PS Moomin I went through periods of feeling just like that, and it was when ds was having growth spurts. Sometimes I just felt like a heifer, not a Mummy, but just a pair of boobies attached to a nice warm squidgy body to fall asleep on and puke over. It does pass, and then they all of a sudden start noticing you more and interacting more and you forget the I'm-just-a-milk-machine moments immediately x

Oh, and Joanne it is the law not to get dressed on the first day of maternity leave Grin.

moomin156 · 01/06/2011 11:14

im very happy to settle here even if i should be on a march thread.......Grin
joanne my DH willingly would grow boobs but unfortunately we are back to work and away all week. Only 4 weeks until i move though and then we will both be knackered from lack of sleep LOL

moomin156 · 01/06/2011 11:17

i have 2 freezer drawers of ebm so have just got a bottle out to defrost........we give her meds in a bottle once a day, usually in a small volume but i am going to give a complete feed even if its just to give my boobies a rest :) We have the medela teet that subtitutes a nipple so there is no problem swapping betwwen. Its a big scary plastic nipple though.........at present she is in a cot crying, i am now showered and dressed and have had my breakfast......cruel nasty mommy

magpieC · 01/06/2011 11:30

Hello All,

I've been lurking on this thread for a while and thought I would say hello now that I'm off on maternity leave and have a bit more time to keep up with things. I'm due on the 22nd - expecting a boy and based in Cambridge.

It hasn't quite been the relaxing start to mat leave that I'd hoped for as they found low fluid levels last week but with no other issues identified (yet) we've been stressing over deciding whether to induce early or to keep monitoring things and see how they go. Have decided to go for another scan on Monday and take it from there and hoping he decides to come out of his own accord in the meantime...

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 01/06/2011 11:38

Some how my dates and the scan dates are only a day out from each other, so I still figure I'll go a week late and have a late June baby.

Have washed half the dishes and cooked half the carrot cakes. The second half are waiting for me to get back from picking up DS. Which means I need to find a pair of socks, get them and a pair of shoes on my feet (no jandals here as the rain is back). At least the rain means I don't have to change out of my food covered top as it'll be hiding under my rain coat.

Joannezipan · 01/06/2011 11:59

Magpie Welcome! I'm in Cambridge too as is Takethatlady so that's 3 of us now! Sorry you have had a bit of a stressful start to ML, but it sounds like you have the right idea with the scan on monday.

Confessions can I have some of that cake please...I have run out! DISASTER!

Moomin it had to be worth a try. I keep telling DH that next time we are going down the seahorse route and he is doing the pregnancy - he seems surprisingly up for it!

I have not got some clothes on - woooo go me!

NoToast · 01/06/2011 12:02

Ooh Joannezipan wouldn't want to fall out with you...

Thorny did you get any helpful legal advice on the other thread? If it's appropriate you can serve papers on them for small claims court on-line (search for money claim on-line), the site will outline the procedure- e.g. send letter before legal action explaining that you will be taking legal action if they have not responded by xx date. Now they're leaving you don't need to worry so much about years of unpleasantness. I'm fairly ok with legal stuff relating to tenancies- have taken both landlords and tenants to court- but not other kinds of dispute.

I'm glad we're moving together to the post-natal thread at some point. I am also due to be an end of June dropper but will probably be induced earlier.

Moomin you need to get someone else to wear that baby for a wee while- does Florence take expressed milk? You've been through a lot of worry and that is very tiring, so no wonder you could do with a bit of a breather. We will all be along soon to commiserate...

Louey fingers crossed, good luck to you.

Halle congratulations!

NoToast · 01/06/2011 12:06

Moomin posted without seeing last page of posts- you've got it all under control obvs Grin.

knackered76 · 01/06/2011 13:16

Will catch up later but wanted to say moomin it's totally normal to feel like you do. The secret is to drastically reduce what you think you can do in a day (depressing but it works!). Mine used to be getting dressed before a certain time Blush. It then moved onto maybe doing 1 wash, or having a shower, or some other tiny task that would have only taken me 10 mins before but after dd arrived really did seem to take me all day :) There is an adjustment period after having a baby, once everything has calmed down after the birth and you start your new full time job. You're clearly doing a fab job though Grin.

