Hi all

I've been lurking since my first post. I felt superstitious about posting anything but had a scan this week and saw a lovely wee baby in there. Your posts have been keeping me going though - particularly when lots of you seemed to lose all your symptoms at the same time as me (all back now though - I should have enjoyed the reprieve when I had it rather than worrying myself stupid).

So sorry to hear that so many have had to leave the bus. My thoughts have been with you all as I've read your messages.

Mummymccar - yes to the fluids thing. I dread taking my folic acid each day as it says I should take it with a full glass of water. I've found it more bearable if it is super chilled. I drank three pints before my scan this week and didn't think I'd make it to the appointment as a result. I'm putting my faith in the nausea disappearing within the next month hopefully. No actual sickness though, which is a blessing.

4ever welcome and good luck.

Ducksaysmoo - glad I'm not the only one experiencing the fluids thing! I was doing well on milk until yesterday and now can't seem to find anything I can drink. Flat coke seems to be the best of a bad bunch. DP bought me some rocket ice lollies from sainsburys which were ok last night. Going to try them again today and see if that helps. The folic acid is difficult, been really struggling to take it but I've found so far that if I eat some dry toast about 30 mins before then it stays down. Baby doesn't seem to want any food at all now except dry toast and plain rice so going to see the doctor on Monday. Don't want to take anything but I think being dehydrated is worse for the baby. Already lost a couple of lbs this week so hoping it will pass soon. In other news, had another scan on Thursday - big wriggly bean in there with arms and legs and a very loud heartbeat! So relieved that all is well.
Hope that everyone is resting as much as you can!

Am very jealous of those who have had scans - mine isn't till 9 August, which seems quite late. Booking appointment next Tuesday though.

Today I'm kind of excited as I'm off to a friend's wedding, and will see friends I haven't seen for years. Going to be so hard though not drinking but not telling them about the pregnancy, especially as OH is teetotal and is always the dedicate driver!

gonerogue yes, I have the bruising thing too, what's that about?!

notcitrus · 23/07/2011 12:18

Had booking yesterday, and MW suggested I come in today for a scan to sort out dates etc. Of course while waiting for the scan I started bleeding slightly!
So I know I'm carrying one baby with a head and a heartbeat. MW thought it should be fine but warned me it's possible for the heartbeat to be gone by 12 weeks, and said to come in again if worried before then.

But due date is revised to 23 Feb. Darn, I have to be 9 weeks pregnant again! And rearrange 12wk scan for a week later. But I actually believe I'm pregnant now! :)

Nausea has mostly worn off, except when I smell cats or catfood. Shame I'm feeding neighbour's cat for a week!

claricestar · 23/07/2011 13:00

I know how you feel notcitrus. I was well chuffed to get to 12 weeks...now after my scan I'm back to single figures again!

melliebobs · 23/07/2011 14:51

Wow that's a few that have been back dated Sad that's rubbish. If I got to my scan and they put me back a few days let alone weeks there will be hell to pay!!!

babycarmen · 23/07/2011 21:09

Well.. had a very eventful friday.. was hides head in shame rushing about Blush and fell on the stairs, hit my head and my bump! Went straight to the maternity ward and got scanned and me and baby are both fine!!
Put me forward a few days though.. measured at 11+6 so i guess im 12 weeks as of today!!
Get my 12 week scan on Monday anyway, was lovely to see the wee tot kicking and got a lovely face-on pic and a side-on. Very pleased! Cant wait til Monday to see him/her again! The hospital also said i had ketones in my urine which means i havent been eating enough and a high temp. Im trying to eat but its difficult when you have no appetite! :(

Very drained so pretty much been in bed all day today!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 24/07/2011 00:11

I was supposed to be working this weekend, but my lovely colleague swapped with me, for which I am eternally grateful as I did 2 weekends ago. I've felt a bit better during today and managed to do a bit mire with DD, who is back on the Big Girl Pants trail and was a star today. Only one accident and some pee in the potty - yay!

But still sooooo exhausted and nauseated and vomming. I am just so desperately hoping it doesn't last as long as it did with DD.

