Jeez, spoke too soon. BugBoy awake. Honestly, he goes from 0 - 60 in seconds Grin

Scorpette · 09/08/2011 20:48

Loz, they have a sixth sense for when their mummy relaxes. Be prepared to find yourself wailing more than BugBoy does after his jabs - good luck!

Smooches to all and extra-safe snogs to all the London ESH xxxx

Truffkin · 09/08/2011 23:07

Yo hags

Kat great news on the 3+ I also very much enjoyed that moment Grin

Alps Barbie hope the scans went well today, although Barbs even though it probs felt like months, am hoping you meant 12 weeks!!

My midwife phoned in sick yesterday but everyone neglected to tell me until I enquired how late she was running after waiting for 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time Sad This means I did not pass go and collect a MAT B1 form, but luckily working in HR does have its' perks sometimes and being a little less by the book in terms of timings / notification of mat leave is one of them I have a GTT on Friday, due to the big fat bird get's diffed ishoos. I was hoping to get weighed at my appointment yesterday as I feel like my stomach has been through a bit of a growth spurt this week. Maybe they will do it on Friday just to confirm genuine massive fatness Wink

Wol am doing a labour-vibes dance for you. Hoping the chim-chim-erneee (too tenuous?) works wonders for you.

Hooray for less sore nips Bitey but boo hiss to vomming husbands. The foot dragging one certainly owes you one when he recovers.

Things feel a bit calmer in London tonight, well the bit I live in at least. Has been pretty tense really and last night we again went to sleep with sirens ringing nearby. A couple of shops on our 'high street' had windows smashed but thankfully nothing like other areas have seen in the last few days. Lost of agencies in town closed at lunchtime today so everyone could go home, so our traders had a quiet time this afternoon. Am hoping things will calm down so we can start to clean up and re-build. I just cannot get my head around why anyone could possibly want to trash their own neighbourhood and do their community out of jobs / livelihoods / homes etc. Is sickening. Hope everyone is keeping safe.

AlpinePony · 10/08/2011 09:13

Scan was absolutely 100% fine - got to see my baybee again which is always good and heard a good "boy's speed" hb! Grin barbie results will be with me in ~1 week - but am not unduly worried as all seemed present and correct - although of course there are no guarantees. Good luck with the 20-week scan today - you will be absolutely blown away by what you see! Have you had "the chat" about what you might do if it's not all positive? We didn't with Bear and it was only afterwards we admitted to each other that we just didn't really know what we'd have done. So I think this time around we will discuss it first.

truff Despite being 'NORMOUS, I never had any GD ishoos - they'd like to of course shoehorn you in to a "fat bird's disease" if they can. Wink

My IO stuff still hasn't arrived.

AlpinePony · 10/08/2011 09:48

Oh and also in further proof that I'm diffed, I um, crashed the car at the hospital. I was feeling a bit light-headed and weird so decided to park at the top of the multi-storey, pulled in to a place and um... only the barrier stopped me. Thankfully it was a sturdy barrier and not just a fence otherwise we'd have plunged over the edge to our almost certain deaths. Blush We had to pop the bonnet and strap some stuff down which sort of "fell out". :(

owlbooty · 10/08/2011 10:36

Oooh, did not see BB had scan as well. Good luck lovely x

Alps I crashed Mr Boots' van - welcome to the differ's DrivingFail club. I believe Bites is also a member Grin Veh glad that crash barrier was sturdy though and that you are okay, that would have been exceptionally shit otherwise.

Truffs the helicopter and sirens were out in Oxford last night as well - Oxford FFS! Anyone round here who claims they are a disaffected youth is a lying twat; they are just using it as a shit excuse to break stuff. I hate them lots and want to apply very big tasers.

No sweepage here or anything else for that matter due to MW shortage. I conclude that they aren't too worried I am about to drop dead or anything as I rang them and they couldn't squeeze me in anywhere - meaning I haven't seen a MW since last Friday. Am going for routine bloods today though and will have to get HCA at GP surgery to do them. AIBU to suspect they are actually storing up a giant vat of my bodily fluids somewhere for evil research purposes? They've had literally pints of blood/urine from me in the last month. May actually get to see MW tomorrow. Perhaps there will be sweepage then; hopefully.

