Ha! I made it to the next thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Baby2b · 16/08/2011 12:04

esk did the midwife say what problems it can cause if the baby is lying to the right? Mine is head down and facing my back, which is good. Very much lying on my right side though.

vallinnapod · 16/08/2011 12:30

Must be something in the thread as mine is also tilted to the right! I think in an ideal world they want head down, facing back tilted to the left. I have 2 out of three so no concerns from the MW. It is anything other than head down that causes concern. Back to back is 'fine' just can be more painful and trickier to get out but no v-birth issues. I think the preclusion to left/right is neither here nor there.

GL getting some rest Nickel just to echo the other ladies, tiredness will get way worse. I am shattered constantly and now doing very little. Come 30-ish weeks I completely reverted back to the bone aching tiredness I had in the first 5-9 weeks of pregnancy.

Eskarina · 16/08/2011 13:11

Mine is right over on the right hand side, lying facing across rather than facing my back. It means that it's most likely to rotateo 3 quarters of a turn clockwise, ie via back-to-back, rather than 1/4 turn anti clockwise. I need to spend time on all 4's or leaning over ball.
My mw wasn't concerned at the 38 week appt, only mentioned today because I kept asking about the implications of this position for labour

Eskarina · 16/08/2011 13:15

Google "right occipital lateral" for more info

KateeTheBump · 16/08/2011 13:34

7 weeks and counting til I finish work at 38+2... can't wait! YY to the tiredness, though I think for me its cos I'm not sleeping brilliantly at the moment, and I really need daytime naps which I can't get in the office (seriously considering breaking into someone's office, lining up their chairs and going to sleep). Trying to work from home at least one day a week, which seems to be helping.

DP keeps pulling me up on my sofa slouching habits, so god only knows what position this baby will be in when he finally settles down - transverse seems to be a favourite when I'm lying down, so hopefully the wind won't change and leave him there...

Have you got a ball esk? I've found its quite good to lean on whilst kneeling in front of the tv, if I put a fleece blanket over the ball and add a cushion its quite cosy Smile

yay for hearing the heartbeat again nickel I have my next appt on Thurs, so should hear mine then Grin

Baby2b · 16/08/2011 13:40

That pretty much matches what I thought. My nct lady was always going on about getting the baby to the left, but my midwife isn't concerned either. I spend loads of time on the ball and leaning forward, he just prefers the right Grin When he stretches you can see his back and little bum sticking out GrinSounds like you had a very positive appointment which is good Smile It sounds like it is time to get little esk on the move. Are you having any symptoms? I have had a handful of braxton hicks (I think) and some period type pain. I have been trying to go for walks and managed one js the other day Blush Putting a curry to the end of the list as I don't think my heartburn will be happy.

I can't believe how far we have all come. Doesn't seem that long ago since everyone was piar Grin

Baby2b · 16/08/2011 13:45

Hey katee, cross posted Smile

I do the same with my birthing ball or put cushions on the coffee table to lean on. You still have plenty of time for baby to choose more permanent position. Really feel for you and Nickel with work. Don't know how I would cope without an afternoon nap. I actually read that the workplace is meant to provide somewhere for you to rest, but doesn't seem practical does it? The next 7 weeks will fly by anyway. Smile

nickelbabe · 16/08/2011 14:51

well, I do provide myself with somewhere to rest.
The last time, I piled loads of cushions up in the corner behind the till and sat with a book.
that lasted about 10 minutes before I was interrupted by a customer Grin

thankfully, in this job, i can sit down all the time, and barring the customers, i can pretty much do nothing all day.
and i can nap in the evenings (i actually work it out when i'm at work, then get home and just lie down on the settee Grin )

nickelbabe · 16/08/2011 14:52

on your other note - I did PIAJ (jug) this morning for my wee sample Grin

KateeTheBump · 16/08/2011 15:37

That's cheating, how else are you supposed to test your pelvic floor muscles than aiming into a stupidly small pot and weeing on your fingers ? Grin

Pile of cushions on the floor sounds comfy! I'm still tempted just to disappear under my desk occasionally, but I'd probably snore and give the game away Wink

Baby2b · 16/08/2011 15:39

Haha, have also been peeing in a jug as I can't see what I'm doing with the little sample pots Grin

cowboylover · 16/08/2011 17:22

Lol @ INAJ! I did that and it's still in the bathroom and I don't know what to do with it! It does feel odd not providing a sample for everything!

My DD was to the right as well so must be a thread thing!

When I was overdue my fav thing was to go swimming for a float around but It did make everyone at the pool look very nervous Grin

Work ergh! I totally love being off even when short of funds so am trying to decide if/when I want to go back and how long for..... Booo!

cowboylover · 16/08/2011 17:26

PS TENS tip is to add some spots of water to the pads and it's cleans them and makes them sticky again. The midwife did it when I was using mine and helped loads.

vallinnapod · 17/08/2011 09:25

Hope the work decision isn't too hard cowboy. Can you be quite flexible in your hours or is it an all or nothing role?

