tally I had that last time, growth scan and possible breach but then I was only measuring 3cm short. However, the movement from Nigel is unbelievable but would appreciate the reassurance. They do tend to always move quickly with these things regardless of issues so don't take that as a sign in itself and good luck for tomorrow. I found waiting that day rather anguishing so hope your OK. They also did a follow up scan for two weeks after so they might do that, just to check that it's growing. That was good in my case as my bump still remained static so it didn't grow externally for at least a month but scan showed it to be on the same percentile both times.

Reesie as well as the veganism we also have the same due date :)

Is anyone in the Oxford area?

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 23/08/2011 20:02

I only did 3 or 4 dances and were all couples dances the floor was just too busy for group ones lol. I actually felt great while doing it was dying by about 3 hours afterward though and still paying now Sad
got MW tomorrow hopefully she can give me some help with veins issues but googling says there's nothing I can do and they'll prob get worse!

CheshireDing · 23/08/2011 20:26

Evening everyone, ticked off now as:-

Lollipop Lane stuff was supposed to be being delivered by now - been delayed until mid September

Pram and associated tat which comes with it was supposed to be ready by 21st Aug - no phone call so not holding out much hope for that as it's now 23rd

Nursery Furniture - Should have been being delivered on 1st September, now apparently mid September

As the furniture is coming from Mamas and Papas and I have since read lots of bad reviews I am definitely not holding out hope for that one. The Lollipop Lane stuff we have ordered is out of stock everywhere (everyone seems to want donkey tiebacks)!

I am confident it will all turn up before Porgey does, DH not so convinced and now fretting. Worst case we could just go and buy a temporary moses basket from somewhere else but it's just a pain :(

Sent DH to buy more bananas as we were out of stock last week and that's when the cramp came back.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 23/08/2011 21:50

Cheshire if u need a cheap Moses basket to tide you over asda are doing a baby event starting next tues one of their specials is a Moses basket at £26 just got a flyer through today about it.

PenguinArmy · 23/08/2011 21:56

tesco have 25% off baby things atm when ordering online, which take theirs down to 22.50 but not sure if it has a sheet as I haven't opened it. (plus family workers mean I get 10% off original price to start so if you anyone that works there...)

Penelope1980 · 23/08/2011 22:01

Hi all - hope your stuff arrives on time CheshireDing!

I found out at the midwife's that I have high blood pressure, and have been instructed not to work for the next two days and have to do a bunch of tests for pre-eclampsia. Has anyone else had this? I feel fine apart from a headache, so am faced with two days at home and not quite sure what to do to keep blood pressure down! Am a bit gutted actually as have some interesting work this week and was hoping to stay at work for at least 2 more weeks so am not sure whether I will be allowed to do that. Midwife mentioned that if I can't get my BP down I may need to be induced early as well, so may be having a September baby afterall! We shall see.

It's something I've never faced before - having to be at home when I actually feel really good. Oh well. I'll have to look for some good books!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 23/08/2011 22:11

Penelope I'd recommend some good reading you need to rest as much as possible, hope it's just a blip and not pre eclampsia.
You at least have a good excuse for ur DH to do all the housework cooking etc Wink

Reesie · 23/08/2011 22:39

Gosh, people are really organised on here. Feeling a bit sorry about my small baby so went to mothercare today and bought some babygrows. Have also cut out the material to make a sling so just have to hem around it (only a long scarf thingy - nothing complicated). All in all - most things now done! My 2 dd's who are 4 and 2 are both really excited about the new brothers impending arrival and spend lots of time talking to him through my abdomen. Bless.

Penelope - Have a lovely coupls of relaxing days at home. Go to the cinema, read some magazines, lots of little naps, make some meals for the freezer. I must admit to a small bit of jealousy that I would love to have a couple of days to do things such as these. Instead with 2 small children at home and feeling a tad knackered with entertaining them - I start to fantasize about a whole day to myself Wink

emmazed · 24/08/2011 12:34

Penelope i hope you feel better soon.

CheshireDing possibly a bit late to change your things, but we have had a great experience with both John Lewis and Mothercare getting stuff delivered.

