Ha! I made it to the next thread.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 19/07/2011 11:06

the only solution is never to get off that bed!
is there anyway you can be carried home on it? Grin

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 19/07/2011 11:50

TTL I wasn't trying to imply you're an idiot (maybe just a sleep deprived new mum, who's not thinking clearly). Having had my baby at 2 in the morning and having had to listen to my DH (dare to) whinge about being hungry while I was busy pushing his child out of my fanjo, I'm well aware the hospital shops are shut in the middle of the night Grin.

Fingers crossed your LO gets itself into the correct position and stays there Esk.

vallinnapod · 19/07/2011 12:53

Thanks Nickel

Esk - at the risk of sounding entirely hypocritical as we know we are having a boy, you've waited this long!! There may not be enough room in there now to tell as I think babies sit all crossed legged and buddha like! I could be wrong!

Horribly sad news here. One of my very good friend's from uni has had a MC. The worst thing is I only knew she was PG as her DH told my DH (she's very, very private). I do know she was 12 weeks plus and suspect they may have found out at their scan. They have been trying for ages :( I just know how I would feel. I can't say anything to her, not that I would know what to in any case, as I am not meant to know. Just so, so sad for them :(

Eskarina · 19/07/2011 17:21

So sorry for your friend ValSad. I'm sure you'll find the right thing to say when the time comes.

Nickel, I've been thoroughly NCT indoctrinated that laying on a bed is no position for a labouring woman to be in! So I'd rather avoid having to stay there if possible, otherwise it wouldn't be a bad idea.
Only 3 more days until mat leave unofficially starts, but it doesn't feel like it, probably because it's going to be the school holidays, so I would be finishing this week whatever.

And in good news John Lewis phoned back and are giving me the price match I requested Smile. I now have to decide whether I want to procede with the complaint about their poor customer service that I've started writing. I think I should at least point out that their staff on the shop floor are woefully uninformed about the price match process.

vallinnapod · 20/07/2011 15:44

I have just sneezed, weed, snotted down my chest and given the LO hiccups all at the same time Blush

And my first thought? I must tell you guys Grin

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 20/07/2011 16:48

that's quite funny, Esk - i've had that indoctrination from somewhere, too (i'm guessing MN.... Wink)
every time i see a programme on tv where the woman's made to lie on her back, i say "that's the worst position to put her in!" Blush

dunno about the JL thing - I probably would write, but in a more advisory tone (read: patronising! Grin )

oh dear vall you're here too often.....

went to the dr's about my rash.
V quick appointment - he basically said "i don't know what's caused your rash, but i'll prescribe you an emollient cream to put on it"
he took my bloodpressure and temp (blood pressure's already gone up! 127/70! that's high for me) and gave me a scrip.
that's it.
smells really chemically, too. (the cream)

Dynababy · 20/07/2011 17:27

Well my due date is upon us and no sign of baba ... Hmm. Have midwife tomorrow morning .. wondering if she might offer me a sweep .. do they do that as soon as 40 & 1?

Esk glad JL came through in the end. Personally I didn't complain even though they really annoyed me with price match delay mainly cos I felt much happier when they gave me what I wanted! You might be able to blag a voucher or something though as they are always doling them out. I've complained about waitrose food (stone in potatoes and maggot in raspberries Shock) and got a £20 voucher and apology each time.. so could be worth it!!

Grin Val at the sneezing weeing snotting and hiccuping .. ha ha! Who else can you tell but us lot that have previously had in depth chat on pant snot etc!!?

Nickel hope cream works for you.

cowboylover · 20/07/2011 18:21

Hello all, hope all goes well Dyna

Nickel I remember thinking that before I was in labour then jump to me 3 days later asking to put my feet up on the stirrups for a rest!

Out today with DD in the pushchair (which I still can't get enough of!) and saw a very pregnant looking lady and my first thought was thank god thats not me still! anyone worried that looking after a newborn will be hard I have got to say it's easier than the last few weeks of being pregnant!

Dont worry about your weight, I lost and asked my MW about it she said not to worry that's why they don't regularly weight mummys to be.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 20/07/2011 19:05

I should have mentioned on the weight lose front. i am not worrying about my weight, I get dizzy to often to not eat like an utter pig properly. It just seems that my excessive chocolate and ice cream consumption has set of my lactose intolerance again.... (Blush but always good for ditching a kg or 2!)

I ended up on my back on the bed. It was good though as I was alternating between hanging over the back of the bed and lying/sitting in a semi reclined postion which meant I could hold onto the bed rails (rather than my fat thighs) for the final push. I think as long as you can change positions a bit of time on your back isn't so bad.

Val welcome to late pregnancy Grin

OP posts:
takethatlady · 20/07/2011 20:50

nickel, don't worry, I'm a short arse, which explains the weight Grin.

dyna and esk I am excited for you both - new viroid babies are a-coming! :) :) :) But agree that Costa opening times are the only acceptable times for labour. And don't worry coaaf, I know you weren't implying that I'm an idiot Grin. It's just that I actually am one Grin. I went to Tesco's yesterday and forgot everything I had gone there for and just had to come home. I even made up a word which stood for everything I needed to do that day - LENT (Lamp/Email/something/Tens machin return). I still don't know what the 'n' stood for but I know it was important Blush

val with behaviour like that you're going to fit right in when your LO arrives Grin. You can snot, wee and hiccup together. . Agree with cowboy - looking after a LO is hard but it's so much more rewarding than swelling, endless waiting, and pant snot so excessive you go to the hospital thinking your waters have broken Grin.

