pinkhollie · 26/07/2011 20:17

Please please call it Herod mellie too funny for words.

I am really hoping the tiredness and nausea stop before 16 weeks otherwise that's my whole summer holidays gone sleeping and eating carbs.

11+0

melliebobs · 26/07/2011 20:31

I'm half tempted to ring the registry office and see if they'd let you register a child with that name. Then I'd hope they say no. Then I'd say to dh yerr go on well call him Herod. Go to register the poor lil soul then have the last laugh!!!!

melliebobs · 26/07/2011 20:34

Other suggestions have been

Geoff jeff (surname)
Graham graeme (surname)

pinkhollie · 26/07/2011 21:16

If it's a girl I have threatened to call it Milly Molly our surname which is M**y Grin

woowa · 26/07/2011 21:25

Basically really nervous about scan tomorrow, have a feeling of "it's not there anymore" hanging over me. The bump seems to have decreased (no need to have jeans open today). ak. Oh well, it'll be over by this time tomorrow (it's not til 2.40pm though, so i have the torturous morning to get through.)

Am going to make marrow chutney to give me something to think about all morning.

And if there is still a baby, i'm going to put an offer in on the double pushchair i've been watching on ebay which has just been relisted again, fortunately. Seems no-one up north wants this one! It's on "buy it now or best offer" for £180. bought for £800, but there's an identical on on there in diff area of country starting at £130. Would it be cheeky to put an offer in that low?

I'm encouraged that your scans are all going well, no bad news so far.

mellie here's the rules on names for change by deed poll, so i assume same for babies: (although i thought Katie price and peter andres daughter was called princess)
"We will not accept an application for a name that:
-does not include at least one forename and one surname;
-is impossible to pronounce;
-includes numbers or symbols (see section 2 below);
-includes punctuation marks - although you can have a hyphen to link forenames or surnames (for example, if you want a double-barrelled name) and an apostrophe in the case of surnames like O'Brien;
-is vulgar, offensive or blasphemous;
-promotes criminal activities;
-promotes racial or religious hatred;
-promotes the use of controlled drugs or includes the generic or slang name for them;
-ridicules people, groups, government departments, companies or organisations;
-may result in others believing you have a conferred or inherited honour, title, rank or academic award, for example, a change of first name to Sir, Lord, Laird, Lady, Prince, Princess, Viscount, Baron, Baroness, General, Captain, Professor or Doctor etc.
exceeds the maximum number of characters allowed in a name (see section 7 below). "

I suppose Herod might count in promoting religious hatred if you were doing it because you hate jesus or christians, but how would they be able to tell that?

I love that you can't have a name that is impossible to pronounce? Is that so when the police arrest you that don't struggle with reading your rights?

woowa · 26/07/2011 21:30

Further to the above, from same site:

"4. Fun names
Some people like the idea of having what we call a fun name. We have issued Deed Polls for fun names such as Jellyfish McSaveloy, Toasted T Cake, Nineteen Sixty-Eight, Hong Kong Phooey, Daddy Fantastic, One-One-Eight Taxi, Ting A Ling, Huggy Bear, Donald Duck, Jojo Magicspacemonkey and James Bond. To visit our media page to see newspaper articles about our most unusual and bizarre name changes during the past years, please click on this link (opens new window).

If you are considering a fun name and belong to a professional body, you should check to ensure there will be no problems registering your new name with them. The Law Society would not be happy with a solicitor being called Mickey Mouse!

We reserve the right to refuse an application for a fun name from a person who is under 18 years of age.

If you are considering changing your name to a fun name, please read the next three sections."

I especially like Jojo magicspacemonkey. Has anyone considered that name for their baby?

melliebobs · 26/07/2011 22:11

This is interesting. Me and dh have just had a giggle reason through that an we do have one issue and that is not being able to have a name that promotes drug use or includes the slang for recreational drugs. In that case surely no child can be registered Charlie?!

4everhopeful · 26/07/2011 22:51

Not good here, had scan today and our little angel babies heart has stopped beating ..

mistressploppy · 26/07/2011 22:53

Xavielli · 27/07/2011 06:52

Good luck woowa maybe the baby has just shifted a little so bump isn't so pronounced.

hermionejgranger · 27/07/2011 07:26

so sorry 4ever...thoughts are with you x

ITryToBeZenBut · 27/07/2011 07:38

So sorry for your sad loss 4ever. Thinking of you too.

gonerogue · 27/07/2011 08:55

4ever so sorry to hear yoru news. No words can suffice but all my thoughts are with you.

Pam I can second the tiredness going - for me it wasn't until about 16 weeks but there is definitely light at teh end of that particulaar tunnel. Have you gotten your scan date yet - mine is on Friday.