Our nursery is starting to come together, although i now want to make a cushion for our blanket box to turn it into a little seat - as long as he is not early i reckon i have enough time.

hope everyone's work is going well. i am now moving into part time work (using my annual leave to take mondays and fridays off) for the next 4 weeks. i am so excited to have a bit of time to sort stuff out, make some food for the freezer (and do nothing!)

we had a private 3rd T scan which also included a 3d picture of his face. it is amazing to see our little one although a bit freaky. i wonder how accurate it is?

rebelwithoutababy · 24/08/2011 12:45

Gah, Buffy! Outed! Yes, is me...see you tonight! x

mpops · 24/08/2011 13:06

Hello all. I've been so busy and hadn't had a chance to check in here.

Penelope, I had high bp for a couple of weeks and was ordered to take it easy and it worked. I just stayed in and mostly in bed, reading and listening to music and not worrying about anything. You'll be fine! Hope the headaches go away.

Pebble, really sorry to hear your news.

I can't believe I'm 34 weeks today. I've still got a couple of things missing from my hospital bag and I'm visiting the maternity unit tomorrow, so hopefully it'll all be OK and I'll start feeling ready. Eeeek! I've even bought a natal hypnotherapy cd... Hmm

BuffyFairy · 24/08/2011 14:11

Ah Rebel you're not outed, I'm in a different group! She's been a good teacher. What have you thought?

But if you do want to meet up while on ML just drop me a PM as we must be in the same area ish.

Penelope - hope your BP comes down after some rest.

Any opinions on the clevamama towel apron vs the cuddledry one?

rebelwithoutababy · 24/08/2011 16:00

Oh phew! Was just contemplating the last 6 weeks without being able to rant at will! I think she's been brilliant - she is so well-informed, but not pushy at all. How did you know?

Now I am safely still anonymous, just a quick (totally hormonal and I realise probably unreasonable) moan. My SIL who I don't really get on with (have moaned about her before) due to a long history of her snide comments (oh yes, and planning her wedding for 6 weeks after mine, giving us 2 months warning), has just had her second child, a DD. Ours will now be the 5th grandchild for my DH's family, and all the others have been boys, so I was really hoping ours would be the first girl (we know the sex) so she is "first" for something. Anyway, she's just had a girl. I know it is unreasonable, but I feel a bit sad for our LO that she is the 5th GC and now not the 1st DD....
Also, I just know all the ILs will now start descending on us, and I was so hoping to have a quiet last 6 weeks, spending time with DH and getting ourselves ready for the LO. Already other SIL has said she wants to stay with her 9 week old baby and FIL will prob turn up too...
I should just be happy I am well and LO is well, and I know that, but I can't help my silly hormones....
Anyway, hope you are doing ok Pebbles and definately have a few days relaxing and looking after yourself Penelope
Oh, and Cheshire we are having delivery issues with our Mamas and Papas stuff too: Gah!!
xx

bilblio · 24/08/2011 18:41

rebel You could be cheeky and tell your family you've been ordered to rest if you don't want them coming round. :)

I'm lucky, when my family come round I get told to sit down while my Mum blitzes the entire house, and DH's family generally only come for a couple of hours anyway and will usually want to take DD out. I have fiend a migraine before today though when they got too much one Christmas (I do get migraines anyway.)

This LO will be the 5th girl my side of the family, or the 1st boy.
On DH's side it will be the 2nd girl, or 2nd boy.
If it's a boy it's likely to be spoilt somewhat my my family, and if it's a girl DH's family would continue to spoil it (MIL had 2 sons so spoils DD.)
I sort of hope it's a girl so that some of the attention is taken off DD.

My mission for this weekend is to get my hospital bag packed, and make a list of what we actually have, and work out if it's in our loft or my parents, and double check there's nothing we need to buy.
It's been my mission for about 3 weekends though :o

CheshireDing · 24/08/2011 19:43

Ha good luck with the mission bilb :)

We have not packed our bag because I am waiting for the furniture to be delivered so we can get everything out and wash it and hang Porgey's clothes up but at this rate that will not be until mid September but I want an October baby so it better stay put until then!

Thanks Edward I will bear that in mind for Asda. I just annoys me because we had everything scheduled for certain dates and it's all been delayed.

