Hello, not sure if there's a similar thread already but just thought I'd create somewhere for nayone else expecting in April 2012?

I actually conceived about 3wks ago but I think this counts as week 5? Just staring to get symptoms - headaches, little stirrings of nausea, getting tired and grumpier than usual lol.

A little bit concerned because I have a LOT of work on from now until October and maybe beyond - and I think I'm just going to want to sleep and puke through it all - hell! :( d'oh.

Hi Everyone

Well I am due on April 3rd according to calculator, hasnt been an easy ride so far. Got pregnant very quickly after coming off the pill (a week!), have had spotting, once episode of heavy bleeding and now back to spotting. 2 internal scans and am anxiously waiting for the next 4 weeks to be over with!!

First pregnancy, so don't know what to expect!! nervous to say the least... Confused

Snowy27 · 24/08/2011 12:06

Hi
Been to the gym and swimming today- didn't work out as hard as usual but I now have stabbing pains at the top of my tummy? Any thoughts?

Sugar26 · 24/08/2011 13:28

Hi all,
Have my booking in appt on Friday, had a very small bleed last week, stopped as soon as it started but have felt very nervous ever since. Have had sciatica AND a throat infection over the last week so have spent a lot of time in bed feeling rubbish.

Lovely that there are so many April babies. Keep positive everyone x x x :-)

whenskiesaregrey · 24/08/2011 14:45

Hi, just a quick one again as still on hol, so still on phone. Really reassuring to here from people all going through the same things! In terms of cravings, I'm still going mad for cheese, but it has to be melted mozzarella! So difficult, as don't really want the food the cheese is melted on, just the cheese itself!

No more bleeding up to now, so hopefully its just one of those things. Do you think its worth me ringing the midwife when I get home to see if everything is ok?

snowy I'd say you stomach pains is possibly as a result of your ligaments relaxing and therefore more likely to overstretch? The progesterone impacts on all the ligaments, unfortunately! I have hyperflexibility in my joints, and already my ankles are sore.

beyond that's a really sad situation :( from your post I picked up that it might not be what she wants? I hope its the right decision for her, what a sad decision to have to make :(

Hope everyone is well and not feeling too sick!

Snowy27 · 24/08/2011 14:54

Thanks! sure its nothing serious just a slight panic- weird that it can affect you so quickly, first time for me so no idea when what I feel is ok and when its not ok!

Just made my first midwife appointment- 25th September, and my first baby book arrive today- been flicking through it, recommends 3-4 servings of veg and 4-5 of fruit, not happening at the moment- unless ketchup and ginger ale count as fruit? :0

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 24/08/2011 18:19

whenskies its not, she wants a baby but thinks now isnt the right time for her, plus her preg is a result of a holiday fling as well, which would be fine if she felt it was the right time, but is just something else on top of the reasons not to go ahead with it. Shes really upset, and I am too for her :(

I feel so awful this afternoon, went to see cousins today with DS and had mcds for lunch and it has not sat well in my stomach all afternoon! Wish I hadnt had it now. Gotta cook tea in a min for when DH gets in from work, trying to get up the courage to cook something, struggling to even think about it. Think I may walk downt the shop for some coco pops though, thats the only thing I think I can eat right now Grin

Ordered some pelvic floor ball things a few days ago to try to improve that, hopefully will be able to have a natural birth then, have been thinking about it and decided I dont fancy an ELCS if at all possible.

Plus I realised I havent told you I'm a bridesmaid (well, matron of honour) at the end of march. I will be the size of an elephant! Trying to help my sister find a maternity dress for me is fun. Hope prawny doesnt come early (DS was overdue so its unlikely...), well not until the day after at least!

Am wittering a bit today, lol! Sorry for huge post Grin

Snowy27 · 24/08/2011 18:21

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability that's so hard :( nothing else to say really.

There are some beautiful maternity style bridesmaid dresses out there!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 24/08/2011 18:27

I have thought to suggest dying my wedding dress, that was a maternity dress too (I'm a busy bee when preg, lol) Grin

Snowy27 · 24/08/2011 18:41

I'm just hoping I fit ok into mine :) should be fine- and hey if I have a bit of a tummy I have an excuse!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 24/08/2011 18:44

Doh, I already told you that didnt I... [preg mush brain]

mysteriousways · 24/08/2011 18:50

Can I please join you. Have been to see my GP today and apparently my due date is 14th April. He was absolutely lovely and I've already been booked in for the midwife in a couple of weeks and given a massive pack of info to read. This will be my first so I haven't a clue what to expect. It's all a bit daunting at the moment!

