I love Hector, Alps. Was on our longlist. How about Victor?

Occy try looking at the Baby Names threads but prepared to be offended Grin. And we printed off the top 1000 names list and went through it to give us ideas.

Truffkin · 24/08/2011 18:33

Re: disposable pants. I was referring to 'normal' pants but very cheap ones that will get thrown away. To me, paper pants say 'spray tan' which is not really what I want reminding of after giving birth Grin

Thanks for the tip Wol I shall add haemorrhoid cream to the list.

I cannot imagine for a second that I will actually receive a diamond and in fact, am keener on Scorp's example of an ipad. Of course, I will have my baybee so will have no need for other frivolous gifts (but who would say no to a shiny new diamond really?)

I think we might need to start the name conversation properly (ok, I am conceding that watching the credits on everything and saying in a serious voice, 'so how about Didier for a boy?' is not serious in the spirit of actually deciding on a name for our offspring) but am in the same camp as you Occe as we don't agree on anything. I have a very common name that I've always wished were more 'exotic' (not like Chardonnay or anything, just less common) and TGB has a name that everyone pronounces incorrectly as he lives in England and it's Irish. So we approach name selection from opposite ends of the 'what is a good name' spectrum. I, for example, like Norah, which he hates. He likes Matthew, which although a perfectly acceptable name, is a little too common place for my choosing. Tis an awful lot of pressure Hmm

I love Hector alps, fight for it!

BrownB I just don't know what to say. It is such a shit situation and I feel so badly for all of you. What an awful woman. It's just so fucking unfair.

BrownB · 24/08/2011 19:25

Upon reflection... I may take my last off here and stick it in the other place. This feels very public. Suffice it to say, I'm in a bad place and am not very happy about things. I want to talk about granny pants and how cool the name Hector is, but am my heart is not quite in it right now. Thanks Muse.

rocketleaf · 24/08/2011 19:50

Oh Brownie what a complete crock of shit the situation is. I am so sorry this is happening to you, awful at anytime but especially when you should be concentrating on the new life to come. I don't know what else to say. I;m so sorry. :(

LadyGoneGaga · 24/08/2011 20:18

Sad Brownie. This is all too, too vile. I can't really offer you any practical advice here but she is being thoroughly and needlessly nasty. Try not to worry about the financial situation until you get to that point. Deal with one thing at a time or it will overwhelm you.

Truffkin · 24/08/2011 21:03

Oh Brown how utterly horrible for you to have to be dealing with and that poor boy being made to feel so pressed upon. She sounds simply dreadful. I'm sending lots of love and hugs to you and really hoping you can enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible.

Please do stay if you need to, you know we're here for you.

Ariesgirl · 24/08/2011 21:22

I'm so sorry Brownie. What an awful thing :( And the poor little boy. Good God. I'm so sorry.

BrownB · 24/08/2011 23:56

Watching The Apollo Live helped. Thanks guys - I appreciate the support. Right now, we're hoping for the best, but trying to plan for the worst, and it is a bit overwhelming. It's all very fresh, so hopefully a few days will put enough space for me to be able to take things more as they come.

Meanwhile, my womb is the size of a cantaloupe. Apparently. 'tis about up to my belly button. Not really showing significantly although am pretty much out of my pre-pregnancy trousers. As for my granny pants...

AlpinePony · 25/08/2011 07:25

brownie that's all very shit (bar the lovely holiday). What does little miss fantasy think she's going to do for money to put food on the table? Why can't the lazy twat work? Very few people are genuinely unable to do 'something'. That poor little boy.

AIBU and bitchy to suggest that whilst Kate silverton's maternity wear is gorgeous it's time for her to 'size up'? (Ignores size of own arse)

Do any of you know how to tie the dreaded IO top rather than simply tossing the wrap over your shoulders a la Dr who Tom baker era? ;)

Physio was pleasantly surprising, no manipulations yest, but her goal is to get me back in the saddle before end of pregnany, which I'm pleased about. No sofa for me! ;)

AlpinePony · 25/08/2011 07:26

BTW I have felt my baybee kick which I was not expecting for ages given the position of the placenta, but am chuffed obviously!

AlpinePony · 25/08/2011 08:53

Oh and just because it's all me, me , me this morning - truffs - your real name is/was on our list but has been vetoed by moi because it's the name of his previous serious ex. Hmm Much in the same way we will never have a child named . Wink

BrownB · 25/08/2011 09:41

Hey Alps... No worry about the MeMeMe stuff. My MeMeMe stuff is just below...! And am very jealous of feeling the kicking already. On my scan five weeks ago I also had an anterior placenta

As for the fantasy where she goes to Italy and everything suddenly gets all better... For food - apparently her mother grows vegetables... this was in the court documents and everything...

The only way she's going to get money it to extort it from my OH. So, she's going to be all guns blazing on that front. Hence one of the branches of my anxiety. He barely earns enough to support himself, pay his enormous debt incurred to pay legal fees and support contact with his son. Let alone supporting her. And then there's the minor issue of a new baby, and maternity leave and the fact that I will no longer earning a full income in a pretty short space of time

macaroonie · 25/08/2011 13:08

oh B... i've messaged you on f-crack. x

As for names... it was so hard. We didn't agree on anything and the name we chose for cheeriO was the only half-acceptable one. I like it though. We had all the probs with spelling and pronuniciation in both languages, but mostly the difficulty was because TIS has awful taste in names.