Saw a preview if Cowboys and Aliens last night - not even Daniel Craig could save the movie. Awful!! The only upside was the screening was free, the popcorn was tasty and I had 2 visits to Pizza Express in one day BlushGrin

Found it very, very hard to get comfy at the cinema. All of a sudden bub is taking up all of the room in me and my lower back kept really aching.

Last night was Ok in terms of sleep 3 loo trips but was so knackered I was straight back to sleep.

Quick question to those who have popped. What do contractions feels like. I have been getting lots of lower back aching and some pretty impressive period pain, especially at night, but always very low. I imagine contractions engulf the whole bump?

Eskarina · 17/08/2011 10:26

Glad you got some better sleep val. It sounds promising that things might be moving too. I've heard that labour begins with period-y type pains.

We tried everything bar curry last night. When I declined the accupuncture at the alternative health centre, I did get talked into buying some Clary Sage oil which is supposed to bring on labour by getting you relaxed. Had a lovely massage with it. I did sleep very well and had quite a few strong BH. In fact I slept so deeply I didn't even get up to go to the loo and so was completely freaked out by a new bulge in my bump, just above my right hip when I got up this morning. Went hurtling downstairs to ask DH what he thought about it and realised I needed to pee desparately. Bulge magically deflated.....panic over Grin

vallinnapod · 17/08/2011 11:30

I am mainlining RLT but more because I like the taste and have run out of mint tea! I don't think curry would work for me as I always eat quite spicy food (and I wonder why the heartburn sucks!) Am tempted by the clary sage oil - although that would mean leaving the house, which I am trying to avoid today Grin. It would be worth it to sleep so deeply as to not need a wee!! As for sex....TBH the shock of having it would probably jump start labour. DH is out tonight and tomorrow...maybe I will haul myself over jump his bones on Friday. I can imagine it would be more comic than any sort of erotic!!

As I type I am slouched on the sofa so not doing myself any favours there.

Off to the docs this arvo as I have a weird mole/blood blister on my ribs. It has grown rapidly over the past couple of weeks. I burst it caught it in the shower and it bled loads but ended up bigger than before. Opps Blush Confused

cowboylover · 17/08/2011 11:55

My old role took over my whole life working away and long hours but I could go back as permanently office baised but I don't know if I can feel like I'm going backwards like that so asking if they can offer a different role in the same company.

Contractions are different for everyone I think, I never felt anything in bump at all but the back pain was incredible and in my hips but nothing around the bump but was in hospital being induced and all 4 of us where different.

nickelbabe · 17/08/2011 12:05

ow, vall - i hope it's okay. Shock

Grin at your weeing esk

yet another night of not sleeping much.
But i did have a very odd rude dream (which i can't rember now...)
and at the end of this dream, i went to a charity shop that seemed to specialize in Mills and boon - I had decided that if I bought M&B it would stop the naughty dreams Grin

Baby2b · 17/08/2011 12:56

Got my sweep in an hour and feeling very nervous. Decided that my neglected fanjo needed some maintenance and tried to trim it looking in the mirror. I now have a patchy fanjo Grin Asked dh to try and help me tidy it, but he couldn't do anything for laughing. I'm sure the midwife will be too polite to notice .

Need to catch up on the previous posts, just felt the need to share tmi Grin

KateeTheBump · 17/08/2011 13:11

Good luck baby2b hope it has the desired effect... Grin at your DH getting the giggles, you should've kicked him!

vallinnapod · 17/08/2011 13:37

LOL B2B - you are braver than me. I attempted a trim a couple of times and nicked myself Blush bled for ages and went back to waxing!! I am worried my wax is now 'growing out'. Baby better come very soon, or in several weeks so I can fit another in Grin

Good luck with the sweep. I know what you mean about nerves. I have been nothing but excited about the impending birth but have had a couple of wobbles in the past couple of days. One was the realisation that the last time DH and I would live together alone was over a month ago :( Then it was during some pretty horrible period pains - that was realising that the pain then was completely minimal compared to what it would be like when labour was in full swing Confused

So this thread is full of right lying, late babies - bar Brassica and Gormers has anyone been early?

vallinnapod · 17/08/2011 14:16

Just booked train tickets for the BH w/e. That has to guarantee the baby comes before then right?!

Baby2b · 17/08/2011 15:46

Hello, had the internal exam and it went fine. Midwife could feel babies head and my cervix starting to get ready. Didn't get a proper sweep though as it was closed. Wasn't sore, but feel a bit uncomfortable now. Booked in for another sweep next week and one the week after if needed.

I have been booking lots of lunches and making loads of plans, very much hoping that baby will then come Smile

cowboy glad to hear you are enjoying being at home with your little one. It is difficult to know how long to take off. I'm also very aware that all the mums who work part time seem to do a full weeks work, but crammed into less days.

Baby2b · 17/08/2011 15:47

Val I am sticking with a very short trim as I don't want itchy regrowth. Worried that my pain threshold isn't high at the moment either. Had my eyebrows threaded the other day and it brought tears to my eyes...eek!

nickelbabe · 17/08/2011 16:01

vallinna - i read that as "the Braxton Hicks weekend" Grin