Merlion · 01/06/2011 13:26

Louey good luck for tomorrow and good luck to Gillz

Congratulations Halle

Good news 8rd hope the group b strep test also comes back negative.

Moomin sounds like a good plan. I am not looking forward to growth spurts. DS was terrible at cluster feeding in the evenings - I got through a lot of dvds (tv pretty dire here) - not much chance this time round with DS though unless I want to watch Fireman Sam on repeat Grin.

Saw dd's doctor today and she has regained and gone over her birth weight. Everything else looking fine.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 01/06/2011 14:32

Right cakes are all cooked and iced so here's a big plateful. Productivity levels have dropped off the scale now that DS is home again. also.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/06/2011 15:55

Moomin, I feel for you too, often felt like that with DS. Don't worry you are not a cruel mummy, you are human!! Just keep repeating to yourself "this soon will pass". She'll only be this little for a short time thank goodness or we'd all go potty Grin

Have a lovely meet up with my NE MNers, including seeing a squidgy newborn. Who obliged mummy by remaining asleep in his sling so she could eat cake Grin

sasamaxx · 01/06/2011 16:08

Jasmine rabbit poo generally means constipation - your bowel could be impacted as this can caused the dribbly bits (encopresis) - I'd get using some lactulose pronto Smile - sorry moomin just noticed that you said practically the same thing - duh!

Merlion great news about baby's weight

Moomin - I really do understand how you feel and how frustrating it is, but I agree with the others that it does sound like a growth spurt - take advantage of anyone else who can give long cuddles and try to get out by yourself even just to the corner shop with no baby attached. A real saviour for me used to be the shower. I used to sit DS in the car seat and bring him into the bathroom while I had a shower. This was the only time of day I could put him down and I really looked forward to it - I think the sound of the water kept him calm.

I'm in the same boat as confessions - our weather has been very wet and dismal lately so as much as I think flip flops are perfect pregnancy footwear, I've not been getting to wear them either Sad

Good luck at your scan on Monday Magpie

I had a total meltdown this morning when the kids messed around and tipped me over the edge. I am so hormonal, fed up, knackered and sick to the back teeth of waiting now.
Thank goodness DH's paternity leave starts tomorrow - maybe when I am a bit more relaxed things will start moving.
I'm constipated again as well which I think is causing funny pains which feel like uterine pains but probably aren't.

Joannezipan · 01/06/2011 16:25

Sasa I hope things get going soon...time for a pineapple curry!

Well apparently this time to doctor thinks the cough is a chest infection Hmm antibs a-go-go! At least after I got to go and see my friend for a chat. She is going to help me make DH's b'day cake next week (Raspberry and white chocolate!). And she gave me home made cup cakes and scotcheggs for my birthday - Best gift ever! So that's dinner sorted out without the need for a trip to the shops (also a good gift!). Right time for that nap.

AlmightyCitrus · 01/06/2011 16:31

Well, I texted my friend back, and asked her not to text so early and got a "oh don't you want to be friends anymore" reply. FFS she's 37. Even my 11 year old DD thinks she's childish. (This is the friend who seems to think she's going to get free reign over the baby. I'm trying to get a bit of distance).

I'm another due late in June. To be honest, that's a bit inconvenient so I'd like baby to arrive mid June (crosses fingers) although knowing my luck it'll be late and end up mid July!

sasamaxx · 01/06/2011 16:57

Wow that really is childish almighty
Smashing about the yummy foodstuffs joannezipan

8rubberduckies · 01/06/2011 17:12

Mmmmmmmm I want Scotch Eggs now..... Grin Is it your birthday today Joanne? If so, Happy Birthday Smile.

I forgot to mention that when I had the scan yesterday they estimated the baby to be 7lb Shock. I'm hoping she slows down a bit as she still has 3 weeks left of cooking!!!!

