LadyGoneGaga · 02/07/2011 11:46

No, I don't feel bad with it BB. Which somehow makes it more irksome.

We are having to go with Virgin as new house is right on the edge of a village and opp open fields so the broadband speed on phoneline is only 1MB. Apparently they are coming to install on 16th July Sad. But don't worry, can still post on my phone although I expect will be rather more concise than the usual ramblings

You may be a little busy anyway GG...

rocketleaf · 02/07/2011 16:20

muse on the subject of Bees, I was wondering when you removed the head support from the cocoon? Sprout is only 6 weeks and not a big baby but it already seems a bit small/in the way.

Muser · 02/07/2011 16:39

We probably removed it a bit late rocket, but she was in the pram so rarely at the time. I think if it looks uncomfy try taking it out and if Sprout's head is all wobbly maybe pop it back. Or I think you can get generic head supports in Mothercare in bigger sizes.

rocketleaf · 02/07/2011 16:45

Just been out without it and she seems fine. I also do not bother with the straps at this stage as she is lying down flat , I can't really see the point. Its not like we are off roading. I am impressed with your sling action, I wish I had carried on with it as she doesn't seem to like it that much now.

Muser · 02/07/2011 18:06

As I appear to be incapable of getting the pram onto a bus without tipping it over, straps were necessary for me. Although I just avoid buses mostly out of embarrassment!

Sling use was a necessity for me as it was the only way she would nap for a very long time. She will nap in the pram now, but life is a lot less complicated with a sling.

Medee · 02/07/2011 18:24

We've not regretted buying our Quinny, but I don't use public transport, either walk or drive.

rocketleaf · 02/07/2011 19:38

Same here meds I wouldn't rule out the train but haven't needed to yet. But its a bit different to that there London round here. I havent been on a bus up here since I first moved here and I think that was only the once, the night fight bus home after clubbing (never again)

AlpinePony · 03/07/2011 07:23

owl We had to do that during my first pregnancy. We only had one sofa and I had to send him to IKEA to buy another one because I needed to lie down and it seemed a trifle unfair to make him lie on the floor with the dogs.

ginfox I was thinking maybe I could help more in the way that owl "helps". I would fetch ladyG and I a nice drink with lottsa ice-cubes, put a pouffe under her legs and then I'd sit next to her telling her husband what to do.

JB took Bear on a bus in Glasgow, he said never, ever, ever again.

Ivegotmrbitey · 03/07/2011 11:56

No public transport for me either. I live in the arse end of nowhere so it's always a case of walking or driving.

I AM TOO HOT Angry

LadyGoneGaga · 03/07/2011 13:31

OK so far, Biteme. But have just had a big roast dinner from the posh foodie pub in next village. I confined myself to only three roasties but couldn't fight off the lure of the Yorkshire pudding. No pudding though and soda water to drink. Awaiting testing.

We've been at a fifth birthday party this morning so figured I deserved it Hmm.

Wait until they are toddlers. We sometimes have to go on the bus as a "special treat".

37 weeks today. Full term. My friend from work who was due two days before me had her baby yesterday. Eeeek. Right, cervix. Listen up. You have to hold it together until tomorrow night, ok. Then do what you like.

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 03/07/2011 14:15

So apparently massive roast dinners are fine. But veg soup and wholemeal pittas are not. Have I woken up in a parallel universe? Grin

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 03/07/2011 14:35

ladyg not mad at all, that's just what low GI is. Of course protein & fat is lower GI than blended (easier to digest) Veg and bread. :( just try and forget 'conventional' grain-based pyramid food 'wisdom' - that way diabetes lies. If you eat bread, have a good dollop of butter or cheese with it.

Ginfox · 03/07/2011 16:29

So reading between the lines GG, if a food seems like an unhealthy option, it is probably the right choice for you. Cool! Roast sounding good, although I had left-over takeaway chicken balti for lunch, which was lush.

Bitey tis too damn hot, even north of the border, and is causing me much discomfort. My feet have stopped de-swelling during the night, and are now permanently mahoosive, and my finger joints are really sore from swelling too. I was born in June '76 (hottest month of hottest year ever apparently) and thinking about my poor Mum suffering that makes me want to cry and beg her forgiveness.

Wol don't let MrBoots get too comfy in his new chair, there's chores to be done (and sorbet to be delivered to all PESH wherever they be).

