Right here's our new thread.

So who's going to be first for an early Christmas present then?

Don't envy you Iris - I need to go into Glasgow next weeks sometime with DD dreading it, will go early on Monday morning I think, people are just mad this time of year.

Rachey - have a good weekend and take it easy.

I had a bad day with BHs yesterday as well, they are quite painful between them and my hips cracking when I moved in bed I was feeling quite sorry for myself.

Got my mother and her partner coming for a visit today, we don't get on and I'm expecting her first words to be "oh your REALLY big" or "you've put weight on all over your bums really big" or some flattering comments like that, though if she did give me a compliment I think I would fall over. Only seen her once in 3 months so it's endure and get it over with.

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 10/12/2005 16:16

just got 2 new sleep / nursing bras through the post from jojo maman bebe - very good value at £7 each, and very comfy. shortening the straps essential to improve the support factor. they're having a sale at the moment, so maybe worth having a look if you need bras.

iris

hope your shopping trip wasn't too arduous, don't fancy it myself.

i had a lazy day today, lie in and breakfast in bed to listen to stephen fry and j k rowling in conversation (i'm a bit of harry potter geek i'm afraid), followed by slow start, then swim at the health club, ante natal yoga and coffee with other pregnant mums. very relaxing, and a meal out with dh early doors to come (he has been forgiven for THAT poem), after a nap scheduled soon! sounds good eh?

hope you're all having good saturdays.

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 10/12/2005 16:18

sweetkit

thinking of you and your mother situation, hope it goes well. my mil is good at those non-compliments too, like when she said "have you got another in there?" 2 days after i'd given birth to her first grandson! Grr, still haven't forgiven her!!

GeorgiePorgieCHRISTMASpuddinga · 10/12/2005 16:58

Hey chicks

Just crept onto the PC for a couple of mins. Weird day here today. DD with her dad, so really quiet ( I know I should make the most of it, but I do miss her). And DH got tonsilitis and virus thing. Being a typical man about it as well . Various coughs and splutterings going on from the couch. Followed by long sighs. Poor bloke, he's cr&p at being ill .

Have been having bad BH as well. Plus I'm fully paid up member of Bad Night's Sleep Club. Been waking at 4.30ish with bursting bladder then can't get back to sleep. Was up at 5.30 this morning watching Queer Eye for a Straight Guy and writing Christmas cards...... am certifiable!

Lyra - glad you forgave DH for poem. Not sure I could be so mature given that I'm an intolerant emotional cow at the moment

Rachey - kudos for the Adopt a Goat scheme. Am convinced that one year I'm going to get presents like that for my family.

Sweet Kit - didn't realise that you were due on 14th too. Same date as me. Hooray, we can moan together if they are late!

Re: dummy's. DD had one for 11 weeks and then sucked her thumb (and still does, but only when tired). Have got a couple for Beany, will see whether she's a 'sucky' baby or not.

And have also got the disposable knickers....woo hoo! Will also invest in Bridget Jones style granny pants as am sure the novelty of wearing paper pants will wear thin quite quickly!

Have also got MIL down for w/e (why do you think I@m hiding on PC ). She's not so bad, but we don't have a lot in common, so conversation can be a bit stilted!

Right, better go and see if DH wants anything.

Hope everyone has a lovely w/e.

G xx

PS - Welcome Maman. Good to have you on board.

Chuffingoodtime · 11/12/2005 00:38

Sounds like we are all achy and not sleeping overly well. Baby is still having some really GOOD movements, very visible and I now officially have agony hips today right on my adductor muscles on my inner thighs. I'm blaming the bed we are sleeping in at the moment as dh is waking with a sore back every morning too, (I also have a sore back) and it is his parent's bed and his dad also hates it. We went out this morning and have ordered our bed for our house and will put our mattress on their bed - soooo looking forward to it. We have splashed out a bit and bought one of those NASA specialist foam ones that adjusts with your body heat.
dd had a dummy from about 6-16 weeks when she went through a really sucky phase and then just started spitting it out. Will just see what happens with the new baby. If it is really sucky then we will use it for a bit but I hate seeing toddlers running around with them in their mouths and don't want my kids to be like that if I can help it.
Still haven't got too far with Christmas shopping but hopefully will get a bit further tomorrow, going out to see Mum so will drop a few hints as to what to get. She might have ideas for my grandmother as well which would be good.
Well better go and see if dd is stirring then off to do some more work on the house this afternoon.

