Wish my baby was well behaved and came on his due date. Getting a right grump on - 40+2 and no sign of any movement. He clearly takes after me rather than DH who is the active, always doing something one.

lilyraesmommy · 09/08/2011 16:45

hi ladies just a quick question i am 38 weks today and booked in for a section a week thursday i am finding im getting a chinese burning feeling down below cant remember having this with dd and went 41 weeks starting to get so uncomfortable to walk as well is this a normal thing lol x

leilandri your pics are gorgeous, congratulations and well done, it brought tears to my eyes imagining your little boy in his suit, im crying at everything at the moment!

RugbyWidow7 · 09/08/2011 19:48

COngrats Yucana, littlemiss, Mrs vidic, impatient, firwala, alliwant !!! THink that's everyone. So exciting.

well I have now had a show, and BH / back ache / pelvic pain increasing. Come on baby. 38+2 now. And Ready!!!

MrsBB1982 · 09/08/2011 20:47

I'm with you neverlookback. Crying at all sorts. In an attempt to cheer me up DH found a animated animal movie which he thought looked a bit like Madagascar/Ice Age for some light hearted fun. Think it was called Animals United.

Sadly the 750 year old Galapagos turtles died and I blubbed - not even a little sparkly eyed - a full on shoulder shaking blub, runny nose and all. I am so glamorous at the moment it's painful!

MrsBB1982 · 09/08/2011 20:48

Oh DH also being sweet has cooked a lovely dinner however it is fuel for a disaster

Haddock with poached egg and asparagus.

I am now guaranteed to go into labour so if my horrific wind doesn't kill people (haddock burp or egg fart anybody) then the asparagus wee certainly will Grin

jspark123 · 10/08/2011 10:10

Well, getting a little fed up now, 40+4 today, no twinges or signs at all, LO is obviously far too comfy in there despite my best efforts to do the opposite (was very energetic jumping around at aqua natal last night!)

Congrats to all the many new arrivals x

At least I know it is imminent, they will let me go 12 days over, so next week one way or the other...... Got MW today so may get a sweep booked in.
Wishing everyone well with those who have their bundles or those still waiting x

Anu3 · 10/08/2011 10:25

Congratulations yukana!!!

I'm 40+5 now and bubba seems very happy inside. Went to get a sweep done yesterday but me couldn't do it as bubba is very very low down now! But after some serious action in the bedroom last night ( sorry tmi) ;) I had a pinkish brown show!! Hurrah

I have been given Monday (15th) as a date to be induced - but hoping I go into labour naturally now. Does having a show mean I'll go into labour soon??

Anu3 · 10/08/2011 10:27

Oh lielandri - your little one is gorgeous!!! Bless x

MrsChemist · 10/08/2011 10:33

Congratulations littlemiss, leilandri and Yukana!

Thought DS would be coming last night because the quickest route to the hospital is through the centre of Manchester, and it would be just my luck to have to travel there during the riots. No sign though. I think he's quite comfy in there.

majormoo · 10/08/2011 13:17

Baby billy born at 4am this morning. Waters broke at 11 and contractions got regular at 1.30.made it to birthing centre at 3.15 so just enough time to get in the pool and have him in the water. all very happy although my DD cried apparently when she found out it was a boy. he is gorgeous so hoping she will come round to having three brothers

Anu3 · 10/08/2011 13:32

Congratulations majormoo !!

CappuccinoCarrie · 10/08/2011 14:56

Congratulations majormoo, and any others I've missed along the way!

There's been a baby boom among my RL friends this summer, but the last of those due before me gave birth this morning, so it really is my turn next, yikes!

I've had a few BH but nothing with any regularity and I've got 8 days til due date. DD was 3 days late and DS was 3 days early so I reckon this one'll be bang on time Grin

So sorry for those overdue and frustrated, the waiting game is no fun at all, hope you have your babies sooooon!

