Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Flower82 · 07/07/2011 17:10

Thanks lily for the advice, if only my gp was as helpful! Tonight I will sleep sitting up with a cold flannel on my neck (DH is going to love me!)

We should see how many frederics we can drum up! DH would probably veto it as our surname starts with f but can always give it a go!

My gp said the jury's out on the whole peanuts thing but as both our families have histories of asthma, hayfever and excema I'm staying clear for the mo Sad

mistressploppy · 07/07/2011 18:25

I'm Envy of those of you with due dates at the end of the month - I want a Frederic Grin

Although our surname starts with 'F' too, Flower - might be a bit much.

Feeling very sorry for all the sicky ones - I'm getting off very lightly indeed with my (mild) bunged-up-ness. Trying not to be paranoid as it's the same as with DS1....

littlemonkeybix · 07/07/2011 18:38

I'm getting off quite lightly too... almost feel guilty, but then I remember my massive fears and panic attacks and think maybe I don't need more symptoms!!

I haven't named my (so far non existent) bump yet... it might have to be Freddy! Freddy for a bump I can do! Already have a girl and boy name picked out, so it will be bump name only I'm afraid.

Can I just rant a bit that I am BUSTING to tell people... still waiting for my scan dates etc, and going to tell the parents next weekend anyway... but this has been the LONGEST 2 weeks (3 if you count the week I didnt test!). I have successfully lied to so many people... even a nurse friend of mine! I have one more lie to go though... Work night out on Friday... I've started the ball rolling for this lie of "I can't drink, I'm on antibiotics for a water infection" NO ONE will make me drink for that Wink

melliebobs · 07/07/2011 19:37

aww oddeyes it's one extreme or the other isn't it! I'll join you with the loose and several trips to the loo-ness. Stay hydrated that's all i've been told!

Now I want to cry :( my amazing slow cooked home made spag Bol just doesn't taste the same any more :( plate of fresh pasta for tea it was

On what will hopefully be a better note. I made banana loaf this arvo and I'm gonna have a doorstop wedge with a glass of milk later :o

phlossie · 07/07/2011 19:38

It'll be exciting when you do tell, littlemonkeybix. On the other hand, I have told loads of people. Oops. I am incapable of not blurting it out!

It's nice to hear that sickness is a 'good sign' - that's what everyone says, but it's bloody horrible and boring and vile, and I think They just say that to make you feel better. So don't be envious, be thankful!

phlossie · 07/07/2011 19:41

Mmmmm - banana loaf, melliebobs - save me a piece! I'm eating loads of bananas and drinking lots of milk. Plus Rachel's Thick and Creamy Yoghurt with honey. Good. I'm so off chocolate, it's unreal. A whole box of Malteasers has been sitting in the cupboard unopened for two weeks! Unheard of.

melliebobs · 07/07/2011 19:47

i don't like bananas. But banana loaf?! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i'm off alot of food at the moment. Meat being the main one. I'm liking dry stuff, pasta, cereal, crackers, (tried crisps today but didn't go down too well) and toast. It's bland, boring and i'm sick of the sight of beige!!!!!! I'll gladly take the maltesers off you're hands though!

I'm not liking it when people say sickness is a good sign :s makes me think something is wrong. I've not physically been sick, but feeling sick all the time and alot of dry heaving going on :(

mistressploppy · 07/07/2011 20:30

Mellie, please don't worry, I barely even heaved with DS1 and all was fine! Everyone is different.

VoldemortsLeftHandWoman · 07/07/2011 21:51

Just a quick fly over here.... It's InnocentRedhead. Just a HP namechange.... I'll be back for a proper chat soon... Just working a lot and spending rest of time in bed!

pinkhollie · 07/07/2011 21:53

Think I have the exact same food tolerances as you mellie I actually managed to eat some meat today for the first time in 2 weeks. I only managed it as lasagne though, anything more meaty would have brought the nausea rushing back. Poor DH is having to cook for his carnivore tendencies on his own. Smile

Sugar80 · 08/07/2011 06:59

Is anyone else finding the sickness is on and off? Wednesday I felt awful in the morning, and was properly sick when I got home from work. But yesterday I was fine all day. It's odd.

6+5

notcitrus · 08/07/2011 07:23

Wish I could feel fine - spent yesterday alternating between trying not to hurl onto my keyboard and and trying not to fall asleep in the loo. No actual vomiting though, just feeling like it all the time. I was thinking that I didn't get this sickness last time round but I looked up old journal entries and actually I was nearly as bad - but as I didn't know I was pregnant I assumed it was food poisoning/stomach problems.

Which isn't hugely reassuring as it went on for ages. Got a scan date in early August at least.

Will have to tell my boss soon simply because I'm being such a waste of space at the moment...

melliebobs · 08/07/2011 08:27

thats one bonus i do have. I'm a lone worker so work are still yet to know, and when i am in the office i tend to be there on my own so i can mope and be pathetic on my own!

Finally got my 1st midwife appointment next friday. It can't come quick enough.

8wk today :)

phlossie · 08/07/2011 09:45

I'm 8 weeks today too.