OhTickletownofbethlehem · 11/12/2005 09:47

Hello everyone - and welcome Maman... I am english but have a danish dh & we moved to DK 2 yrs ago - so my children are definitely bilingual!

Were supposed to be putting up Christmas decs today (altho here the tree is decorated only on the evening before Christmas Eve) but dh & I haven't got the energy... that seems to have been given to dd2 today, who keeps thrusting picture books in our faces! Finally got dh to take some pics of bump - both getting a bit nostalgic last night that this is the last one. Worked out I have been (successfully) pregnant for 3 years!! Woah.

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 11/12/2005 11:08

Hi all - had another early start today but was busy cleaning so didn't get on the PC. Shopping yesterday wasn't as bad as expected (thank goodness!) though DD probably wouldn't agree as I had her acting as my personal pack horse!! . I told her it was her priviledge to help me as I'd saved her a bus fare and the price of a fab new haircut! We did get more make up freebies though on the way through the department stores which really cheered her up as she kept most of it(had to draw the line at Chanel though!!)

Primark has some fab undies/nighties etc at the mo doesn't it. I got a 5 pack of big knickers, a (thin)blue fleecy dressing gown for hospital and a couple of vest tops for 12 quid! (the dressing gown was only a fiver!!!)

Rachey - hope your w/e with your mum went well. Helluva journey not to have a nice time!

Chuffed - might sitting on a ball help? It all sounds very uncomfortable - poor you. Good job you've plenty of help and at least you've not much longer to go.

Tickle - you putting xmas decs up. I have to wait until Thu when I stop work. Seems everso wierd as I don't really look on what I do as work and consider my "stopping work" as occurring a few years ago when I stopped being someone's employee!! Which reminds me - I still haven't applied for Mat Benefit yet! best I get that done right now!!
back l8r!!

OhTickletownofbethlehem · 11/12/2005 16:17

OK - have just come in with the kids, having stopped at island's bakery on the way. DH due back soon.

Dilemma - do I finish 2 out of 3 jam doughnuts and hide the evidence?? Already through 1.5

GeorgiePorgieCHRISTMASpuddinga · 11/12/2005 19:07

Tickle - eat the damn lot and blame it on the dog

Poor DH. Doc told him it was the worse case of tonsilitis that he's ever seen. He's on horse pill sized antibiotics and looking rather peaky. I can't go near him as he's got 'breath of death' as well and it makes me gag.... happy household here tonight!

Chuffed - am v of your new bed. Am waking up with screaming hips and the thought of being able to lie down on one of those beds.... pure bliss.

SweetKit - how's your pelvis today?

Rachey - how was your trip? Hope it wasn't too awful.

How's everyone else? Feel a little like I've got cabin fever. Rather quiet and boring w/e for us.
Can't walk very far as Beany seems to be resting on a nerve/stitch/cervix and I keep getting the most agonising pains right in my hoo-hoo when I walk. Also been getting a lot of BH, especially last night...thought it was all about to crack off actually .

Anyway, I won't bore you with my waffle anymore.

See you tomorrow

G xx

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 11/12/2005 20:45

Georgie

sorry to hear about your hips and poorly man. not a great combination! hopefully the anti biotics will do their stuff soon.

2 babies born at church (not literally!) this weekend, a boy, Nathanial, and a girl, Sophie. We're still keen on Alexander David or David Alexander, anyone else any further with the name game, or are you keeping it secret?

not much else to report on today. feeling tired today, had a nap this pm at mum's whilst dd horse riding, but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. early nite in order i think. could do with a good book to read, any suggestions?

i've been stockpiling baby nightgowns from ebay this week, don't ask me why. i now have 4, but would really like an old fashioned flannelette one too (the others are more modern cotton jersey ones), but have to stop somewhere: this baby has so many clothes. I'd like another grobag too, I only have one so far, so I'll be keeping my eyes open on the net.

just can't wait to see the baby's little face now, can you?

LittleMissRACHEYXmasBigTits · 12/12/2005 06:49

Morning all! Yes up at 6am so I think I can safely say I'm feeling v uncomfortable too! And definitely hormonal, had tantrum over nothing in Membury Services last night and had a little silent(ish) cry in the dark in the car. Ds1 said 'is it tough being pregnant, Mum?' while I was snivelling. The drive wasn't too awful, more room in dp's new estate, despite carrying presents. He also got the kids a half price second hand dvd player for the car so it was like being on Malaysian Airways or something with all the kids wearing 3d glasses to watch Barbie & Pegasus! Very foggy on the way home yesterday but not a peep out of Billy after he'd been walked till his legs were dropping.

