Hi, does anyone mind if a join, am due the 20th Feb.

I have DD1 who is 9 and DD2 who is 14 months so am going to have my work cut out for me.

Also feeling like rubbish, sick and dizzy and tbh getting alittle fed up with it now cant wait til these first 3 months are over and i can feel alittle like normal again.

wompoopigeon · 12/07/2011 09:11

Sending many positive wishes to Oddeyes for your DH's swift recovery.
Crazybit hope doc's appt goes well

ITryToBeZenBut · 12/07/2011 09:21

latetotheparty - yoga's ace! lovely to see another yogi Smile

For my tuppenceworth, I was taught the first trimester is a time to be very careful indeed so no twists or strong abdo work. The twists can potentially affect the placenta in the womb and this time is all about allowing the placenta to grow. If you're not doing strong abdo work, then you're not engaging the abdominal locks so you need to change the practice to take out anything which might then strain the lower back as you're not protecting it with the locks. A 'normal' class is fine - I've had pregnant ladies of all weeks in classes I've taught and you just need some modifications. |We're taught to ask all ladies to have a discreet word with us if they're pregnant - even early days if not announcing so that we can watch for the twists and abdo cintraindications.

melliebobs is right that advice differs - this is what I've been taught from yoga perspective. Some of the twists etc are really deep if you're experienced and it sort of naturally does feel counter intuitive to me to be squeezing and compressing that area right now and it makes sense anatomically from what I've learnt.

Enjoy Grin

ITryToBeZenBut · 12/07/2011 09:23

welcome ray. Congrats. Smile There are quite a few of us here looking forward to feeling normal again

melliebobs · 12/07/2011 09:52

emz yup i'm struggling with sleep to. Sunday night didn't get to sleep till 2-3 in the morning and had to be up at 6 for work :( Shattered didn't even explain how i was yesterday. Last night went to bed at 10 and it seemed to take ages to get to sleep. I've got so much whizzing through my mind i'm finding it really hard to switch off and once i do get to sleep i'm having weird weird dreams. It's not good :(

CoffeeOne · 12/07/2011 10:08

welcome ray
best wishes for you and DH oddeyes

Well I've been having some quite sharp pains on one side over the last couple of days. They come and go quickly. This is my first pregnancy and I don't really know what is normal and what is not. I went to the doctors this morning and the GP checked me over. He's made me an appointment at the EPU tomorrow morning for a scan, so now I'm terribly nervous :S

8+5

BillComptonstrousers · 12/07/2011 12:45

Well I've been for my scan and it is all god news, saw the heartbeat and a very wriggly baby in there waving it's stumpy little arms and legs about!

No pockets of blood anywhere either, so should be ok!

They have changed my dates as well so I am now 8+5.

Hope everyone is having a good day x

fingers crossed for you coffee - hopefully it's just growing but I agree it's hard to know what's normal. I had no idea there would be cramps in the first trimester - totally taken me by surprise.

I feel grim today. [hsad] I've taken the day off work. Starting to swing between vomiting and nausea now and a commute of nearly 3 hrs on tube and a train with no loo was out of the question. my OH is freelaqncing at home today and confirms I am certifiably green around the gills.

mistressploppy · 12/07/2011 12:49

Hooray for a happy scan, Bill

ITryToBeZenBut · 12/07/2011 12:49

congrats bill - good news. Smile

Crazybit · 12/07/2011 12:51

Great news Bill.

I git sent to epu after speaking to mw and also had scan. All is fine and am measuring at 8 wks today. :)

Coffee-i think if gp had been worried, he would have sent you for scan today so try not to pert. It's probably your body stretching in preparation. :)

Crazybit · 12/07/2011 12:55

Try not to worry, not try not to pert. Stupid phone.

deardear · 12/07/2011 13:00

Can i join in please? Due 25 February so hopefully will be on time as I was with both the other 2 and not have a leap baby!

QueenFee · 12/07/2011 13:14

Oddeyes you have my sympathies when I was newly pg with dc3 my dh was seriously ill in hosp with septecemia. It is very difficult. Hope your dh is ok.
Bill and crazy great news re the scan :)

Hello newcomers

I have had lots of cramps this time. Ended up telling mil and sil myself as dh kept 'forgetting' they had both guessed by the size of me :o

8 + 4

woowa · 12/07/2011 13:51

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with sleep - i don't remember this happening last pg, but maybe it did. I get to sleep ok but keep waking at night, sometimes go back to sleep quickly, sometimes takes forever. Off to sleep now while DD naps, then off to my first MW appointment!! yippeeeee. I'm 10weeks tomorrow, so hope scan will be in two weeks time!

shipsladyg · 12/07/2011 13:59

Woowa - I've had the same with sleep. I cant figure out if daytime naps are helping or not; but I know somedays I'd happily lay on the floor and just sleep while DD just plays around me/climbs on me. I've know idea how those of you who are working are managing it.

