NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 13/07/2011 13:36

oh, but Katee - it was pretty!
it was a sleigh design.
and we haven't spent any other money (apart from on my clothing!), even the pram will be donated by my sister.

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 13/07/2011 13:38

i see Baby - fair enough :)
I've asked for a Churching (it's a thanksgiving for the woman surviving the birth, rather than welcoming the baby) - the thanksgiving for the baby's all well and good, but who is it that's done the hard work!! Shock

Baby2b · 13/07/2011 13:58

Grin very true nickel

Quick rant: just had a really good look at my stomach Sad I think my bikini days are over! Had a growth spurt and my lower stomach is covered in very angry stretch marks.

KateeTheBump · 13/07/2011 14:13

It is pretty! We have inherited DP's sister's cotbed, pram etc, which has saved us a fortune, but is 13 years old, so its a good job babies aren't fashion conscious! I've stripped down the pram, which is a travel system and washed and mended the covers, took us forever to work out how it all goes back together again, and the pram base itself is a bit of a mystery still, we may need a demonstration before D-Day! Hoping to only use it for shopping trips as I have a close baby carrier I got from ebay which I plan to use day to day.

26 week appointment with MW in a few minutes, wondering if LO will manage to kick her today Grin

poo to the stretch marks baby2b, I'm fairly prone to them anyway (my thigh tops are not a pretty sight) and mum got stretchmarks so guess there's not much hope for me... Grin

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 13/07/2011 14:29

hmm, i've got stretchmarks on my thighs too :(

DH is also now a fan of the sleeping bag things. Grin

fraktious · 13/07/2011 14:35

We have a cot bed that has adjustable mattress heights and a dude you can remove for co-sleeping that then converts to a bench.

Complex!

I would fit in it though (am 5ft7 but sleep curled up).

NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 13/07/2011 15:10

bad plan to browse John Lewis website for clearance stuff

i want this for the baby for christmas !! Shock

KateeTheBump · 13/07/2011 15:41

Especially if its a girl, right? Grin

Just back from MW, all seems well, baby lying transverse at the moment, but at least not breech! Apparently I have strong stomach muscles too, which is news to me! All the aerobics I did last summer must have paid off (though I thought the effect would be gone after about a fortnight!). LO managed to hoof the doppler Grin lovely squeal it gave out.

Measuring 27, so not far off for 26+3 (she said she expected me to be a bit bigger anyway, being tall - 5'9), phew... have been convinced I'm either too big or too small over the last few weeks, so nice to know Smile

Baby2b · 13/07/2011 15:52

katee pleased your scan went well, it is lovely hearing the little heart beating away. Smile

KateeTheBump · 13/07/2011 16:15

It is nice to hear, of course the difference between 16 week appointment and 26 week appointment is that you're not scared shitless they won't find the heartbeat as your insides are getting pounded Grin how many weeks are you b2b?

vallinnapod · 13/07/2011 16:21

Glad the MW went well! It's funny how the booting is so reassuring!! At my 26 week appt I still wasn't 100% he was moving! He's having a quite day today too, bit BH-ish, period painy with some movement. Odd day!

Baby2b · 13/07/2011 17:15

Just lost my message Angry

I was 34 weeks on Monday. I mist check the list as there are a few people in front of me. Got a feeling someone is due in the next week Hmm

KateeTheBump · 13/07/2011 18:33

Dynababy I think, and isnt macaroonmum due soon?

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 13/07/2011 19:21

Ohh, new new babies, eeeee! (still a bit overly hormonal here. Sorry! Grin)

B2B DH should be home on Friday. I can not wait!

Baby2b · 13/07/2011 19:57

Oh dear, my spelling and grammar are going downhill and I can't blame the iPhone for all of them Blush

Glad your dh is home on Friday coaf. It sounds as though he is getting good help.
Smile

vallinnapod · 13/07/2011 20:57

Glad to hear your DH is nearly home COAAF

B2B fancy a race Wink I am 33 weeks on Saturday!

2 weeks 2 days left at work....

