Belated congratulations Orchid! Well done you. x x x

LadyGoneGaga · 27/06/2011 19:41

Where is everyone?

Macca I don't know how you cope with these sort of temps. Please tell me you get used to it?

Hello Twink - how is everything going? Plenty of snuffling I hope.

Hello everyone... it's 28 degrees in my bedroom right now. What to do...? Sleep will certainly not be on the on the cards if this continues.

So Alps - how you getting on? Have your sinus' stopped flooding? And your skin cleared up? [please say yes...!]

Bitey - good work on the farting.

And... What does FDH stand for? Hmm

LadyGoneGaga · 27/06/2011 22:06

How are you doing, Brownie? How many weeks now?

OP posts:
Truffkin · 27/06/2011 23:09

Yo hags, am also not enjoying how difficult it is to do normal stuff in the heat, especially as ordinarily I would be happy to have it like this all year round. I struggled on the tube today and may have to go into work much earlier tomorrow to avoid crushing in with so many BO producing strangers - yeuch.

Orc it sounds like things are great Chez O and loving mini O being such a doting big brother. We went to visit TruffNeph on Saturday and had some lovely snuffle time. Seeing TGB with him was melty all over, he even got up to check him in his crib when he made a few squawky noises, which I luffed.

GaGa congratumalationz on the diet tekkers, am loving your work. Hope it keeps you off the hard stuff (although am concerned about what I would do in your circs as am not a lover of lentils / pulses in general - oops)

My Dad came to visit at the weekend, which was lovely although witnessing my little sister's legendary strops first hand was truly something to behold. We were out for dinner on Saturday night and whilst waiting for our food to arrive (the wait was no more than 20 minutes and we had bread to keep us going) she came out with I'm dyyyyyyiiiiiiing, I'm going to diiiiiiiiiie, you're the most horrible parents in the woooooorld. We were really quite entertained! She had another moment yesterday morning when asked to go and brush her teeth as she clearly had not done so (pretended to but the dry toothbrush gave her away!) 'noooo oooone beliieeves meeeeeee'

My mother is coming on Thursday to stay and my sister arrives on Saturday (couldn't bear to think she was missing out!) but at least she will take Mom home on Sunday rather than us having to put her on another train. She gets a bit nervous travelling on her own - bless. We are at work on Friday so she plans to give our flat a spring clean (she enjoys cleaning like a proper wierdo) and then have a wander around the local shops. She's coming with us on Saturday for the scan (probs not actually in the room though) and then we're off to some sort of baby items emporium so she can squee over my pushing prams around.

It seems I am not entirely over the pukeage, no matter how hard I try to pretend. Still, am nowhere near at Beaver's level and certainly a great improvement on the first 17 weeks. Still, not being able to keep down meals that seemed a good idea at the time, is fairly tedious.

Am looking quite bumptastic now too, which has come as a bit of an overnight surprise. I spent a long while thinking 'I don't look any different, can't wait until I get a bump' and am now a bit self-conscious about it. Am hopeful that a successful scan experience on Saturday will help me to be happier to show it off (and get a seat during my commute!)

Sorry for lengthy wafflings, I felt I had a lot to catch up on. Am now off to catch some zees as am feeling stupidly tired due to heat

AlpinePony · 28/06/2011 06:27

Hello everyone, huge sympathies and icy mountain springs to those heavily pregnant. I am looking forward to being enormous in January, but of course I had all this last year. 35 driving home last night and queues of up to 25km on the motorway, so I took a chance and directed JB through central Brussels which was a gamble which paid off, but I felt mean given he only got his license 10 days ago! Got home and our living room was only 22! Bliss! Tesco freezer aisles for all of you!

Got myself a ,nice set of symptoms which brownie alluded to, no coldsores yet but they can't be far away.

LadyGoneGaga · 28/06/2011 07:12

Aaaagh, just typed a long message which Mumsnet ate Angry.

Essence of it was - well done Mr Alps on driving baptism of fire. Sorry bout the vomming. Truff Sorry bout the vomming but glad you have a little bump now - you'll be feeling movement in the next few weeks I reckon. Now that is a squeee inducing moment. If a little peculiar. I'm getting full on exorcist/Alien belly movements now.

The midwife is down to do a homevisit today - from when I was planning the homebirth. Can't seem to get hold of her to cancel. But maybe it's worth it to get her take on things anyway. Seeing the consultant tomorrow. And the Health visitor came round yesterday for an ante-natal visit which is a new one on me. Maybe is to check out my provision of crap ham?

Much cooler today. Thank fuck for that although drizzling so me and MiniG might be stuck inside all day. 6 days til move day!

OP posts:
Ginfox · 28/06/2011 09:47

Morning all. Beautiful hot sunny day here - wouldn't dare complain as I'm in Scotland and we haven't had a nice day since April.

LadyG we had a visit from the HV a few weeks ago. She introduced herself, told us how we could get hold of her, and that was about it really. Sooo glad I had cleaned and tidied before she arrived - so she didn't think I was a complete slattern - as she only saw the kitchen in the 5 mins she was here. MrFox was a bit underwhelmed, but I figured it was a Good Thing that she didn't feel the need to check the place for signs of drug/crap ham abuse, or shine lights in our eyes whilst asking tricky questions.