Any Truff news?

Truffkin · 03/07/2011 16:51

Yo hags, happy Sunday.

GG the blood thing sounds like a proper minefield, I think I will really struggle if I end up going down that route. It seems nonsensical, the foods that do or don't make your sugars shoot up. Glad you got to enjoy a roast dinner though, sounds beauts.

Scan went really well yesterday, the sonographer was just lovely. He showed us the heartbeat straight away and said 'hopefully that will put your minds at rest whilst I do my measurements, then we can ask your Mom to come in and say hello.' He did all the checks and measurements and confirmed all is fine, measuring bang on for 20+1 (yesterday) and when he turned the screen round for us to see the baby was kicking it's legs and punching it's arms all over the place. He called my Mom in and she had a good look too, we got some great pictures and it was generally a lovely experience. I felt like a weight had been lifted when we came out!

We went to the place with the Amby nest yesterday afternoon and I think I've decided against it. It just looked so much smaller than I was expecting from pictures I'd seen and if we're going to get something that it grows out of quickly I think I'd prefer one of those little wooden rocking cribs. We also had a look at pushchairs and TGB took a fancy to a Pilko Pramette. The plus side being that the colour we liked is now discontinued so it was on a really good offer. Unfortunately he mentioned this to his brother on the phone who said they had one and it fell apart so it's a big to that one now. After looking again, I think I need to see the Stokke in the flesh, but am also liking the Silver Cross surf so there are a few options. I think the thing that appeals is the higher position of those 2 prams, so we need to get to a place that stocks a few of them and push them about / put them up and down etc. It was quite squee inducing seeing TGB push a pram about though.

My Mom and sister have now gone home, so I am hoping for a lazy evening. We stayed up very late just chatting and being silly then we've had a bit of a shop this morning (did get some great linen trousers though, so worth it!) and I am feeling the tiredness now. Have watched the men's wimbledon final and TGB is waking up from his hangover nap (he was out watching boxing and sampling his friend's home made cider last night Confused so was in need of a sleep) so hopefully we'll have a chilled out night and maybe a takeaway Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 03/07/2011 17:28

Aw great the scan went well, Truff. Am delighted for you. Smile

I had a Pliko Pramette with MiniG. In fact is still in the loft. They're ok but I never loved it. I would have reused but decided I needed something with bigger wheels as will be more in the country this time and also wanted something with a bar across rather than two handles as want to be able to push one handed whilst marshalling a toddler. We've gone for a M&P Sola as it ticked the boxes whilst not being too ferociously expensive but i do have some concerns re: robustness. But hey it is under warranty so they will sort it if it does fall apart. Would have loved an iCandy Peach but too tight Grin.

Having a quiet afternoon as MiniG playing next door, even napped on sofa. Resting up for the madness of tomorrow. But this time tomorrow should be all over bar the unpacking Grin.

Great news on the scan Truffs. I am similarly still in a state of relief, though I have another 10 weeks to get myself worked up about the 20 week scan... Hmm

GG - go with it. Obviously you need roast potatoes every night. Maybe chips would be good too? Let us know. Good luck with tomorrow. Sure all will be well.

I have had a totally lovely day punctuated by a 2-3 hour nap in the early afternoon. Felt a bit like a cat! Then we went out for an early supper. Now I want cake, and sadly I have none.

Medee · 03/07/2011 22:37

great scan news, Truff!

Ivegotmrbitey · 04/07/2011 08:10

Yay for scan news truff! You just need to get on with the serious business of baybee growing now Smile Here, have some omega three rich cake. I really liked the silver cross surf and thought it would be excellent for the beach. In the end limited money won the day and I went for a very similar one that included the car seat. As far I remember you got lots of extra stuff with the surf like sun umbrellas, mossie nets, rain covers, bike pump for the tyres etc.

GG there is no sense to be had here! Vay good news about the roast potatoes though. Hope the move goes OK and in a few hours will all be over bar the hunt for the kettle.

Happy cat napping YellowY, I am such a fan of the snoozing. Hope you have sourced some cake now?

Four year old niece was gorgeous yesterday and amused herself for hours by pouring icy water over my massive sausage feet. They had returned to normal size when we leaving! My SIL also gave us a bumbo and a high chair, it's great being the second lot of breeders in the family!

