Right here's our new thread.

So who's going to be first for an early Christmas present then?

OP posts:

hunkermunker · 01/12/2005 09:19

Oh....just had the "My baby's due next month" butterflies!

But might be here...this month! Eek!

How is everyone? I'm having a bit of trouble with my blood sugar, but it's just about OK and the baby's still breech (and how uncomfy is carrying a breech baby?!). Have a growth scan on 6th December too.

lyra41 · 01/12/2005 09:32

Hello all

Sorry to have been such a whinger lately.

Last day at work today Yey!! Feel really ready to stop now, with exactly one calendar month till my due date.

Still having niggling worries that the baby will be ok, I think it's made worse by working in a Special school, children with disabilities are all around me, and somehow I feel that it might happen to us too.

What news from me? Nothing much really. Looking forward to Christmas, hope it's not too uncomfortable with an even bigger bump. Has anyone wrapped a pressie for their unborn babe, just in case s/he comes early? I was thinking of doing that, but it's a bit daft really, as both my kids are old enough not to expect Santa to have brought something for the new baby, and the baby will hardly feel left out if he doesn't have a parcel to unwrap. It's just me being sentimental I think.

Hunkermunker

Sorry to hear you're having some difficulties with your bd sugar. How does it affect you? My dad was diabetic, and I remember when his was high it made him very sleepy, and when it was too low it made him sweaty and sometimes he lost the plot a little, i.e. couldn't remember things, got lost etc. Actually both of those symptoms sound a bit like me all the time at the moment, and I don't think I'm diabetic! It must be quite hard to decipher from normal pg symptoms?

I'll go and do some work now, and post more later. I haven't got much to do really, so expect lots of posts!

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 01/12/2005 09:32

6 weeks to go Hunker

Although DP did say 4 weeks last night if she's as impatient as her sister.

Didn't have that good a night last night, very sore and feeling really heavy downstairs still. Today I have the midwife coming in a bit to talk about homebirths and then have antenatal appt in the afternoon.

Have a good day!

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 01/12/2005 09:34

Don't worry about whinging Lyra this is the place to do it, I think I must whinge on here at least 3 times a day.

iris66 · 01/12/2005 09:45

love the title Sweetkitty - very apt! It really is the final stretch now isn't it (in more ways than one lol !!) scary!
Did your pram dry out ok? looks like it's going to be wet & miserable for the foreseeable so hope you managed to find out how it got wet too!!

As I'm a bit behind the rest of you I'd just like to say that I didn't realise just how uncomfortable it was having a baby that's lying the correct way!! I could bend and sit almost comfortably when he was transverse....but... no more

BTW has anyone found that they have become prone to hysterical laughter? It must be another aspect of the hormones as now, as well as crying at the drop of a hat, I'm finding the most bizarre things hysterically funny - as in ending up doing a weird ,distorted faced, crying thing because I'm laughing so hard (clambering into the car did it to me yesterday!!)
Lyra - hope you have a lovely last day at work
Tickle - hope DD is a bit better today (I used to love it when mine was off school to have some extra special time with just the two of us)

iris66 · 01/12/2005 09:50

PS Hunkermunker - so glad you're still hanging on in there honey! I was nervous as anything for my growth scan yesterday and convinced they were going to put me on insulin as my sugars have been all over the show. With any luck you'll be ok too. Keep us posted!

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 01/12/2005 10:13

Think your Xmas name is fab SK - was so impressed I go one too

Eshay · 01/12/2005 10:33

Yeah, a new thread. Just yesterday I was commenting (quietly to myself at work) that it was getting a bit long.

Happy belated birthday for last Tuesday, Lyra. Another November girl! All 3 of us in the Dutch Department at my work have our birthdays in Nov and my 2 favourite colleagues are November girls as well. And my nephew was born last week so there's another vote for November. I just wish we lived in the Southern Hempishere so Nov would be summer time instead.

My NCT class last night was reallly nice. It was quite a small group so nothing was too structured and we can discuss anything we like. It turned out that the NCT teacher is the same as my Health Visitor so that's pretty lucky. Some HVs can be so useless.
One thing that surprised me though was how emotional I felt the whole time I was there. I've told people about DS's birth a thousand times but each time I had to say anything yesterday I could just feel my face pull tight and some tears trying to fight their way out. i didn't really cry or anything but I'm sure people noticed my face went a bit funny. Maybe it was because so far I have not really focused on the new baby much yet, all my attention goes to Thomas. Or maybe I was just tired or maybe I soaked up all the other ladies' pg hormones. Who knows...