Alps the British media gives us the impression that traffic queues (and all other deficiencies) only happen in the UK. Am surprised to learn that this is not necessarily the case. But well done on the co-piloting. I haven't had the patience to let DH drive for months. He's fine really, if a bit twitchy, but me sitting with arms wrapped protectively over the bump can't be helping.

Truffs as much as I've moaned during this trimester (and two preceding) I still love my bump. Really going to miss it, and will have to get out of the habit of stroking it absent-mindedly.

macaroonmum · 28/06/2011 11:17
laurielou · 28/06/2011 11:36

Morning ladeez! Hope you haven't all melted away in this heat. I thought the mini heat wave in April was hot enought so you all have muchos sympathy for bump + heat. Enoy this laurie-load of ice cream Grin.

So, Mr Loz returned to work yesterday. It all went swimmingly....... for 2 hours. Then BugBoy began to scream for no reason that I could fathom, & that pretty much continued on & off all day. I think it was a mixture of not being the total centre of attention, as there was only so much I could do on my own, & the heat. He seemed happiest when I stripped him down & lay him on my cool bed to kick around. However, I also learnt a valuable lesson yesterday - not to set to high a task for myself. I had visions of cleaning the house, making Mr Loz a home cooked meal & having a smily, happy, sleepy baby. I realise this makes me sound like some 50's housewife, but still..... Instead Mr Loz returned home to find Bugboy & me on the bed, me in skanky out of shape joggers, BugBoy in his nappy, with not a hint of an evening meal in sight . Ah well, today is another day.

Oh, Rie if you're lurking I dreamt last night that Casper & I were discussing your birth story. Sorry, don't know what the details were, but it was all good. Then Casper told me off for putting BugBoy's nappy on too tight Grin

Just checked everyone's due dates, & in true ESH style looks like we're heading for a new cluster lay. I do luffs this part.

Oh, lots of fartage noise from BugBoy so looks like yet another nappy change is calling.

Ginfox · 28/06/2011 11:47

Lozza I am assured by my child-rearing friends that in the early days/weeks/years just getting dressed is a major achievement. The fact that it was only into joggers should not make you feel any less proud of yourself.

Not Tescos Macca. Upgrade to M&S freezer aisle. Preferably puddings and ice-cream section. Yum.

macaroonmum · 28/06/2011 12:01

Fox I'd never get out again if I got into an M&S puddings aisle Smile

Laurie you are a mad one. There's no way I cooked anything for TIS until thechild was about 4 weeks old. I always found the evenings just too much to handle. Take advantage of the heatwave and just do salads Wink

Ivegotmrbitey · 28/06/2011 13:08

Hello loz! Glad you have got the 50's house wife business out of the way early on, and well done on getting dressed!

CeriseC FDH stands for foot dragging husband due to him taking eleven years to see that I am the best thing since sliced bread and marry me. A little unkind perhaps but so is the fact that I have wrinkles in my wedding photos!

Enjoy the growing bump truff Smile I know I moan about being hot and that but I am loving my belly for the first time in my life and think I will miss it when it goes. Also having a lot of trouble with the idea that the bump and the baby are mutually exclusive and I can't have both (unless I really work hard on the ice cream). Stick it out I say!

Excellent delegation skills there ski Grin Breathe right nasal strips are vay good for the snuffling nose to help with snoring at night. I keep "forgetting" to put mine on when the FDH has caused any kind of offence in the day.

The pub I used to work in has a walk in cold room and freezer, I wonder if they would let me go and stand in there?

owlbooty · 28/06/2011 13:38

You lot make me laff muchly Grin

I won't miss the bump when it goes. I have put my back out on one side, my opposite hip is fucked, I can't lie on my back (not allowed) and I can't lie on my front (not possible) - how the fucking fuck am I supposed to actually sleep??

We have some -80 freezers and a walk in -40 at work. I suspect they will not let me stand in them though. I shall join Maccer in the Waitrose pudding aisle instead.

Lozza I concur with Ginny re the jogging bottoms. You deserve a medal for managing that much Grin

I was going to make sure I had lovely things in the fridge for when the MW visited but now I see I should stock up on crap ham instead - I shall do this tonight.

Truffs lovely, can't believe you are STILL vomming. That is just not on. Hugs and a punch on the nose for you and VomBarbie .

Alps Christ, JB is clearly a DHJB if he dares drive through a city having just passed test.

Today I have stabbing pain in nethers and baybee's head feels like it is properly stuck in my pelvis - I'm guessing this is par for the course and I am not about to kick off the cluster lay? I am being overtaken by people on zimmer frames and most notably, last week, a chap with one leg missing.

