officially fully sane, and told me to look into pram pushing exercise groups post-birth. Smile I wonder if I can join in with a sling...

TallyBear · 23/08/2011 18:49

Had our next mw app this morning. We've been referred to the consultant at the hospital as she thought bump was a bit smaller than it should be, according to the sliding scale thing in the book. She's not sure if bubs is small or just 'compact'. Had a message to call the hospital when I got back for work. Small panic to start with ('why are they calling so soon, there must be something wrong') and then realised that they wouldn't know any more than us - probably less. They must just be efficient! Anyways, got an app tomorrow PM and they can arrange a scan if needed. As nice as it would be to see His Lordship again, I would prefer them to say everything's fine. MW also thinks he's breech. He's got 5 weeks to turn...which is going to be fun if he's compacted in there!

Blimey, as if there's not enough things to worry about!

PA, I hope you get your growth concerns sorted out too.

BuffyFairy · 23/08/2011 19:36

Hi everyone,

Life has been so manic I'm really looking forward to starting ML on the 15th Sept. Work is really stressful, we got a maternity cover in but he turned out to be useless so had to let hime go. Now everyone is panicing and I'm trying to hand over work to various people and get everything sorted out. Been working really long hours. Luckily DP has been cooking for me when I get in and keeping the flat tidy during the week as I'm too tired to do anything after work.

We had a 4d scan done a few weeks back and it was amazing to see baby's face. All chubby cheeks and button nosed.

St Georges antenatal classes have been good and glad I booked the NCT ones as well as I've meant some lovely couples through that. Rebel have you got Narindar for your NCT teacher by any chance?

Re cramps, I got told that a glass of Ribena before bed helps so I've been trying that and it's made them better.

Pebble hope you're ok, so sorry to hear your news.

Hello to all the newbies.
