Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kat2504 · 22/08/2011 17:34

Woo Hoo! I have had my first ever nice ultrasound scan. I have a little six week lodger which my womble has not evicted. I now have some clexane to try to keep it in there. Early days yet but I am so relieved :)

Kat simply fabulous news, knew the womble would get the hang of it in the end! I hope the menkul can wind down just one notch now and only 6 more weeks until you see the bab again but actually looking like a bab instead of a wotsit (well, that's what mine looked like at 6 weeks anyway!)

I don't think I'm friends will Wol on Face crack. Next time you're around Mama Owl, pluz to PM me your deets so I can add you for squeeing purposes? Thanking you.

So I enjoyed my hotel plan, although I didn't make it back until nearly 3am. Lots of people bailed quite early and I felt bad about that so I stayed out. Nightclubs when sober are scary places aren't they though? I had a bit of a boogie and the hen was on top form plus I had a cup of tea and watched the cricket highlights when I got back. Rock 'n' roll all the way for me. The bed was so comfortable that I slept past the 11am checkout time and had to race around to get out and catch my train Blush

Am cream crackered today though and shortly off to bed to try to sleep off the suitcases under my eyes this morning!

PollyCrystalTits · 22/08/2011 23:22

Brilliant news on your beautiful boy Booty. I love the name too but then I am rather fond of bird names. Wink

Congrats on the lodger Kat, there is a RL baybee in there!

Truffs I'm glad you enjoyed the weekend, sounds like a great one. I, on the other hand, went c*mping with Boo. Never again. I'm off to bed now. If I can tear myself away from Bridget Jones that is. It doesn't matter how many times I watch that film - I luff it every time.

laurielou · 23/08/2011 07:59

Kat that's wonderful news. Now a different kind of menkal commences. But a good one Smile

MrBitey · 23/08/2011 09:39

Squee at gorgeous little owlet, congratulations boots you DHB you! Congrats to katkin too, lovely news!

Luffs I mean Chinese burns all round, on iPod as bb is unputdownable again so can't write much, am lurking though as best I can!

BarbiesBeaver · 23/08/2011 10:23

Yay for the arrival of the OwlChick!

Kat have posted boring Clexane info in the fightclub. If you get another scan in two weeks you will see a genuine jellybaby in there (that's what mine looked like).

Muser · 23/08/2011 10:28

Yay for a good scan kat, it's an ace feeling isn't it?

owlbooty · 23/08/2011 10:59

Whoop whoop Kitty am v.v.pleased the scan was good :)

Truffers I will send you message for squeeing :)

Rocket no, no scan but he was already taking regular trips down to SCBU for antibiotics so we just nipped down there and the paediatrician listened to him (I think it was a consultant) - the scans didn't seem to be an urgency. Thank god. And yes, I did cack myself when the first doctor told us.

LadyGoneGaga · 23/08/2011 14:19

That's fantastic news on the good scan, Kat. Lovely to see the little HB flickering away. These first 12 weeks are so f'ing long, aren't they. Hope the little one is now safely bedded in.

I've just been to Softplay with the lovely FannyP and her beautiful (and well behaved) children. MiniG however let the side down and is in disgrace for clobbering another child (thankfully not one of Fanny's).

MadameBoo · 23/08/2011 16:11

We should meet up Geegee and let our 4 year olds battle it out together :o

MadameBoo · 23/08/2011 16:12

crap typo. I meant 3 year olds. Or next year...

LadyGoneGaga · 23/08/2011 16:21

That would be lovely Boo. Provided we can sneak in alcohol in sippy cups (purely for medicinal purposes) Grin. You're not too far away in any case. Will message you.

Truffkin · 23/08/2011 17:26

Thanks Wol I have indeed squeed myself silly so thanks for that! He's a beaut and you look fab.

So someone in my birth group has had their baby (eek - all ok so far though, baby doing well) and this has slightly freaked out TGB. Last night he started a conversation about how we should 'really think about getting organised' and upon being questioned he elaborayed along the lines of, 'don't you need to pack a bag of stuff. You know what happened with your internet friend'

It was very sweet. AIBU (and quite cruel) to have just sent him a very long list of 'stuff' including things like 'heavy duty maternity pads' and 'nipple shields' to start him thinking?

rocketleaf · 23/08/2011 17:38

I also don't think I am FB friends with you wol which is an oversight on my part as I thought I was (see above post Blush) It might not be on yours tho! :s will send you a PM with my deets, feel free to ignore them if you want to. (also i realise you have slightly more important things to do!)