Nice weekend with Mum (if hectic!) went to nice xmas market, saw my 94yr old Grandma and my dad in hospital. Had a couple of meals out and nice Sunday lunch with my sister yesterday - venison that she had (accidently - honest) knocked down! Kids got loads of nice pressies and I seemed to get a load of chocolate and make-up!

Hope your weekend went ok SK! I am v sensitive to comments at the mo, sat in hairdressers on Friday (and then again having eyebrows waxed) with both (unfamiliar) women saying 'oh you're having a baby are you?' Did they really think I was that huge? I thought my bump was quite defined. Really paranoid now

Georgie - hope your dp feeling better.

Tickle - I'd have eaten all the doughnuts myself!

Iris - must get to Primark! Really need huge nighties. I hate disposable knickers, they stick to you and crinkle when you walk!

Chuffed - I bet the baby's head being down is killing your pelvis? It felt like mine was trying to get into my pelvis in the car yesterday but he's as high as ever this morning.

Lyra - love David (ds2 middle name) and Alexander (but a bit too much like Max). Also funny how names have strange connotations with other kids you know. I still like Finn and dp finally come round to Finley Jack so we are converging finally. I'd like some kind of celtic/gaelic/Irish name this time. Think I might nail it after labour when he's just feeling grateful!

Oh god, better get on with some work - 9 more days...

OhTickletownofbethlehem · 12/12/2005 09:08

Only ate 2 out of 3 donuts, so feeling v virtuous!

Weirdest thing - heard a funny noise in the larder, and there is a mouse that has caught itself in a tall glass vase - must have dropped in from the drawer above. Spooky! So off now to the fields to release it!

Hope all tonsils, hips etc are feeling better today.
Later, T xxx

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 12/12/2005 10:06

cr@ppy old nite's sleep for me too, AGAIN, and no real prospect of improvement even after the baby comes. hey ho!

i've been a bit weepy and hormonal too rachey. yesterday i was listening to the archers (sad i know) and had a really good old cry when one of the characters started having a heart attack, reminded me of when my dad died.

my dd was trying to encourage me to have another baby after this one, but i'm not sure i could cope with another pg. she said, me and james will help, which i'm sure they will to a certain extent, but...... we'll see, i'm getting too far ahead of myself aren't i.

rach

i can't believe you've still got 9 days of work to go. you poor thing, good job you're working from home mostly. do you still manage to fit in a nap during a work day? i hope so.

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 12/12/2005 10:19

tickle

just looking at your new photo on the yahoo site - you hippy chick you! i notice you have one of those chiming pendants for your baby to listen to, i was thinking of getting one too, have you used one before? after they're born, you use it as a rattle or something don't you, and the sound is familiar and reassurring. hope you have a good day. x

GeorgiePorgieCHRISTMASpuddinga · 12/12/2005 10:53

Morning

Loojks as if we've all been well and truely bitten by the hormonal bug. Am swinging wildly between wanting to kill DH with my bare hands and fall weeping into his arms.

I don't think that it's helping that I@m starting to get very, very anxious about the birth, being able to cope, our relationship etc etc. Had such a crappy time with DD (PND, 9/11, different country etc etc) that I can't seem to see the good side anymore.

Anyway, I sat down with him last night and told him how i was feeling. He's assured me that everything will be OK, that it won't be as bad as last time and most importantly - he's not my ex-h. And at least he knows now why I'm freaking out.

He's off work today because of his tonsilitis. He's already told me that I'm a mad, anal fruitcake. And would I please take things eay rather than zooming round the house at 100mph tidying things up. he says I look like one of those cartoon characters where you can't see their legs because they're moving so fast .

Does anyone else feel really uncomfortable, bored, tired, hormonal and fed up of being pregnant?

It can't be just me

At least there's not long to go.......

Have a good day one and all.

G xx

OhTickletownofbethlehem · 12/12/2005 12:05

Oh Georgie, I know what you mean with the moods... and it sounds like you're having a bad patch. I'm sure this time will be much much better - you know more about what to expect, so you will be a much more relaxed mum, you don't have all that uncertainty & trauma of 9/11 & being in a foreign country, and as your dh says, you've got him - not your ex-h No-one can tell with PND how it will go, but having suffered once, you'll be able able to ask for help so much more quickly if you feel low.