MadameBoo · 10/08/2011 11:16

Bloody hell Alps please to park on the bottom floor next time? Glad you are ok and scan went well, am thinking of Barbie, is she finding out the flava?

My word *Wol, aint you dropped that sprog yet?

MadameBoo · 10/08/2011 11:16

Wol

laurielou · 10/08/2011 12:38

Bllody hell Alps get the bus next time, eh? Grin. Glad scan looked all good.

laurielou · 10/08/2011 12:38

Bloody even......

AlpinePony · 10/08/2011 14:21

Really owly? hehe - I didn't realise that this was a common theme amongst PESH! Grin I just can't believe I did it - on the plus side it's our veh ancient car we're getting rid of anyway and not a 50k merc straight off the forecourt!

I had to get bloods done yesterday obv. - my number flashed up so I nipped in to the cubicle only to be met with the 14 year old I can only assume, work-experience boy. He ineffectually tapped at my inner arm for a minute before I said "listen toots, nobody has ever taken blood from my arm, it'll have to come from my hand and this is not a challenge for you to go at my elbow like a chinese sewing machine!". I could hear people sniggering outside and lo, he scooted off and returned with an older nurse (my favourite type!) who managed to take blood without even bruising me. Kudos to her!

owly I thought you were laying as you'd gone quiet y'see.

Got my Boden order today - I know , just how middle-class am I? Wink In my defence it was the only fecking website which would take my freebie visa card - anyway, the maternity leggings in the sale (13 quid) are gorgeous, ever so soft, very long (at least on me ) and absolutely fucking mahoosive. If anyone wants to share - i.e., we both wear them at the same time - give me a shout.

owlbooty · 10/08/2011 15:35

I haf bought one thing from Boden - a tunic - and of all the things I bought that's the only one that people have all commented on how nice it looks - and it's fitted me right up to the bitter end as well. Wish I'd invested in their leggings too as none of my 'maternity' leggings now go around my middle without causing breathing difficulties and reflux.

Am not laying, but have this afternoon discovered epic stretchmarks have appeared from nowhere on the underside of the bump. This is very shitty as I thought I might get away with it but should have known that that was highly unlikely. Am not impressed. Bah and indeed humbug.

Lozza did you give BugBoy the gin or the calpol? I think I'd have gone for the gin Grin

MadameBoo · 10/08/2011 19:09
BarbiesBeaver · 10/08/2011 19:13

Drive by to say all looks good at scan, phew. Was very cool seeing heart legs brain etc. Couldn't see bits as baby had legs pressed together, much to my mums disappointment!

rocketleaf · 10/08/2011 19:14

Boo to stretch marks wol I got away with it on tge bunp due to being early BUT my boobs were absolutely ruined even before BFing and now the entire bottom semi circle is one big stretch mark. Lovely!

Fab scan news pone hoping alls also well with babsvag

I haff met sone lovely ESH and ESHspring today. Happy days!!

rocketleaf · 10/08/2011 19:15

X post. Good news b

MadameBoo · 10/08/2011 20:20

BB I reckon it's a girl then. Although I tend to be pretty rubbish at predictions, apart from with my friend who is now diffed with her third - I've done the wedding ring dousing thing on her each pregnancy and have been right every time!

Truffkin · 10/08/2011 22:41

Beauts scan news all round, but yes Alps pliz to be using public transport next time to avoid risk of death? Like the sound of super soft leggings, I think I may need them later on when the weather is cooler. I think I lived in leggings, long tops and boots last autumn/winter and mat leave = casualness ahoy.

I've just got some more Mamalicious stuff from the House of Fraser online sale, which I'm liking muchly. So far, apart from the Next jeans from my sister, this is my favourite maternity stuff.

I am wondering what other stuff I need to buy. Pram and crib sorted now and we have a chest of drawers assigned since our housework day on Sunday (rock n indeed, roll) but apart from the breast pump (am still convincing myself that it's ok the spend nearly 100 smackaroonies on the Medela swing) what do I need? My mother has a chest full of vests / sleep suits / nappies etc to deliver nearer to the time and it still feels too early to buy a 'coming home outfit' type thing. So is there really nothing for me to buy? Good for my bank balance, but feels unnerving. Do I need a plastic bath or neckerchief shaped bibs?? The Jojo Maman Bebe catalogue tells me so, but really?