Rebel I expect it to be delayed again come mid September, the lady said to me on the phone "is that delivery date okay", to which I just said "yes" but really if we have the same conversation in Sept and I said no all they would do would be offer a refund and we would have to go shopping again when we got the whole nursery set for a good price. So we would be at no advantage - they probably know this though. She said to me it was a new ordering system in their warehouse. Clearly they should have tested it better first :(

Does anyone else feel that sometimes their baby must be right at the front of their tum? It goes all hard top right and feels like I am front heavy. Porgey has been head butting/kicking (whatever it's doing) in the same top right area for at least a week I think, although I thought there was still room for them to move around/flip over.

PenguinArmy · 24/08/2011 20:02

chesire all the time. When I lie down the effect of gravity sends him to the cavern that is apparently my stomach as he disappears. There is nearly always half a hard ball right at the front and sticking out. He is largely in the same place, as DD was but she hid out at the back. I have had fanjo kicking which has been interesting, but generally I feel him top right and bottom left against my pelvis, often simultaneously.

hmm hospital bag, that should probably be at the top of list of things to do once we move.

Penelope1980 · 25/08/2011 05:05

rebel I understand you getting upset about SIL, she sounds like a pain. Being from a big family myself though with many cousins, I do know that birth order or who is the first boy or girl etc matters not an iota in terms of how "special" someone is. My grandad's fave grandchildren were ones that were all younger siblings!

cheshire I have that too, and in the top right area as well. Midwife says that means he's in an excellent position though for labour, so am hoping he stays there!

Thanks for the nice messages about my blood pressure, after I got used to it it's been quite nice doing nothing at all - work have been very understanding, and on my midwife's advice have to cut down work to mornings only until I stop in 2 weeks. The BP is ok now, not great, but not super high now either although the midwife says I have to be very careful as it's likely to go back up.

Strange thing I now have to get used to the idea of him coming earlier than expected - due date was 4 Oct, but now midwife is going off another scan that said 29 Sept and saying it's unlikely they'll even let me go that far! I guess it's all a case of wait and see of course, but in my head I really was expecting an Oct baby so (blood pressure willing) will have to start doing better planning for baby earlier than expected! I'm actually very excited about it though ...

sassy34264 · 25/08/2011 08:38

morning everyone.
cheshire ive spent the last 2years ordering off the internet and so far (touch wood) everything has took next to no time- within a week. so you are really unlucky to have more than one thing so late. id be mad, as it must take away some of the excitment. i would definately tell them that you want a refund if it isnt delivered by mid sept.
penelope high bp isnt something i have ever had but my mum has it and it turned into pre eclampsia for both mine and my brothers pregnancy. she was taken into hospital on xmas eve with my brother and he wasnt born till the march! so you definately need to take it easy. x
ive just read all the previous posts and didnt notice bb3 although i could have missed it with my baby brain! hope you are well bb3.
i havent had half the symptoms i had with twin pregnancy but my back is that buggered that i have found it harder to manage. not had a leg cramp yet and by this time, 31 weeks, i was suffering greatly with carpal tunnel syndrome. but as i am typing this my fingers are going numb so i would say it might be starting. arghhhhh.
ive still not packed a bag- really, really need to crack on with that! im not sure what is stopping me. its a bit psychological i think. Confused

BB3 · 25/08/2011 13:31

Hello everyone - sorry have been a bit awol - last few days at work are typically manic and have had a few issues with the bubs (they are fine though).

Right let me go through all the comments I have missed...

rebel glad things looked ok at the scan and you feel better after the rest.

Penguin is it this weekend you move? Very exciting. Hope you don't stress too much about size, maybe you are jus very, very neat, have you managed to get a growth scan organised?

Reesie 12lb Shock. I haven't actually got on the scales yet but I am pretty sure I might cry if I do so i am not doing it! The most I will do is measure my roundness - now standing at 51inches!!

pebble hope the funeral went ok - well as ok as it can x

Cheshire I can't see my lady bits either (what with being 51 inches round!). Might be wroth complaining and seeing if they can push it forward a bit. Ordinarily I have massive problems with deliveries and things turning up but this time it's been ok which was a huge surprise - fingers crossed you get it all sorted soon.......

Tally I can't wait to go clothes shopping - mum bought some more outfits last week so now they have 4 each which I think is quite impressive!! Any news on the bump size?

Buffy my mat cover is also is a nightmare also and I have got the point where I have now given up trying - everything is such an effort for her so I am going to let my bosses deal with it when I am gone.

penelope make sure you rest and enjoy the books and DVDs while you can.