Just changed the 'turning' appointment on the mainland to Thurs. Really don't want to go, so hoping he will turn before then... my mum flies in on fri, so (if dh's parents will have the 3 kids overnight), dh & I will go over together & stay the night & do some Christmas shopping, then pick my mum up.

Lyra, the pendant is a bola that I bought from www.fromheretomaternity.co.uk - it's lovely & the chimes are really sweet. All my children's friends shake it whenever they see me! It's the first time I've had one, so will have to report back on whether he likes it. Have sent one to my sister in Oz (1st baby due May).

Feeling pretty grouchy myself, but touch wood still sleeping reasonably - remember that being much worse with the other three, so maybe breech is more comfy at this stage!

Aiming to sort thru baby clothes this pm, so better get to it.

lots of love
T x x

LittleMissRACHEYXmasBigTits · 12/12/2005 13:00

I think being hormonal and fed up is all part of it! Georgie, I'm sure you will be much more prepared this time and your dh sounds like he is ready for it. I wonder if any of us realised the challenge of being due in the New Year just after all the xmas work, shopping, kids activities, and social planning! It's stressful enough at the best of times without being 8 months pregnant! Much as I love em, I'm glad I've seen my family and there are no more long journeys. Next time I see them we will be six!

Lyra - thanks for the empathy re work! I wouldn't be able to do it if I wasn't at home mostly. I have to go to Cardiff tomorrow (also work xmas meal) and wednesday so that will hurry the week along. I really can't wait to finish but every day now is a day after with baby! I don't really nap, but I do have a lunchtime bath to wallow in

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 12/12/2005 14:57

hi all another one feeling all weepy and hormonal today. Went into Glasgow to do some shopping I couldn't get up town. Really shouldn't have as I needed the loo twice and it was difficult pushing the pram with the twinges and pains not to mention my pelvis. Babies bum is right under my ribs and it feels so uncomfy like she's not got enough room but is pushing and kicking anyway, I feel like theres no room in my stomach anymore. Friend who's due on 16th Jan phoned me and we had a right good moan though.

Tough weekend, had mum and her partner on Saturday then MIL, SIL and neice yesterday, nice to see them but it's a hassle too. Feel like I haven't seen DP all weekend either.

Was having a worried moan to him last night about coping with 2 babies also starting to feel a bit hormonal about losing my special bond with DD, I suppose one DD2 is here I won't be without her either and she will just slot into place and be part of the family.

I think we are decided on Talia I know quite unusual, still undecided on her second name. I really like Alexander David, Alex is a cool name, David is DPs name too Max is also a great name.

LittleMissRACHEYXmasBigTits · 12/12/2005 18:21

You'll be fine SK - the new baby will just fit in - I tell you what will be weird though, the new babe will be so tiny and your dd1 (your baby now) will feel huge in comparison!

Well, now I have sleeping sickness - went for a bath, lay on the bed and fell asleep for two hours - lovely!

Lyra - you were asking about books earlier - I thoroughly recommend Nicci French psychological thrillers (written by a husband and wife team of journalists) if you haven't already read them. They wrote 'secret smile' which is on TV tonight - I won't be able to see the second part tomorrow which is probably a good thing because I'm usually disappointed by the adaptations - they miss all the subtleties and flag up clues so obviously! The book is so chilling, I read it in one go. All their books are good, but 'killing me softly' is also excellent - it was made into a film with Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes.

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 12/12/2005 18:25

Hi all - at all your hormones. I have been unusually lucky today & only had one snivelly moment when I heard xmas songs (frank sinatra/bing crosby)on the radio this morning reminding me of past xmasses with grand parents (all but 1 now gone).

DD keeps on at me to have another baby too Lyra -SK & Georgie - your posts get me thinking "maybe not!!" lol!! TBH I would like another as company for this one but will probably leave it to chance - which is another way of saying "I will take the risk but no responsibility for how crap I may be whilst pg again"
Tickle - lol at your donut fest (very restrained of you not to eat the lot! I would have!) Those necklaces are adorable & I can see how they can be calming for the baby. I really wanted one but DH is so anti anything that might be even remotely construed as "hoopy jumper hippy shit" (as he so politely terms most things that appeal to me these days - the git!) that I probably won't bother. You'll have to let us know how you & baby get on with it.