Much quieter round these parts last night and tonight. Birmingham lis scary though. I can't imagine the kid driving that car went out to kill anyone and is now up for triple murder. It's absolute nonsense.

Backinthebox · 10/08/2011 22:50

Quickly diving in from the CRESH here - I, ahem, took the wing off a Volvo, of all things, in the pre-school car park whilst diffed. I thought they were meant to be indestructible? As it is a professional requirement for me that I do not crash things, ever, we will thank the lord that I have a job differs can't do. The very exact same week, another woman who eventually gave birth the same day as me wrote her little Italian-mobile off completely. And I believe Cluck had a prang too. Perhaps a bit of a crash is compulsory for all second pregnancies?

rocketleaf · 10/08/2011 22:52

Truffs, why do you need an electric breast pump? I would hold off buying that until after as you might not even need to express. Or you might not be able to breast feed (sorry don't mean to be negative but its a possibility I didn't even consider and it nearly happened to me) I'd get the medela hand pump and see how you get on with that first (works much better for me than the hospital grade medela double pump!) You could save yourself a tonne and its a little less scary! plus the bottles/valves will be usable with the Swing and its portable for taking out and about so you would still use it if you decide to invest later.

You really don't NEED much for a new born although there are a lot of nice to have things. We use a baby bath every day but only because we were given it. You can just as well use the sink when small and the bath when they are a bit bigger. I would say nice things to buy are mobile and dangly things for above the cot/pram etc and an activity mat/gym thingy. Sprout has loved stuff like that from day one and you can chalk it up as 'education' :o

rocketleaf · 10/08/2011 22:54

I didn't crash but I did fill the diesel car up with petrol just after my 12 week scan. I was a little distracted. alps thank f**k for those barriers is all I can say!

Scorpette · 10/08/2011 23:30

Wol, if it helps, every single medical person who saw my lower half from about 5 months onwards saw fit to tell me that I had the worst stretch marks they'd ever seen. Angry Blush One tactful MW even recoiled, screeching 'bloody hell!' when she saw my bump and told me they were far worse than a woman pg with triplets she'd seen (yeah, cheers for that) Sad They go from my ribs to my vulva and the ones under my bellybutton are actually wider than a finger. It looks like Freddy Kruger's face down there. So if your stomach skin isn't disgusting trained professionals you're probably alright :)

(Sorry, turned that into a moan about my crap, as I will never have sex again as I am too grotesque to ever allow TYF to see me naked)

Truffs, you will inevitably buy some stuff you won't need or baby won't like. We were so squee to buy T a bouncy chair but he hates the fucker. You can never have enough baby vests. Also, scratch mitts disappear into the alternative dimension that eats socks, so get plenty. My top product is Green Baby nappy balm - we Use it after every nappy change and Mr T. has not had one smidgen of nappy rash.

MadameBoo · 10/08/2011 23:47

Scorps we used that and I agree with it's utter brilliance- he had nappy rash only once ever ever ever. Magical stuff!

SilverSky · 11/08/2011 00:28

Wonder if it works on eczema in the groin area? MB not me.

I can't sleep. Nose is blocked yet running.

owlbooty · 11/08/2011 08:49

Oh Scorps you poor lovely. I hope you nutted the rude MW, that is well out of order! As if you didn't have enough to contend with whilst diffed.

Truffles I bought a hand pump after spending an inordinate amount of time researching exactly what you've been looking at - the way I see it, if the breast-feeding goes tits up, so to speak, it's easy enough to buy one then on amazon without even leaving the comfort of your bed.

Am muchly cheered to see the number of ESHies who have pranged their cars whilst diffed. It must be a rite of passage. Go us Grin

BB that is top news and am so pleased scan went well - also nice to see that MiniBarbs continued the long tradition of fooking about at scans and not letting you see what is going on. I reckon it's a boy. Twill be exciting finding out; are you going to have another scan or is that your lot now?

In laying news, I am not laying. But there was (apols for grossness) an excess of pant snot this morning which may or may not have been mucous plug. I was bleary-eyed and thus am not sure. MW is going for a rummage later. Lucky, lucky MW. Am now heartily bored of being diffed and not being able to breathe properly; it sucks.