Really sorry about your friend :(

I'm with coaaf on not worrying about weight loss. Maybe when I get to the six week check I'll start thinking about it (or maybe not). But for now I just think that BFing cuts out 600 calories a day (and eat an extra 1000 ...)

KateeTheBump · 21/07/2011 09:18

I only have one piece of advice for you val... pelvic floor exercises! Grin actually, just wondering, with your mum's house, whereabouts is the loo? Is it in the attic and you're sleeping in the cellar? Confused I thought we had a tall house (4 flights of stairs incl. from cellar and to attic) but the loo is in the middle...

In other news I am now officially in the third trimester, hooray! Though I'm not looking forward to those last few weeks!

Hope your rash goes soon nickel and that you get some proper sleep soon ttl - sounds like you need it! Grin

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 21/07/2011 10:35

ttl - remembering the word, but not what it stands for! Grin

I need sleep too. :(

on a lighter note - I was in the Forum this morning, and I saw a family - man woman, two small children (of approximately the same age). as they went into a shop, the kids hung back to play, and the man shouted "Georgia! George! come on!" I thoguht ShockConfused surely the kids haven't got the same name! - it wasn't like he was calling the girl twice - both children were outside and both children ran when the names were called!
Tehy came out of the shop whilst I was still there, and the man called out something to Georgia, while the little boy was running on ahead. The woman called out "George, stop running please!" and the boy came back.
They had practically the same name!!!! Shock
I had to pull my judgey pants off!!

KateeTheBump · 21/07/2011 10:45

Maybe they were twins? Could get confusing though!

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 21/07/2011 10:50

well, that's what I thought!
why would you name your twins the same name? that's just silly!
and when Georgis goes to school, and her friends nickname her George! then what!

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 21/07/2011 10:50

Georgia - i really can't type...

Eskarina · 21/07/2011 11:05

Grin at George and Georgia.

We've been for the presentation scan this morning. The midwife reassured me Squig is head down and engaged which is NOT what the community mw reckoned on tuesday Confused. No chance of finding out the sex - the scanner was way too basic.

Suppose I ought to go back to work really

vallinnapod · 21/07/2011 11:24

Oh maybe my spurting from every oriffice will deter too many visitors Grin!

Katee we are at the very top of the house and the bathroom is the very bottom - old Edwardian house that used to have an outdoor loo so the bathroom was built out into the garden (before my Mum moved in 30 years ago!) Yay at the third trimester! Where does the time go?!

Glad bub is head down AND engaged esk - from the movement I really think mine is oblique (if that means diagonal) but my notes have said Ceph from about 25 weeks!

vallinnapod · 21/07/2011 14:41

Post natal and towards the end viroids - quick question. Did/do you feel like you did in the first 6 weeks of pregnancy? I have all the symptoms I did then, absolute chronic tiredness that no one (who hasn't been pregnant) can understand, a huge aversion to fruit and salad (the main bulk of my diet!) and uber sore/sensitive boobs.

Just finding it odd and almost nice I am coming full circle....!

Baby2b · 21/07/2011 16:22

I don't have the sickness, but a very definite yes to the tiredness coming back. I have been wanting to comfort eat and hibernate, but trying to stay reasonably active.

Just had my first cup of raspberry leaf tea, so you may be getting some symptom (labour) spotting soon Blush

Dyna, hope everything is going well. Don't have my labour notes to hand but they have a record of appointments to expect and either the 39 or 40 week one says sweep beside it.

Have any of you had people saying they 'know' you will go early? My bump hasn't dropped, so no logical explanation for this. Hmm

Baby2b · 21/07/2011 16:26

Oh, as for baby positioning....I'm slightly worried mine has moved from head down to lying horizontal (on back). All my movement is at the top of my stomach and is always stretching both sides at the same time, very uncomfortable!

Midwife on Tuesday and scan on Wednesday so fingers crossed all will be ok.

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 21/07/2011 16:35

it's all exciting at your end! all of you ready to drop!
I feel left out again, like on the undergrad thread when you were all graduating....

I have had 3 separate people telling me my bump has grown loads. (1 i hadn't see nfro ages, one I saw a couple of days ago - apparently now it's okay to mention my fat belly because it's noticable Hmm , and 1 was DH's sister, so she's allowed)

Baby2b · 21/07/2011 16:45

Don't worry, we won't leave you. Think of all the mistakes wisdom for you to learn from Grin

The size comments are never ending. I know too much weight gain isn't healthy, but the celebs have got a lot to answer for!

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 21/07/2011 16:54
Grin

I wouldn't mind the weight problem - today it's all water because I've got a cold so am drinking shed loads to keep my throat moist. Grin

aStarInStrangeways · 21/07/2011 16:55

Interesting about coming full circle Baby2b - my insane dog nose is back and I am now (as have probably mentioned before) addicted to the smell of woodchips. To the extent that there is a bowl full of clean cat litter in the kitchen, in which I regularly bury my nose Blush Certain other smells are also proving almost gorge-worthy (the smell of wet earth, for example - handy at the moment Hmm) but that woodchip smell just makes me go all funny.

Which is much better than how it was in the first trimester when all I could smell were the horrible manky smells, all dialled up to 11.

I am actually contemplating packing a little bag of cat litter in my hospital bag Blush DH already thinks I am mad, might as well convince the midwives too.

vallinnapod · 21/07/2011 17:07

Too funny star! My bloodhound nose has returned too. Odd!

B2B hope your bub get's to the headstand stage soon! As for RLT i've had a cup a day since Sunday and nothing out of the ordinary here! Not even a BH!

As for 'definitely early' comments, my acupuncturist told me I wouldn't go over due, so I reckon she has now jinxed me Grin