(or, seeing as it's after midnight, is it 9+6?!Grin)

PIMSoclock · 24/07/2011 06:52

Hello lovely ladies!!
Could I join you??
I am 9+6 with dc 3, have a 6 year old and a 14 month old. Have had the WORST nausea :(
Nice to see some sympathetic faces. Think my dp will actually vomit if I tell him again how I'm feeling Blush

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 24/07/2011 09:48

Hi PIMS, we'll tryyyyy to shift up a wee bit more on the crowded seat for the 20th!

SURELY once we start getting our 12 weeks scans some if us will get redistributed to less crowded seats? Smile

QueenFee · 24/07/2011 12:36

Just had some really good news a friend of mine is 12 weeks pregnant with twins! We had our last dcs a month apart so i'm really pleased:)

ITryToBeZenBut · 24/07/2011 14:12

carmen glad all is ok and you're both well.

queenfee How lovely is that to have a buddy - pleased for you.

welcome pims Smile Quite a few nauseated souls on the bus - although I rarely actually have anything other than nausea so can't complain. My OH asked to describe how the sickness felt yesterday - must have done a good job as he fetched me a sympathetic breakfast in bed this am Grin.

Had a good house hunt yesterday. Actually found a nice spot which is commutable to London and had nice houses - within our budget. woo hoo! Going back on friday tohave another look at a few.

ITryToBeZenBut · 24/07/2011 14:13

ps how do you add yourself to the stats? Bit clueless Confused

woowa · 24/07/2011 19:33

BillComptonstrousers, we went to cow green reservoir which is right at the top of Teesdale. SO bleak and deserted, just what we like, and a decently paved track for DH's wheelchair. We drove up there in mid winter a couple of years ago and have been meaning to go back since with "decent weather". Friday was decentish in Boro where we are, but pretty cold up in the hills! Didn't stop DD stripping off her nice warm all in one though and preferring tshirt. DO children NEVER feel the cold?

Itrytobezenbut, i found it eventually on another thread in the antenatal chat section, can't remeber what it's called - probably February 2012 stats!

Good friend had third MC in a row yesterday, she was due a little after me. I'm so upset, we were so excited about this pg, and it would have been lovely to be pg together. Hopefully they'll do tests on her now to find out why. Been feeling Sad all day, and it makes me even more apprehensive about scan on wednesday. ak.

Earliest EVER to bed, in bed before 7 tonight! Tiredness. It's the only thing which convinces me i must still be pg. Silly paranoia.

That, and that my tummy looks like it did at about 4 months last time. It could be the bread i'm stuffing self with, but i am looking scarily pg, and having to hide under biggest baggiest tops. Those of you who have bumps already, where do they start? I'm sure mine is much higher than before. I can't remember where above the pubic bone they start to stick out!! Bit difficult to describe on here anyway.

11 + 4 (and i know i won't be backdated because with IVF we know the EXACT time of conception to the minute!)

melliebobs · 24/07/2011 20:32

So jealous of you ladies with lil bumps to speak of. I've dropped down to a size 14 and in dh's ever so sensitive words my bum has 'gone' and I just have material in my jeans where my bum should be!

gonerogue · 24/07/2011 20:53

woowa walk sounds lovely - we have some mountains hills near us and there are some great walks there but I've not been feeling up to it since I got pregnant - I think DH is sick of bringing the dogs on his own. I've no bump yet - still just got the baby weight from DD1 to hide it. Grin Tiredness is killing me too.

Zen I hope the house hunting goes well and the house you've seen is as good as you remember.

Queenfee that's great news about your friend I'm the first of my group to have children and I keep wishing they would hurry up and join me. ]grin]

Pims Hello welcome to the bus. Lots of lovely chat and support here.

Wicketkeeper yay for DD's potty training you must be really proud. I hear you on the nausea - thankfully no vomming here butsometimes I think it would be easier to handle if I could be sick

babycarmen yay for the wriggly bean. Hope you recovered from the shock/shame of the fall. I have days where I eat and days where nothing
goes in so hopefully they won't find anything wrong when I go for my scan.

notcitrus, clarice I am hoping I don't get backdated it would make it seem so much longer. I am 99.9% sure of my dates though so hopefully I'll be fine.

rollersara hope you had a great time at the wedding and no one outed you.

mummymccar rocket lollies are the business I practically live on them. Although I find fruit splits from Tesco also do the job. Grin
Great news about your scan.

