Thanks Purpletoes. My fingers are likewise crossed for you, too. We've got this far so the odds are on the whole in our favour.

Feeling better now; no more pink gunk and since I took my jeans off my tummy feels less crampy. DD has been a peach today: lots of cuddles and kisses for me. That's helped too. And DH said we can have take away tonight.

So any strange cravings out there yet?

louby86 · 29/07/2011 14:12

Fingers crossed ships I've got my scan on Monday too and will be thinking of you! What time is yours? Mines at 8.30am! First appointment so hopefully they will be on time and I won't be too uncomfortable with a full bladder at the same time as trying not to be sick!

Have you had any cravings? I don't think I have, although I have put cheese on pretty much everything I've managed to eat for the last few days!

PamBeesly · 29/07/2011 14:16

Hello lovely ladies, hope all is well with you :) I am counting down the minutes to my scan but just seems so far away not till 17/08

shipsladyg I have cravings for fresh fruit and water like I've never had before, very healthy of course, but the fruit would come in between the chips and crisps :( I have huge aversions rather than cravings, I can't look at meat, milk makes me heave and I've gone off cheese, I'm a bit of a carb addict right now.

BillComptonstrousers · 29/07/2011 14:43

Good afternoon my lovelies!

Well we moved house at the weekend without too much hassle. I will never ever pack my stuff up again, it was soooo worth paying the extra money to have the guys come round and pack it all up for you, they were so quick as well. New house is lovely. so pleased that we are in and lots of lovely shops in walking distance as well which is a bonus Grin

Lovely to hear about all the nice scans, can't wait for mine on the 3rd, it's Dh's birthday so hopefully everything will be ok and there are no nasty suprises waiting for us.

My morning sickness has gone thank god (sorry to those who are still suffering) and I'm making up for it by stuffing my face with anything I can get my hands on Blush but I'm still too knackered to cook on a night so there has been a lot of takeaways recently!

what is everyone up to this weekend? I'm at work tomorrow booooo! but have been a bit lazy at work this morning by watching two episodes of one born every minute while I did some admin stuff Grin

Hey bill my scans on the 3rd too at 8:40! 5 more sleeps!!!

A boring weekend for me. Dh has made a start decorating what will be pips bedroom. We live in an old terrace house and when we decorated what is our bedroom when we moved in it took 4 months! Nothing was bloomin simple. So he's going to carry on stripping the infernal green woodchip that only wants to peel off in tiny little squares while I sit on my arse and do naff all!

BillComptonstrousers · 29/07/2011 16:01

bloody hell mine is not till 2.40pm, I'll be on tenterhooks all day!

My scan is on Tuesday! Getting really excited now, it's seemed such a long wait as I've had my date since 5 weeks. All these lovely scan stories are fantastic!

I seem to be over the sickness now and the only thing I'm still off is tea. I was like this with DD so maybe another little girl is on the cards. A boy would be cheaper though!!

PamBeesly · 29/07/2011 16:12

Are boys cheaper Xavielli I have no clue about any baby costs except the big buys

Xavielli · 29/07/2011 16:22

I have 9 month old baby boy at the moment so clothes would be sorted! On the whole I really do think boys are cheaper. I spend more on my DD than the DSs combined when it comes to clothes. Then she needs hair bands and clips to keep it out of her face. I think there is just so much more choice for girls, so more temptation to buy!

QueenFee · 29/07/2011 16:30

Boys wreak more clothes.. I have lost count of the amount of jeans with holes in the knees. That said I think its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other I think they just have different needs...

Exciting all these 1st scans!

melliebobs · 29/07/2011 16:37

bill the hospital only do dating scans on a Wednesday morning. Picked a nice early one thinking DH could come with me then go to work after and not lose too much time. But he's decided to take the day off and suggested we do our first official bit of shopping at the Trafford centre. I was tempted to ring up and get a later one but I don't think I could calmly wait till later. Not looking forward to necking so much water at that time in the morning and then drive there!

xaviellie I'm off tea too. I'm dying for a brew! So far the only warm drink which I am loving is hot Ribena. Mmmmmm reminds me of walking home from school in the rain

Xavielli · 29/07/2011 17:00

Jeans with no knees make the next summers shorts! A laddered pair of tights and a nail varnish stained top are of no use to anyone... Although perhaps this says more about my DD than anything else lol

louby86 · 29/07/2011 17:26

Aww mellie my DH has decided to take the day off so we can go on a proper shopping trip too! Hopefully everything will be ok and we'll be off to pre order our pram!

gonerogue · 29/07/2011 18:29

Hi Ladies

Just a quick one as we are heading out to Harry potter tonight -

Had my scan today and all is well - only one bean in there - DH has been saying twins for ages so was reassured to see one. Little bub was asleep so the sonographer kept jiggling my tum to wake them up and then there was lots of wriggling at the end so all is good. Nice strong heartbeat too Grin

She said she thought my placenta is posterior but cant say for definite so I'm off to google now.
Good luck to those with scans on Monday

12 weeks (well 11+6 form the scan but I'm sticking with my 12 weeks)

shipsladyg · 29/07/2011 18:51

Excellent! Posterior is good. But then so is anterior. The only difference is that you supposedly feel less kicks on your tummy with anterior through the extra padding.