Still - on the plus side, I feel nearly human today and even managed to lead a women's group today for an hour. Grin it's my one hour a week when I'm not mummy and it makes me feel so much better.

littlemonkeybix · 12/07/2011 14:11

I am hardly sleeping at all... I've had trouble sleeping in the past (non PG related) so I am getting away with it in work as a recurrence of my insomnia, but it is AWFUL! I never realised I would feel so blummin tired being "in the club". Not getting a great deal of sympathy of DP either... I dont think he realises just how tired I am. Angry
Fortunately, I got comfy last night on the couch after 2 hrs of unsuccessful sleep in the bed. I'm sure that made him realise I'm serious about this sleeping lark!
I'm usually a front sleeper - now uncomfy, and I have wide shoulders so if I sleep on my side I get terrible neck, back and shoulder pain, and a dead arm! I hate sleeping on my back, and this isnt advised later on anyway. I am at a total loss of how I can get some sleep. Confused Can anyone help me sleep!!!??!
ANYWAY rant over - just had a call from MW, moved my appointment by a couple of hours. Booking appt on 1st Aug... TOO EXCITED Grin

shipsladyg · 12/07/2011 15:03

Littlemonkeybix - I ended up making sone kind of pillow nest in my first pregnancy in order to get sleep. Luckily we have a superking bed - but I did have to wake up to turn it all round in the night to get some sleep on my other side.

I'm just relishing the last few days of sleeping on my tummy. I'll miss it.

LittleBoxes · 12/07/2011 15:32

Hello all, just posting with update. As I thought, it was bad news after all - miscarriage proper started on Saturday. Had follow-up scan today and pregnancy is definitely over. It was a blighted ovum so not even a baby Sad. Feeling OK though - I was very upset around the time I last posted, but I've spent the week coming to terms with it (while being extra-busy, as outlined in last post!)

Anyway, onward and upward - will start TTC again after my next period. In the meantime, am about to book a last-minute holiday somewhere hot!

Wishing everyone on the thread the best of luck with your pregnancies and beyond.

Tiredtrout · 12/07/2011 15:32

Hope you're ok oddeyes thinking of you xx

littlemonkeybix · 12/07/2011 16:03

littleboxes that's awful news... but you sound pretty chipper. Keep your chin up. Fingers crossed that you get your BFP ASAP on your next go Wink

Sending all my wishes and thoughts your way.... and so jealous of a holiday!! Wink

x

miamama09 · 12/07/2011 16:15

littleboxes - so sorry to hear your news. Hope you are back on another bus like this very soon! good luck!

lilyrose123 · 12/07/2011 16:41

little boxes sorry about your news, but like your kinda positive vibe on it :(

little monkey with last pregnancy i used to sleep with wedge pillow under bump and v pillow between legs or under shoulders
perhaps an extra pillow to support your neck will help
I almost get myself into the recovery position thats quite comfy :)

the Dr has now given me stemetil (or prochlopromazine) for sickness and piriton (or chloraphenamine) for hayfever (excuse spellings from a nurse too!)
pharmacist dispensed them knowing i was pregnant, its difficult cos there is no research into anything, no pregnant woman would sign up to trial drugs to see the effects, but they go on there not being any reported problems in the past
I havent taken any yet, i'm 3waiting for really bad days rather than taking them anyway, has anyone else been put on anything similar? or what are your thoughts?

I have found the more I sleep the less nausea and vomiting I get and if I can lie down straight away when the feelings come on I am better, BUT not always possible when at work!

lilyrose123 · 12/07/2011 16:43

sorry 8+0

RoganJosh · 12/07/2011 16:47

Just wanted to say hello!

Sorry to see your news little boxes. Hope you stay as positive as possible.

I'm due 22nd Feb, so 7+6 today. I also have a nearly 3yr old and a 15 month old. I'm fed up with not knowing if things are ok and if I get properly planning (and getting my head around 3 under 3 1/2) and have a private scan booked for tomorrow. Yikes. I feel like I'm pushing my luck with 3 and am pretty nervous about this whole pregnancy.

Hope everyone's had a good day,
RJ x