Ginfox · 04/07/2011 10:05

Happy Moving Day GG! Hope you are sitting comfortably and supervising the chaos.

Bitey I need to borrow your niece. She sounds like an extremely useful and well-brought-up child. It looks as if I am wearing shiny tights, but actually tis just the skin on my shins stretched tight. Am gutted as I feel really good, full of energy, actually enjoying being diffed (apart from rib pain) but can't do too much due to elephant feet.

This morning found out that my friend who can't possibly get pregnant, is pregnant! MrFox came in to tell me with tears in his eyes - what a wuss

Yay Truffs! Sounds as if you had a top weekend. Congrats on scan news

LadyGoneGaga · 04/07/2011 10:34

Am sitting on my folding chair, Gin. Can't do much until the next room clear and then I can start cleaning a bit. Is the other end where it will get busy (for me). Have been up since about 5:30 though as just couldn't sleep last night. MrG has gone up to the hometown t'up north to retrieve lots of stuff from his folks garage.

Scrambled egg provoked blood sugar failure this morning. But too busy today to worry about it.

Feel a little bit sad - this was my first house, bought 8 years ago. Has seen a lot of changes. Time to move on though.

Put feet up Gin. Or stick them in cold water. Or kidnap Bitey's niece.

How is everyone else today?

OP posts:
BarbiesBeaver · 04/07/2011 10:51

Good luck on the move today GG! Hope all goes smoothly after your months of hell. We are putting our house on the market at the end of the month hopefully - this is not good is it? (Can see a future of moving on Christmas Eve in 3 foot snow sellotaping fanny shut).

TruffleMuncher great news on the scannage! Sounds really positive. I got to hear the heartbeat last week at my midwife appointment and cried. I didn't even cry at my 12 week scan so not sure what that was about.

Gin nice tights, they look sexy. I was born in June 76 too, I think my mum kept swimming in the sea to remain sane. Can I recommend a paddling pool for you?

Ivegotmrbitey · 04/07/2011 11:14

Get those feet up the wall foxy, you sound very uncomfortable! I put after sun aloe vera gel on mine the other night and lay down with my feet on the head board and a fan blowing on them. It really helped but only temporarily. Not too long to go now.... Lovely news about your friend's win too, sorry the stupid pollen is getting your eyes there Wink

barbie good idea, I am going straight in the sea after work. Just hope I don't get harpooned! I cried at the first heart beat hearing, it seemed so much more real the ultra sound. It's the best sound in the world isn't it? I copied owl and recorded it on my mobile. It's lovely to listen to when you are feeling over diffed Smile

gaga I don't understand! Should you eat roast potatoes exclusively maybe? Moving house is strange isn't it? So many memories get made under those rooves. (Is that even a word? I want to say plural of roof but it looks wrong and sort of 70s.) Lots more memories to be made in the new house soon!

I am doing my birth plan, it is a bit bossy! Do statements like "I do not, under ANY circumstances, want Pethidine" wind midwives up? I just want to be clear! I haven't got any probelms with any other kind of pain relief but really don't want Pethidine as my mother and sister both reacted badly to it. It is making it all seem a bit real now, eeeeep!

AlpinePony · 04/07/2011 11:40

No No to roast potatoes "exclusively"! Wink 'Tis not the tatties which are diabetes friendly (of course not, cooked tatties very high-GI) - 'tis in combination with high-protein (i.e., roast) and high-fat (i.e., roast). Sorry to bore you all, but I'm a low-GI fan and I like nutrition. Blush

Good luck today LadyG - I hope it all goes swimmingly for you!

truff That's wonderful news ! :)

bitey Tbh I think birthplans can be very "first time mums have no idea", but - for the pethidine I would highlight in bold in red that it is because of your mum & sister having bad reactions, so that this is not glossed over as a "oh she just wants aromatherapy candles" and PFB-ishness! e.g., my only "no" was to a general anaesthetic - this being that I've had 5 and 3 of those have nearly killed me.

LadyGoneGaga · 04/07/2011 11:48

Bitey If I was doing that badly for pain I would just proceed directly to epidural and miss out the opiates personally so YANBU.

Frigging hoover (well Dyson) has broken. Nothing to do with me being lazy and trying to hoover up hair grips Blush. Now have to do rest of house with hand attachement. But at least lot of house has hard floors.