Xavielli · 29/07/2011 19:53

Posterior just means at the back, anterior at the front. Like ships said either is fine but there is a chance of feeling less movement if it's at the front. It's my understanding that it's more important whether the placenta is high or low (low can effect ability to deliver vaginally)

woowa · 29/07/2011 20:11

On maternity clothes - i'm 6ft tall, and found only one place to buy jeans last time. They've gone out of business :-( I stil have the jeans, but the bump bit must be a bit stretched by a nine-month bump? And i didn't really like one pair of them.

So, if you see any 36" inside leg maternity jeans, let me know! (34" not long enough sadly)

All those going out to shop, enjoy! newbies, do ask our advice for what is worth spending tons on and what isn't! It's amazing what you don't actually need.

Bill, well done for moving house, and good call on the packers. We'll never move without them again either! They even packed dirty washing and washing up!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 29/07/2011 20:17

Hi guys.

So sorry to those who have left the bus, and also jealously happy for those of you who have had your dating scans. Only a week on Wednesday for us, but it feels forever away and the closer I get the more negative/worried I feel. Sad

Oh, and still puking. Had 4 hours sleep 'cos of overnight puking then complete inability to get back to sleep. Made work challenging today and I'm working this weekend too. So doubleSad

shipsladyg · 29/07/2011 20:39

Oh Wicket. Sorry to hear that. Wish I could suggest something.

Bill - yup removal men are fab.

36" leg. Wow. Oh to have as impressive pins.

woowa · 29/07/2011 20:59

ships, they aren't 36" and slender, more like tree trunks, but still, long tree trunks!

EsmeWeatherwax · 29/07/2011 21:51

woowa try here its Long Tall Sally, so not cheap, but 36 in leg length. I'm 5'11, so have many of the same problems! They don't advertise their maternity stuff much, but if you type maternity into the search box on the home page there are a few items.

Hello to everybody! Looks like I'm going to be a once a week poster on here! DD2 has come out with chicken pox, so I'm in a complete paddy, cos I've never had it before, and its not good to get it in early pregnancy. Argh! Waiting on blood test results to see if I am immune...

flapjack77 · 29/07/2011 21:55

Hi ladies, I've not been on much, only seem to get time to read the thread but I never seem to have enough time to post!

We had our scan on wed and all is fine with our bump. The sonographer had me roll over on the bed several times to see if our little bean would move so she could take the measurements, not fun when you've got a full bladder!

Hoping to go shopping on mon for new mat clothes, I wore out the ones I had with DS and am desperate for some new bras as the ones I had don't fit that well.

woowa I'm not quite as tall as you and can get away with 34" inside leg trousers but it's tops I struggle with for length. Never seem to cover the whole bump. Have you tried www.pixieandgiraffe.co.uk/ for long length jeans?

Nausea seems to have subsided thankfully!

13+1

PDog · 30/07/2011 09:31

Morning all

I've been reading but not had time to post either. Sorry to all the people who have left the bus but Smile to all the happy scan news.

woowa have you tried New Look. They do tall mat clothes, their jeans are too long for me and i'm a 34 inside leg. Or next do extra long if you order online.

Still feeling sick and exhausted here, although I haven't actually being sick for nearly a week.

My DH was reading an article about anti-sickness tablets in pregnancy. Apparently research has shown that morning sickness is more harmful to the baby than anti-sickness tablets. So get to the docs if you are still suffering!

We have friends visiting this weekend. They are big drinkers so should be fun trying to avoid it.

notcitrus · 30/07/2011 10:50

Talked to hospital - they say I can still have my scan on Friday despite being only 11+1, so that's sorted at least. And confirmed I'm definitely not anaemic as have 'amazing' iron levels (over 14), so all exhaustion is just me being pregnant. Again. Had to take last two days off as was too tired to sit upright on a chair let alone add up any numbers or understand lawyerese.

And they'd lost my obstetric physio referral so after talking to zillions of people they've redone it.
Anyone else got SPD yet? I hope not...

I'm finding maternity trousers still fall down and others are too small, so back to stretchy skirts, especially as my skin gets really sensitive. Almost large enough to hold up the ones I stretched out last time I was pregnant! Bit worried about how I'll stay warm in winter with a huge bump. But my mum has been a star and bought me loads of long loose tops (giant Sainsburys and M&Co), so at least I don't have the top-not-meeting-trousers problem at the moment.

shipsladyg · 30/07/2011 13:00

Notcitrus - I had the same winter warmth conversation with DH this morning. The coats look far too expensive to justify.

Anyone know what the sizing in maternity clothes from vertbaudet is like? I'm twixt normal sizes usually.