DS is asleep on the sofa after a busy afternoon stroking baby goats and pigs at the City Farm, and whizzing down the slide in the park ad nauseum clutching a piece of chocolate flapjack, with Mummy watching from a nearby bench. I know I should wake him up if I have any chance of getting him down tonight at a decent hour, but its soooooooo nice to put my feet up.... Smile

NurseSunshine · 01/06/2011 17:27

I had the same problem with a friend of mine Almighty and had to tell him in no uncertain terms that I did not appreciate being woken up at 3.30am WHEN I AM PREGNANT!!!! I got an apology and a promise not to do it again and he hasn't, thankfully. This is the only reasonable response and it sounds like your friend is being a bit ridiculous Hmm

Moomin I bet we will all be feeling like this at one point or another. I was going to say growth spurt as well. Am sure it will pass in a couple of days and if you can get some EBM into her in the meantime to give yourself a break then great. Don't feel guilty about leaving her in the cot whilst you have a shower and 5 mins to yourself, I think it's compulsory :)

8RD Sounds like you had a lovely afternoon. I'd grab the chance of some peace and quiet while you can! Even better if there's some chocolate flapjack left Grin

Sorry about the chest infection Joanne. Hope the anti bs clear it up nice and quickly.

Welcome Magpie, hope things look better at your next scan.

38weeks tomorrow! Have another MW appointment in the morning and am going to pick up my birth pool on saturday which I will definately not use as a paddling pool if it's sunny. Nope.
Back hurts so much :( All I want to do is lie on the sofa which sounds relaxing but is the least comfortable thing in the world

Joannezipan · 01/06/2011 17:28

8 it's 1/2 term he can sleep in the morning right. You can virtually have one of my cup cakes...they have pink icing and sparkles!

Almighty Honestly paper cuts and salt/lemon juice is the way to go...or text her back and tell her to grow up!

I could get used to this maternity leave business!

8rubberduckies · 01/06/2011 17:49

The cupcake and the flapjack were just the ticket Grin. I now feel suitably sugared up energised to be able to waddle to the kitchen and sort out dinner. DS just waking up.... awwww, he's so cute when he's slowed down to normal speed... Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/06/2011 17:56

Almighty, you meant 3.7 not 37, surely HmmGrin And I see it is that friend as well, I remember you telling us about how grabby she was. Some distance would be a good thing. Deffo need a thick skin dealing with her!

Joanne - your friend sounds lovely

Moomin - I used to put ds in his bouncy chair when I went in the shower.

TMI Alert, I seem to just be doing giant poos every couple of days. How is there even room???

PrisonerZero · 01/06/2011 18:06

I am 39 weeks tomorrow!

Haven't caught up with the thread yet but wanted to ask if anyone gets sharp cramps in the bottom half of your stomach when the baby moves because I am getting them for the last half an hour and OMFG it hurts. But only for a few seconds. Very annoying. Also had a bit of a dodgy stomach today too but DP thinks its because I have had 4 bananas over the last few days Hmm makes a change though he usually blames chocolate for everything.

Will have a read through xx

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 01/06/2011 18:49

Kara I too am in the giant poo club. And even when they aren't giant there are 2 or 3 a day!!! Can't believe how much of my life is being taken up by poo (that doesn't belong to DS). Would happily pass some of my ability to Jasmine. Pears and peas are good for relieving constipation, but stay well away from apples and bananas.

Reading that back, I realise I need to get a life. Hmm

milliemuffin · 01/06/2011 19:00

I told DP I just needed to popup upstairs but didn't mention I'd felt a trickle and just wanted to be sure it was my waters before I said anything. I get upstairs and absolutely nothing! Not a dot!! Now my mind is playing tricks on me!!

WRT poo's - no 2 are the same with me! Can do 3 or 4 different kinds every 48hrs!

Have horrendous hayfever today :( really hope it's not this bad when baby decides to put in an appearance!

Have a nice evening all xx