Some friends and I had a pot luck brunch today and ate solidly from 1030 until 2pm (warm croissants; bacon, sausage&eggs; pancakes with fruit compote & maple syrup; muffins and cheese & biccies - all washed down with bucks fizz & gallons of coffee) it was bliss. Slept for 2 hours when I got back & was amazed that my blood sugar was fine. Obviously grazing suits me better than 3 meals per day so have decided to make a mental note to just eat my way through the entire festive season! hurrah! bring it on!!

Lyra - think David & Alexander are lovely strong names. We've not quite got to agreeing anything yet but I do like Dominic.
must go - DH just got in with takeaway.xx

GeorgiePorgieCHRISTMASpuddinga · 12/12/2005 18:42

God I love MN. It's such an amazing way to make new friends who are going thru the same thing as you. (she says getting a bit weepy).

Don't know what I'd do without you guys.

Had a nice day too. My oldest friend took the day off work and came over to see me. We wandered into the village and had an ENORMOUS lunch at a burger place called Joe Shmos.....had a BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and fries...oh and a strawberry milkshake. Am ashamed to say that I finished the lot

Am feeling a lot more positive about things now....although no less hormonal . Think I just needed some girlie TLC!

Blinkin' BH are strong tonight and Beany grinding head on stitch/cervix/bladder which ain't much fun.

I love your choice of names. Especailly fond of Alexander as its my bro's name. And I love Talia, it's a beautiful name.

I think we've agreed that Beany will be called Olivia Camille. Although DD wants to call her Beany!

And Rachey.... if I ever get pg again I am NOT doing it over Christmas . It's just too much like hard work.

SweetKit - take it easy my love. Sounds like you've had a jam packed w/e. Can't be good for your hips to be pushing pram up steep hills.

OK, better go am needed for bed time story.

Oh, anyone going to watch Secret Smile with David Tennent tonight? Looks quite good.

G xx

GeorgiePorgieCHRISTMASpuddinga · 12/12/2005 18:45

Tickle - forgot to say good luck for Thurs.

somethingsexyandLYcRAinmystock · 12/12/2005 19:03

yep

i'm definitely planning on watching secret smile tonite, hope it's good enough to keep me awake. ds is into space cadets, so will have to record that for him. in fact i'll set it now before i forget.

thanks for the book recommendations Rach, i'll definitely be persuing those in the library later this week. for now i've borrowed the five people you meet in heaven from a friend. anyone else read it? it's supposed to be good i think.

glad you got a nap in today, even a little one can make all the difference i find. altho i woke up from mine today with acid indigest that i didn't have when i lay down. not fair!!! just about going now, after gaviscon and 2 glasses of milk.

iris

how is your blanket coming along? i'm just about to run out of wool, so i'll need to get more from the shop tomorrow. i think i'm going to embroider on some navy stars when it's done.

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 12/12/2005 19:49

Georgie - so glad you had a nice day today and think Olivia really goes well with your name. I know exactly what you mean about the support/sharing thing though. I don't know many people in RL who are pg (my client had her baby on Fri btw - 40+6 - 7lb girl) only did the "refresher ante-natal" (big mistake - it was only a hospital tour & one session with the physion about breathing)and haven't got round to joining NCT either so really appreciate everyone I've met here. (blimey - am feeling quite lumpy round the throat region just thinking about it - we are so going to have to have a meet up at some point!!) >> in advance

Lyra - I've not started on the embroidery bit of the blanket yet (can't get to it at the mo as the spare room is full of xmas decs boxes) but I'm going to take your recommendation and do stars.

I like Nicci French too Rachey and I thoroughly recommend 5 People You Meet in Heaven Lyra!! I read it about a month before we lost 2 close friends in an accident. Not meaning to sound morbid but I think that it helped me deal with things much better than if I hadn't read it (you'll see what I mean when you read it) It's a fab book, as is The Time Travellers Wife (have lent my copy out & can't remember the author I'm afraid) Celia Ahern's Where Rainbows End and PS I Love You are good for a veg out, non taxing read too. Have you read all the Dan Brown books yet?(all excellent)- ooh I do love a good book!

Secret Smile sounds really good - am off to investigate!..... have a good night all

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 12/12/2005 20:31

Georgie - Olivia was on my shortlist too it's lovely but thought Olivia Reid sounded too much like Oliver Reed and DP wasn't that keen, same reason we couldn't have Millie either.

I think I will only be doing essential walking/driving/housework from now on, I am really struggling and I think I have to admit I can't do it all and take it easy (not easy for me I'm a bit of a control freak).

You are all making me feel so and hungry with all this food talk!