Xavielli my DD is Aoife Grin. We have Saoirse for a girl or Noah/Ruairi for a boy - I'm not gone on Ruairi but DH likes it so I might change my mind and then we'll have all Irish names. Re funny names DH wanted to call a boy Rocky and our surname is Hill so you could have Rocky Hill -

Working from home today - might pop in and out.

Good luck to those with scans - woowa hope everything goes well for you.

pinkhollie · 27/07/2011 10:58

Really sorry 4ever I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now. My thoughts are with you.

Sugar80 · 27/07/2011 11:18

4ever I'm so sorry :( Thinking of you.

I've given in to the general feeling roughness and have phoned in sick today. Think I over did it on my day off yesterday, so today have got a banging headache, had to run in on DP in the shower to be sick, and feel as weak as a kitten.

Seren is my name of choice for a girl. I'm Welsh, so it's not totally random, and is different without being odd! DP wants Ernie for a boy. Never gonna happen....!!!!

louby86 · 27/07/2011 11:36

So sorry 4ever such sad news, thinking of you x

I've rang in sick today too, not kept any food down since Monday night, think I may have gone back to work too early.

Loving the name discussions, glad to see it's not just me arguing with my DH about names! He's really surprised me with the amount if random ones he's suggesting, I'm trying to win him over to my way of thinking though!

PamBeesly · 27/07/2011 11:55

4ever my thoughts are with you, take care

PamBeesly · 27/07/2011 11:58

gonerogue my scan is 17/08 at 2pm! I'll be 12+5. You have lovely names, my DH wants Síofra but I don't like it...sorry for any Síofra's out there, it just doesn't go with our surname. I love Noah from your boys.
Good luck on Friday, let us know how it goes :)

m1nn1em0u5e · 27/07/2011 12:10

4ever im so sorry x

Xavielli Finn is my ds2 name, we love it & get lots of compliments about it!

Bad day yesterday for me, I must have been sick 18 times....ended up at emergency Drs & have been prescribed anti-emetics....My Mum & Mother in Law have taken the children for the past 2 days & im in bed trying to rest, although my head, tummy and back are so sore & achey....cant wait to get to the blooming stage!....

14 weeks today!....

InnocentRedhead · 27/07/2011 12:30

Oh I am so sorry 4ever. There is no words to make it better, only time.

woowa loving the 'advice' on baby names. I'm in a bloody tizz as to what to call them, i hate every DP likes and Vice-Versa. They are at risk of being called Thing. Maybe not now.

So sorry to hear about everyone having really rough times of it... I suppose you are all worn out. Don't know what to suggest about the sickness, and I hope it will all pass for you all. minnie have you being diagnosed with hyperemisis gravidarium (or whatever it is called) seems that you should be passed this stage by now.

My symptoms have pretty much disappeared apart from the tiredness and (TMI alert) loads of discharge. A little worrying, but i have a little bump appearing now, in fact they have just popped above my pubic bone today, meaning i haven't needed a wee so much today. Scan in 9 days, I am extremely excited :) I will be either 11+4 or 11+6.

Will be in to catch up further soon, haven't had much of a chance to catch up recently

10+2/4

mummymccar · 27/07/2011 12:54

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss 4ever, thinking of you and your OH and sending you lots of love xxx

Spoke to the GP this morning, headache is actually migraine AND sinusitis which explains why it was so awful. Seems to be easing today, thank goodness. Also visited a chiropractor so that seems to have helped too AND I heard a rumour that chiropractic care eases MS so I had fingers crossed, and I actually seem to be feeling a little better already! Still rough, but not as bad. May be an idea for some of you who are suffering too.

Can't believe that One-One-Eight Taxi has already been taken. Went perfect with our surname too. At least we still have Batman The Dark Knight in reserve! phew

PamBeesly · 27/07/2011 13:22

mummymccar great news that its easing and that you are getting alternative therapies too (there isn't a lot of mainstream medicine you can take in pregnancy) I've also been told accupuncture is good for MS, I hope you are feeling top drawer soon :)

mummymccar · 27/07/2011 14:12

Thanks Pam, I think that if it hasn't eased by 12 weeks I'll be trying the accupuncture too - never tried that before. Very interested in it though, had cupping a few months ago and the guy managed to diagnose what was wrong with me when the Drs couldn't, just by the colour of my skin! Very weird!

PamBeesly · 27/07/2011 14:16

I think there is a lot to be said for alternative therapies, I think mainstream medicine is the best of course, thats where there are the most advances, but I think there is too much emphasis on the chemical when it comes to human health and I like the holisitic approach of other therapies. Wow from the colour of your skin, thats amazing.