Ps. Bites your witchery worked. It is colder here today. Thank fuck for that. Last night was hideous.

rocketleaf · 28/06/2011 14:31

Loz you are bonkers. I just cleaned the bathroom for the first time in 8 weeks and I think I have helped cook a few meals in the last week, which involved putting pizza in the oven then making TB do the salad. Sprout is 5+ weeks :o Strangely I HAVE found time for the internet Blush

Sprout is sleeping, do I snack, nap or both? Silly question really.

gaga sorry forgot to say great news about the blood suger, I really hope that you can avoid having to stick things in yourself (thats what got you in ot trouble in the first place! fnar)

ohh booty stabbing pains is supposed to meas babies head is stretching the cervix!! You could be about to do a massive que jump! Mind you, my diffed pal has been having those loads and been in labour twice and has still not had her baybee (poor thing!) so means nowt really :o

Medee · 28/06/2011 14:34

Hello PESHies. Thought I would let those of you who are packing your hospital bags know that there is loads of half price baby stuff in Sainsbury's just now, wipes, toiletries etc, including breast pads, Lanisoh (£10 to £5) and other useful stuff. Think it ends tomorrow.

rocketleaf · 28/06/2011 14:42

Funny meds was just going to post that as just emailed our NCT lot about it. Is it in store as well as online? Our local sainos is rubbish but not sure i can be bothered signing up for home delivery just for some lansinoh as thats all i need really. I also heard that you can get it on prescription from another thread on here. I am going to test this theory on Friday so will report back.

laurielou · 28/06/2011 15:26

Ah, thanks everyone for confirming my bonkers-ness. The joggers are going in the bin washing basket tonight.

As much as I adore having BugBoy here, I do miss my bump. I think it helped that I was feeling well & somehow managed not to put my back out. How the hell I managed that I don't know, when I've managed to put it out before bending down to put pants on Blush. I must go back to my chiropractor if nothing else to give her a big snog. Tongues "n" all.

I still sit with my hands resting on my tummy, & sometimes think I feel movement. Then I realise that it has to be wind.

Gaga great news on the blood sugar levels. Good luck for the house move too (surely this is more bonkers than me?)

LadyGoneGaga · 28/06/2011 16:00

Think it is vey bonkers, Loz but also slightly in de nile about it despite having just transferred an unfeasibly large sum of money to my solicitors ready for completion. As we are having people to pack for us I'm sat around as normal so feels a bit unreal. They are coming to pack on sat, moving on Mon!

I'm impressed you managed joggers to be honest. Investing in some dry shampoo also a good thing as full hairwashes became lot less frequent I seem to remember

Aw Owlie- can you see a chiro for your back? Don't suffer if you can help it.

I used to sit stroking my "bump" after miniG was born and then remember it was nobbut lots of lardy fat. Did miss it though. Quite looking forward to being able to bend over again though.

Rcoket sleep AND eat. Always. Preferably at same time.

So midwife did come brandishing homebirth kit but took it all away again and managed to make birth sound even more intervention heavy than I was expecting. I cried. Consultant tomorrow morning. Need to write a load of questions/points to make. MrG coming too but he is not really one of lifes assertive people so think any arguing the toss will be up to me.

OP posts:
Medee · 28/06/2011 18:22

I think it will be instore too.

Muser · 28/06/2011 20:14

lauriewithafringeontop I am still incapable of doing all the housework, cooking dinner and wrangling a baby. Babies take up a lot of time. Don't fret.

owlbooty · 28/06/2011 21:01

GG I'm sure you've already found this document which might be useful if you need to argue your corner, but you've got to remember, you're at the really mild end of the scale - is not helpful the MW telling you about shedloads of interventions when a: you may go into labour around 38 weeks anyway, b: you are managing to keep on top of your blood sugar levels and c: there is no reason MicroG can't stay with you the whole time if he's feeding well and as you've done this before, there is every chance that s/he will do brilliantly.

I'm still cheering you on with pompoms for this and for the impending move. and yes I probably do need someone to poke my back about, shall try and sort that out.

Muse that is splendid news, I am looking forward to having a real excuse to let myself go Grin

Ivegotmrbitey · 28/06/2011 21:23

Sad gg I suppose the midwife felt she had to give you all the information just in case but sounds like she needs to fine tune her bedside manner and not take a one size fits all approach. What wiseowl says too, all will be well.

Thanks for sainsbos tip off medee need some lansinoh as used most of repairing my cracked heels. Worked a treat too.

I have a very hurty bump today. Not a queue jump hurting more a my skin is streteched to the maximum kind of sore. Also I am sunburnt. And very very tired and unable to write as if English is my first language.

rocketleaf · 28/06/2011 21:45

Sorry to hear the MW has put the wind up you gaga if it's any help we ended up in delivery suite instead of homebirtj and it wasn't as bad as I had built it up to be. The MWs were pretty sympathetic and took our HB birth plan into account as much as possible under the circumstances. I am sure you will be able to keep intervention to a minimum. Sounds like you have the GD well under control.

macaroonmum · 29/06/2011 11:06

Awww GG What owl said. Don't let 'em panic you - it sounds like you aren't a worst case scenario so they should just feckin' leave you alone. You've got a lot on at the moment what with the move and everything