Baby2b · 13/07/2011 21:55

Vallinna the race is on Grin

aStarInStrangeways · 13/07/2011 22:48

coaaf glad to hear your DH should be home soon :)

Katee my DS always kicked the doppler away, every single time Grin It made me laugh so much. This one is more sedate and happy to pose for the camera, as it were. She currently seems to have hiccups. She is also apparently sitting right in my pelvis, since every step I take makes my hips feel like they're about to snap in two.

vallinnapod · 14/07/2011 10:52

Great - I have already given bub some verbal bribes Grin I will hit him with the raspberry leaf tea, curry and pineapple when we hit 37 weeks. If it looks like the race is tight I may even have sex Wink

Baby2b · 14/07/2011 11:59

Grin I was just going to post asking about raspberry leaf tea. How much and when do you take it?

vallinnapod · 14/07/2011 12:53

Not sure I want to be helping you Wink

I have now read and heard several contradicting accounts of how to use it. I had initially read that you should start with a cup a day from 32 weeks and build up to three cups. Some people then say take the tea from 32 weeks then tea AND tablets from 37 weeks.

At antenatal the MW said not to take it before 37 weeks...her reasoning was, whilst there was no indication it did anything, if it did encourage the uterus to contract you would not want this before being term and she had seen several ladies in early labour who had said they had drank RLT. So the long and the short of it was unless you knew how your body reacted to it (not at all, or full on contractions!) not to start until the baby was cooked.

Google, unfortunately tells you a million and one ways to take it.

It's meant to taste pretty vile. I am thinking I will waiting until 36 weeks, try a cup, and if it's vile wait another week before drinking it holding my nose Grin

I am totally craving chicken. Pretty constantly. Just chciken breast, but how they cook it at work (a big grill thing so it's juicy but a little crunchy on the outside). I am currently having it for lunch and dinner (dinner being disappointing as I can't cook it the same Grin) So am I massively protein deficient?!

Baby2b · 14/07/2011 13:03

Oooh, who knew you were so competitive Grin. I have read lots of conflicting advice too. What your midwife says makes sense though. I was being lured in by the phrase 'shorter and easier labour'.

Cravings are strange aren't they. Unless it is massively unhealthy I just go with it. I went through a few weeks of drinking gallons of milk/milkshake. Nearly cried in sainsbury's one day when they had no strawberry yazoo Blush. I have been really off eating meat, so still taking vitamins.

Grin
NearlyHeadlessnickelbabe · 14/07/2011 13:54

lots to catch up on!
lovely to see so many posts about movement - I didn't feel much more yesterday, had a couple of bumps/pokes yesterday evening listening to the organ recital.
today, though!
Shock
I'm being pounded ! Grin
That's an exaggeration, but it's definitely moving around - I can really feel it - doesn't feel like nerves now, it's properly "bump!" "poke!" every now and then.
feels sooooo weird Confused
just like a totally random twitch, I suppose!
Grin

loving it. Grin

vallinnapod · 14/07/2011 14:00

OMG - Strawberry Nesquik...with full fat milk naturally! I once even added squirty cream on top. OMG > Maybe I have you meat-appetite? Cannot get enough of any sort really. Before pregnancy I was a total chicken, steak and fish girl. Now even lamb and pork get a look in! Still not a duck fan unless it is totally crispy and with plum sauce in a pancake Wink

One thing we were told that helps get the baby in position is walking up and down stairs. For this there will be no beating me Grin. I realise I have harped on about the 5 flights between our room and the loo but....last night I went at least 4 times! No wonder I am knackered today. If bub is anything other than head down he deserves a medal!

Rather worryingly I have been completely forgetting about pelvic floor exercises...did a bunch today but not sure the intensive session once a fortnight will really work Blush

KateeTheBump · 14/07/2011 14:04

NICE guidelines say RLT is ok in moderation from 28 weeks, so my plan is a cup a day from 28-32 weeks, 2-3 cups from 32-34 then onto the hard stuff (concentrated capsules from Holland and Barratt). There's no evidence to suggest that it will bring on pre-term labour - may give you a few more BHs but its not a labour inducer! Traditionally women used to drink it all the way through pregnancy, so it can't be that unsafe? Its an astringent, so acts to tone the uterus so that contractions are more efficient... sounds good to me Grin