All sounds like they are very relaxed about littlewol which is vey good. I have to say when we took Sprout for her 6 week check, even tho there was still a tiny hole, the consultant was reassuringly blasé about the whole thing. So we have pretty much forgotten about it til next July.

kat lovely scan news, I know its still early days but it mist be reassuring tho know little kitten is in there. Keeping everything crossed for you.

ESHmeet sounds lovely. I want more ESHmeets!

MadameBoo · 23/08/2011 19:07

I love the TGB scaring list Truffs. Sneak in a few red herrings too?

PollyCrystalTits · 23/08/2011 20:05

truffs don't forget to add a laying present diamond to the list. Tis the law. Wink

Truffkin · 23/08/2011 22:48

Damn Polly I forgot the diamond. He has printed the list out and brought it home! He made a bit of a Hmm noise at nipple cream Grin

I'm quite looking forward to buying 'snugglebabe hooded towels' although less so about the disposable pants.

MadameBoo · 23/08/2011 23:12

Did anyone use paper pants? I bought cheap big pants from tesco. No scratchy pants were going near my bum TYVM :o

Am Envy of anyone who actually got a diamond though. My mate's husband bought her a Nintendo DS. She was not impressed.

AlpinePony · 24/08/2011 09:00

Disposable pants? Yes, those are the 5-pack from Asda for 1.50! Wink

I got a diamond necklace from JB's mum. Blush He asked if it was a realy diamond and I said "of course not, look at the size of it!" and his mum said "errrr, it is actually". BlushBlush Hence I never wear it because I'm terrified of losing it.

How is brownowl doing?

I am delighted to see katkin here who may or may not be going around dirty sanchez'ing her man (whose comedy name I forget) and demanding to know if it smells "different".

Ocarina · 24/08/2011 10:59

Yay for the good scan news Kat. How long till the next one?

I don't think I ever scared TH with the contents of my hospital bag (I took my sister shopping for all the bits I didn't know anything about), maybe I'll do that when I send him to Boots with a shopping list after we're home! Come to think of it, I don't think I've mentioned diamonds to him either (but then I wear jewellery so rarely there's probably no point anyway unless it was something I'd wear all the time). I suspect his very practical answer would be that this baby's had enough money spent on him/her without adding in expensive things for me.

owlbooty · 24/08/2011 13:34

I got debenhams granny pants (5 pack) - they are ace.

Managed to get out of house today to walk with pram to pharmacist's and co-op. Bollocks to diamonds, I want a bloody medal. preferably made of finest belgian chocolate. Or brie.

Truffers splendid list, don't forget the piles cream and lactulose Grin

rocketleaf · 24/08/2011 14:33
Ocarina · 24/08/2011 15:14

I am currently concluding that thinking about names is hard work. It feels like such a big responsibility. I'm caught between wanting to go for something safe and familiar, and thinking it would be nice to be slightly unusual. Add in my indecision about whether I could go for a very Scottish name when this child will be half English but living in Scotland (and will have a Welsh surname - go figure!) and I'm not doing very well. Plus anything I like TH seems not keen on and vice versa.

Methinks we should've thought about this more ages ago but it's a bit late for that. So how did the rest of you go about choosing names/how are you going about it?

AlpinePony · 24/08/2011 15:52

Ocarina - we gave our son a very Scottish name - and the irony is, his father has the English name and the Scottish accent and I've got the Scots names and the English accent - furthermore we don't live in the UK of course. So for us, it had to be something which was going to be easy to pronounce, I didn't want foreign tongues stumbling over it.

It's funny really - I saw his middle name on the "try hard" thread on babynames - and yes, it is fucking try hard it Putney I suppose, but north of Berwick - very fucking normal! Wink

We haven't got a bloody clue if this one's a boy - we used up our boy's names and he won't let me have Fergus or Hector. :(