Ducksaysmoo that's great about your scan too.

Hello to everyone else and hope you are all well. Big wave to all newcomers too.

Goblino sorry to hear your news.

Right now on to me, we had my sisters' 21st last night and as I am 11 +2 I said I'd tell them instead of trying to explain away the tiredness/lack of
drinking. To say the reaction was underwhelming is an understatement. Most of my family's first reaction was "What is your work going to say"
Now I know in the current economic climate people might think it would be bad to lose out in a job - but being pregnant means I am protected
from redundancy etc. In fact I have told my boss and she was delighted for me.

I was in such a bad mood after that - and then one of my sisters put a status on FB saying
"congrats to rogue, DH and DD on the bun in the oven."
I was so annoyed because she is friends with lots of my frends and I haven't told anyone other than family yet. It was taken down as soon as I saw it but I know a few people saw it as they have texted me to say congrats.

Anyway enough of me ranting - hormone overdrive -

take care everyone and I'll chat to you all later in the week

gonerogue · 24/07/2011 20:55

Sorry for length of previous posts - just had to say melliebobs I have also lost weight - 10 lbs so far and counting. .But from previous experience it'll come back in the last 10 weeks.

QueenFee · 25/07/2011 04:50

Gone grr to your sis! Families eh?

Yes it really is 4:45am I am sick of lying awake unable to sleep at night then being knackard all day. Anyone else?

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 25/07/2011 07:11

I hear ya, QueenFee!

I got up fairly early to try to get breakfast in before the nausea hit. No use. Started puking it back up before I was a third of the way through. I am so miserable with this. I can't even really be happy about the pregnancy while it's like this. Sad

hermionejgranger · 25/07/2011 07:21

i agree too queenfee and wicket - at the weekend i've been staying in bed as long as poss and dozing because then i don't feel sick - but i don't have any small people to look after. and that doesn't work during the week of course...oh well - at least dh's alarm clock has gone off before the vomming starts today. woke him up with it last week. needless to say he was delighted! :)
perhaps the lack of sleep is early preparation...Hmm

shipsladyg · 25/07/2011 08:51

QueenFee - night wakings here too. I can't decide whether it's part of pregnancy or because I'm worrying.

Anyone going to watch Panorama tonight? It's about maternity services. I found the Coverage on bbc breakfast news a little misleading as they only gave numbers and didn't give proportions or comparisons. A little sensationalist of them. Nothing quite like freaking out pregnant women with poor reporting.

Rollersara · 25/07/2011 10:12

also with queenfee and wicket, keep getting up early because it's the only time I'm not nausious ( sorry, too tired to spell!) then asleep by lunchtime. Go to bed early, then wake up in the night again so getting stuck in a loop.

shipsladyg, saw the news articles but not going to watch Panorama, just adds stress rather than helping anyone.

Moofins · 25/07/2011 12:49

Hi All
Not been on here much as the thread kept running away from me and too much to catch up on!

Had my scan on friday which was lovely to see the little wriggly baby and hear the heartbeat. But rather than moving me forward to 3rd feb as I was expecting I got moved back to 26th Jan so I shall make some space on this very busy bus and go and see the Jan thread! I bet you this little one will be born in Feb though!!! Mind you they have offered me an elective C section (had EmCS with DS1) so maybe not if I decide to go that way.

Anyway - good luck all - and if you have your scan on a hot day drink lots during the day as well as before the scan. I had drunk loads of water from about 45 mins before my scan, but had been busy so probably not that much before that. It wasnt enough to get the nuchal measurements so I was sent away with instructions to drink lots more and eat a banana and went back after 30 mins - still wasnt very good and got a telling off for getting myself dehydrated...... Didnt mind too much as I got a second look at our gorgeous baby!