I have today off and I just took T to nursery. It's lovely being at home, having nothing to do. The weather is crap so I think I might have a nice bath.

Have a good day everyone.

Tickle · 01/12/2005 10:45

Nice Christmas names girls!! Will have to start thinking (but suspect brain is too far gone for that...)

Thanks for the new thread SK

Happy belated birthday Iris, sounds like you had a fab day I have been dying for a pedicure, but was ill when I had one booked in France

Know what you mean Eshay about not focusing on the new baby - I feel a bit guilty sometimes that I haven't spent much time chatting with him, but I guess that will come!

Off to be useful See you later x

GeorginaP · 01/12/2005 12:01

Hi Girls

Can't think of Christmas name.... brain just too far gone I'm afraid! But admire those that can

Yipppeeee, stitch coming out on 19th..... so if they really furtle around in there it might spark something off..... who knows. Not actually looking forward to it as they don't use any painkillers.... and it bloody hurt last time.

Me and DD having slobby day. She woke up at 2.21am after a bad dream and couldn't get back to sleep until about 5ish.... not sure why. I heard here padding around outside our room getting back into her bed, getting up again. She wasn't crying, just restless ...so none of us got much sleep. Am sure we'll both collapse on the sofa after lunch. Poor DH is totally cream crackered.

BTW - anyone got an exciting recipe for pork chops?!? want to cook something special for DH tonight as poor bloke on his last legs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IRIS. sounds like you had an amazing day. Must book myslef in for pedicure.

AM getting rather excited about being on the home straight. Can't quite believe that I've got here in one peice.

Hope everyone's and pains are manageable today. Know what you mean about John wayne and peeing all the sodding time!

We're nearly there ladies

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 01/12/2005 12:02

hi wow loads of posts already I remember being at work the alst couple of weeks and I spent most of it on mumsnet too.

Well midwife has been and gone, discussed homebirth and all that I'll need, have to notify the fire brigade as we will have the oxygen and gas and air cylinders in the house. Midwife thinks I'll get to 39 weeks I can't see it myself. I think this one's going to be early too.

She said the dragging, heavy feeling is normal for a second pregnancy and it's all my ligaments moving and my cervix getting ready. She said sorry theres nothing she can do for the SPD/SI pain. I've got to do these rocking exercises and perineal massage as well. Never told her but I'm going to start taking my raspberry leaf tablets this week.

eshay - enjoy your day off, I know what you mean I get quite emotional talking about DD's birth probably because it wasn't that long ago for us too. Can't believe my baby is going to be a big sister, do you feel like this too?

hunker - sorry to hear about your blood sugar and I hope that baby turns soon for you.

Iris - love your christmas name I want to put my decorations up today but DP has put them in the loft!

lyra41 · 01/12/2005 17:48

hello all

yahoo, i've finished work! i'm home now and celebrating with a small glass of wine and some pringles. got a lovely bunch of flowers and some john lewis vouchers, so I'll be able to have a nice little spend once babe has arrived.

Rach

I'm missing u on the thread, hope it's going ok at work, not too strenuous with all that travelling.

Iris

have you got sorted with washable nappies yet? I'm gonna wait till afta i think, and get some for when he's a bit bigger, say 8 weeks or so.

not sure wat to do for tea tonite, tempted by a takeaway as don't feel like cooking, but not sure wat to choose. wat are you having?

Rachey1969 · 01/12/2005 18:06

Oh just wrote a massive post and lost it! will try again later...!

lyra41 · 01/12/2005 18:13

Rach

Try going backwards with the button at the top, you might get ur post back that way. Just ordered Turkish t away, meze and lamb kebabs to get my iron up. Yum, can't wait!

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 01/12/2005 18:15

hi all - just a v quickie as just about to eat (Lyra - we're having cajun turkey steaks with jacket spuds peas, green beans & ratatouille (sp!)- would much prefer take away though!!)

Loomer - ty 4 yr CAT - have e-mailed you back re the pool.

bugger! - burning smell! - back l8r!!!!..........

Rachey1969 · 01/12/2005 18:21

Ok, calming down, briefly...! Great to read all your messages, love the new thread.

Think my new name should be Little Miss Christmas Big Tits! Hunker - you once mentioned bravado nursing bras somewhere? Do you recommend em?

Won't re-write the story of all my emotions but believe me, I'm right there with you on all of them! Am I the only one who can't bear to read the childbirth thread?!

Can't wait to finish work (dec 22)but keep thinking of August 14 return date to keep me going! Had a tiring week which is now catching up with me, far too much rich fatty/sugary food eaten too late, hopefully will teach me a lesson before xmas!