Emmazed yay for nursery and part time work. The nursery here was finally started yesterday but the wallpaper went all wrong so half has to come down again!!! JOY!

rebel completely understandable to be annoyed - but do be strong and push back on your family you wont want them all descending on you. Ds was first boy (grandchild, great grandchild) but she will be equally as loved.

sassy hey I'm ok - just been a bit of a week, hope it's not the return of CT - rest up and keep your hands well soaked and warm. I am not really an internet shopper - will do it for a lot of things but I like the post purchase gratification of having those bags in my hands and car and then lining them up in my bedroom when I get home... Now make sure you pack your hospital bag - this is your 4th baby you are likely to be early no? Or induced if it's a biggun!

Thanks for advice on period pains - mine did turn into earlier in the weekand consultant is a bit concerned as they were quite regular but only lasted a few hours each time so we are just monitoring them now.

Anyway - better get some work done xxx

Wobbledoos · 25/08/2011 14:48

hello all,

nothing exciting to share from me, just wanted to say hello.

33+5.... i SO hope this little chap decides not to go overdue. not enjoying being pregnant at all lately :(

oh, i do have some news. EDD is 9/10/11. my mum has decided she is coming (from spain, has booked flights) to stay 13th - 24th.... PLEASE come early bubba!!!

cheekydino · 25/08/2011 19:22

cheshire that is exactly where my little one is at the moment, but I'm very glad she's moved away from my ribs which was agony! Hope you get the furniture sorted.

bb3 glad to hear the twins are staying put - hope work is less manic from now on. Rest up!

sassy - I am exactly the same on the bag thing! I've been buying things for it since about 20 weeks, but am now nearly 35 and still haven't packed. Complete denial to blame despite my worry about her coming early like my ds. Must do tomorrow!

Update from me - saw consultant who has booked me for an ELCS at 39+4, but has said that she will offer to do a sweep and then possibly induction at my next appt at 37 weeks (as my main concern is baby is huge, and tore badly with my 4lb ds) if I decide I'd like to try natural, but she recommended an epidural after my pain issues last time. What to do??? Anyone any advice/experience of either?

TallyBear · 25/08/2011 22:15

PA and BB3 (you're so good, remembering who said what!) - thanks, the growth scan was OK on Weds. Dr didn't seem that concerned. LO's heartbeat was fine, he's practicing breathing, he was moving lots and fluid was OK. She even checked the blood-flow from the placenta. She's taken measurements and I need to go back in two weeks to check growth. I'm not too worried but there's always a bit in the back of your mind....

PA I hope you managed to get an appointment/scan.

The closing date for the temp cover for my post was today. It looks like there are at least 6 applicants, so hopefully someone capable. As long as they don't do it better than me!! To all those having problems, I would leave to your bosses to sort. Harsh but necessary. We have different priorities now!

TallyBear · 25/08/2011 22:29

For those 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) timers, any advice on whether this list of baby things is about right? Anything unnecessary or missing?

Pram
Car seat/base
Cot/mattress
Mattress protector
Waterproof sheet
Fitted sheets
Moses basket/stand
Sheets
Sleeping bags
Changing mats
Changing table
Changing bag
Bath
Top and toe bath
Towels
Baby monitor
Room thermometer (prob not essential but we like the sound of it)
Bouncy chair/rocker
Microwave steriliser (plan to try breast feeding but to mix with expressing/formula if necessary)
Bottles/storage cups
Breast pump
Muslins
Breast pads
Lansinoh cream

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 22:35

tally glad it went OK :)

no, i can't get an appointment until I register in person, couldn't even get out of them how long of a wait it was likely to nor adequately convince her why I would need a booking in appointment. Oh well, I've looked up a few surgeries and I'll just go round them until I feel like one will see me in a good space of time. Don't think I'll get a consultant appt for 34 weeks though.

I've kinda enjoyed seeing people's shocked faces when I tell them I'm due in just over 7 weeks though Grin

cheeky sorry no advice (especially since unlike BB3 I remember nothing so know none of your history), but it seems like the smaller babies do more damage.

If they wanted to me to go for VB I would be very anti induction. I keep flipping between wanting CS and VB, especially since I'm not afraid of VB. I have a feeling I'll be early.

PenguinArmy · 25/08/2011 22:36

anyone got a mattress thing on your beds yet Grin