I've been do loads of dry heaving and retching, and it takes a lot of eye popping action to actually produce anything solid, like the beetroot. I actually thought 'mmmm, this is interesting, but eyes are going to pop out of my head'.

I wish I had some banana loaf. I can't cope with the idea of baking right now, plus we haven't got any eggs and I've eaten all the bananas. But I've just remembered that the corner shop is selling Jamaican Ginger cake at 2 for 1 (although that probably means they're past their best before!)

My DD's at pre-school this morning, thank god. Yesterday I let her watch 3 hours of TV and DVDs Blush while I groaned on the sofa.

Is anyone managing any housework? My house looks like it's been ransacked. It's vile, there's stuff everywhere. I'm not exaggerating.

m1nn1em0u5e · 08/07/2011 09:49

My house is the same as yours phlossie....everytime I bend over I vomit or heave, hate hyperemesis....just hope it ends soon & it isnt with me for the duration

lilyrose123 · 08/07/2011 10:05

Housework! pffft as if!
retching and heaving the only reason no vomit is cos there is nothing there!!!!
the highlight of my day is that dh is going out when i get in from work, that means i'm off to bed!!!!
i seem ok if i lie down fairly flat, no good for work eh?

louby86 · 08/07/2011 10:19

My house is exactly the same! And I'm the same as you lilyrose if I lie down I'm sort of ok!

Felt really sorry for DH yesterday, dr gave me new tablets for hyperemesis and I slept until 11.30am then fell back sleep on the sofa after I'd forced some lunch down me until he walked in the door at 6pm so the house was still a tip and he'd got no dinner!

Fingers crossed this stops for everyone at the end of the first trimester!

8 weeks today!!!

phlossie · 08/07/2011 11:43

Just spend the last 2 hours asleep, and feel a tiny bit better - lying down and sleep is definitely the only answer.

Going by past experience, it will stop at 13 weeks. I remember going to the doctor at 12 weeks and crying and begging her to make it stop. She prescibed me tablets, but it did stop shortly after that.

mistressploppy · 08/07/2011 13:03

Hi everyone. I'm in awe of everyone who's feeling crap AND still managing to go to work

Hardcore

CoffeeOne · 08/07/2011 13:45

Hello all, I've got 2 pages to catch up on, hoping for lots of happy mums and teenybumps!

I had (half a) midwife appointment this morning. It was very strange. I thought it was my booking in appointment but that's going to happen in a couple of weeks, and then I'll book my scan apparently. Today she just asked about medical history, told me what not to eat and made sure I was taking folic acid. Rather underwhelming.

I'm feeling quite anxious at my lack of sickness. Just mild nausea every now and then. I'm also quite crampy most of the day. I don't know how I can wait another month to see my little baby! (no name for us, just baby).

8+1

Rollersara · 08/07/2011 16:01

Also 8 weeks today! Had the afternoon off to do housework, but ate food and dozed instead. Ho hum. Tomorrow I get up 5.30am to go to York for the day, booked way back when pregnancy was something that happened to other people. Meh.

melliebobs · 08/07/2011 16:01

My house literally looks like a bombs hit it. So grateful for dh doing the cleaning last weekend but he just doesn't do it like I do!

Had a major panic today about my car situation. Was at my local leisure centre n saw someone with the Quinny Buzz a pram a quite like so I watched to see how small it folded up. Quite small. But I don't see any pram ever fitting in my excuse of a boot! I have a KA And it's beyond tiny! Lol

Also today my dog has really tested me. I feel sick as it is and came home to a mountain of really stinky dog vomm!!! I was half tempted to walk out n go me mums, pretend I'd never sin it and wait for dh to come home n sort it!

PamBeesly · 08/07/2011 16:07

melliebobs my dog was sick during the night and the smell sent me off I feel for u

My house is also a tip, a real tip, I can't remember the last time I opened the fridge, I just can't bear to look at the food in there. I am living from the fruit bowl and dry toast

rollersara I'm so jealous of York, I've been there before and thought it was magnificent

On another note, have any of you ladies had any brown spoting, I'm 7+0 today and noticed a little amount really small but its my first pregnancy and I'm nervous about everything. If anyone has any experience or advice I'd be glad of it.

Flower82 · 08/07/2011 17:50

Melliebobs, we had a quinny buzz (the one with the big back wheels right?) and a Peugeot 206 and it was quite a squeeze! We had to take all the wheels off to get it in the boot! The thing with the quinny though is that it's really simple to put down and take wheels off etc and also really simple to put back up!

hermionejgranger · 08/07/2011 17:52

coffeeone my first MW appointment was similar - not quite what I was expecting. She asked me about folic acid, took about 50 litres of blood, gave me a pot to wee in and gave me a bounty pack and my handheld notes - not fully filled in though. She made a 2nd appointment to come to my house (omg best get DH to do some housework!!) next Friday and I think then she's going to go through the rest of the notes. I think now I've seen her once I should get scan date through the post.

Does anyone know whether I'd feel better if I was actually sick? "normal" nausea usually goes away (or at least lessens) if you're sick, doesn't it? I know it's kind of a wimpy moan when so many of you are really suffering but the nausea is doing my head in (sorry).