Firawla · 10/08/2011 15:44

congrats major moo!! im sure your dd will come round to 3 brothers, the new baby cuteness will probably win her over? :p

good luck everyone else! anu i would have thought with having a show and baby being so low down already that maybe you will be more likely to go into labour naturally, you still have a few days so hopefully thats plenty of time

Annie456 · 10/08/2011 18:21

Sorry to be back on the general pregnancy subject, would love to be bringing a birth annuncement but nowhere near my due date yet (37+4)! just wondered at what stage do people recommend getting measured for nursing bra's? Boobs have got much bigger in the last couple of days so I assume its worth holding out for a little while but not to risk going into labour before i've got them! How many should I get? Is mothercare / M&S best?

Also, has anyone bought specific tops for feeding in or are you just customising / making do with normal clothes? Maternity fashion leaves a lot to be desired and is quite expensive!!

KLou111 · 10/08/2011 18:33

Congratulations Majormoo!!! Wow, announcements coming thick and fast now!!

Any names from those who didn't have any??

Annie I've been told not to bother with the whole BF tops thing, as for bras, went a cup size bigger than 37 weeks, and got mine from Matalan (2 for £10) :)

Due tomorrow, got MW in the afternoon, so hoping she can do something to get this baby OUT! Can't sleep, back killing all night, can't get comfy cos baby in awkward position, so hoping she can do something sooner rather than later.
Have just done a 2 week shop with Tesco, being delivered in the morning, so hoping bubs comes and makes me miss my delivery :)
Had final AN class this morning, was a bit longer than normal, going through all the stuff after baby is born, jabs, registering the birth, bathing baby, changing baby etc etc.
Also went and had my hair cut, thought had better as will be my last chance!

Just a quick question. I have my 40 week appt tomorrow (at exactly 40 weeks) and I was just wondering if I could request a sweep there and then? I am so uncomfy, haven't had a decent nights sleep for ages due to baby lying funny, and it is really doing my head in!

KLou111 · 10/08/2011 18:56

Oh, and do the 'open you up' like when you have a smear with that metal thing? Not sure how it all works TBH lol1

CappuccinoCarrie · 10/08/2011 19:40

klou I believe different midwives and different PCTs have different rules on sweeps, ask and see what happens. I believe its done with the hand, a bit of a James Herriot job, but not sure as thankfully haven't needed one in the past (hoping this baby doesn't take that as a hint that I'd like one Confused)

annie i found I had to buy some tops in a size bigger than usual, partly to accommodate new found norks, partly so they have enough 'give' for lifting them up and there still being a bit of fabric to drape down and cover some of my midriff. I often used nursing vests (although can't find any this time - any hints anyone?) or a bump band to cover my middle when top was lifted. I also had an amazing tank top/nursing bra from Bravado, pricey but wore it all the time. I found the tops I used for nursing were good for nothing at the end of 9m of feeding as they were pretty stretched, so I'm planning to get some cheap ones from tesco/asda rather than wreck nice ones in my wardrobe.

And on bra size, I was basically one cup size bigger than had been in pregnancy, but I found with 3 hourly feeding my boobs were either FULL and massive, or empty and saggy, so although I had some nice bravado bras as well as run-of-the-mill M&S ones I never really found one that fitted nicely except the tank top style ones. Sorry that is in no way helpful is it?!

Leilandri · 10/08/2011 19:59

Congrats Majormoo :)

daisysair · 10/08/2011 20:09

congrats moo

annie I went bra shopping at 36 weeks as I had big boobs to begin with (32E) and found the "one size fits many" option I ordered from the internet, unsupportive-didn't fancy shop traipsing when much more pregnant than i was.
I ended up buying 2 hotmilk bras (34FF) (I allowed room for fingers inside cup, but made sure that the back band had plenty of space to tighten, as you get skinnier again across the back measurement). I really liked the Elle Macpherson bra too but would've needed a 34E in that. I found some on offer in mothercare too that fitted in a 34G (2 pack cost less than hotmilk ones!)... So errm you may well be different sizes in different brands. Another thing to look at is how the cups drop down. Can't remember the brand of bra, but bra fitted lovelily, but cups didn't drop fully down so boobs were distorted when exposed=trouble for mastitis!

KTisPG · 10/08/2011 20:12

congratulations Major

Annie I would recommend getting a couple of cheap vests/spaghetti tops a couple of sizes too big to wear under normal tops, then you can pull these down to keep your tummy/back covered when lifting tops for feeding (or as Carrie says use a bump band). Much cheaper than bf tops and not as obvious either.