Sweetkitty - home birth prep sounds so exciting and Lyra all those new babies too! I know exactly what you mean about worrying about things going wrong, I want him out now! Oh, and those fish tablets - I'm taking them with a meal (apart from the half packet Billy ate - he now has the most sparkling eyes..!)

Georgie - PMSL at the kitchen sink telling off - I always used a washing up bowl! How daft do they think you (and every mother across the globe and history) are? Have you tried yoghurt? It's a bit thicker than milk, prune activa works for me, although I'm still loving gavison advance 'cool' tabs

Chuffed - you let others help! When dd was born and the boys were 22 mnths and nearly 4 they loved her so much they were forever bouncing her chair, swinging her crib, feeding her wosits or vigorously scrubbing her head! It was easier to just take her round with me in a chair or carrycot - even to the loo! I will try the playpen though to keep babe away from Billy!

Oh bum, I have to rustle up a squirrel costume by tomorrow - I'd assumed by now the school had one sorted, better go and find something/anything - the boys are making bolognese (again!).

PS Belated Happy Birthday Iris!

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 01/12/2005 22:06

Thanks for all your birthday wishes (still on a high....and how old am I!! - oh yes, now on the official countdown to 40! lol)

You lot make me v with all your take aways! but hopefully my regime will stick after the baby's born so I wont have too much to lose. A mate told me today she'd put on 4 stone when pg with her DD so I feel suitably pleased that I'm being forcibly restrained as I'm a right guts normally.

Congrats on finishing work Lyra! Hope you're going to get some rest now before the manic nesting fairy casts her spell!! Like you I've decided to put the washables on hold until he's here. Apparently the local council does trial packs as well as the money back scheme so I may see what they've got first (even though I've pretty well decided on the ones I want). I haven't got a CHristmas prezzie for the new baby as i'm not planning on having him until at least the 2nd week in Jan (hope I've not tempted anything there!!)
SK - I sooo want to put the Xmas decs up this w/e too but DH is adamant that we wait until I finish work (14th) so we can change my treatment room back into a dining room & decorate it at the same time (wahey - a proper table to eat at again!)
Rachey - your Xmas name sounds like one of the Mr Men/Little Miss book titles lol! Are you going to go for it?

Eshay/Tickle - I am so glad you've mentioned that you've not been doing the whole talking/singing thing with your babies either. I was beginning to feel really bad as I've only just started to think of him as a little sentient person in there and have also felt he's been somewhat neglected on the communication front. Hopefully things will improve once I've stopped working and have a little more time to focus on him.

Anyone got any new bump photos to put on the Yahoo site yet? Am going to get DH to take a couple for posterity over the weekend so will stick them up for you.
Anyway - need to go & brave the rain to post some stuff to catch the early collection. x

chIRIStmasfairybigpants · 01/12/2005 22:13

OMG - just re-read what I wrote about the food thing & it's awful - it reads as if I'm insinuating you've all put on weight - NOT what I meant at all!!! (oh how I wish I had previewed first!!)

AwayInAMunker · 01/12/2005 22:17

Rachey, yes, Bravado bras are good - I wear a S++ and am a 34G (give or take!) - they're very forgiving size-wise which is good for milk-related fluctuations!

weesaidie · 01/12/2005 22:32

Crashing your thread... sorry!!

Don't listen to anything that bitter hunkermunker has to say about health visitors!

lyra41 · 02/12/2005 04:09

mornin all

would you look at the time! was so tired last night that I was in bed and asleep by 8pm, consequently here I am wide awake at 4am - not very clever really. I will be returning to my cosy nest soon, but I got up for a cup of horlicks hot chocolate as my stomach was growling very loudly and making lo very active.

i suddendly thought, for all of us web supermarket shoppers, it's probably a good idea to book a delivery slot for shopping close to xmas. you don't need to decide on your shopping, just book the slot to make sure you don't miss out. just a thought.

lyra41 · 02/12/2005 04:12

actually just realised you do have to order something on the tesco home shopping to reserve your slot, but you can just order 1 thing and add to it nearer the time.

lyra41 · 02/12/2005 04:43

night night

i'm off to bed again now. wish me zzzzzzz's.

Rachey1969 · 02/12/2005 07:28

Morning! Lyra - hope you are back in the land of nod! I've been tossing and turning and got up an hour ago with things going round in my head. Thanks for reminding me about Tesco, I have been working my way through the codes!

Let's try the name thing..

LittleMissRACHEYXmasBigTits · 02/12/2005 07:32

Now, do I have to log out to make this work?