Truffkin · 25/08/2011 14:44

Alps I'm a leetle bit gutted that the real life ex has vetoed my name being used for an esh-baybee. That would just be the acest. It appears that Elvis is a new fave, oh and did I mention Lando? I think I must have as I've moaned talked of it so much. TGB would genuinely love to call our first born child Lando if a boy, after Lando Calrissian from Star Wars. My argument is that it's not a 'real' name. Unfortunately my Mom says it has 'grown on her' and the more he talks about it, the less ridiculous it sounds in my own mind Hmm

Brown can we create a voodoo doll of evil witch ex and get your lovely SS back that way?

It's my last day at work today for 10 whole days in a row. Then on my first day back I have a midwife appointment so will be in late morning. This is getting me through an otherwise horrendous day where I have only managed to complete one thing on my to-do list and I really need to get them all done, if I am to switch off completely for the next 10 days. I'm usually really shit at being off work and have horrible tendencies to check email throughout any time off. I am absolutely determined not to do that this time as I am desperate for the break. The last time I had a week off was last July when I went to Marbella for a friends' wedding and that was not a holiday of the relaxing kind (but it was massively fun).

Tomorrow I am starting my holiday in style by having a facial, manicure and hair done. I actually winced in the lift this morning when I saw the white line of doom in my parting - long overdue.

Ocarina · 25/08/2011 18:11
Medee · 25/08/2011 22:30

I went to see avenue q 3 days before due date. Very glad I took the risk and bought the tickets.

Truffkin · 25/08/2011 22:51

Right that's it, the list is complete; my out of office is on and I am on my holibobs! I got home about an hour ago and have had my dinner, now watching Torchwood before turning in for an early night. TGB is out for work drinks so I should be able to nod off before he comes home and starts drunken snoring Grin

My work colleagues have booked time in the week before I start maternity leave to have a little 'leaving' shindig for me and I get to choose somewhere o go for afternoon tea. Am most excited but think I am just spoiled for choice. I've been to the Dorchester before but have also heard good things about The Langham, Wolesley and Ritz - what a lovely dilemma to be faced with!

Brownington I didn't feel any movement until week 22 and as far as I am aware my placenta is not in the way of anything! Of course the little monkey is making up for a late start now and enjoys performing disco routines at 3am, or at least that's what it feels like. Still, am looking forward to spending a bit of quiet time getting to know the movement pattern this week as I feel like I miss a lot when I'm busy at work and don't notice.

Oche sorry to hear the trainer shopping caused you so much pain but congrats on the purchase. I quite like shopping when I can just wander around browsing but always struggle when I have something I really need to get. I end up getting flustered and not being able to find anything suitable. I am also not good at shopping in company, much better solo.

Right, have waffled enough. I am sure I shall be back tomorrow to report on my hairdresser experience as I'm trying somewhere new. I've been home colouring for quite a while so am excited but also a little apprehensive - so long as I don't come out with stripey hair I shall be satisfied.

BrownB · 26/08/2011 00:13

Drunken snoring going on next to me... ffs.

laurielou · 26/08/2011 07:42

Truufs Happy Holibobs! Enjoy the hairdressers too - sounds a perfect start to your break.

Brownie hope you managed to get some kip - a sharp boot to the shins would've helped.

AlpinePony · 26/08/2011 15:46

Fellow differs - has anyone got any recommendations on maternity jeans? Cost irrelevant as only cheap shops do my size.

medee what is/are avenue q? Am I not down with the kids?

macaroonie Same problem this end, if I were to be left in a coma after childbirth I'd awaken to find that he'd registered Tyler Jayden Liam Tyke III. :( I actually think Liam is lovely - especially as it only clicked a few years ago that it's short for William - durrrr. But it doesn't have the best associations does it?

truff that's really nice of your colleagues. Mine are (for the best part) utter cocks and I was really fucked off with them when I had Bear that they didn't do anything... then I found out a few months later that my boss's wife had breast cancer during that time and my work-bezzer's baby had meningitis - so they had other things on their mind than admiring my baybee. Blush

brownie Whilst growing own fruit & veg, free-range eggs, slaughtering own lambs is very much acceptable and "normal" for that part of the world - they don't heat the house, empty the gutters, clothe the baby or even pay for fucking tampons! Hmm Could you and your baby-daddy make a better living outside of London/UK? I know Edmonton was recruiting "your type" a few years ago. And you might get a horse rather than a car.

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend? No bank holiday here but going out with friends tomorrow night to my favourite local resto. Virgin daiquiris my arse. [sob]

Truffkin · 26/08/2011 18:09

Alps the only place I've found maternity jeans I get on with has been Next. I favour the 'under the bump' kind and they are the only ones that stay up, plus they just have the jersey bits in the pockets so don't look obviously maternity, which I like. I've tried New Look, Mamas & Papas, Dorothy Perkins, Mothercare and even IO now and Next are definitely my favourite.

Hopefully your colleagues might be better placed to do something nice this time to mark your mat leave absence? Mine are good and we all get on well so do a fair bit of socialising. It's been quite stressful at our place recently so the number of events has increased in direct proportion to how much letting of steam has been required.

Medee · 26/08/2011 22:55

It is a hilarious puppet-based musical - think Sesame Street for grown-ups.

Medee · 26/08/2011 22:55

Itfeatures such musical numbers as "the internet is for porn", "everyone is a little bit rascist" and "what use is a BA in English"