Snowy27 · 24/08/2011 18:55

mysteriousways hi, it is exciting isn't it! I have no idea what to expect!

What was in your pack (nosy!) I've just had to fill in a form to see a midwife- my appointments on 25 September- I assumed I'd have to see a GP, but apparently not! But I did have to choose where I wanted to give birth Shock

mysteriousways · 24/08/2011 19:11

snowy I am really excited now because it all seems a bit more real. We haven't told anyone yet but it's quite hard to keep it secret! Grin My pack had lots of leaflets about diet, screening tests etc. They also gave me my pregnancy notes booklet and told me to fill in what I can before I see the midwife.

themightyskim · 24/08/2011 19:26

hi Mysterious ways, its my first too, I have pack envy he he all I got was a form like Snowy too, congratulations anyway :o

Empusa · 24/08/2011 19:41

I haven't had a pack yet! Or anything! Still waiting to see the midwife

Also my first, it's all so confusing

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 24/08/2011 19:45

mysterious where are you? I'm in Newport, S wales, I wonder if its an area thing cause I got all my pack already too and green notes to fill in :)
Maybe we should add areas to the list so we can compare the NHS postcode lottery? Wink

mysteriousways · 24/08/2011 19:55

I'm in Birmingham. I was quite surprised that my doctors is so organised considering that I've turned up for appointments to find they have no record of it or have been left in the waiting room for ages only to find the receptionist had forgotten to tell the computer I was there Angry

At least they seem to know what they're doing this time!

Snowy27 · 24/08/2011 20:13

Salford!
Now I have pack envy big time! Midwife sounded nice on the phone (yeayh!) of course could be a complete battle axe!

Anyone know what they do at a first appointment?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 24/08/2011 20:20

The 8w one?
I remember the MW coming to my house and going through my medical history. Not much else... Not even a wee or blood test I think...?

Got just over a week to get the spring cleaning done til my appt Grin

spout · 24/08/2011 20:38

Beyond asos has a sale of maternity clothes at the moment, some stuff is really cheap and there's an extra 20% off by using EXTRA20 at checkout. A couple of the dresses might work for a wedding?

BiscuitChart · 24/08/2011 20:44

snowy i used to live in ordsall! at my 1st ap last time (then had mmc :( ) they just tell you about diet and take blood (ow) and test your urine. took about an hour. i think it's really weird that we've all got such different experiences - i must admit i'm a bit naive and thought as its the NHS it was be standardised!

zwitterion make sure you take it easy - no more panicking! i love your name btw - are you a scientist?

essexmumma try not to worry until you go for your scan, fingers crossed for you hun xx

mysterious it's my first too so v excited to see what happens! at the minute, the concept that i can grow my own baby seems ridiculous and completely unfeasible, like i'm the first in the world to try this out and my brain keeps telling me: 'you can't grow you own child, it can't possibly work, it's more complicated than a potato'.

hmm.

BiscuitChart · 24/08/2011 20:48

P.S. beyond I like this one :) ooohprettydress

Thusnelda · 24/08/2011 20:52

Snowy Last time the midwife called me a couple of days before my booking appointment at the hospital and asked if she could come to the house instead, which was nice. Medical history and blood pressure and dipped a stick in my urine in a smoothie bottle.. And it certainly didn't take three hours like it said it would take in hospital.

VintageNancy · 24/08/2011 21:09

I saw my midwife at my surgery at 5w which I was pretty surprised about, didn't expect it that early - did all the form filling, bloods, urine. She's coming to mine tomorrow to re-do blood tests as she mis-labelled it apparently Shock.

I must must resist the ASOS sale - maternity or otherwise!

How's everyone feeling? Second day of pretty constant nausea for me. I did go to work today though as jet lag pretty much sorted and I slept fine last night. Decided to tell my boss today and she was fine - she's keeping it to herself for now and we'll let her boss/HR know at 12 weeks.

biscuit no no no not philly, it must be cheddar Wink.

BiscuitChart · 24/08/2011 21:13

vintage you might be right, i had some lancashire from morrisons that said it tasted like 'a hint of vanilla icecream'...could there be anything nicer?!
